TL;DR - Decent food but very bad and condescending service. We were a party of six people so we made a reservation for 21:00 , arrived at 20:50 to the restaurant and the host told us we should wait for our reserved time. Fine, we went to look around in the area and came back at 21:05. After entering they made us wait another 15 minutes. The music was very loud and we could no talk as if we are in a club in Ibiza. We ordered entres and main course, almost all the dishes arrived in time, but a vegan person which was with us didn't got her food. We waited 40 minutes for her falafel, asked about it on 4 occasions. A table of about 10 people which ordered 15 minutes after we arrived got served the dish we ordered first. We cancelled our main courses and asked for the check. Will never go back as there are many better alternatives in the area.

Great restaurant but not necessarily for everyone, make sure you check out the menu and know what you're getting into before dining. It can also get very crowded most nights, I would recommend making a reservation or visiting during the day to avoid the crowds.

We booked the event room at the restaurant for a small family and friends event. The prices kept increasing with lots of hidden costs and no valid explanation. Our event organiser didn’t turn up and we had to deal with a young waitress who was very nice but didn’t know all the details and who asked at first for more money. The room itself was dangerous and poorly maintained: The toilet was broken and one of our guests was stuck there for 15 minutes with no apologies from the head waitress or any other member of staff. In addition, there was a big ramp next to one of the windows which made many people slip and fall. The tables and chairs were old and ugly. The room had horrendous acrostic so we couldn’t play music or have a conversation. People came randomly into the room for the bathroom so we had to stop them and demand them to leave without any help from the staff. The food was mediocre at best and very salty, you will get much better value in a simple BBQ in any venue in Jerusalem. Not all the tables got the food which we paid for and we needed to ask from the waited more than 5 times to bring simple things. There were hairs in the food and the waiters decided to take all the drinks and change them(which were much fewer bottles) even after offering to pay for extras. Half of the tables were wet and stayed like that for the whole event. The alarm went off every 15 minutes. I feel that the food is so overpriced and maybe a few years ago was good but not today!

I'll start by saying that I'm sure it's not like this everyday. Cons (THERE WERE A BUNCH!): 1. Way too loud! Impossible to have a conversation 2. Way too many mess-ups! -They didn't have glasses for us so they offered plastic ones -After getting glasses-they were dirty -One of the dishes was in a dirty plate -A waiter took away our half full pitchers Just in general, service that you'd expected from a standard restaurant. Pros: 1. The food was good and authentic. 2. Great location 3. They did try to make up for their mess-ups,which is nice. Again, you don't expect such a place to make such mistakes. 4. The dessert was good! Not impressed, and probably wouldn't recommend the place again.

DO NOT EAT HERE! As a former restaurant manager I would fire the entire front of house! If you want to enjoy a meal and expect some level of service you will not get it. The staff seemed annoyed I was there. Sat without a menu, never given water, and 1 of 2 drinks ordered were served. They did get the food out quick and beet salad was amazing - I suggest ordering it to go. Was given the check without so much as a thank you and the tip added. Clearly they knew no one would voluntarily tip such sad service. Honestly, the best word to describe the experience is pathetic.

OK considering the constraints - Kashrut, catering to all tastes. IMHO, the food was bland, meat and vegetables overcooked. The salads were good, desserts good but too sweet. It's OK for groups, but I would not return as an individual.

Authentic Moroccan cuisine cherished by the locals as they eat and dance to blasting middle Eastern music making this eats a must visit for any foodie who loves to go beyond the usual Israeli fare. With some amazing dishes that make you scrape every crumb - Hamotzi will not disappoint the inner foodie in you.

This seems like a hip dining spot in Jerusalem with lots of people waiting in line to get in. Although the food is good but the desert is just above average. I would suggest the mix grill and cold chicken liver. Definetly is a good spot to try if you are in the area.

The location is great. The lemonade is nice. The food is very average even below. The prices are above any sense. I won't come again.

8.27.17 - we came here after leaving Hatzol because we waited 20 minutes without being serviced. I'm not sure if it's the culture to chase down the waiters, but Hamotzi was very busy inside, outside, and upstairs and they had a new waiter in training. The food was great. We tried their grilled meats dish, Humous, Okra, and Fresh Chicken with harissa and preserved lemon, all of which were great. Although the service was okay, I think the owner checked on us half way through the meal, which made up for the spotty service. It's nothing personal, but maybe I expect a little more of the basics. I'm glad our hotel, and specifically Simcha, made the recommendations for us. She definitely knows her restaurants and Jerusalem.

The best restaurant we ate on in our whole 10 days around Israel. From the first impression with the nice reception to the food to the nice ambiance. The place is very well located in the middle of Jaffa street and close to the shuk. Worth a visit
