Prambanan Temple in Indonesia is a truly breathtaking and awe-inspiring place to visit. Located in the Central Java region of the country, this ancient temple complex is a testament to the incredible skill and creativity of the Javanese people. The temple itself is a masterpiece of architecture and design, with beautiful and ornate carvings adorning every inch of its surface. The intricate details and attention to detail are truly breathtaking, and it's clear that a great deal of time and effort went into the construction of this temple. In addition to the temple itself, the grounds of Prambanan are also home to a number of other smaller temples and structures, each of which is equally impressive and worth exploring. The entire complex is surrounded by lush, verdant gardens, which provide a beautiful and peaceful setting for visitors to explore and take in the sights and sounds of this historic site. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to Prambanan Temple to anyone traveling to Indonesia. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or simply want to experience the beauty and culture of this incredible country, this temple is a must-see destination.

Warning: if you go ahead of your group past the fenced area to the steps of the temple, you will NOT be permitted back to the park area before the steps. This poorly understood logic and no warning signs (at least not in English) to give visitors warning was a bad experience to start. There's local price and foreigner pricing... Yeah. I understand but not acceptable anywhere else except in developing countries. The temples themselves were quite impressive and immense. Perhaps not staggering as Incan temples or Egyptian pyramids but still magnificent to look at. If you come really early, then you're probably going to get great photos but if you don't then use the trees and hedges to block areas to take better photos. If you go to the right side towards the exit, there's a great area to take photos without anyone seen in the background. The forced exit makes you go through the market area where hordes of vendors sell nearly identical stuff as each other. If you're really into these, the sellers in the middle and near the back (end area) will offer better pricing or more open to negotiations. Garden area is great for rest and small zoo area is okay but the cages looks small for the trapped animals. Sort of feel sorry for them.

This is the largest temple compound dedicated to Shiva in Indonesia. Rising above the centre of the last of these concentric squares are three temples decorated with reliefs illustrating the epic of the Ramayana, dedicated to the three great Hindu divinities (Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma) and three temples dedicated to the animals who serve them. Such a beautiful Temple..a must visit...

How amazing this place is , imagine you're living in the past and how the newly built temple looks like! Cannot think of how these people build the temple carving stone in the past. It must have took a long time for them to complete the construction. A sign of a long ruled ancient empire!

You might not be actually interested in this Hindu temples but you're just going to visit here because your tour package includes this site together with the Borobudur, or just because it's one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Don't worry. Me too. There are black and ashy spires and tons of rubbles in the perimeter surrounded by nature. Lots of Hindu gods reliefs are etched on the stones, and some statues are enshrined in the cave. Sounds attractive? Considering it is built in the 9th century it's amazing. But to be honest, it's no exciting. A lackluster type of historic site. If I'm well-versed in its historic backgrounds and Hinduism itself, viewpoint changes?

Please change the holiday system to close Monday for cleaning. I didn't see much cleaning happened on Monday. , anyway. Foreigner tourists come here to see the temples and stay Yogyakarta for 1-2 days. If Monday closes for cleaning, foreigner tourists cannot enter and had to leave Yogyakarta. Then, we don't have a chance to enter the temple in the life again... we came for what??? Even Ayutthaya in Thailand and Angkor Wat are much bigger than here but no day off for cleaning...

Prambanan, located on the island of Java in Indonesia, stands as a striking testament to the region's rich cultural and religious heritage. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a marvel of Hindu architecture, rivaling the grandeur of any ancient temple complex globally. The towering spires of Prambanan, dedicated to the Trimurti—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—create an imposing skyline that beckons visitors to explore its intricacies. The main temple, devoted to Shiva, is an architectural masterpiece with its soaring height and detailed reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu epics, such as the Ramayana. Wandering through Prambanan's expansive grounds is like navigating a sacred labyrinth. The smaller temples dedicated to Vishnu and Brahma, adorned with delicate carvings and statues, contribute to the site's overall majesty. As the sun sets, the temple complex is bathed in a warm, ethereal glow, creating a mystical ambiance that enhances the spiritual experience. Prambanan's restoration efforts have preserved its historical significance, allowing visitors to marvel at the craftsmanship of the past. The intricately carved bas-reliefs narrate tales of divine battles and celestial beings, providing a visual feast for those seeking to unravel the layers of Javanese mythology. Beyond its historical and architectural splendor, Prambanan serves as a vibrant cultural hub. Periodic dance performances, especially the Ramayana Ballet, bring the ancient narratives to life, creating a sensory journey that combines sight, sound, and tradition. In conclusion, Prambanan is a treasure trove of art, history, and spirituality. Its resplendent temples and cultural vibrancy make it an indispensable destination for those eager to immerse themselves in Indonesia's profound and captivating past.

