A friend asked me to drop off some coffee grounds to @plantbasemarket and I found a vegan jewel here in Jersey City. I have a very big appreciation and admiration for a true vegan place that does things old school also. This place is nonprofit and they give out free organic food from a refrigerated unit in front. U can literally just walk up, grab a few veggies and be on your way. My favorite spot ON EARTH! Zero waste market and vegan cafe, need I say more? Yes.. The food is fresh made from scratch and unforgettable. I just wished I lived closer but I travel for good vegan food and always crave these delicious creations. I discovered today they are now a non-profit with a community center/outdoor garden and free community fridge to fight food insecurity in their community. Inspiring 🙌 Makes me even more happy to support ! Kudos chefs. Please open up one near me.

I never knew this place was in Jersey City so I was excited to try it. I called in my order with this really nice young lady. I ordered the Zak Wrap and it came to $12 and some change. I wanted a side of fries but they didn't have french fries. When I arrived I found parking in front of the restaurant. When I walked in the restaurant looked real Earthy and you could tell it was a vegan spot. They also had small grocery items they sold. I told another nice young lady I was there to pick up and my name and I paid. The customer service there is very good. When I left and went home, I ate and the wrap was tasty. The mac and cheese needed a little more salt but everything else was good. I would definitely be back for more.

Food is legit. Staff is friendly. Outdoor seating is nice. Hope to return.

Such amazing people and the energy is just Right and Exact. Def recommend folks to come by and check out the food here and tham come through on Friday Nights for a Drum Circle with such a dope crowd of Folks.

This place is majestic! If I could, I would eat here every day of the week, honestly, it’s that delicious! The workers are super nice and friendly in the store and when replying to reviews =). They have majestic vegan options and high quality products! Their meals are soo good, especially their burritos and tacos, and don’t even get me started on the desserts ✨🔥. This place is to die for, 5 stars, majestic!! P.S : Even if you’re not vegan, this place extremely recommended =)

Stopped in here after looking for local vegan restaurants near the Liberty State Park that my guy and I were visiting. Plant Base is less than 2 miles from the park. I liked that they had a small outdoor seating area, but I forgot to take a pic of it. I was very hungry and just wanted to get inside to place my order. The place is nice and clean. They have many of the fresh produce items (much of which is organic) that they use in their meals and drinks in carts in the center of the restaurant in a cute rustic fashion. They also sell dry beans, seeds, spices, oats, and the like... I didn’t search that area long, because the focus was on placing my order, though I did get a picture. We both ordered the 3 for $10 tacos as they were highly recommended by a couple who sat not far from the register. I got the Oto Taco, which is with pulled mushrooms, and he got the Bex Mex, which is a walnut chorizo and taste each other’s taco. We were both very pleased with our tacos. (Though he said he likes mine better and I liked his better. Isn’t that always how it goes? Lol) The tacos were very messy due to all of the sauce, but delicious nonetheless. Definitely not a complaint. Water and any fresh pressed juice you order (I got the Green Juice) is served in small mason jars. Oh, about the juice... If you like yours really cold you may not want it. We asked for ice for ours and was told that they don’t offer ice, because they feel that consuming cold beverages isn’t good for the body. I know nothing about this, so we just accepted our room temp water and juice. It was actually very delicious, but I really would have liked my juice to have been a bit colder. I will definitely visit the place again when I am in the area, to try more food off of the menu, just maybe not the juice. Oh! I forgot to mention that you will not get paper plates or plastic eating utensils here while dining here. We were offered and were given cloth napkins and real (you know, the kind that you buy for your home) eating utensils. The hot sauce that we asked for was also served in a small mason jar. I really love and appreciate their zero waste philosophy. Their customer service was also very good. The staff was very friendly and checked with us to make sure that we were comfortable and enjoying the food. Without a doubt I would go back.

