My compadre’s and I stopped by this establishment hoping to be treated with some yummy yummy Mexican meals and boy oh boy were we in luck! Taqueria Olvera had wonderfully scrumptious dishes packed full of flavor, love, and quality. Everything on the menu was fantastic! The margs were also sneaky brilliant! The service was fast and all of the employees were very nice. I highly recommend that you stop here with your squad for some tasty meals, splendid margs, and warm smiles.

Tacos are phenomenal, Fresh. 90% of the food is made Fresh (In House). They also have good corn salsa.

Never saw Tacos without onion nor cilantro….especially we paid $13. Usually authentic tacos come with two tortillas because these tortillas tend to break apart when folded and wet from salsa and / or meat juices. But this isn’t the case here. They give us only one tortilla…and NO condiment.

After years of driving by, I finally went and I'm not disappointed. I ordered the steak nachos they were good; cost a little over $14. I had my bf try them and he even went and ordered some later that evening. Def will go back to try other items.

I have been here twice now and both time the service and food has been on point. The place is very clean and the service I give a A plus!

I got the steak burrito. The steak was seasoned well along with the rice and mild hot sauce. The burrito had more rice than anything. There is a 3% up charge if you use a card to pay. I didn't see a sign stating this.

Updated review: I've been coming to this place for 3 years and I used to love it...like 5 star love it...I think they are under new management. I love the way the new menus looks and they kept the same options, except the tomales are gone. Here is what else changed and I don't like it... I ordered a no meat taco bowl and they gave me less than a full serving of rice and beans then charged for an extra half portion! We asked for a side of queso to go with our chips and they charged $1 for a 25 cent serving. They took the TV down, which used to play authentic Latin TV shows. On the plus side they have a self serve beverage station now. Honestly, I don't like the new vibe...the energy was not the same and the food was not as soulful as it used to be, although the seasonings were almost the same. I really miss the way it was before all the new changes. ******** Previous review: I posted pics...I just have to say, being from California...this place is truly authentic Mexican food! Taqueria Olvera has amazing food, dare I say the best Mexican Food in the Metro East. I took my mother one afternoon for lunch and we both enjoy our meals. She had a steak burrito and I had street tacos, again they were bomb. The corn tortillas were soft and delicious. We are at the restaurant and enjoyed the salsa music playing. 💃🏽💃🏽

It was really awesome. I got the steak tacos some of the best I've had. Truly a little tucked away gem. We spent $40 for 2 but I feel like it was authentic and comfortable and totally worth it.

This is my second time visiting; my husband's first. The food is amazing! You get so much for the money. Very pleased with our order and will definitely come again!

Everything was delicious ! except the tamales.... they were dry so minus 1 star for that! We pretty much tried everything on the menu , they're a little expensive so be prepared if you're feeding a group.

Super delicious Mexican and fast service. Sorta like subway meets way-better-than-Chipotle pick all your toppings Mexican. It’s definitely hopping and busy during lunchtime on weekdays! The steak burritos are sooo good. Tacos well loved and nachos too. Mini chimichangas are good too. My whole work office loves this place. A lot of people takeout but also has places to sit and dine in. They are friendly and also have a great military discount. My absolute favorite and I’ve already been there 3 times in a month. Can’t wait to try something else.

As a Mexican from California who enjoys the food from Authentic restaurants and my Mama's homemade horchata, I can say without a doubt this is one of the BEST Mexican food restaurants in the Midwest. Their burrito has a wide selection of meats to choose from and their toppings are plentiful with Salsas that are bursting with flavor and spice. All of which are reasonably priced. Their Horchata is authentic and up to par with my Mama's homemade horchata. I will be coming back, hungry as ever ready for more food! :)

3 tacos and a large drink are $16. The taste is ok. I came here at 6 and the meat taste dry. Maybe lunch time would be better. They only give you one tortilla per taco so you have to eat what falls out with your hands (if you take it to go and don’t have a fork). For that price they should come with two like everywhere else.

Oh my goodness what a hidden Gem! I've lived in this area for 7 years now and I can't believe I just ran across this restaurant. I got a steak bowl, so much better than Chipotle. Better portions, and the meat isn't all dry and cold. Great job guys I will be back! P.S my boyfriend got Barbacoa tacos and he loved them! He gave them the Texas approval!

This place has THE BEST margaritas in the area. They make their own mix and have top shelf tequila choices. The food is fantastic, the steak has great flavor and is very good quality. I love the immense amount of fresh toppings and different salsas and hot sauces. Service is great, and restaurant is clean.

The food was pretty good but a bit on the expensive side. I would eat here again. For the two of us, it was around $30. The portion sizes were large and the food was very good. I had a burrito with carnitas. You can choose what toppings you want. It was very big and a bit hard to eat and messy. Very tasty though. My wife had the mini chimis. Again, very good. For those you could choose small condiment cup of cheese sauce, salsa, guacamole….

Beat carnitas this side of my own homemade!! Fantastic serving sizes too. Queso is out of this world. Highly recommend!

Cute mom and pop shop serving delicious food for a great price. The mini-chimis were awesome and came with queso, salsa and sour cream. The burrito was literally the size of my head, delicious and so satisfying. Amazing chips and guac. The agua fresca is not to be missed. The strawberry lime was made with real fruit with all the bitty strawberry seeds in our drink. Super fast service and very friendly staff. Will be back for sure and so much better, cheaper and more filling than any of the big chain store.

A real Mexican food option instead of Chipotle. Not the best ever but not terrible either. A suprise to find in the end of a strip mall. Guacamole and queso were both good. I had the steak and it was good too. The Strawberry Lime aqua fresca was the star of the show. Lots of seating and a nice welcoming staff.

Excellent lunch. Husband got a tamale and steak tacos. I got steak and chicken tacos. Meat was tender and flavorful and topics were fresh. Staff was helpful and polite. Very good meal.

Came here on a Saturday with my daughter around 12. Have to say was not impressed. I got the bowl with brown rice and steak my toppings were tomatoes sour cream salsa onions and guacamole all for a whopping 14 dollars pretty pricey. And the fact that they charge you for using your debit card wow. The steak taste burnt just not impressed. I'll stick to Q doba.

Since moving up here from South Texas I had a hard time finding a good Hispanic restaurants. this by far has been my favorite. food is really good you get a lot for the price.

Delicious 😋 large portions and fast friendly service. Don't expect lengua or menudo on the menu though, they offer the same basic fare as Chipotle but for a much better price.

The quality of food was delicious. All the ingredients tasted fresh. I ordered the steak burrito and the meat was cooked just right, not too over done and not undercooked. I also had the horchata as a beverage and that too was done just right. Not too sweet and not watered down. I will definitely be going back

I'm from Arizona and we lived in California for almost 12 years. Mexican food out here is lacking to say the least, so to find this place was quite a surprise. Each time we've been here, I would get asada street tacos, my hubby would get a burrito and we would share the chips and queso. I love the choices for toppings. They have horchata, glass bottled sodas and aqua fresca to name a few. No pictures, sorry we ate it all too quickly.
