Nice park with two beaches, pavilion with bathrooms and bottle filling stations, 9-11 memorial, picnic/grilling areas, and areas for fishing. Great for kids/families with gentle waves in a sound beach. Beach is a little rough on bare feet with lots of shells.

7.1.23 Our 1st time here. Free parking for CT residents. We parked on the West beach area and walked to the Pavillion and East Beach to scope it all out. There are many public restrooms and changing areas which were very clean and well ventilated. Many picnic areas for folks to sit in the shade, have a cook out, etc. The beach sand itself was a bit rocky so I suggest beach shoes. I thought the water was gross so I didn't go in but my bf said it was also a bit rocky where he went swimming. The beach itself was wonderful and quiet. We did enjoy a beautiful sunny day there.

It is nice but shells , geese poop and rocks are everywhere, due to shell my9 year old cousin cut her left foot. Water is not clean, if you like tides, then this beach is not for you. Other than nice view . Water is cold also.

We love it here! It is so peaceful and very relaxing! Tons of parking. You have to wear swim shoes because in some areas in the water there are rocks as well as little se shells on parts of the beach near the water.

Very nice park to visit with family. Huge park with a beach . They have several huge parking lots. Nice and clean restroom facilities. They also have a 9/11 memorial. Space for BBQ. Usually busy in the weekends. You have to pay in the entry (not a big amount). Overall good to spend the whole day.

Great beach day! This beach had everything for an amazing beach trip. Parking was very easy and close to the beach. There was a ton of life guards on duty. Two concession stands easily accessible. The outdoor one took almost 40 mins to make 2 fries a cheeseburger and a hot dog. Awesome little nature center with live creatures and helpful employees. Also a coloring station for young kids and a bunch of free games . Cant wait to come back!

A few years back I did not like swimming here because the Big Dung Bird poop covered the entire lawn space and made it difficult to walk from the parking lot to the water! Yesterday my friend and I loved every minute of our visit! We found hundreds of the most beautiful sea shells - bright orange, yellow, green and white! We washed them and have them temporarily stored until we buy a tererium. So nice and sunny day at the beach. And the memorial for 9/11 is beautiful- I lost 2 college team mates that day. Thank you.

Beautiful place with 9/11 memorial for Connecticut victims , won’t be busy , ample parking , lot of trail for walking , jogging , running . Setup for outdoor barbecue. Sunrise would be nice here. Of course no waves in beach any other CT beaches due to Long Island blocking Atlantic Ocean …

Great park and beach. Even during off season is worth visiting and take a nice walk along the beach and the multiple trails. Dogs allowed plenty parking and free for CT plates. 11/9 memorial inside with a beautiful view of the bay.

Great park overlooking Long Island sound. Great for walking on beach alone, with friends or family or leashed dogs. Fee to enter from Memorial Day to Labor Day! I go off season for free!

This park is one of my family’s favorites. It’s quite, clean and the staff courteous, friendly and accommodating. I recently had a birthday party there for my daughter and the following staff members made a memorable impression on us. They assisted us with trash, offered courteous warning when the kids attempted to swim at the wrong side of the beach and pretty much where there for us. Alex, Liam, Hannah, Dan and Jen. Thank you for being awesome!

Great beach, clean, out door showers available to rinse off, parking is a very short walk, and it's not usually packed on weekdays in the summer. Bring sand shoes, the shells here are always rough.

Although it was pretty cold and windy when we went, I really enjoyed my visit to Sherwood Island State Park. The views were great and it was a nice and low-key walk without a lot of people around. A nice quiet walk is always a plus.

If you live in NY but want to bring your family to a nice beach without the fighting, cursing and littering associated with (some) of today's youths then its more than worth the hour drive to come to Sherwood Island Beach in Westport CT. Bought the wife and daughter up here on a Tuesday (come during the week to avoid the usual rush on weekends) nice peaceful crowd and ample space. We did a little BBQ for lunch , packed it back up and headed for the beach which is literally across the road from the grills. $15 dollars for out of town residents, but they take cash, debit or credit. Ample parking available and cannot forget the Nature Center for the enthusiasts. This Park is very clean, has Rangers patrolling the parking lot routinely, and offers the most peaceful atmosphere to could ask for in the summer. Vending machines, showers, and restrooms located in the same house. People here are very friendly and like to wave, so wave back and enjoy. The beach is very clean however be sure to bring water shoes for the little ones as the shells can be sharp on the sand. This is one of the best beaches around and for all that it has to offer you'll won't mind sitting in traffic.

Pretty cool place! And free for ct residences as long as you have a ct plate! Hate how you get kicked out by security 30 minutes before sunset while others are still having a BBQ picnic. But the place is beautiful. But honestly. Instead of kicking out people who are walking about, taking photos, start asking the people who are having picnics still cooking and partying listening to music. The views are spectacular though! Lots to see and walk! But enjoy it before sunset because the security here will push hard to make you leave. Threatening to give us tickets if they don't leave in ten minutes. Sir.... Relax. I could be outta here in five minutes. Why are you asking me three times to leave as I continue to take photos of my friends, as we are moving to the car? Worry about the families who are still partying! 😂. Oh the rc airplane flight area is awesome! Watching people fly is pretty cool! Don't go here if you want to enjoy a sunset. They'll kick you out 30 minutes before. And don't listen to Google. They say park closes at 830 but they started kicking everyone out by 7. Dumb.

I first came to this park when I lived in Westport in the 70's. Coming back I am reminded just what a gem of a park this is. A mile of beaches, picnic areas to support hundreds of visitors, changing areas and showers to rinse the sands off and lots of nature to be observed.

Wow..such a lovely beach, very peaceful, plenty of seagulls just hanging around, parking on a weekday is $15.00 for a Non CT vehicle...our first time there. It was awesome. Real family friendly atmosphere. Food area needs to be updated, not a big selection of food (pricey for junk food) no lifeguards on duty the day we went. No waves, saw plenty of children with paddle boards, floatation devices allowed. I grew up in Coney Island beach and those items were not allowed. Wear water shoes really rocky and broken shells all over

A beautiful spot. My son and I brought my puppy there for her last outing before she transitioned to forever peace. We all loved it there.

If you are an avid drone flyer there are no fly restrictions per B4UFLY. But before you do, always check because things do change. This is a beautiful beach and the park is very family oriented.

If you want to see one of the most beautiful sunsets, welcome to Sherwood Island. Also a good place for a picnic, the beach, for swimming I advise you to have water shoes.

Nice sandy beach, rocky on the west side. Not many people on a Tuesday. Free for CT residents. Plenty of parking. Not sure how the bathrooms inside the pavilion were.

Wonderful state park with beaches, for fishing and swimming as well as a nature center which can be explored by birders and nature lovers looking to learn about the natural habitat of the surrounding area. Plenty of parking for cars or bikes, and clean bathrooms.
