If I could give this hospital a Zero I would. On March 20th I took my son who is Diabetuc type 1 to the ER Department. I explained to the registration personnel about his condition and that he was vomiting uncontrollably. He was lethargic and I had to get a wheelchair for him. They never administered a glucose test or took his Blood Pressure. They only took his temp because of Covid protocol. I kept repeating to the registration personnel that he was Type one and they continued to ignore me. His condition continued to worsen and I decided to take him to Hackensack University Medical Center and they rushed him to a critical care unit. His glucose was over 700 and he had pneumonia and he was in the ICU for several days. St Jospehs had the nerve to send us a bill for sitting in the waiting room for almost 2 hours. He was never seen by a doctor but yet an ER doctor billed his insurance and they paid. ....FRAUD ....FRAUD ...FRAUD. ..FRAUD...If you love your family please don't go to StJospehs Hospital. They only care about money. It's a shame that they are a Catholic Hospital UPDATE. This is how bad this hospital is after not giving medical attention to my son and sending a bill for services they never rendered. They said that they can't check for a glucose reading without a Dr's order yet when I arrived at Hackensack Hospital that's the first thing they do and rushed him to a triage unit I get a letter with a specific time stating they called me but I had already left which is false because I was there at the time they stated. They can't even lie correctly. They actually admitted I had left their faculty. Lol. Yet Cigna paid a Dr Patel $525 for an invisible patient.

I really don't know where to begin with this review. My husband was sent to the hospital because he has mental issues that I don't want to go too deep into. Within less than a day of him being in the hospital I received a call telling me he had to go, that he could not stay at St. Joseph's. I let them know how difficult and dangerous it would be for me to take him back. From that point on I have no idea of just how many people from the hospital I spoke to about my situation. More social workers than I can accurately count, and many people who never actually told me exactly what they did and how they would help. Not that it mattered as not one of these people did anything to help; not Erica, not Vince, not Priscilla, or any of the countless others I spoke to in less than two weeks my husband was at St. Joseph's. Oh and I could only speak to most of these people when they actually called me, I rarely got anyone to pick up their phones when I called them. I had to constantly leave messages and hope they would call me back. The complete lack of communication between all these people is astonishing, none know what the other is doing and what is going on with a patient, all they care about is getting them out of the hospital. No one shows any actual concern about what may happen when the patient leaves and whether it is safe for them to leave. At this moment my husband still needs treatment and help, and I feel hopeless. St. Joseph's University Medical Center did nothing to help us, and all I have to look forward to is what will likely be a huge bill. Avoid this hospital at all costs.

If i could give the pediatric ER a zero, i would. They simply don't care about sick babies or families at St. Joseph's. We brought our baby there a few nights ago and left after 4 hours of sitting in a filthy, uncomfortable waiting room full of other sick babies and their families who were also not being helped while the reception and staff acted indifferently as if it was just another day at work. After many hours of waiting, we got desperate and were able to book an appointment with an outside pediatrician from our phones, scheduled for only a few hours later, so we decided to leave. When we left, we were told that it would have likely been another few hours before we were seen by a doctor. What a disgrace. St. Joseph's had been the go-to hospital for me and my family for generations but we will never set foot in that dump ever again.

Hospital bed is really bad with more depth and ups. Person admitted for delivery suffered more pain due to this. Patient relationship was not helpful on bed and room. Room and service by nurse was also not good, except one or two nurses. We planned for different hospital. Unfortunately due to one of our doctor referred doctor over here for a visit and he told to admit. Specialist doctors were good. Other than that it’s poor service. We had very good insurance, over internet it was mentioned modern room, but we were not told about it during admission and got old room with all old stuffs.

It sickens me that I have to even put a star, my dear 76-year old mother was EUTHANIZED by this hospital Sep, 6, 2019. This hospital does NOT care for the elderly, in fact anyone who is elderly and infirm will be put in DANGER if they are brought to this hospital, St. Joseph's cares nothing for the older population and it is not advisable to bring ANYONE to this hospital regardless of their age, but that population fares far worse. Suffice to say I don't think you can find one human being in this hospital. The people who work here are monsters and if you say anything the security guards and the "police" will violently bully you and intimidate you. I do not know how a place like this is still allowed to operate. If you see all of the previous reviews it is not hard to see that this place fails in every way to be a place of healing and does not meet ANY standard of care. I was not even aware my mother was being taken to St. Joseph's and I did not know the nightmare that would await me there. The hospital kept me from my mother and did not seem to know that she was a dialysis patient, when I notified them of that they removed me from the hospital and banned her from having any and all visitors so I had to call for updates. St. Joseph's LIED to me and I did not know that my mother was not being fed FOR WEEKS! The doctor was also giving my mother abnormally high doses of fentanyl without my knowledge or consent. When I finally saw her, I can find no other words to describe her than a living corpse, she had not been fed in THREE weeks, her neck was bloody and she was gasping for air. I was kept from my mother's bedside and I could not even be there when she passed away. I could not be by mother's bedside, they were not being truthful about her condition and they robbed me of my mother and the remaining time I had with her. Absolute demons! Hospital of Horrors! Shut this place down!

The emergency room (doctor and especially the nurses) are disgusting and rude. They didn’t even check up on my mom who has been in pain for 12 hours straight. I wish I can get the names of those miserable people. The surgeons did great. But the nurse and pediatrician are rude and unprofessional

Theses dominican teenagers don't belong here at this time cause it's very dangerous for the elderly. This is not a bar for teenagers to entertain themselves only for the people who are sick in the hospital. This hospital need plenty of protect on the hospital windows cause you could see everything clear from here. Theses young teenagers think that the hospital is a bar texting on there phones at night and looking at the doctors going back and fourth to put the chairs like this and all doors need a better lock for the future. Theses teenagers should stay outside not come in the hospital and chill it's only for the sick people and I know it's not easy to work in the hospital. Theses teenagers think this hospital is to hang out they don't belong here at this hour at midnight. This is so inappropriate look what the Dominican teenagers are doing in the hospital. This hospital building should not be a hospital anymore this hospital building should be broking down people are not doing there job here and this should be a brand new high school it should be call St James College in Paterson NJ and it will be only the teenagers that live in this area and this high school should allow uniform and pants and the lunch room the students should bring there school lunch ID only and it will be nice for the brand new students that enter to that brand new high school and instead of books they will have computers and tablets in every room and they could have a water fountain in the front and remove the parking lot and have the parking lot in the other side better and this St. James College should also have cops to keep an eye on the students in the school.

