Deeply
disappointing
experience.
After
arriving
at
the
hotel,
we
were
shown
to
our
room:
it
was
filthy.
The
windows
were
so
dirty
someone
had
drawn
patterns
in
the
filth
and
grime.
We
found
coffee
stains
on
table
tops.
Interior
decoration
of
the
rooms
was
basic
to
say
the
least.
I
complained
and
we
were
shown
to
another
room.
Again,
pretty
basic
looking,
more
coffee
stains,
clean
windows
but
dirty
curtains
(looked
like
either
chocolate
or
blood-
see
photos).
Best
thing
about
our
room?
The
bathroom.
It's
a
good
looking
bathroom
and
rather
spacious.
The
food
we
ordered
to
the
room
(or
bought
in
the
hotel
cafe)
was
fine.
The
cakes
were
of
a
decent
quality
though
and
were
one
of
the
few
highlights
of
the
hotel.
Most
of
the
money
appears
to
have
been
spent
on
the
communal
areas,
like
the
main
dining
area
with
the
vaulted
ceilings.
This
particular
area
looked
impressive.
Other
parts
of
the
hotel
(exteriors
to
buildings,
and
interior
bedrooms
etc)
looked
cheap
and/or
shabby.
Staff
were
friendly
but
often
felt
like
they
were
hustling
to
try
and
get
more
money
from
us
(for
trips/excursions
etc).
I
struggle
to
see
this
hotel
as
anything
close
to
a
5
star.
It's
barely
pushing
a
4
star.
For
the
price,
it's
shocking.
Appallingly
bad
value
for
money.
I
can't
recommend
it
at
all
and
would
never
stay
here
again.
After
Brunei,
we
travelled
to
Mulu
and
stayed
at
the
Marriot.
That
resort
was
cheaper
but
far
far
superior
and
is
much
more
deserving
of
a
5
star
hotel/
resort.
If
you're
staying
in
Brunei,
go
somewhere
else.
You'll
pay
a
lot
less
and
get
closer
to
what
you
pay
for.
It's
just
a
shame
there
aren't
luxury
hotels
competing
with
the
Empire.
If
there
were
I
think
people
would
avoid
the
Empire
(for
anything
other
than
the
golf
etc).
Not
recommended.
Awful.