Visited Candi Prambanan after Borobudur. Still as magnificent. We went with a tour guide so there was someone to explain about the history. Hope there is more information on the significance of each structure. Lots of unfinished structures, must be tough to rebuild them. It's like a puzzle.

The temple itself is an amazing glimpse into the past of Indonesia and is one of those sites that makes you wonder how its construction was completed given the time it was built in. The surrounding facilities include a lot of fun activities for kids, restaurants, shops, etc, and there are a number of well organized options for transportation around the complex and to other nearby temples. Overall, I enjoyed the Prambanan experience more than Borobudur, but you can't go wrong at either place if ancient temples are your thing.

Hugely impressive site with an incredible heritage and story. I’d come here early to avoid the heat as there’s a huge space to enjoy and walk around. Good for the family. Heads up the main temple is currently ongoing renovating the 200+ small temples around the site and according to latest estimates could take about 200 years! There’s a bit of noise but it doesn’t derail too much from the experience and communicates the effort involved in restoring the temple to its former glory.

Stop listening to the hardcore Angkor Watt fans, this place is also worth your time and money! Come early so you can avoid the heat and the crowds. Apart from this majestic temple you will also see 3 more all included in the same ticket, each with their own charm. You do not want to miss any of them!

The must do. Yes. You must make it a point in visiting Prambanan Temple. World Heritage Site UNESCO listed, largest temple compound dedicated to Shiva in Indonesia, built in the 10th century and a collection of Hindu Temples wholesomeness. History of course has it. Prambanan Temple being the other ultimate legend like Borobodur Temple and where your legs will receive the best exercise. A long walk in and out of the whole area and also wobbling your legs steep, not in uniformity solid stone steps climbing up and down from each individual temple to the other for seeking blessings and holiness from the different Hindu gods. Next in Prambanan Temple? You can remain within the compound for the minutes or hours as you wish and later, head to the museum via the garden lined by different shapes and sizes deities. Finally, make sure you turn around for taking a broad angle look of Prambanan Temple from the distance you are before exiting out. Meaningful ultimate.

Well maintained grounds and they are dedicated to preserving this amazing ancient wonder. Take some time to visit all the temples, not just the big main one - they each have their own unique character and story to tell, and you will find the smaller ones less crowded. The only negative experience was running the gauntlet of vendors at the exit. You always have to go through the gift shop to get out, no matter where you are in the world, but this was next-level insane, literally hundreds of market stalls trying to sell souvenirs.

Lovely temple complex in Central Java. Easy to get to by bus from Yogyakarta. Went in January and it is very very hot. Make sure to bring a hat, sunscreen and water. The foreigner tickets are less than $400k and you get a bottle of water. Yes it’s pricey for Indonesia but I don’t mind since the funds go for all the needed restoration work. Also hired a guide for 120k because I have no idea about any Hindu history. You can buy a combo ticket for Borobudur here. You get a discount for getting the tickets for both places. You can only get the discounted tickets at Prambanan. I went the opposite route and went to Borobudur first and didn’t realize they had a special. Both places are worth the visit. It takes 3 years to restore one small temple, so it will take them about 600 years to finish it up. There are hundreds of smaller temples. The large ones are amazing. The detail of the carvings is crazy. I happened to be almost as popular as the temples with the kids. Didn’t bother me. I don’t mind making them happy with pictures. The complex grounds also contain 3 more temple areas that are Buddhist. Walked over to them and only saw a few other people. It was nice to get away from the crowds, though it wasn’t crowded, and have some alone time at these special spiritual places.