This is by far the absolute worst hospital ever! if I could give zero stars, I would have. My elderly father was transported to this hospital after sustaining an injury to his hand. The trauma staff rushed him to surgery but only to stop the bleeding, according to speaking to the orthopedic physician the next day he blamed it on the hospital's staff incompetency for not calling him to operate on the same day, rather my dad had to stay another night in that hell hole to actually fix the damage. Since my father was transported to the hospital and for 2 full days we could not get anyone to provide us with a status on his condition or the extent of his injuries, every nurse we see, tells us the obvious, he cut his hand, and instructed, every time, any further information or for any questions we have, we must speak to a doctor but that doctor never showed up. Not until the next day at 8pm when his surgery was finally scheduled that we got to speak to the most arrogant and demeaning doctor ever, who couldn't even answer 90% of our questions or give us a clear status of the extent of injuries or what the plan is to fix the damage, apparently the doctor was going in the operating room blindly, have not review any of the patient charts or test, x-rays or CAT scan results, instead his understanding of the patient condition was solely based on what the hospital staff had provided him. We, the family and my father, the patient were treated very poorly by most of the hospital staff, specifically the staff on the 4th floor and orthopedic team, most of the doctors and nurses had zero bedside manners, my father's diabetic condition was ignored and poorly managed, he's actually very fortunate that nothing serious happened due to mismanagement of his condition during his stay. The hospital apparently has only one (1) endocrinologist who informed us that the nurses on that floor are not skilled to treat this condition or understand insulin application/intake. The hospital staff acted unprofessionally and in a discriminatory manner towards my father due to his age, ethnicity and disability. They lacked compassion, patience and knowledge. They were more concerned about stepping on doctor's toes than the patient's condition, to the extent that they lied about having more than one orthopedic specialist just so the main physician assigned to the patient is not offended. Showed little to no respect, the nurses were impatient and lacked compassion, the doctors had zero bed manners. Even the hospital's own staff had nothing good to say about the facility. At the end of the day and after a great struggle, we found out that the 3-day of what seemed to be a mandatory stay in the hospital was in fact not necessary at all, the hospital just wanted to cash in on a big fat check from the insurance company, and if it wasn't for fighting they would've made him stay even longer. Beware and if you have the choice avoid going to St. Joseph's if you value the life and safety of yourself and your loved ones. We were fortunate enough to have a medical professional advocate on our side, otherwise, I believe our loss would have been a lot worse.

I don’t recommend this hospital at all. If you have a sick child your best bet is to go anywhere else but here. My son had a fever this morning around 3am I take him to the St Joe’s . I believe she is the head nurse of the pediatric emergency. She was really rude and very unprofessional. She was upset because she was calling out for my son. They had all the patients on the far right around 40 people waiting. There was a gentleman causing a scene with the police officers and hospital security extremely loud. I made her aware you can’t hear anything from over there she continued to be unprofessional and upset that she called out for me like 4 or 5 times. I had to repeat myself and found myself going back and forth with her. And I stopped to tell her my son is sick and to just check him. This lady has no manners and extremely rude. If she doesn’t like what she does for a living, she should find something else something with no customer service. Honestly I didn’t even let her finish. I grabbed my son and went to another hospital. This will be the last time I will go there.

If I could say 0 stars I would. Don’t ever come to this hospital. I’ve watch people who were bleeding be left in the waiting room. People with broken bones left in the waiting room. I’ve gone through 15 hour waits just sitting there in pain and so tired I wanted to cry. Please knock this building down and torturing people. Worst place ever in history. I’m never going back there. I’ll catch a bus to a different hospital. I’d be home before anyone who comes here. 6

If I could give this less stars I would. We were in the pediatric waiting room for hours. Kids were throwing up, crying, broken bones, Covid. No one being attended to. People coming in from the ambulance just to sit in a waiting room. Very sad that this is the kind of service this hospital has. Negative stars!

I used to speak so highly of this hospital a very long time ago but now they are not at all even meeting the basic needs of their patients. I received terrible care during my L&D experience from the attending doctor, Dr. Barber. After a horrendous event they rushed me out- I was discharged even though I had multiple, valid complaints, which I ended up being hospitalized for again. I ended up in a different hospital for about a week with the same complaints that they were not caring enough to look into. I contacted patient relations who were “investigating” the issues I brought up to them and there was no actual resolution, so in my opinion they were no help! The only good thing this hospital has going on are their nurses- most of them were caring and compassionate. The doctors and the residents (specially the year 1 residents that I encountered) need to have more training on ethics and caring for their patients. They are dealing with peoples lives who have loved ones.

Horrible experience today at St Joseph hospital. As a patient I had to stand on the line for more than 15 min in then I was asked to stand after that while the employee were setting on their chairs. I asked talk to the supervisor with no results. Then out of respect to myself I had to leave. How can the patients accept that? I pay you then I’m standing while you are setting. What a customer service is this?. After I left I when to other hospital I was served after two min.

If I could rate this hospital’s ER/Triage a zero or -10, I would. I among others who were transported in an ambulance, but deemed not an emergency upon arrival were sent to the Triage Unit. I have extreme abdominal pain (possible appendicitis) and have been waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting and still waiting to be seen after 4hrs. When I asked the Security Guard what the next steps were, he could not give me a sound answer. This place; this is not a hospital.

As I write this my 81 year old grandmother is sitting in a waiting room for over 9 hours on a Monday. She's in a diaper she hasn't peed or eaten any food or drink anything and almost 2 days. She is alone clutching her purse in an unsafe environment at trauma and the lack of empathy if this place has are sitting amongst people you would not want your grandmother sitting next to unattended where she's not even able to close her eyes and rest now at hour 9. Regardless of legitimate business, there was different humanity that comes into play. Let me wheel you over here feel free to close your eyes I'll make sure you're OK until we get you in period or let's put you in the room in the back and whereas you may wait, you're not unprotected and feeling suddenly confused because of the erratic unstable behavior now behavior now awake 26 hours. Just grow task treatment and inexcusable. I've been in the emergency medical services over 20 years and I've never heard of something like this period someone would have stepped in by now. Gross.

Doctor was very helpful got to the bottom of the issue happening with my daughter! But when you zoom into the picture uploaded please see why I had to rate my experience a 2 star…. Housekeeping for the ER should have a full staff meeting and look into who’s shift dropped the ball here at pediatrics!!! Extremely disappointing!!!

If I can give no stars I would!! HORRIABLE SERVICE!!! The nurse at the front desk "Alison" had the worst service ever. I brought my brother in for a broken hand mind you my brother is mentality ill! They brought him into a room to get checked they conf that his hand was broken and then told us we would have to be moved to a different side. I said fine. They sent us back to the waiting room where we stood for another hour! When I went to see what was taking so long they still thought my brother was in the room getting seen. That was strike 1! When he finally was called on they ask me to please wait a moment outside. Some time had passed and I advised the front desk that I had not be advised as to what was happen with my brother and I need to be with him since he is incapable of making any decisions or signing anything. Alison then replied that he is fine and getting checked that he isn't retarded. I then asked to speak with someone in charge because I was not comfortable leaving my brother alone. When speaking with the manager she told me there was nothing she can do. Which I'm sure was a bunch of bullshit I don't understand why they give someone a title with no authority. When speaking with the so called "manager" Alison came out speaking very strongly to me stating "I ALREADY TOLD HE IS FINE AND I JUST SAW HIM" I was disgusted !!!!!! I don't know what hospital runs this way but I can assure you this will be the LAST time I would ever feel okay coming here. I will also be taking this higher Alison obviously lacks professionalism.

