Nothing is perfect apart from the name. The location is bad. The neighbourhood of the property won't give you confidence as a traveller. There are annoying codelocks on every door, even on the bathroom door. The locks makes announcements like "unlocked" "locked" and beeps the hell out if you don't lock the door quickly. That is so disturbing in the night. Imagine 2 am and the toilet door making beeps and announcements. The bunk beds in the rooms don't have enough space between them and an adult would struggle with the space between them. Windows were closed with a note "do not open AC is on" where there was no AC working There are no proper lockers. There are like small cabinets with latches for padlocks. And if you don't have one then he wants to sell you one for $12. The property was clean though which is the only positive. If you are from Europe and Asia. This place is no where close to the standards. You just won't like it. I will not suggest anyone to go there. Find somewhere else even if you have to spend more. The night prices are close to $60 which it does not deserves. And like other review replies here, if you leave a negative review the owner goes on a revenge mode and reply random revengeful stuff which he creates in his mind because he doesn't want to accept negative reviews. Good luck to him running a hostel...

This hostel and mostly the owner is a total mess. I don't know why this hostel has so many good reviews, maybe only because the owner never shows up. There is no reception and none of the travelers have ever seen the owner. I had a reservation for three nights and I've already paid for it. After arriving in NYC, I wrote him a message that I will be there in around 2 hours but he answered he has no reservation. I sent him my confirmation and he just answered "it's full and he will give me a refund". No "sorry", nothing. After telling him (40 min later) to give me the refund he said that he found a bed for me. I told him I will be there in around two hours, so I went there. On the way he answered, no this will be too late for checking-in lol. that is nonsense because there is only self check in/out. It was night and I needed to stay the whole night in the Penn station with crazy people. Later I asked if I could stay at least for the other two nights. He said yes but he doesn't want to give me a refund for the first night because I stayed for the other two nights. That's ridiculous and makes no sense. Now he is not answering anymore. I am gonna sue him now for keeping my money back. Beside the situation with the owner the hostel sucked too. It's very far from new York city. It is also far from Newark Penn station. The neighborhood is not appropriate for a hostel and the beds are so weak. Oh my god, someone underneath just needs to move the hand and the whole bed is shaking. You can't find any sleep there. For each and every door, even the bathroom door, you need to enter a pin. It makes terrible noises and in the night it is inappropriate.

An apartment have several rooms. Each room contains 4 beds, the prices are fair compared to the service, clean beds and new towels. I liked the rules but didn’t like that area ( city). If you are not used to sleep with a couple of strangers people in the same room don’t go there. It is 3 minutes walking far from the bus stops and 18 minutes walking from the train station.

The owner is extremely friendly and personable. He’ll make you feel welcomed and comfortable. If you’re looking for an affordable, neat and tidy place to stay in - this is the place to come to!

I have to say that Perfect Near NYC is an excellent location. It is conveniently located in Newark, and in walking distance to Newark Penn Station. The house is very clean and safe; and the host goes above and beyond to make the guests feel welcome. The result is a place where guests can feel like they are home, even while they are traveling. I would highly recommend Perfect Near NYC to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Newark/New York City area.

Listen! I love this place! The location is amazing you have the park and the river front around the corner and Penn station right down the street from ferry street! On top of the service friara and his wife prove an excellent service. The rooms are cleaned and well maintained and make sure you’re comfortable during your stay. They are very accommodating and will be coming back! They are responsive and very hands with any issues you have.

I've been so pleasantly surprised by this place! It is as beautiful as the photos. The floors are in pristine condition, kitchen appliances are modern, stainless steel, the bathroom is clean, no mold, looks new, each guest has their own access code which grants access to only the appropriate apartment and bedroom which is perfect for security in a place shared by many. It's very clear a lot of love and money went into putting this place together. The spaces are also cleaned frequently and there's a robot vacuum that periodically cleans common spaces. Host/owner pops in to check in on guests every day or two. There's an efficient system to keep everything running smoothly from name tags in the fridge to lockable cupboards in the bedrooms. The rules are very clear and sensible -keep your stuff in cupboard, cleanup after yourself, no sleeping on the couches, be fully dressed all the time- just how to be a decent human when you share a space with others. This place is also very affordable! The neighborhood is lovely and feels safe. There's a gorgeous bike path and park a block away by the canal/river and there is another park with tennis courts 3-5 mins walking distance away. 15 mins walking distance from Harrison Path and also from a strip with banks, shops, etc. This place is for people who know how to live considerately of others. The rest are going to spoil this gem for everyone else

Love Perfect near New York, for it’s comfort and relaxing setting in both communal areas and bedrooms. The hostel is one of the better ones, partially due to how the building is ran and organized; with safety cameras and self-check in. I’ve stayed over a month, with plans to stay longer as it’s seamless and stress-free accommodation.