It's the place which you must go if you're have any interest in historical building. This place is large, this place has some souvenir market and food market of course. This place are popular in Indonesia, so if you planned going here it will better if you go here not in vacation time. This place is hot, wearing a cap or umbrella may helping to avoid that. You will find a unique experience if you go here (that's happened to me, so I only guess about this). There's a night show which tells the story about this place too, I recommend to go here at night if you want to see it (I don't see it when I go here). Overall it was a good place to go if you take a trip to East Java.

The Prambanan temple is the largest Hindu temple of ancient Java, and the first building was completed in the mid-9th century. It was likely started by Rakai Pikatan as the Hindu Sanjaya Dynasty's answer to the Buddhist Sailendra Dynasty's Borobudur and Sewu temples nearby. Historians suggest that the construction of Prambanan probably was meant to mark the return of the Hindu Sanjaya Dynasty to power in Central Java after almost a century of Buddhist Sailendra Dynasty domination. The construction of this massive Hindu temple signifies that the Medang court had shifted its patronage from Mahayana Buddhism to Shaivite Hinduism. A temple was first built at the site around 850 CE by Rakai Pikatan and expanded extensively by King Lokapala and Balitung Maha Sambu the Sanjaya king of the Mataram Kingdom. According to the Shivagrha inscription of 856 CE, the temple was built to honor Lord Shiva, and its original name was Shiva-grha (the House of Shiva) or Shiva-laya (the Realm of Shiva).[5] According to the Shivagrha inscription, a public water project to change the course of a river near Shivagrha temple was undertaken during the construction of the temple. The river, identified as the Opak River, now runs north to south on the western side of the Prambanan temple compound. Historians suggest that originally the river was curved further to east and was deemed too near to the main temple.[citation needed] The project was done by cutting the river along a north to south axis along the outer wall of the Shivagrha Temple compound. The former river course was filled in and made level to create a wider space for the temple expansion, the space for rows of pervara (complementary) temples.

Wonderful Heritage. Lots of temples there. I would suggest people to get a local guide since they could explain the history and entire background of the whole place. They will definitely also increase your quality of visit. They know photo spots so that you will also have incredible pics with no to few people on the background with the main temple being seen fully. As a matter of fact, this site actually had around 240 temples though only 20 had been rebuilt by the government. The remaining is yet to be solved and built. One thing I can tell to you is that this place worth to be checked and seen. You will feel the ancient vibes and goosebumbs there.

As a foreign tourist, when you go to buy the entry tickets to these temples, be ready to get shocked. The entry ticket is exorbitantly priced, but believe me it is worth every penny you are paying. We were literally blown away by the beauty of these magnificent temples. Words are not enough to describe it. No matter how long you see and appreciate this beauty, you can never have enough of it. You should not miss it at all when in Yogyakarta. Watching sunset at these temples is the literally WOW..!! Check the pics. One smart tip: Buy the combined entry ticket for Prambanan and Borobudur temples. Both are super expensive, but combined you get some discount on it.

23/Aug: Old historical temple for tourist attraction. Nice for photo shots. Many have yet to restore after been destroyed by the earthquake. This place nay not be as famous as Borobudur, but it's good to visit after all one have arrived in Jogja. Recommended to visit early to avoid the crowd and not hot. Temple surroundings is clear of trees, thus not much shade for visitors There is tour guide for hire but there was no price list, that's the downside. I did not hire one, so no story telling. Upon exit, one have to go through the maze of shops similar to Borobudur, but not as aggressive like Borobudur. Overall, it was a good visit.

