Visited on our way to Branson and since we didn't get to see everything after three hours, we drove back for a second day of visiting. So much to see despite the battle only lasting six hours. The electric map of the battle was very informative since we didn't watch the 28 minute video. Staff in the visitor center are very helpful in answering any questions that we had. The Ray house was a great stop on the tour with the volunteer guide telling us the history of the Ray family and what they experienced on that day. Appreciated seeing pictures of how the grounds look that day. A definite visit if you love America history!

The property is beautiful and they have the park set-up very nicely to stop, take pictures, and learn about the various points in the battle that took place there. They also have some days that they shoot cannons and muskets and their historians do a great job teaching about the weaponry used in the civil war and about conditions during the period and specifically at the Wilson's Creek battle. Also lots of great walking, biking, and horseback riding trails.

It's simply amazing and well done. The visitors center was redone and so much to see. You start with a movie and then look at the displays. Guns and artifacts are everywhere. An interactive battlefield was a highlight. You have a film of a person shotting the guns from the day to see the differences. You could spend at least 4 hours reading and looking around. The staff is very helpful. Then you go to the battlefield and see history in front of you. It's very easy to see. Volunteers at the house with lots of information. Very well done.

This is a great spot for a historic walk or a morning run. The trail itself is a perfect 5 mile loop which makes it easy for runners to track distances and tackle a more hilly terrain. If you’re looking for a scenic walk with streams and interesting pieces of history, I would check this out while you’re in Springfield!

A really nice National Park. A lot of history and information to take in along with beautiful views and bountiful wildlife. Plenty of nicely maintained walking trails to different exhibits. A great place to bring the family for the day with an opportunity to learn a little American history in the local area. Dogs are welcome on the trails, rules say they mist be leashed.

Unveil the Pages of History at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield! Embark on a journey through time and immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of our nation's past at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. As our family stood amidst the rolling hills and lush landscapes, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of awe and reverence for the sacrifices made on this hallowed ground. Every step you take in these hallowed fields echoes with the valor and courage of those who once stood here, shaping the course of history. The energy is palpable, as if the very air carries whispers of their stories, reminding us of the strength that runs through the veins of our great country. The stunning natural beauty of Wilson's Creek is a testament to the resilience of both the land and its people. The sweeping vistas and tranquil meadows serve as a serene backdrop to the tales of heroism and sacrifice that unfolded here. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply seeking a place of reflection, Wilson's Creek National Battlefield has something truly special to offer. Stand on the ground where history was shaped, close your eyes, and let the whispers of the past transport you to a different era. I encourage each and every one of you to visit this remarkable site and allow yourselves to be inspired by the spirit of unity, bravery, and determination that permeates the air. Let's honor the past by stepping into it, and let it serve as a reminder that the strength of a nation lies in the resilience of its people.

If you like history, I highly recommend coming here. It looks like there used to be a charge, but now there's not. There are some great trails to walk on, and some great history to see and read about. We happened to go on a day they were doing cannon demonstrations. That was really awesome. The museum is also fantastic.

Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, What a great visitor center, a very large exhibit area that you will forsure learn something new no matter who you are. They also have a large gift shop with many great items, from stickers to historical books. It was much more than I expected. We live in a place that is rich with history and in some cases unfortunate events, however it’s all apart of our past, a part of our history right here in our back yard. I challenge you to step out and learn something about who we are and the many steps that lead us to become who we are today.

Drove up from Branson to check out the battlefield. The visitors center is newer and done really well. We watched the 28 minute film which explained a lot and then toured the visitor center. We then did the 5 mile loop. It would have been fun on bicycles and reminds me a bit Cade’s cove in the smokies. We drove the loop and walked to the historic spots. Some were neat and others not much to see. Definitely stop at least at the ray house and the bloody hill battlefield. Nice guided tour of the Ray house and learned a lot. Be sure to check yourself for small ticks. We found several on each of us on our time there. Bring some water and walking shoes as well.

This was my first time going to a real American battlefield. I was impressed by the park. I had read that this park was haunted. We brought an EMF reader, and we received spikes up to 82. I enjoyed the park for its historical experience. We did get a weird picture. Was it a ghost? Honestly, I don't know. Sure, it looks like something to me.