Sitting in the ER since 6pm with my daughter and grandson with a fever of 102, was called in at 8, 11 and still n ones has come to check up on him. St Joe's employee walks in with her child, dr, nurses and everyone comes to check up on the child is given treatment right away and all is good, meanwhile we and every other patient has been waitting for five to six hours or so, some even more, what a freaking joke.

This place is a miracle place. Not only did Gaylord support me after being run over by a car they did everything to help me learn how to do everything again. The staff are amazing and never did they discourage my sometimes outlandish goal yet helped me complete them. I waited to get into this place from another hospital because this place is where you work hard to get apart of your life back. I even wrote a book about my stay here. It's called Superstar because that's what they called me. I was challenged and very well supported. Through my dark days I painted in the rec department. If it wasn't for painting therapy I might've gone mad. You are given every chance to get yourself back to your new normal. Dr. Rosenblum and Kristen were the best support and listeners for me. Dr. R is a Rockstar to me!

I am sorry that I had to give any stars in order to post. My neighbor was taken there . Upon arrival, this person expired. What followed that evening was unacceptable.. Its terrible enough that the family just lost their family member but the staff has to hit them with " its up to you to make a call and remove the body"... How cold in attitude and compassion can this place be? All Gaylord had to do was dial 911, let Hunters take the body to Mid-State and let the hospital call time of death... The body would have been held there, until the family could make arrangements ,as to where to take it.. I cannot believe this place was so cold and heartless to this family.... I will make sure others know of this treatment the family was given.

If I had to give no stars then I wud have given that or a black flag. My baby was bleeding coz of the test they have taken and my baby was kept without feeding for 8 hrs it was horrible to see doctors and nurses like so. No mercy, no courtesy, and no humanity and on tht biased and alot of racism towards the outsiders/ foreigners. Worst hospital and worst staff I have seen ever in my entire life. Should feel shame to call them selves a children's hospital..it's a big prison for children.. Request to all the parents plz dnt ever keep ur innocent babies in this hospital . St Joseph's sucks the blood of innocent babies..

Your hospital is unique. Not only is the campus a delightfully landscaped park, you fill the place with extraordinary people. I have never seen a place like this before. Whatever criteria you use to select people for employment – don’t change it. You somehow manage to hire people that have true compassion for their fellow human beings. Other hospitals had adept skilled staff but they seemed more interested in me simply as another case. Your facility has the same high level of skill with the added benefit of really caring people.

I stayed at Gaylord from June 20 - July 13 with a spinal stroke. This has to be the best hospital I've ever been to. The staff was so friendly and experienced, made me feel good every day. Special thank goes out to Allyson, the nurse in Lyman 2, thank you. Kudos to Gaylord. And the PT group was awesome, they did not take can't or NO for an answer, thanks.

If I could I wouldn't even give one star. I had to rush my co-worker to the emergency room because she was having signs of a stroke. The reception was disregarding how urgent the situation was and had my coworker sitting in the waiting room while she was clearly unable to breathe and clearly needed medical attention right away. The receptions did not seem to care at all and were disrespectful while I tried to explain how dire the situation was. I would not recommend any one going there if you need urgent care cause they obviously do not care enough.

Worse hospital experience ever!!! No wheelchairs in the whole hospital. Waiting for hours in the waiting room. No one checking to see if I am ok. Wish I could be transferred to Morristown Memorial hospital. Praying I NEVER HAVE TO COME St. Joseph's hospital again. And if put in a position like today where this is the closest, I would rather take my chance and go to a different hospital. The only thing good I can say is most of the staff are pleasant

The ER REFUSED medical services because we asked to see the hospitals mask policy. We never refused to use the mask, we simply requested to see the hospital policy. The ER proceeded to rip off the patient band off my fathers wrist and they kicked us out. They refused to return the bracelet back, although it has his personal information information. They said “we threw it the trash” without shredding it. My dad has had high blood pressure for over a week and his left side of his body is numb and although they knew all of this they proceeded to refused treatment over requesting to see hospital policy. One of the nurses even proceed to call us “dumb”. I will be filing a lawsuit.

DONT do it to yourself if you have any other options. AVOID this place at all costs. 8+ in ER waiting room without seeing a doc. People with broken bones and elderly people with chest pain are just sitting around. I’ve never seen an ER in such a poor state of operation. I’m annoyed that I have to be here, but worse for the other folks who have been waiting longer than me. I will say that the staff are kind. This seems to be poor poor management, inefficiency and understaffing.

Pediatric emergency room is very disorganized, and needs lot more coordination. 11pm shift left and we are left on the hallway while after 11pm patients got rooms. Nurse assistant said “oh 11pm shift left and they didn’t update”. Good thing it has been only 2.5hr since we checked this evening. Hope the adult emergency room is better (I wish).

My sister who has dementia was admitted to this hospital and stayed there for three weeks, let me begin by saying it was a terrible experience! She was not bathed for three whole weeks. Her condition worsened every single day she was there. She was unable to feed herself therefore she had to wait until either I or my brother visited to feed her. A couple of times I found her nails full of feces because she would try to get into her diaper. I left in tears many nights, I would never recommend this hospital to anyone! They don't care! I would stop at the nurses station and the people working at the nurses station would never look up and address me! I was ignored. Please do not take your love ones to this hospital!

(GO TO WAYNE) I was at the ER the other night, and during registration, a nurse asked me if I had insurance. I said yes, and handed her my wallet. She took my card out & copied the required information. She then took out my S.S card and told me that she'll need to use that also because she'll need my number. I said okay. Some hours later I left the hospital. While outside, I realized I didn't have my wallet. I went back inside to get it and they told me I never gave them a wallet. Very typical of a business in Paterson NJ. They were very unprofessional. Now I have to gather all of my ID cards again and cancel all of my credit cards. There was also a nurse in there that was VERY mean. I had severe depression & she did nothing but make me feel worse. DO NOT GO THERE!

My daughter was hospitalized last week and staff from ER were really helpful. They made me feel safe that my child is in great hands. The children area is great they had someone come to her room and sing to her and had her make slime. All these fun activities made her for get from her surgery. Over all the children’s area is great and staff is beyond my expectations!!!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I arrived at front desk at exactly 3:26 with my kids (9 and 2). The lady was nice and told me to get to outpatient before 4:00. We walked there in 5 minutes and arrived at 3:31, where I was told we can't be seen because we were 1 minute late. Front desk should be aware that the last patient is seen at 3:30 so I wouldn't have wasted my time. Then I had to pay for parking even though we couldn't even be seen.

While on vacation, my husband and I ended up needing emergency care. This is simply a homeless shelter masquerading as an ER. I heard some people waiting 3-4 hours and still weren’t called when we decided to visit a different ER. I feel for the full room of pediatric patients who were waiting to take the place of adults looking for a medication fix and warm bed. Severity of symptoms should always take precedent over who simply decided to wait 4 hours inside out of the cold.