Another beautiful temple in Indonesia. Prambanan is one of the most famous temple that recommended to be visited while in Yogyakarta. Beautiful, majestic and full of historical arts, makes Prambanan easy to the eyes. There're another temple in Prambanan temple area, but since it's way too hot on sunny afternoon, I refrained from visiting another temple. Beware that since Prambanan located in highlands, it can suddenly rain pour on monsoon season even on sunny afternoon. Bring your own hat since there's no shade to cover from direct sunlight. Still, it's one of my happy experiences to visit Prambanan temple.

The temples itself are beautiful and amazing. The ticket pricing is absurd. I paid only 50k since I'm Indonesian yet foreign tourists had to pay 400k which is just ridiculous, insulting, and extortionate. Inside, guides would harrass us to try and sell their services. The exit is just a maze of little art shops. It's such a bummer that such an amazing spiritual temple is tainted by all this.

It really is a magical place. We visited this amazing temple during pandemic, so the site was pretty empty. It was so beautiful, some of them are still in complete ruins but you can still admire it. Please bring an umbrella or hat because it will get hot sometimes. I also will recommend their RP 10.000 train ride to see other temples in the area. I saw deers and some peacocks too. Their park is pretty clean and well-maintained We couldn’t get inside the temple during our visit, perhaps when this pandemic is over the visitor will be able to see inside the temple.

This is such an impressive part of Java history. The size & scale is breathtaking. Every conceivable stone surface has impressive carvings - the craftsmanship is admirable. Take time to sit under one of the trees and imagine what life was like here when the temple was in its hay day!!! The surrounding grounds are enormous. Very well maintained. Everything is very well laid out & signed. Plenty of cafe facilities etc Great experience I will not forget in a hurry!!!

I came back to this place after almost 1 decade! The 50k entry ticket is not too expensive compared to the extra care to preserve the preservation of this historic place even though I entered at a ticket price of 25k (students understand). The older this place the more beautiful. Prambanan is very well maintained, and extraordinary care. Since 2010, when you enter Prambanan Temple, you have to wear a batik sarong because it was indirectly a place of worship for Hindus in ancient times. Foreign tourists usually wear shorts. As a result, to respect Prambanan Temple as a place of worship, he was given a batik sarong

Temple’s are amazing to see but animal cruelty on site is completely unacceptable. After doing a circuit of the complex we came across an area with deer, cassowaries and peacocks which was really upsetting to see. Definitely concerns around animal welfare here with what looked like injured deer in dirty conditions, birds in tiny cages and all had little to no shade. People come here to see the UNESCO site, this treatment of animals is completely unnecessary, besides the point that there is actually plenty of space on site to give these animals a decent standard of living if it is insisted they remain there. Regarding the temples themselves, yes it is more expensive for foreigners to enter but be reminded that this is a UNESCO site and consider what you would pay if this was anywhere else in the world. There are 4 sites on this complex, the first is the biggest and main attraction for most, and whilst it is impressive we actually preferred the last as no-one else seems to bother going there so we pretty much had the site to ourselves. It is the least restored of the 4 but this didn’t bother us as it is a reminder of the history and also how impressive the restorations actually are. Overall we enjoyed our visit but the situation with the animals needs to change and also be aware that if there are groups of school children around the main site, as a foreigner you will likely be approached so they can ask you questions whilst being filmed for their school project. We got the local bus here rather than paying for tour etc which was easy enough with the direction of our homestay and much cheaper.

This is a place for those who like historical places.. Parking is easy at a specified area which is managed professionally. We paid IDR 10K for parking. The parking lot is located near the entrance and you can go to the public restroom in the parking lot by paying IDR 2K. Another restroom is available inside the area after entering. We didnt bring our kids with us since we thought they are restricted to enter Prambanan for not being vaccinated against CoVid yet. But apparently there were young aged children in the area. The ticket costed IDR 50K per person and included the entering to the museum. I spent only 2 hours inside the area since we were in a hurry.. but I could easily spend another couple hours. There are many temples (Buddha & Hindu) and although most are located in a specific area, you will need to walk a little to reach some others. It is very hot in the temple compound, therefore some ladies offer umbrellas for IDR 10K if you wish to rent one. If you plan to visit the temples located apart from the main compound, you will need to pass some greenery. I would advise you to use some mosquito repellent. 😀 The museum is very informative. I loved reading and seeing the artifacts displayed with descriptions. There is a mini zoo with some animals if you head to the exit, upon which locals will guide you through an area where you can buy souvenirs and local delicatessen before you reach the parking lot again.