It was a unique experience going here. The silence of the place is almost eerie after learning about all the things that happened there. The flowers along the fields where the battles happened leave you wondering how something so beautiful could come after something so tragic. In understanding history it had to happen for it did happen, yet it was so peaceful and dogs are allowed. I choose to drive through and take the dogs out periodically throughout the park, which I am glad I did, the rest of the time it was quick stops to read the signs and admire the field before me. I am excited to go back and take some of the trails they have, also even if you drive through, wear comfortable clothes and shoes because there is walking involved.

Was a very civil time. Get it... civil. Ha. Anywho, experience was spot on and the grounds were well maintained. Watch the film people it's not Michael Bay but it's pretty good.

We did the driving tour and then the visitor center. The movie is a must see, it helps put together the event as it unfolds. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. What a great learning experience for kids and adults.

Do yourself a favor and type the actual address into your phone or GPS to find this park. Otherwise you will wind up wondering around for hours looking and driving down dead end paths. However the park is well worth the visit. I would highly recommend it for the history sake alone.

Of course five stars. It’s a National Battlefield! There’s a small visitor center, but packed with quality relics and interesting information on the second battle of the Civil War. They also have a short documentary on the battle that I suggest you check out prior to heading out to the battlefield loop. I also checked out the library and spoke with Jeff Patrick the Head Librarian who provided me useful information on the battle and the boundaries of said battle so I could legally do some metal detecting in the area.

I love anything Civil War related and this place was amazing. The park ranger was very nice and very informative. The museum was really cool. Then there is a 5 mile driving tour with stops along the way that you can get out and look around. It was very cool. It started raining not even halfway through the drive but we didn’t care we got out and looked around anyway. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Our grandsons are homeschooling for the first time this year (2nd & 6th grade) so when we decided to attend a St. Louis Cardinals game, we planned a couple National Parks along the way for some History lessons. The Park Attendant that was working the front desk was so friendly and explained a lot of history about Wilson’s Creek to us. We enjoyed the park film and the museum at the Visitor’s Center. They have a very large firearms collection that was interesting to look at. We walked up to the Ray House and also a few of the hikes: The Fort Smith Battery, Price’s Headquarters and we ended very abruptly after hiking the East Overlook. When we got to our car after East Overlook, we noticed we had 100’s of ticks on us. We spent the next hour trying to get all of them off of our shoes, socks and clothes. We did not make any more stops until we got back to the Visitor Center. Once inside, we explained to the Park Ranger about the ticks and she informed us that she always lets people know they have had an increase in ticks and chiggers this year and has Off that people can use before starting the hikes. Very disappointed that the first guy we spoke to did not mention this to us as we had explained we were heading out to the hikes so we could complete the Junior Ranger books and receive our badge… My daughter had a few chigger bites along with ticks and our grandsons were eat up with chigger bites… We were still pulling ticks off several hours later. The battlefield itself and park are very nice, with lots of history!! Just make sure you have plenty of Off with Deet before going on the hiking trails!!!

Admittance was FREE❤️ A+ Museum and grounds become very sacred to you, when you realise the life loss there and the significance of the battle being fought. We went to go back to see the film (some reason was not showing). We appreciated things being very handicap friendly, even the Ray House had a paved walk all the way to it.

What a wonderful place to learn about a terrible part of American history. The museum was incredible. A true must see for anyone traveling to the Springfield, Missouri area. Whether you walk the trails or drive through it is a great place for all. They gave my 11 year old nephew a bunch of badges for filling out a pamphlet/booklet that they provide. It is a very interactive place for kids as well as adults.

Not a lot to see outdoors but nice driving loop anyway with a walking/bike path. One house from the battle remains, tour available there. Plenty of civil war history and weaponry inside, including an interesting movie and topographical rendering of the battle that my 11 year old appreciated.

We have been here several times and we always enjoy it. There are great trails and it's loaded with history of course. This trip was for their Luminary Tour. The battlefield is lit up with lanterns that represent the wounded and the fallen. There are testimonials given by both the Union and the Confederate at all 3 stops. Very well done.