I have been in the emergency department with my son at 7:00 pm , they checked in at 7:05 pm and we have been waiting for a couple of hours. Now 10:00 pm and I asked the front desk agent that , how long I have to wait? She says I don’t know. My son is crying because of his pain and he is hungry as well. I don’t understand how this department called emergency! This is a horrible situation! and it’s should have to be handled by a good administration immediately. I would like to ask to the city of Paterson to pay attention please!please!! Please!!!

I’ve been a patient at this hospital throughout my life. I now work here and it’s honestly so sad to see these reviews and actually see for myself how long it takes to get proper care at the emergency room and the unprofessionalism of the staff who work here from the registrar staff to the doctors. My relative was brought in and as soon we walked in, the front staff are making remarks about having to do more work “great just what I need” is what one of the staff said. The registrar employee with short blonde hair, is very unprofessional and rude. When we are brought in, it took so long for a doctor to come, the nurse has said she would bring medication for the fever and she didn’t until 30 mins+ and she was at her desk making conversation with her coworkers. Dr.Cho who was the ER doctor, Asian male with glasses comes in, didn’t introduce himself, immediately comes in and makes a remark about me sitting down instead of my mother, I sustained and injury so I was sitting down. His bedside manner is horrible, inside of giving a proper diagnosis he gave probabilities. My sister who was the patient later tries to tell the doctor more important information and he shushes her because he was speaking with my mother then he asks her what she was going to say and my sisters explains her other symptoms and he said she should’ve told her that before not after. How are you going to say that to the patient, you’re the doctor in charge, you’re the one making the assessment, so ask the proper questions to receive the proper information. He then tells my mother if she feels worse bring her back. Why don’t you do the proper tests such as a CT scan or mri to rule out any of your “probabilities”. Hopefully with the new CEO he can gradually make the proper changes.

I called this place twice and spoke to a customer service and was assured that I was going to get a call back, but they never did. Calling people back to give an answer isn't hard and it seems as though it was too hard for this hospital.

While waiting in the Pediatric Waiting area of this hospital, my 12 year old daughter brought to my attention what was playing on the hospital's TV. Adult cartoons were displaying on the TV in which the cartoons were cursing. Few minutes later on the TV came on the animated show FAMILY GUY which is also directed for adults and NOT kids. In that show there is nudity and cursing. I could not believe that such channel was on in a Pediatric waiting area. And to make matters worse, the waiting area was full of kids with their care givers. I went to a registration attendee and told him about the problem. He said that he couldn't change the channel because he did not have control of such. He said that an Operator was the one that could change the channels. He tried to fix the problem so he lowered the TV's volume. Unfortunately, that wasn't good enough because certain scenes contained nudity. Me and my daughter were then called in to be seen. An hour later, we were discharged but when I passed by the pediatric waiting area the same adult channel was still on. I was very disappointed with this children's hospital. They are way far from being called a children's hospital. The only thing that made me feel like I was in a pediatric hospital was the amount of sick and injured kids around me. The decor was also not appropriate for a children's waiting area and emergency rooms. Colors on the walls were dull. The only good thing about this visit was the accuracy in service. We left in less than 3 hours. This children's hospital has ALOT of work to do in order to received the honor to be called a children's hospital.

A friend of mine was admitted to the OB-GYN ward. Was shocked to see the food that she got while i was visiting. Cold soggy fries and a cold tasteless size of a thumb baked cod. Shocking. If you don’t know how to cater for patients, don’t. At least give them warm food. Patients are humans. Even we treat our animals better. I wonder if their main doctor Dr. Principe knows about this bad operations management.

If I could leave a zero star I would. the pediatric emergency is a joke. I came in with my 10 month year old daughter at 3am and was never seen. I decide to take my daughter to hackensack hospital because of the lack of attendance.it was 5am.no one ever came in the room to asked if everything was ok or please be patient we will be with you or anything.any acknowledgement would have made us feel like we were there and not forgotten. mind you my 10month daughter is crying in pain and we dont know what it is. so I requested some sort of paperwork for taking my daughter to another hospital or discharge papers. anything showing we were there and the vital signs that were taken at that time so I can show hackensackwhat they were at that time and registered at the reception and I was told no I can just walk out. no papers or anything to sign. but that if I'm concern about my daughter i should wait to get seen. i responded and that's why we are leaving because i am concern and i want my daughter seen. it's now almost 1 hour and 1/2 since we went in. I wouldn't recommend this hospital. lack of concern and well being of babies. horrible experience. take your kids somewhere else to be seen.

One of the worst experience my family has ever experience. Administration was awful. When my family member was brought there we asked for a family meeting to discuss the case. The coordinator was annoyed. Come to find out they could not handle our case and did know what we should do. In August we asked the Coordinator if they could put in for an appeal (since insurance was almost exhausted) we find out that the appeal was done on Sept 9th (according to the insurance company). She was never planning on doing it. If you can go anywhere else go. I would rather give 0 stars but it asks for at least 1.

The nurses at this hospital are phenomenal. My 64 year old father broke his shoulder and he needed surgery. The nurse even let me see my dad for five minutes after his surgery and they didn’t have to do that because there’s no visitors due to covid protocols. They are so nice. Despite being short staffed, they made him very comfortable and made sure he had a bed. They all deserve a raise.

Amazing but necessary visit. I suffered appendicitis recently and had to visit the emergency room as a result. Given that I'm a fairly healthy person, I hadn't been to a hospital for a non-appointment related reason in over fifteen years. Needless to say, I was a little shaken up by the whole thing. I had to go into surgery just hours after having tests done. The experience could have been absolutely terrifying if it weren't for the wonderful staff here. Every nurse I came into contact with was sweet and welcoming, and the doctors made sure to brief me on everything that was happening as I went through the motions. The bedside manner here was jus exceptional and, if I had to go through an appendectomy, I'm happy I had to go through it here. On top of the lovely staff being kind and welcoming, they were also very efficient. On an early Saturday morning, they helped me right away and had me in a bed in minutes. They ran tests, put an IV in me, and admitted me immediately. The moment the results came in, I was brought to the OR, where I waited only fifteen minutes before being operated on. I was even able to go home the same day. I very much appreciated the difficult but necessary time I spent here.

The medical staff is amazing! The entire team I met when I had spinal surgery was extremely thorough, professional and caring, which makes all the difference when you're scared before and right after a serious procedure. The care was commensurate with the hospital's values that are posted throughout the premises.

my daughter tried to commit suicide, once we got her stable the hospital recommended she be transferred to a mental health institution for a few days . The one I picked was full so we needed to wait for a bed while we waited there was NO counselor that came and talk to her . The hospital stated they do not have a counselor that comes and talks to the children while they are waiting for placement ... ummm 🤔 how do you have a suicide unit and no type counseling or therapy for these children! Shame on you !!!! The PEDS staff was wonderful but they really need to get these children some counseling while they are waiting for placement ! When I brought this up to the doctors they stated “you have a good point “ that was it !