Love this place. If you go to Jogja, you must at least visit one of the temples... You pay 50rb/person to get in. This place is more than just a temple. So much walking space. If you love leisure walks, this is the perfect place. Also they have some interesting photo spots. Theres also a place to buy souvenirs, and guess what? Its actually cheaper than souvenirs in Malioboro. So while youre here, get as much souvenirs as you can, to help out the sellers here. Also theres like some kind of space for festivals to be held here. So in that area, theres loads of food tents too. Interesting place. Worth going to if youre in Jogja.

No words or pictures can do justice to this temple. The architecture and pure ingenuity of the temples is beyond description. A spiritual experience par excellence. The restoration work is ongoing after the devastating earthquake that destroyed many of the temples. A must visit if you are in Yogyakarta. 👌

Clean, and the temple’s itself is so beautiful. Theres many tour guides will help you to the history of this temples. Theres more than 1000 temples in this complex. All the facilities is good and well maintained, but due to the covid protocols visitors cant enter inside the temples, but still can looking around.

Fantastic temple complex with plenty to see. Really enjoyed taking my time exploring the reconstructed structures across the grounds. The architecture is beautiful. You can buy a combo ticket for Borobudur aswell. Definitely worth a visit!

The ticket is a bit pricey but its worth it. Especially if you usually dont see these kinds of temples. There is quite a bit of walking if you want to see everything so be prepared. You can also enter some temples and see the inside. Ohh and you can feed the deer too. We got there from Yogyakarta by red bus line 1a, its very cheap. You have stores and market at the end.

The best temple here around, even better than Boroboudor, because actually there are 4 temples included in the same ticket and site, 1 hindú - prambaran and the others are buddhist... Huge site very walkable in a natural park with many facilities and pic nic areas

This temple should not be miss when you visit Yogyakarta. If you want to know the history, it's good to get a guide. If you just want to enjoy the area and see the details of the structure, it's okay to go explore alone. Sunset was very nice one should not miss!

Beautiful Hindus temples actively in used. The guided tour is recommended to get to know the panels better. The best time to visit is during sunset. But the ticket closed at 4.30. So u better plan ahead. We come from Borobudur at 2 and got here almost 4.15 due to the heavy traffic condition. There is a Hindus prayer at 4.45. We are lucky to catch the last batch up the main candi. This is a relatively new temples compared to those in other places in south east Asia. The altar and gods and goddesses figures are mostly still fully intact. Bring hats or umbrellas because it is very hot.

Come early so it won't feel hot, prepare for hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, or umbrella, you may bring your water bottle, but no food allowed. You have to walk about 3-5 mins from parking lot to gate/entrance. They have different gate for domestic and international tourists. You may buy the ticket on the spot or using travel apps in advance. There are different price for different attraction, like if you want to reach Ratu Boko temple. It takes 5-10 mins walk from the gate to reach Prambanan temple. The main stupa is so majestic, and there are guides who offer to guide you, and also there are just guides stand nearby the stupa to let you come or climb it. Routes are shown by them and signs are orderly put there to help you so you won't get lost. Clean places and there are many spots you can take pictures out. Also, I recommend you to come like 7 am and on weekday because it's very crowded on weekends and hot at 9 am. I didn't go to Ratu Boko so I got back to parking lot which took about 10 mins walk, and I had to pass the souvenir market first. I'm still amazed how they managed to make that temple hundreds years ago.

