Pura Mandhara Giri Semeru Agung is located at the foot of Mount Semeru. Precisely at Jalan Serma Dohir, District Senduro, Lumajang District – East Java. This is the oldest temple in Indonesia. The location of Mount Semeru's feet is comparable to that of mite about the removal of Mount Mahameru from India to Java Island, it deals with the history of the name of Mount Semeru, the highest mountain in Java Island. People say this is the largest hindu temple in south east asia. As a visitor who is not a hindu, i was only allowed to stroll around the outer parts of the complex. It is enough for me though. The gate is tall and standing looking out to city's landscape. It's beautiful! You can easily feel like you're in bali the moment you step in this temple. It's beautiful and well maintained. The people are welcoming even though you're just a tourist from different religion. But please remember that this is a place of worship, so please enjoy it with respect. :)