I traveled almost 2hrs for pre ~admission testing which was scheduled this week but we got a phone call to come in earlier so it was last Monday. The doctor that changed everything mt daughter didn’t ask his name so we showed up by 10am and the pre~admission room was full so we around the little corner a short hallway and I found I nurse told we were told to come this morning nurse Saadiquah Hamiltonwas calm polite and said she’s not on todays list so I thought here we go she’s gonna just tell us to go n call my doctor but no she honestly surprised me with her behavior and so no you stay I’ll get you in we are extremely crowded but she would take care of it. It was shocking to me I’m not use to being treated with such respect and I do know how hard nurses work but I don’t think I’ve met one like Saadisquah I definitely know in the hospitals by me they would of never taken me I would of had to come back another day..Saint Joseph’s is extremely fortunate and very lucky to a nurse like her so level headed and really makes you know you matter I’m so happy she was there with her busy schedule lots of stuff happening around me n her calmness put us at ease… She is very special nurse n person you can see it in how she speaks to each patient n fellow nurses. They say each day something good is put right for you and I truly believe that now.. Every nurse and worker was extremely kind pleasant and they’re best to make us comfortable and they truly did. I will recommend Saint Joseph’s to family n friends . I truly had a wonderful experience and that’s means a lot knowing my daughter will be having surgery there next week..Thanks again for all of the comfort n kindness you have shown to us..

However, after addressing those concerns with the nurse before my son's arrival, I felt hopeful all would be well. And it was. I even left with a get well card signed by everyone which was so sweet. Thank you everyone.

This hospital is okay in my opinion. I am sorry I am writing very late. When I was in the emergency room last June there was a doctor very nice Dr. Oyami. He was helpful to my needs. Fast forward now, I went during a visit at 10:20 pm. A D.O. Saw me Dr. Riss. He was terrible didn’t want to see me, was rushed and had an attitude when I was explaining my symptoms to him. He just said I will give you pain medicine and that’s it. When he went inside even talking to the nurse saying what his other feelings are not my problem. I don’t care. I come here to work. Also, I’ve saw him very kind and generous with other few sick people in the emergency room. What I’ve felt was embarrassed to even, tell him my problems. I hate for what he has done towards me and made me feel negative in my experience. I had to say it late because I’ve felt mad but, speaking out too let other’s know this hospital has the most caring but, a bunch of mad sickos they think that they are better than us because they have a doctors degree. I am human and I am not perfect and I am going to get sick sometimes and deserve the best care I deserve. This hospital should terminate the bad doctors and keep the good ones who are able too help the community with their needs. This isn’t fair in anyone’s part who needs medical care. We all need to be treated with respect equally and that is what we need too do as human beings. I deserved better and that is why this hospital is getting 3 stars because of some of the attitudes I see here. This needs too get better in my opinion.

This hospital employs incompetent nurses. They would rather spend the effort arguing than working. If you ask a question or advocate for yourself they become irate then try to intimidate you. Most of them have no clue what a HIPAA consent form is. I have been to this hospital on at least ten occasions and it was unclean every time. Dr. Tanuja Damani is frequently late and very cocky. She canceled my major surgery twice. The second time was the day before.

The staff housekeeping was good and doctors as well just the the security the old man I asked him for directions and he told me he didn’t know, what kind of security doesn’t know where certain areas are like you work there and he wasn’t new or anything just didn’t want to help out and the parking lady didn’t explain the ticket correctly she had me over 2 hours after I was discharged just so I can get my ticket cleared since I was there for surgery. The transportation of the wheel chair took long as well it had me wait g over 45 minutes when I could’ve been down the stairs while being sick in 20 minutes. Like these things shouldn’t even happen in a hospital

ER bedside manor is good . The nurses on the 3rd floor where my grandmother is in , is also good and attentive with medications , radiology results etc , but what I don’t understand is why do we have to call for room service everyday ? Shouldn’t that be automatic ? Especially since her diet is logged into the computer so when room service is called we give them the room number and they already know each and everyone diet . So why is it that we have to call every day for room service AND we have to wait close to 3 hours for a tray ? Thank god we come everyday to see my grandma .

Stay away from this hospital! If it wasn't for the helpfulness of one or two of the staff in the patient relations, a lovely clergy person from pastoral care, the social worker, the charge nurse, and one or two of the nurses (on the Telemetry floor only), the rating would have been ZERO stars. Absolutely Terrible! The attending doctors deserve a NEGATIVE rating. Jut Horrible.

I want to share that I met with Dr Juven on Sept 17th as to new braves. I waited an hour past my scheduled time to be seen and my consultation was under 10 minutes. I traveled 60 miles for this appointment . The consultation resulted in me having to schedule an appointment with Hangers in New London for heal braces to be used in addition to my current braces which Dr Rosenblum said, “were inappropriate” for my condition. During my consultation I was also advised that if I want to continue working I should seek another place of employment as my current job ( managing outside lawn and garden at Lowe’s .....which is physically active and a job I love) is not conducive to my condition. I was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy on July 26th 2017 and this is the first time I felt completely dismissed....

I spent 1-2 months here to recover from a broken hip, I'm a little hazy on the time span because I had TBIs and wasn't able to remember much soon before/a little while after my accident. Point is, I was really impressed with Gaylord's dedication to the wellbeing/safety/both of their patients, one of which I was. I was also pretty impressed with the kindness and compassion of all of my therapists. I would most certainly recommend this facility to any injured friends of mine who are willing to drive to Wallingford from where we live and/or fulfill basic requirements to become a patient here, which I can assume are extensive because they treat people with both physical and mental handicaps, no matter the person's age or gender gender, of course.

Doesn’t look like much has changed since I was a 10 year old girl left in a bed in the children’s ward. Nuns were the nurses back then. Nothing to do but wait for barbaric testing each day. My dad came in every day and mom when she could. They regretted ever leaving me there to get the care I needed.

This hospital is the most unprofessional I have ever known.... trying to schedule a pre admitting test for surgery a whole week leaving messages and no one has a courtesy to call back ...no doubt I prefer 100% St Barnabas were I had surgery before

The service was very bad especially from two nurses that were helping me in the emergency room floor number 3 her name is Nya and the second one is Iris. I was very mad because everytime I asked for help they wouldn't even look at me which made me annoyed.

We went for our toddler daughter’s eye surgery. All staffs were very kind (especially to my girl). My lo got scared and cried so hard right after waking up from anesthesia, nurses were very calm and tried their best to soothe her with stickers and colorful bandaids (even thou that wasn’t working to stop her crying but I appreciate their effort! ). Generally very smooth process.

