The location is absolutely breathtaking, offering some of the most stunning sunrise and sunset views you could imagine. Whether enjoying the early morning light shimmering across the calm sea or witnessing the golden hues of sunset with a serene ocean backdrop, the natural beauty surrounding the hotel is simply unforgettable. A highlight of the stay was the exceptional dining experience at Zenn Japanese Restaurant. As a hotel guest, I was thoroughly impressed by the exquisite taste and presentation of every dish. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and delicately prepared, while the teppanyaki was cooked to perfection right before our eyes. Service at Zenn was equally outstanding — attentive, polite, and always delivered with a smile, enhancing the overall dining pleasure. The Empire Brunei truly lives up to its 5-star reputation, combining world-class hospitality, breathtaking scenery, and exceptional culinary experiences into a memorable stay. Highly recommended for travelers seeking a luxurious and peaceful retreat.

The room is spacious, clean, and has a nice view. I like how the bathroom is spacious, with good toiletries. However the room itself is quite dated, the TV is not a smart TV like most 5* hotels, in fact, there aren’t much options on what to watch, the furnitures, arrangement and vibes of the room are very classic. As always, service is top notch, very accomodating and friendly staffs, swift to respond to queries and are very helpful. I opt for Breakfast and Dinner, I feel like the Dinner is not worth it as there aren’t many likeable options for the mains, Breakfast is good tho but could be better. Location is remarkable as it is close to the sea, therefore, you can enjoy a breathtaking view. Overall, a good place to stay, I would recommend to try without Dinner.

This is the best hotel I ever stayed and I stayed in many. People are so nice, so hospitable and generous for gifts and upgrades . Hotel is beautiful. Beach is sandy. 10 out of 10.

Positive: Friendly staff. Nice food. Beds are really comfortable. Quiet. Negative: Standard rooms are a bit old-fashioned. I booked on the hotel website for 2 adults and 2 kids but there were only 2 beds in the room ! We had to pay an extra 200BND for the extra 2 beds. This was never mentioned during the booking. Actually, it even read "4 sleepings" on the room description

Upon arrival at the property late in the evening it seems utterly impressive, however once the wow factor passes and you see this hotel in the daylight many things begin to dawn on you. It's tired and in dire need of a fresh coat of paint and a soft refurbishment, one can see mould all over the ceiling in the atrium, the carpets and furniture around the property are past their used by date and the men's toilets are smelly and dirty. Puplic spaces are so vast, that it the hotel mostly looks empty and abandoned and lacks atmosphere as it's just too big to fill up. My sea view room whilst nice and very large was riddled with problems during our stay. Upon arrival the TV did not work properly, some stations had a picture, but no audio. Some with audio and no picture! Given this is Brunei at 10pm in the evening, there isn't a lot one can do, one can't even stream content as the TV is as old as the hotel and lacks smart connectivity and no coffee machine in the room. Fail! Note: The TV was rectified the following day, however upon our departure it was playing up again, but I had given up at this stage and just wanted to fly home. Furthermore, on our second day of our two night stay our bathroom stunk of sewerage, it was dealt with quickly, but the smell took ages to dicipate. Lighting in the bathroom was also a disaster, with some lights in cool white and some in warm white, clashing with each other. Service was ok, certainly not polished or at a level expected for a hotel at this price point and supposed calibre. Example, upon arrival I had to usher someone for assistance with the bags, multiple staff chatting with each other or on their phone texting. Breakfast quality was ok, but the service and atmosphere was lacking, I actually had a chat to the food and beverage manager about this after our experience and did not return for breakfast on day two and drove into town to try a local cafe. Lastly, the lagoon pool is massive, but where is the landscaping? It's just all concrete and pebble rocks, besides a few palm trees and other feature trees there is little in the way of tropical gardens etc to soften the area and make it feel lush like you're in the tropics. Furthermore the furniture is old and in need of replacement, as are the towels by the pool and in the rooms which were stained or torn. Plastic rubbish / waste on the beach in front of the golf course is plentiful, which you could see from your room or the glass atrium in front of the lift, clearly not a priority. Environmentally I would score this hotel 1 out of 5, single use plastic galore in the bathrooms, plastic water bottles etc they need professional management clearly. Concluding this review, stay if you wish to see it, have low expectations as to not be disappointed as it's really nothing special and just a big empty building.

Brunei, for me, is such an underrated gem. The people are incredibly warm, the scenery is breathtaking, and the food—oh, the food! My Asian palate was absolutely spoiled the entire time. There’s so much to discover if you take the time to really dive into what this beautiful country has to offer. As for this hotel, it’s easily one of the best places to stay, especially if you love outdoor activities, nature, and great restaurants. The staff, particularly the Filipino staff, were so friendly and made us feel right at home. The hotel exudes luxury and relaxation, and the rooms? Spacious, comfortable, and the balcony is a lovely bonus. The buffet offered a fantastic variety, catering to all diets—vegan or not—and we highly recommend trying the room service and the afternoon tea (make sure you have a lot of space to fill up because the portion is really generous). The food was not only beautifully presented but tasted absolutely divine (a solid 5/5 for both!). Honestly, one week wasn’t enough to fully enjoy everything. If you’re considering a trip, plan to stay longer. You won’t regret it.

The number one hotel in Brunei! The best one I saw so far. Really remarkable views, very peaceful place and not much people. Perfect if you really like someone privacy. May actually the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen! The staff are super nice and will always be happy to assist you and show you around. A very good experience here and highly recommend this place!

Brunei's only 6-star hotel is located on the beach. The hotel is very beautiful, clean, spacious and luxurious. You can come here to visit and take pictures for free, the staff here are very friendly. However, the beach is not for swimming. You spend about an hour here to visit.