The Bex Mex taco was really good. Really cool down to earth hip vibes. Ordered the pizza but still waiting as I write this review. Will update when I try it. UPDATE: Had the pizza, the J.Tripper, and it was ok. Not my thing but was still tasty. The Power Smoothie is good though. Will love to return to try the other options. So far a good find for vegans here in JC.

THE BEST! Everything on the menu is the correct choice. Everything. The people are great, chill, kind, and here to get you the best damn food in the game! But seriously, the food is phenomenal. When in doubt with what to order — the Crunchwrap is a safe and delicious bet. They also have a great garden space to enjoy your meals. So unique. Ask them how to get in there and enjoy your meal in a little bit of city nature. May this place continue to prosper! Thanks for all my delicious meals y’all!

We just love this place! The dishes there are delicious and the people there are super nice. When we saw a dish that belonged to a worker, we asked the workers there what it was called, they not only kindly told us what it was, but also let us try a piece! We will be happy to come back.

This is now my favorite fully vegan restaurant in the whole NYC metropolitan region! H.B. is delicious, and I loved trying a switchel for the first time! I recommend this place!

This spot is a reminder that we do not have to forgo taste for health (quality ingredients). I got the crunch wrap with the lemon tahini and chipotle aioli. So good!!! And it’s soy and gluten free??? Meaning I left full and satisfied sans the bloat the usually comes with gluten or processed food. Lol Excuse the presentation, I was in the car and hungry lol I also ordered the soup of the day and the muffins. Soup was equally as tasty! The staff was super kind and the store is a cute little vibe. Will be back to try those tacos but the crunch wrap was an amazing introduction (suggested by staff) lol

Tacos were amazing (we tried the oyster mushrooms and roasted veggies). Our party also had the 5 elements wrap and the “tuna” wrap which were amazing as well.

Ok so at this point I LIVE HERE. The SI bowl is glorious. The otto taco is mouth watering. The cupcakes...wow...those cupcakes are HEAVEN. Sorry I never take a photo. I finish to fast. Staff is extremely helpful and professional. The vibe is so groovy. The parking is great and the additional oils and stones make the entire visit a WHOLE experience!

A hidden gem of Jersey City. Interior is very nice, staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food tasted like it was made in heaven!

Service was excellent!! The food took a little long so they gave us free muffins and a sample of one of their drinks. They were both delicious!! We ordered a wrap, pizza and tacos. Everything was delicious but the tacos were my favorite!! Will definitely be going back!!

Best vegan Mac & cheese ever!! And I’ve tried a lot of them. Soo flavorful and satisfying. The Zak is a must try! I love the perfectly smoky mushrooms on top with the delicious sauce. The salad + pico on the side is a lovely fresh addition to the comforting dish. I also had the churro waffle — soo delicious! Seriously my favorite restaurant on the east coast. The intention, donation based, vegan, organic, gluten free, friggen delicious — not to mention the beautiful garden, free produce fridge out front. I’d love to see more models like this, feels like a real gem in the community

This place is a gem. I'm so glad I found it via Google Maps. Great earthy, natural, metaphysical vibe with the assortment of plant based foods, produce, healthy beverages, health powders, and meditation tools like crystals, orgonite (I was shook) and Tibetan singing bowls. The pulled oyster mushrooms in my tacos were a bit salty but overall the flavors were stellar and the presentation was great. Thank you so much for existing. You're totally worth the 30 minute drive :)

Loved it! Everyone was so friendly, and I'm always psyched to support a small zero-waste vegan spot! Forget the name of the tacos I got, but would 120% come back again to get them!

This spot is all around amazing. The staff is amazing and very accommodating. The location, for me, conveniently two blocks away but the Food... the FOOD! Was a-maz-ing. They tailored my dish to accommodate any nut allergies for the kids. I had the black rice and beans (side), tacos with chickpeas (hold the cashews), and mac and cheese. Food was very flavorful. If my kids loved it, then it's gotta be great. I will be returning frequently. #supportlocal