Prambanan is a 9th-century Hindu temple compound. It is really breathtaking and attractive. The entry price is high for foreigners, but you should definitely see it! You should visit ALL the 4 temples if you go there (most tourists skip the smaller temples). You can rent a tandem bike for 20k and go around the complex! Be prepared with hats and umbrellas if you visit between 11am-15pm

Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta is a cultural masterpiece that leaves a lasting impression. The intricately carved structures and towering spires showcase the rich history and architectural prowess of ancient Java. Exploring the temple complex is a journey through Indonesia's past, with each stone telling a story of cultural and religious significance. The sheer scale and beauty of Prambanan make it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and those seeking a profound connection with Indonesia's cultural heritage.

A delightful place to visit with a superb experience for the day. Prambanan Temple appears cleaner nowadays compared to my last visit around 2015. Engaged in exciting activities with the team, such as riding automatic scooters to explore the temple surroundings. Witnessing Hinduism practices provided rare and fascinating views. Lastly, the return route was conveniently short, just a 10-minute walk back to the park zone.

I came to jogja to feel indonesian traditional culture enough. I learned gamulan music in jogja before I visit here, and when I got here, always can hear adorable gamulan music from the speaker. The temple was pretty huge, and very beautiful on camera, but in fact too busy with too many visitors, cannot think and feel the temple's heritage or messeges due to the many of visitors. Everywhere was noisy with group visitors, hard to get photo without them The sun light was really direct on us, but not enough place to hide of it, The area where the statue was located inside the tower was so dark that you couldn't see an inch in front of you, and it was full of a disgusting smell, so I had to move quickly to get there. There were many pieces that were still being restored, and it was unfortunate that it felt like they were being neglected rather than being managed with care overall. After looking around the temple for about an hour, I was so exhausted from the direct sunlight, too high and narrow stairs, and the disgusting smell that I returned to my accommodation without looking around any further.

The best place to visit in Yogyakarta One of my wishlist to visit Prambanan Temple. This place so gorgeous .. luxurious .. Even though the weather is very hot, I am very happy to be able to visit this place (thanks God for the opportunity🥹) For domestic tourist, you can buy the ticket via online (it’s only 50k). Don't forget to bring an umbrella and use sunscreen ☀️ You can also ask the tour guide to explain the history (and be your photographer)

This is an amazing 8th / 9th century Hindi collection of temples that must be visited. Prambanan Temple is just a part of the wider Hindi / Buddhist complex. The stone reliefs depict the Hindu pantheon, legends, and interestingly birds that are not native to the area, demonstrating broad trade networks during that time. It can be visited in an hour, but to appreciate the site, half a day is needed. But more amazing than the temple was the hospitality of the locals...especially the school kids...who found any excuse to take a picture with a foreigner and make our visit as enjoyable as it could be

Prembanan Temple is an example of how prominent Hinduism has been in Java once. Prembanan is a temple which holds the history which dates back to thousand years. The temple was partly destroyed by the earth quakes which rocks Java occasionally; but UNESCO did great work to try to reshape it to its previous glory. The temple showcases the glowing symbol of Hinduism in Java once. It is so great to see how a government try to keep its architectural wonders in its full glory. Prembanan is just 16 Kilometres away from the heart of Yogyakarta.

This was back in 2019 shot this and edit. The place itself is already super amazing. My advice for photographer is to go eariler and familiarize yourself with whole of the temple and where to get the best shots. As there was really a lot of great shots there. BY THE WAY THE TEMPLE IS HUGE. No kidding i thought it was small but in fact it was bigger then what expected. Oh yes when in such place you would expect to see a lot of sellers selling items if you want to buy it cheaper my advice would be the dollar shop and not from them.

This was also on our bucket list and we were delighted to be able to visit this place. The temple buildings are spread across a large compound and they have restored around five buildings. They are truly impressive and you cannot help but have a sense of awe and wonder. There are beautiful carvings and statues inside, and the steps are pretty manageable. On the day that we visited, there were a group of tourism students who provided a free short tour. There is a museum onsite, and also photo ops like swings and riding a bike across a wire. If you are planning to visit Borobudur, you should get the combined ticket, which gives you a discount.

Very good and well preserved great piece of history. This tourist attraction, somehow very well managed, from entry up to the exit gate. Unfortunately there is a souvenir market after the exit gate, which are not well maintained, so this condition is like a two world apart.