Worst Hospital in the whole city of Paterson. The staff/doctors will literally have patients wait here for more than 4 hours. Literally up to the next day ! This place is unprofessional when it comes to patience priorities. Short staff ? Or just lack of responsibilities ? Looks like they really don’t care. Change hospital management!!!! This place should be interviewed and published as Paterson NJ worst hospital. Do not Come here. Take the drive or transportation to another hospital. It will save you time, and you will be seem faster at other places. It’s 2:19 AM and I still haven’t been seen yet. I arrived at around 10:00 AM and was told my waiting time in 4 hours more. I haven’t seen any other patient be seen as well since I arrived. Everyone is still sitting at the same area. Either these doctors need more medical practice and staff need to be changed completely!

I had my son at this hospital during the heart of COVID on April 18, 2020. The staff was amazing! They took good care of my family and I. They made me feel safe and comfortable. They even gave me a room all to myself with two beds for my man to stay with me and the baby. Great service THANK YOU 🙏🏾

Honestly the worst hospital ever ! . If you are in desperate need please find another hospital . The ER is always crowded and the staff is so rude and not helpful what so ever. I have had 2 incidents where the patient care and bedside manner has not been up to par . My grandmother who was hospitalized a few months ago in the ER was waiting for a bed for more than an hour, she went in for a UTI and the nurses on staff and doctors did not attend to her right away nor give her the medication her primary care physician had in order for when she came into the ER . She was 91 years old and waited for a room for hours . I understand that the ER can be busy but to not attend to patients quickly wheather in a bed or even laying in a bed in the hall way WITH GUSHING BLOOD RUNNING DOWN HIS ARM quickly is not right . She wasn’t given her medication on time which led to her infection to worsen and then pass away few more ha after. Now my father is in the ER admitted due to a seizure and stroke , he has not taken his seizure medication and when asked for them the nurse in charge THE FOLLOWING DAY said the pills are not in their system to give to him . Now for anyone who has seizures you need you’re medication everyday and I had to administer his meds . And now we are waiting for results of an MRI and electrocardiogram that we’re done hours ago , plus I received a call from a nurse who confused me for another patient! It is completely unacceptable you can not play with people lives like this . We come to the hospital and out our trust into doctors and nurses for what ?! To be mistaken by another patient ? Plus be restricted from you’re medication that you take everyday ! I am disgusted and disappointed, this hospital needs to do better just because it’s mot you’re family on that side of the ER doesn’t now mean you should not care !

Please hear me out. The absolute worst hospital ever. One of my biggest regrets in life is bringing my mom to this hospital. If only I went somewhere else I know without a doubt my mother would be much better health today. Multiple people have told me how they have bring their loved ones here and they end up being in much worst condition than before. My mother had to suffer multiple heart attacks, a whole year of rehab, daily visits for dialysis etc and she went in there just fine. I'm not even joking right now but It's like they're making people sick like this to keep them in the hospital, all just to make money... i thought it was just me but once I heard stories from people I know I couldn't believe it. Please do not bring your loved ones here for anything serious, for something simple or small yes, but I strongly suggest going to hackensack meridan or anywhere else if you want the best for your loved one.

I was a little worried when told this is the hospital for my wife to labor, because it has an average score of 2.6 with a lot of bad reviews complaining, but in the end I would say the service was much better than the score. I give 5 stars to most of the doctors, nurses, and staff. They are professional and having the right skills to take care of us. They are usually polite, patient, and easy to communicate with. They say “congratulations” all the time. I give 4 stars to the facility and equipments. They don’t look brand new or sharp clean, but overall pretty good. There is nothing let me feel too dirty or too mess to use. The weak part is the security and some of the staff whom I will give 2 stars. It seems the security guy is often a new hire. One day they didn’t know how to operate the elevator to certain floor (it needs a staff badge), and the other day they forced me to go into the check-in line without asking if I have the wristband (meaning I have already checked in and no need to go to the line). Some front desk staff might had a bad day, talking to me in an unhappy and impatient manner. These are unpleasant but not big deals. I can’t speak for other parts of the hospital, like the ER that got most of the complaints, but I do recommend go to this hospital for your labor and delivery.

St. Joseph in paterson is worst than a third world country. I have had the displeasure of going there four times in my life never successfully always had to move on to a nearby hospital like st. Joseph of Wayne Valley hospital and holyname of teaneck. Today 5/2/23 I had to take my wife in because of possibility of miss carriage they are a birthing center so made sense. Got there at 1pm six hours later we asked the er nurse what's going on in the building she asked for her name said she must have fell off the registry. Re-registered said we would be next one hour later we cut our losses and drove up to holyname . Within five minutes of walking in the door she was in a room getting blood work and prepped for ultrasound. Thank God for hospitals that care and don't treat every person who walks in like a charity case . St. Joseph in paterson do better. I was always told as a kid never go there unless you want to die slow. Ohh there was a elderly lady there before we arrived I feel so bad for her she was still waiting hunched over in a wheelchair after we left may the angels of God be with her in that place.

I had a dental emergency and this was the best Dental experience I have had ! I went first to the Dental Clinic at 11 Getty, then to the Oral Surgery Dept in the main Facility. Dr. Kevin Albite, Senovia Fornes, Dr. Ramiz Mogannam, and Dr. Farinaz Sepahifar were phenomenal! They exhibited superb knowledge, and a very high level of patient care during a very difficult time. I have worked with clinicians many years, and I highly recommend this Facility to everyone - including the Security Officer Mr. Jimmy. All together they helped to create a safe and trusting atmosphere for wellness. Thank you all for your care and services. God bless you!

I wouldn't change the Hackensack Hospital for anything in the world, I will be there because i was in my mom house (Paterson) I feel really bad, with chest pain, nausea, left eye blurred vision, headache and they leave you sitting in the ambulance no stretcher also, The paramedics are kind but they come to the house and instead of taking your blood pressure they start talking nonsense, I had to tell them to take my blood pressure, than they make you walk around the hospital, I had to ask for a chair, They leave you waiting for hours, it is the worst hospital that can exist. If you want good treatment, and save your health, DO NOT VISIT THIS HOSPITAL!

Terrible experience, the truth is that they left me waiting 7 hours just to be able to take my vital signs. In addition to that, I asked the staff if it would take a long time for them to attend to us but everyone told me that I had to wait for them to call me, terrible service and staff.

I had surgery on Wednesday December 13th all was going well until I was recovery there were at 3 nurses there ignoring my question about whether. My family had been notified of my condition. .my blood pressure was elevated and I was really upset. They not addressing my questions only sat there in front of me with no response after about 2 hours I insisted that they give me my personal items so I could make the call. Myself eventually was taken to room 605 they kept me waiting and I found out that there were on 4 patients on the entire floor. I asked to see the nurses I'd she did not comply. Said her name was Maria Alfonso . And left. I just want to say they were not nice and and unprofessional.

The ER is insane! People sick, they call you to ask you questions, then to check your blood pressure and after that the wait there is like forever waiting for a doctor to see you. I would never recommend anyone to go to the ER. They’re very disorganized and unprofessional. My mom went with a bad headache and she had to wait outside for more than 4 hours. Very disappointed at his hospital l! Every visit gets worse!

update, 7/8: they've created lines at the entrance and streamlined the process so it is more efficient and safer since yesterday. elevator guidelines still needed, but a real improvement for everyone's safety. the front desk checkin is not socially distanced and backed up around a horseshoe shape. AND the hospital staff all pushes into a small elevator because that practices social distancing guidelines. Unbelieveable.