Ever since this home was converted into a “hostel” the has been an increase in drunk/high disruptive guests hanging around the stoop into the late hours, the guests are mostly men and bother women in the neighborhood, there have been fights outside. As a woman I would never stay here. As a neighbor…I hope this “hostel” gets shut down because it’s more like a halfway house!

Great place to stay with an even better price! Especially for the amazing quality you get. Mixed dorms, however women get their own room and aren’t mixed into rooms with men. It’s exceptionally clean and very comfortable, as well as relaxing. The guest tend to respect one another and I never once felt concerned for any of my belongings turning up missing. Many are actually very helpful to other guests. Clean kitchens and all are welcome to use it as they please. The owner, Mr. Faria, is reasonable and always willing to help. I’m so honesty, it took some getting used to sleeping in bunks again at my age lol, but it was comfortable and I got along with my bunk mates. It’s not your typical hostel, it’s more like a bed and breakfast, only you make your own breakfast lol. You can’t beat the price for the quality.

Uncanny high-density flophouse run you might book and not have access to because there isn’t any support past 10. Owner very unfriendly, wakes everyone up at 6am. Didn’t sleep.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Awfull service. They don't let you in unless you make the full payment, they keep you on the street but they never specified that you need to pay full in advance. I spent 40 minutes in the street at 12.30 am after 14 hours trip until another guy borrowed me internet to made they payment. They receptionist is a psyco that comunicates only through WhatsApp, extremly rude and unpolite. The rooms have a code access that they change without letting you know. I had to sleep in a couch for a few hours. They also stole personal documentation. I paid 47 dollars to sleeping on a sofa. THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!

One of the best hostels I stayed at! Very clean, the staff is friendly and helpful. I extended my stay here for the 2nd week, because it is what it says in the title - Perfect and 25-30 minutes away from Manhattan on a train. Definitely recommend.

The place is like a prison!! The host is so messed up, he has locks on everything, even nails on the windows so you cant open them, the remote for the air-conditioner is in a locked box😂 there are no table set because he is too skeptic and afraid of them being stolen, everywhere you go there are locks and security alarms. You cant sleep at night because when someone opens any door in the aprt( even the bathroom) a noisy loud alarm turns off!! It was such a nightmare. I woke up every 5 minutes at night, there is no one minute of relief around this place. When i complained to the host he started fighting like a little baby and kicked me out, he took my blankets as a bunishment🤣 god help him. Be aware of this place, all of the other residence here are also complaining about his weird behavior. He charged another residence 50$ fee for a stupid reason. Also, He stays on the cameras watching what happens in the hostel.

Nice clean place in a quiet neighborhood. Not far from Newark Penn or Harrison Station. Only issue I had was with a guest but that wasn't anything that would be the owners fault.

I LOVED IT, EVERYTHING. THE STAFF IS ATTENTIVE AND SENSITIVELY RESPONSE. WI-FI CATCHES IN THE ROOM, EVERYTHING IS CLEAN AND COZY. HOW THE TOP-LEVEL HOTELS HAVE THREE TOWELS, SINCE WE LIVED TOGETHER, THEY WERE HERE THEY BROUGHT A COMPLETE SET OF SOAP ACCESSORIES AND TOWELS! I ADVISE

I have stayed in hostels and B&B's all over the world and I have to say that Perfect near NYC Is one of the best places i have ever stayed. It's clean, it's in a safe location, it's metro accessible, it's with in walking distance of great shopping/restaurants and it has fast high speed internet which is very important for my line of remote work. The tenants are friendly and the owner and his family go out of their way to make feel at home. If you are ever in Newark, NYC or surrounding areas and need a place to stay? I highly recommend Perfect near NYC. You won't be disappointed.