[07/2020] Officially Prambanan Temple entrance ticket prices for adult domestic visitors are priced at Rp 50,000 per person. As for children visitors, the price of admission is priced at Rp. 25,000 per person. For foreign tourists, adult visitors are priced at Rp. 350,000 per person. As for child visitors, the price of admission to the Prambanan Temple is priced at Rp 210,000 per person. For you pedestrians, please be patient because if you walk from the main entrance (near the Al Muttaquun Mosque) to the temple complex it is quite draining. highly recommended to bring supplies of drinking water and snacks. coincidentally me and his entourage arrived at the temple complex in the afternoon. so we were lucky to get a very beautiful sunset moment. before maghrib, the temple complex will be entirely closed.

  • 1/5 Olia N. 4 years ago on Google
Small and completely not interesting temple complex. You can go around the whole territory at a slow pace in 45 minutes, while stopping to take a photo, and numerous selfies with local tourists (there are a huge number of them). And the most unpleasant thing... You have to pay 25$ for entry just because you are white!!! (there’s really nothing to look at for 25$). I have not met such racism in any Asian country. I do not recommend this complex to visit at all. And don’t be fooled by the enthusiastic reviews of local experts because they paired less than 3$ entrance fee. And I think this is an honest price for this place. There’s simply nothing to pay more.

It is recommended that if you come here, don't rain anymore because there are many puddles in the area around the Prambanan temple. it's a loss if you haven't visited here. Wkwkwk

A beautiful temple complex worth to visit, it might not as massive as its sister, The Borobudur, but it's also one Unesco's World Heritage Site which was build in the 9th century! It is the largest Hindu temple site in Indonesia and the second largest in South Asia and it was also well known as Candi Roro Jonggrang. If you happen to visit around May to October please go watch the open stage Sendratari Ramayana, I am telling you it's such an interesting traditional musical drama under the full moon that you wouldn't wanna missed ;)

(Translated by Google) 📌 PRAMBANAN TEMPLE is the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia which was built around 850 AD. This temple is also called Roro Jonggrang Temple which is dedicated to Trimurti, the three main Hindu gods, namely Brahma as the creator god, Vishnu as the preserver god, and Shiva as the god of destruction. If you go through the Solo - Jogjakarta highway, you will pass the Prambanan Temple Complex. Getting here, you can use various modes of transportation, for example the Trans Jogja Bus, inter-city public bus or train even though you have to connect again with other modes. Its beauty and splendor are undoubtedly the result of the work of our predecessors. The entrance ticket is very affordable but the benefits you get are many such as seeing a beautiful panorama, relaxing or learning about its history.

Prambanan is Avery beautiful & magical temple complex. It is a huge compound, so be prepared for a long walking. And the temples are full of carving & ornaments so it would be nice to spend more time to pay attention on detail. & if you have no slight knowledge about the history of Prambanan, you better hire a tour guide that you may find right after you enter the entrance gate. It costs you IDR 50k for adult, IDR 25k for children under 10yo for entrance fee. The surrounding yard are green and breezy but at the temple complex, it is quite hot at noon. Please bring an umbrella or you can rent it at entrance gate.

Prambanan temple is HINDU temple in Yogjakarta, registered by UNESCO as a world heritage. It is located at east side of this city. Enterance fee is more expensive for foreigners. Temple area is really big like giant park. They have 3 big temples for Hindu’s gods. The area is large so temple looks like small, but once seeing in front of temple, will recognize that temple is really big. Also temple is consisted of many status, so beautiful and significant. Walking this temple area, could feel that it is really nice and cozy place that makes mind full if peaces. And if you have time, recommand to visit here at afternoon and enjoy sun set. It is so beautiful. But it is reall hot in there, not enough site to take a rest during touring.

Easy to access, large parking area, too many shops and peddlers. Can be overcrowded during holidays, especially on sunsets. Hopefully soon there's a restoration plan to build back the marvelous heritage.