Everyone who took care of me during my stay made me feel better and couldn't ask for a better hospital. You all are truly remarkable caretakers. I recently was a patient at Gaylord. The care I received was superb. The staff at this facility is comprised of top notch professionals who are dedicated to the care of patients. The rehabilitation program I endured was extremely challenging but I am fit today because of it. I especially liked the way I was apprised of how my rehabilitation program would benefit me. Each objective in my program was explained thoroughly to me along with the benefits of meeting each objective in my program. In sum, this was a life saving experience for me.

Warning ⚠️ Gaylord Hospital is wonderful for the rich, famous and those with private insurance. It has been a great disappointment to myself and many others on Medicare or Governmental Insurance. Patients without private insurance are treated like 3rd rate citizens. From appointments to treatment plans their services do more damaging than good. It’s a great hospital if you fall under their class of patients otherwise your better off going to a under staffed, outdated clinic with interns, atleast they actually care and you’ll be treated like a human being and not trash.

Gaylord is an amazing place. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with security today. Jon the supervisor of security was mean and disrespectful! He stepped out of line. I was working with my patient and long story short. My client and I got in a small disagreement. He budged his way into the conversation and told me I wasn’t doing my job right. Then told me to shut up and that the conversation was over. When I told him if I could talk to the superviser? He got all cocky and said “I am the supervisor.” I’m so disappointed because everyone in Gaylord is so nice. But Jon made me feel belittled and hurt because I didn’t deserve to be spoken to in that manner. Action should be taken for being disrespectful. I’ll definitely be putting in a complaint. I’ll update you on the status on whether the hospital took action or not. After I right the complaint. STAY AWAY FROM JON THE SUPERVISOR SECURITY AT SECURITY. Hello everyone! Here is the update I promised. Within hours, had Bob Hual the director of a few branches in Gaylord hospital including security called me to resolve the issue. I am very impressed on how he handled the situation. He apologized for the terrible experience I had. He also reminded me that Gaylord does not accept this kind of behavior. He promised me that the situation would get resolved and that he would be speaking to JON the supervisor of security. I am very happy because I actually got an apology. It wasn’t from JON the supervisor but an apology is an apology. I feel like this will most likely not happen to anyone else. Thats all I really care about. Customer service is one of the most important things to have when running a business. Gaylord hospital proved to me that no one is perfect, that we all make mistakes, and they took responsibly and corrected the situation. Thank you Bob hual! So my rating went from a 2 to a 5 because I can promise and assure you that this is a very rare situation at Gaylord hospital! I know from experience. I had a few clients go to Gaylord hospital. You won’t find sweeter nurses or doctors anywhere else. Unfortunately can’t say the same for security!

I have been a patient at St. Joe's Dental Clinic for 10 years. Trying to get an appointment or a new dentist is like pulling teeth in itself. My old dentist left and they never called to reassign me. I had to find out myself. I have been waiting for a phone call from the head office manager Dion for 6 months to be assigned a new dentist--5 months to a SPECIFIC dentist. I've been calling every month about it just to be told "this information will be relayed" and that "I will be called "soon". I called again at the beginning of November and still nothing. I have a lot of work that needs done and my teeth are hurting & getting worse. The work provided by the dentists themselves is very excellent and the dentists are very nice and professional too. It's the office that's terrible.

The doctors and nurses were kind and gentle with my father after he suffered a bike accident. I felt everything was handled very professionally. The surgeons were very competent and kept us updated throughout the whole process The only critique was that the nurses assistants seemed short staffed.

i wrote a review and it appears to be gone .. can they just remove what people have to say?? Filthy place for a hospital and a learning hospital .. you may not have a real doctor caring for you.. beware!!!! And Iris i will send a handwritten complaint for you ... you are the towel girl and had zero place in lectruring me on how to discharge and care for my husband of 40 years. You stepped way out of your bounds .. get over yourself.. less is more .. i asked a simple question and got a lecture. And sis i have spent more times in hospitals then you probably have on your work/study.

I was on the 4th floor a couple days after major surgery. This Hospital is a hidden gem! Old fashion care of their patients. A+ care of their patients .....

The pediatricians, nurses and facilities are great. Came here for a same day surgery with my daughter and it went so well. I was so nervous about the whole experience but honestly the hospital itself was very clean, organized and the nurses and doctors really were stellar! Also they have an Au Bon Pain (fresh quality healthy food) restaurant for food .

Before even going into this hospital I had already developed the preconceived notion that it was going to be an outdated building with poor medical attention. I have to admit that I had those beliefs because of where the hospital Is located. Well, I actually got to experience for the first time this week what the children's hospital at saint joseph is like and it's wonderful! The nurses and doctors are incredibly friendly with excellent bedside manners. Everyone I met at the hospital was extremely welcoming and respectful. I am beyond grateful for their attention and service. I would totally trust this hospital with my children for any other future service. The care here went beyond any expectations I had. I feel very fortunate to have a hospital like this only a few minutes from my home. I would totally recommend the children's hospital to anyone and everyone i know. Also, i have to add that i noticed this hospital has a very diverse workforce. It was really good to see this.

Very poor service. Very poor patient care. They don't treat patients with care they don't check on patients to make sure they are ok. Forget to send orders in.The nurses just sit around. They need more staff and better ones too. If I can give it no stars I would

I would give then a zero star. My wife got a appointment because they found out she got a gestional diabetes and she have to be admitted from 6am till 6pm on 03/08/2021 we got there at 530 am and she do not get out till 1030 PM.when she got there her sugar level was 190 they give her breakfast before putting the insulin and raise up to 230,the nurse realized that she made a mistake and apologized for that.looks that they do not know what they're doing.no body explained to her what she have to do since they do not have staff available who speaks Spanish and also they do not know how to communicate with the patients.she got a appointment for today 03/09/2021 at 10 am and she have to bring her urine from last nite and today. She brought it on a plastic bottle and now they cant find her on the system and they do not want to accept that urine sample since is not on a special container.fiest of all they do not provide her with a container and we still here waiting for then to find her on the system I would not recommend these hospital it all to no body, people if you love your kids do not bring then here these people working on saint jhosep in paterson are nothing than unprofesional they do not know what are they're doing I'm switching hospitals I do not going to let my baby born here these is the worst hospital and a nightmare it looks like they're just here practicing with patients and not helping them.

Do better!!! Very disappointing experienced. I’ve waited very patiently to be seen to be seen 4+hrs. And just because a section of the ED wasn’t open I wasn’t called in among other that were put for that section. There were people that were waiting longer and I was. If it’s an emergency room why can we be call in the order we came in and the doctor check us out ? Of course is okay to protocol to keep everyone safe for those who have contagious diseases, and have them separated . But l was literally told if that section doesn’t open for 12hrs well then I gotta wait and plus more because it’s the way the operate.

