πŸ‘πŸ‘ Tip Top customer service. The 'boss' of the restaurant is little Ayla, in which we took a picture with. This is a family-run restaurant with very much authenticity in their cuisine. The family is very friendly, and the Indian cuisine here is delicious. The ambience and the interior decor is spot-on. People often mention delicious, nice, restaurant, Indian, staff,

Fantastic place to eat in Newcastle. I had the mixed grill with a side of tarka dhal, it was delicious. The restaurant is so central, very easy to walk to, with lots of bars around. I would say give it a try.

Thank you Sam. For having a table ready early. Your staff were fantastic. Food was so fresh and delicious. We had driven 4 hours and it really hit the spot. Highly recommended. Best Indian in Newcastle. Family run and well priced.

Well this was an unexpectedly lovely surprise. My son and I had struggled to find somewhere open and decent and came upon this place, Staff and owners are really really nice. They make all food in-house - nothing manufactured. Their intention is that the food is made in the same way and as good as they would make at home. I will come again (and I live in London).

I found the food and service in this restaurant profoundly disappointing. The decor far outperformed the food. The Tawa Kebab that I ordered as my starter was half the size of others brought to the table and looked like a burger topped with a slice of melted cheese. The side-salad looked well past its use-by date. My main course of Murgh Morich Dhonia was mediocre at best. It lacked flavour and finesse. The peshwari nan was small but arguably the best part of the meal. Staff just didn't seem to care about my views. I can't envisage returning. (As a post-script to my review, after visiting, I learned that Ayla received a food hygiene rating of two, from a possible five, during an inspection on 21 June 2023. Had I known that at the time, I would not have dined at the restaurant.)

πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯AYLA NEWCASTLEπŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯ First time trying this resteraunt and I was NOT disappointed! Beautiful contemporary Indian food. For starters we got the Goan steamed mussels and Hara tikka kebab nice different than usual tikka chicken, mussels were absolutely gorgeous nice coconut and lemon sauce. Mains were absolutely delightful, MURGH MORiCH DHONIA very hot very flavoursome not overpowered with corriander either. MANGALOREAN GHOOST diced lamb cooked with roasted peppercorns and coconut . Lamb melted in my mouth!! These were accompanied with spicy masala chips (which aren't on the menu and aren't spicy but delicious nevertheless) really nice chips . Also opted for coconut rice which was standard . Pickle tray was delicious really nice. Service was impeccable would definitely come back. Thank you guys . 10/10 for mango lassi absolutely delicious all the food.

I'm not a massive fan of Indian food but this time was for girlfriend who is a big fan of Indian cuisine. The waiting staff were incredibly friendly and knew the menu very well. I overheard them mentioning where the Mussels were sourced/variety (this wasn't for me), they were incredibly engaging with other customers as well as ourselves. The food we great and tasted wonderful. I ordered things I've never had before, a Malabar curry and paneer chat tikka. Both were delicious and I would have them again! We had a peshwari naan which was one of the nicest I have had. My only criticism is the portion size, but I am a big eater so the majority of people it wont be an issue.

Visited as a group of 5 and everyone had a great experience and loved the food. The owner was clearly very proud and passionate about the food and took time to talk to us about the dishes. We had the pre-theatre specials and the starters and mains were very generous for the pricing. Ghoost shimla mirch was properly spicy compared to other indian places I’ve been to in the UK, word of warning to the unaware, but still really delicious. Waiter verbally confirmed halal

Alongside three other colleagues we visited Ayla for the first time to sample a rare midweek curry. We kept it quite simple with a few poppadoms to begin then straight into the main event. My mixed grill was bang on the money. Maybe not the heartiest I've had but good quality meat. Naan breads are a 'healthier' saucer sized affair whilst the mixed veg rice's were really tasty. A pint of Kingfisher ensured we were fully hydrated throughout. I think if you've had a gallon of ale and need an old school curry you're best off going around the corner in all fairness. If somewhat more sophisticated food is your preference then check this place out.

I was in Newcastle for work and fancied an Indian meal, which so I checked the reviews. Ayla @ Grey St had good reviews so I thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed. The service as soon as I walked through the door was exceptional. Very attentive but kept their distance until you needed them. I had chicken Malabar which was exquisite. Would thoroughly recommend it

730pm Friday eve booking. Seated at the window, very polite and non intrusive waiting and front house staff. Warm, clean and and inviting atmosphere. The food, well, thats really tasty ..lots of depth... you can taste the care and pride by the chef. We've both travelled around Asia and SE Asia and this place is very much like one of THE best tasting meals I've had in Little India Singapore.... highly recommend

Lovely meal, atmosphere, and staff, at reasonable prices. Will absolutely be returning. Can't compliment the place enough. Returned to edit my review and add that there was a good selection of vegetarian options too 😁 10/10

Looking at the reviews I was looking forward to dining here, unfortunately I was disappointed. I ordered poppadoms and a pickle tray as normal. The restaurant only serve a basket of small poppadoms. Not really what I like, as I filed them more like crisps than poppadoms. Don't get me wrong. They were nice and light and tasty, but not for me. As my main dish, I ordered a Dhal, well that's what it said on the menu. I have never had a Dhal that you cannot eat with a fork. The dish was that thin and watery the Dhal ran through the fork. I had to eat it with a spoon. All the other Dhal that I have eaten and made have been thick and you can actually see the lentils, not this one. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty, but not a pleasant experience. Would I return πŸ€” not sure. If you find my review helpful please follow me as I have plenty more and review on a regular basis.

This was our first visit here, it’s wasn’t busy being a Monday evening so we had a good choice of seats. The staff were great, just enough eye contact without being overbearing. Our waiter really knew his menu and helped choose our starters and then helped me create my own vegetarian main from what was in the rest of the menu. Every dish was fantastic, full of flavor and aromatic fragrance. You could really tell the difference as they were making the meals with fresh ingredients. Ayla is really worth a visit for the food and the friendly staff.