It is a very popular temple, and if you are a foreigner, you will be as much an exhibit to the locals as the temple itself. Get ready for requests for a picture together. We were lucky enough to be there when the local school kids were brought in for a tour and we took pictures with two classes with all of them together and each one individually ) it was fun. The temple complex itself is open to the public almost all the way through. Don't forget to take water, there will be nowhere to buy it on the grounds, you can buy it in the stores around the perimeter of the park. There is an opportunity to rent an electric scooter. Minimum time is 15 minutes. It is convenient to get to other temple buildings, such as Sewu.

A MUST if you are around. The temples are astonishing, the scenery is amazing. This is truly one of a kind. In my opinion it is even more interesting than the Borobudur temple. Be aware that you need at least 3 hours if you want to visit everything, because of the distances between certain temples. 🛕

Come back here after exactly 20 years! The older this place the more beautiful it gets. Prambanan is really well-maintained, unfortunately, i came there on Monday where the main temple is under maintenance. But it didn't lessen the beauty of this place to see. The 50k entrance ticket is not too pricey compared to the extra maintenance to preserve this historical place preservation. Hope still can see you again in another 30 or 40 years later.

Candi Prambanan is an absolute marvel. This ancient Hindu temple complex took my breath away with its intricate stone carvings and towering spires. But what made my visit even more special was the Prambanan Jazz Festival 2023 happening simultaneously. The fusion of music and the temple's majestic backdrop was simply enchanting. The organizers did a fantastic job, and the atmosphere was magical. Overall even without any event happening this place is still a masterpiece and a must visit when you visit Yogyakarta.

Temple was built since 850CE. More than 1.1 thousand years ago. I must admit that Prambanan Temple is a lot tougher to be built, a lot more sophisticated, detailed, crafted sculpture compared to Borobudur temple. Again, it's definitely a must to visit if u r in Yogyakarta. Cyclist/ tourer, a must to visit place before you die, no kidding. U will understand how many Hindu gods exist since 7th century. Cumulatively, it's about 330mil gods. Prambanan Temple, 250 temple building, were the collections of most of the gods. One of the most holiest temple for Hindu followers. Also, understand how the Volcano, earthquake and political power change in 16th century that destroyed major part of that 250 temple building.

Many ruins. Some intact and others fell apart since it's very old, over a thousand years. Beautifully sculptured animals and people. Good workmanship. It's located in Yogyakarta Special Region. A lot of visitors from other countries were there too. Good to take photos there. A lot of local guide who can speak many languages if you want to hire them and listen to the story of the temple. Ample parking areas.

I LOVE the Prambanan temple. I personally think it’s better than the Borobudur temple by a long shot. The temples are stunning and you can enter them! How lovely. The grounds are quite massive and they have a shuttle bus to transport between some sites, but the schedule isn’t clear nor reliable. There is a museum, but there are no English translations available. I do feel the $60 USD entry fee could’ve been better delegated to address these things. However, it’s still worth every penny!

The largest Hindu temple in Indonesia. It has strategic location near Jogja-Solo road. The main temple consist of three main temples, they're Syiwa, Brahma and Wisnu temple. It's also surrounded with Nandi temple, etc. The architectures are amazing with some relief that tells you about the story of ramayana. There's also Lumbung Temple, Bubrah Temple and Sewu Temple. You can visit all of them by foot or by renting bicycle. The entrance ticket is included in the Prambanan temple. For domestic tourist you need to pay 50K IDR and foreign tourist around 3xxK IDR (not sure yet) hahaha At certain night you can see Ramayana dance but the entrance fee is sold separated.

Amazing visit to Prambanan temple… you stand amongst ancient energy and cannot help but be moved by the architecture, planning and construction of these moments. A tip it is far to walk from the ticket office, so take a golf cart, if you do take a golf cart make sure your driver waits for you! It can be very crowded so go during the week or quiet time.

Very impressive! Not ideal on a rainy day (water doesnt drain) but still worth it! A larger area to cover to you'll need +- 2h if you want to see everything