From the moment I arrived at this hospital I found that every staff member was extremely helpful. My relative was getting a cardiac procedure done, and I knew the wait would be all day. Anytime my husband and I walked around the hospital and looked somewhat confused someone reached out and offered help.

  • 1/5 Daniece M. 9 months ago on Google
The wait to get seen was 3 and a half hours. My brother was burning up and had a fever and needed medical attention. The nurses kept us in the dark about the status of his condition. They didn’t tell us what exactly was wrong with him and only gave him medicine to take. The nurse that came in to take his temperature did it wrong and claimed he didn’t have a fever. The doctor then came in and said it was wrong and that my brother did have a fever.

I wanted to take this opportunity and acknowledge Kristie Spindler and Tania Velez-Ayala who provided me with GYN services. I was in the office last week and I was very impressed with my services. Ms. Spindler has excellent bedside skills and she is very professional. She is prompted with her scheduled appointments which I really appreciate. She comes prepared, such as she reviews the medical history prior and she is knowledgeable as she answers all of my . I feel very comfortable in her presence and respected when sharing personal information with her. In regards to Ms. Ayala, this was my first time meeting her. She was very polite and kind when she greeted me. She engaged me with an appropriate discussion as she took my vital signs. She had a great sense of humor and she was very pleasant to speak with. I enjoyed our time together and I hope that I will get to see her again at the office. Thank you for caring about the people and the community. I was extremely impressed with my service and felt it was necessary to extend a Kudos for a fantastic job. Thank you Kristen Spindler and Tania Velez-Ayala once again for a job well done.

I called the neurology department and was immediately met with an extremely rude response and was told by the person on the phone to call back in an hour because she couldn't deal with me right now due to me not knowing exactly what type of appointment I had off the top of my mind. Go somewhere else where they wont tell you to call back when they clock out and hang up on you. I called around 12:10 at Tuesday, Sep 12

BEST HOSPITAL STAY EVER I don’t know why anybody would have any complaints about this place. The facility is practically brand-spanking new, it’s immaculate, and it’s state-of-the-art. But what’s especially great about this hospital is the staff. Because of some stunt my insurance company, Braven, tried to pull on me (and didn’t get away with), I wound up staying here far longer than I should have—8/24/23-9/11/23 (2 ½ weeks). Consequently, I easily came in contact with at least 120 members of the St. Joe’s staff--specifically, the 4th and 6th floor ortho wards and the ICU. With the exception of maybe three people who were definitely in need of some attitude adjustment, I found every employee—residents, transport people, doctors, housekeepers, social workers, nurses, PCA’s, therapists, technicians, dieticians, and whomever else I may have unintentionally left out to be beyond helpful. Every request I made (and there were a lot, since I was pretty much helpless after my spine surgery) was met with a cheery, “No problem!” It would be hard to say anyone was particularly outstanding because everyone was. Based on my experience in Paterson, I chose to do my rehab at their branch in Wayne. My one complaint is the bedding. The mattresses were completely inadequate for an ortho ward, and the blankets were thin and scratchy—they refused to stay on and literally gave me a rash…Other than that, no negative feedback whatsoever.

Do not get heart surgery at this facility. A loved one had open heart surgery at Saint Joseph’s hospital and the patient is worse than when they came in. The person now has a whole array of new health issues related to the heart procedure. The place is trash and the cardiologists there are awful too. Look elsewhere. St. Joseph’s hospital is the worst hospital in New Jersey.

The only reason why I am rating St. Joseph Hospital 4 stars is literally because of their NURSES!!! My daughter was in the hospital for three days…from the ER (Nurse Maria) to Peds ICU (Nurse Michelle) & Peds (Nurse Maria & Nadia) NURSES were absolutely amazing!! They Listen, They were attentive, They were CARING! THANK YOU!!! Otherwise, I would rate this hospital 1 star…everyone else needs proper bedside manners, I do understand they are located in Paterson, NJ and encounter ALL different personalities, however, they need to learn not everyone is the SAME! && this hospital is just GROSS, it screams COVID Germs 🦠🤢🥴.

The ER is so dirty and so disorganized. People wait for 3 hours or more and they call it a pediatric emergency care. They don’t care about making a 16 month old wait for 4 hours when he has difficulty breathing. We came here because it’s an emergency. How pathetic it is to have dirty waiting rooms and understaffed emergency room. This management should shut down medical center and run some damn business.

I work here but im very disappointed with the care i received from the doctor in the ED. I came in for chest pain and high BP. Ekg cxr and labs were done which came out normal but MD did not manage my hypertension W/c was in the 170s at that time. He said “I don’t take care of your BP you have to go to your doctor. “ I left the ED with a Bp of 174/118, headache and a heavy heart. My nurse Jesse was ok I know she was doing her Best But she got a lot to do. But this ED Doctor needs more compassion and education on how to take care of his patients.

I had the flu. I went to the emergency room of this hospital for the first time, hoping that they would give me a serum or medicine for my fever. I waited exactly 3 and a half hours for them to do the Covid test. I waited another 45 minutes and they read my name. I was called into the examination room. I was kept waiting here for another half hour. A doctor named Dr.maria Carvalho Olarte came. SHe looked at my throat with her mobile phone flashlight. She said that the flu would go away with rest. After 15 minutes, she gave me a prescription for a painkiller and sent me out. I experienced this in this fraudulent hospital on 12.25.23. Today, February 12, 2024, I received a letter in the mailbox from St. Joseph's Hospital. I received an invoice saying $ 2200 for physical therapy, emergency room, laboratory expenses. I have never encountered such a fraud case in my life. I caught and sent many scammers to the FTC. But you are a huge fraudulent institution that has no belief in God. I will sue you. God ll punish you.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE experience!!! We took our 3 year old son for a laceration above his eye. We were told by our pediatrician that our son would need stitches so to take him to St. Joseph for their pediatric unit. They called us 9 HOURS LATER to be seen by a doctor. Waited another hour for numbing cream. By the time the plastic surgeon came to see my son, the wound had clotted and almost closed and no stitches were needed at that time. 9 HOURS for a 3 year old child. I kept asking the front desk the waiting time, nobody knew. You want my advise, take your child elsewhere.

I recently had my baby couple months ago. I was not concerned if to have my baby in Hackensack hospital or St Joseph hospital. As soon my water broke @ 38 weeks. I right away when for St Joseph Hospital. It was the best decision ever! As soon I arrive they made sure I was okay and they took care for me every second. The nurses were very nice, kind, and helpful every moment. Even if my contractions were strong and I beg for c section. I'm glad they did not listen too me. My baby was born strong and healthy! No needed for nicu. I honestly I'm so thankful with st Joseph hospital.💖

The physical therapy services are Horrible!!! If you don’t have any connections here, don’t come here .They will not going to see your loved one unless you know somebody here in the hospital. They treating you as nobody . Security guards are very rude, they are barking like animals ! If it was not an emergency, I would never bring my mom here
