This place is definitely worth visiting if you happen to be in the Gunungkidul area. There are 2 ways you can choose to get to Bukit Pengilon: either via trekking from Siung Beach (longer walk), or by driving straight up to Pengilon Hill with your scooter or jeep, but the road is in very bad condition (can’t imagine if it’s raining). I’d recommend a >125cc engine for scooters, unless you’ll be having a pretty rough time. But it will all pay off with the amazing view and all-around amazing vibes. I set up a tent near a food-selling shack but end up sleeping outside under the beautiful moonlight, accompanied by the doggo family (I suppose it’s a dad, a mom, and the kiddo). They were all friendly and playful, but sometimes the dad can be pretty aggressive towards my male friends. Make sure to wake up early to catch the sunrise. Explore the hills and follow the trek to get closer to Banyu Tibo (a waterfall that is supposed to be drained once there is no rain) to see its splendor. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to see some feeding sea turtles near the waterfall. There’s also a local man who guards the track from Siung Beach named Pak Senen. He’s friendly and chatty, and he also sells drinks in his shack. Please do say hi! Price for setting up a tent is 20k, and additional 2k per person. Definitely worth it!

The view is really nice, but unfortunately the acces to this place is terrible you can't take a car or event motorcycle to cross this way alone, but the local residents provide you taxibike service with cost about 20k IDR (one way), or the optional you can going to the hills by walk.. but if you brave and wanna take a risk go to this spot with motorcycle i'm recommend you using manual transmition rather than automatic :) (it's good optional than you destroy your own motorcycle).. and when entrace this area additional fee will be charge for 5k IDR (each person). You don't be regret if you already arrived ath this place. Many people come here to spend one night for camping the facillity is quite good, any simple public restroom, the small shop provide your daily needs, and even a guide during your activity. In this hills you will get beautifull sunset, so don't missing this place before twilight. If you going around here maybe you will find a good dog, his name Kapas.. but the information wall tell you don't touch this dog and please respect the rule.. bring back you trash and don't throw them around this area.. And please don't going to this place during the rainny weather because it will be dangerous for your journey. This place is suitable for people who looking for peacefull, and i hope the goverment open the eye and have a right plan to manage this area 😀

I dont even have words to write my experiences in here. Everything was amazing and incredibly beautiful. The most favorite part being in here was the sunset. I am so grateful to watch the sweetest sunset in Bukit Pengilon. Btw we walked from the first parking area to Bukit Pengilon was about more less 30-40minutes. There are another parking area which is maybe if you park there you wont walk that much or the same things. Depends on how fast you walk tho. Imo better not using motor bike to the Bukit Pengilon due to the way to get there was a bit extremely bad. There are to many potholes especially while rainy season its gonna be hard tho. Or you can take a jeep ride for better option and there is also a local gojek that can take you and wait for you in the Bukit Pengilon. So choose whatever you feel comfortable and suit with your style.

A beautiful hills near Wediombo beach and Siung Beach, you need about 45 minutes tracking if you came from Siung Beach. And easy motorcycle park near Pengilon Hills if you came from Wediombo Beach side If you looking for a guide tour to get to this place, or a tent rent on the spot you can contact Mr Sunar on 0838-0689-8647 he could help you

Bukit Pengilon (Pengilon Hill) Bukit Pengilon is located around 5 km east of Wediombo Beach. To reach this place was kinda bit rough.. 😅 You would need to drive through a trail road (well not quite a trail, it was hard though). It was just until you arrived at the "gate", park your car, and then you would need to continue to track & trail uphill and downhill. But the view & scenery was really worth every harship you'd been through. It would make your jaw drop and your heart fall in love. They are currently preparing a new pathway to reach the hill top so in the future visitors won't have to use the trail path. This place will surely be on my list next time I go to Jogja.

Best place to do trekking with pristine Southern Java scenery. If you visit here, dont use city car as the road isn’t smooth and rocky. Mobile network is also limited (on kartuHalo/Telkomsel), be prepared to be isolated for a while. And better not to use slippers, the track may become quite muddy and slippery especially in rainy seasons. Local people are also very friendly, dont forget to smile and greet them. Shoutout to dogs living in the area. They’re the best dog guide ever! They followed us from the parking space (Bukit Batur) to the Pengilon hill. Dont forget to give them treats! Trek time from parking space (Bukit Batur) to Pengilon Hill approximately 20 minutes at normal pace.

I went there on rainy days. The hike was steepy and muddy. Prepare some money, we had to pay 2k-3k each post. Yet the scenery was awesome!

Experienced here last year (2023) in May. First time playing in nature on this hill, recommended by a friend. The journey to the parking lot was a little less good because it was still rocky and the road was damaged. For parking at that time you were asked to pay 30k for 5 motorbikes. BTW, at that time the camp fell. For those who can't stand walking, I recommend just taking a motorbike taxi, tracking is quite easy, even though there is stall 1 near the camp area, but get off first from the camp area, it takes around 2-3 minutes. And for the toilet, in my opinion, it's a bit far, there's no lighting at all. there is a small prayer room behind the stall

Well, this place is really nice, but that's it, before coming here at least... first prepare physically, especially if you bring a partner, secondly, prepare your cellphone battery and just so you know, there is absolutely no signal there. take a motorbike taxi PP 40 thousand / people can also not take a motorbike taxi as long as they don't like the motorbike, access cannot be by car, yes, from the parking lot to Pengilon Hill. From the parking lot to Pengilon Hill, the road is about 2 km.

If you're looking for an antimainstream place to visit & enjoy the sea view from the hill, this is the place for you. I went picnic with my friend & brought some snacks n drinks. Just sat there and ate while enjoying the breathtaking nature from the peak. You can also camp there! When you reach the hill, usually you will find "Kapuk" (a local dog that usually guide tourists or take photo with them). There's also a small store selling indomie variants and drinks, it provides toilet and small mosque, too. Unfortunately, there's still a lot of levies (illegal retribution) by local people (especially if you're tracking from Siung Beach).

Bukit Pengilon is one of the places worth to visit even with 3 hours ride from my place, 30 minutes walk, lose signal and back pain afterwards~ So serene ❤️

Pengilon Hill This hill is located in Gunung Kidul District, close to Banyu Tibo beach. the place is quiet, the weather is cool at 9 in the morning there are clean toilets, spacious parking, food stalls, you can camp. The view is good, recommended. However, safety on the cliffs is a bit lacking, so be careful especially if you bring children!!. We have to walk +- 15 to 20 minutes from the entrance to Pengilon Hill.
