A focal point of reference for moving around Jerusalem. Its majestic structure provides for one of the most spectacular accesses to the old town. Recommended to go through this walking, as if you do it by car you may easily end up stuck. Wherever you walk in Jerusalem, at some point you will always come across Zion Gate.
A historical place, with amazing views and culture. Even though the old City is quite small, it is very dense and not stroller friendly. Google maps can not work well here so keep a local map. Be wary of local young residents who can speak English, they will ask you for money after pretending to help you find locations. There are nice restaurants in the Muslim quarter near the via delorosa.
Here.
Board crossings with armed guards coming onto bus! Was it expected! Building in Pakistan. Get there early! Or you will have very long wait!
A wonderful entrance to a magical city, entertaining the the Jewish quarters of Jerusalem and going down to the Western Wall was an emotional experience, it's a cultural overload. Really appreciated. ❤️
There is certainly loads of history here that needs to be soaked up, the Zion Gate was 479 years old when we visited it! You can see the scars, bullet holes in the wall, a reminder of the 1948 War of Independence.
One night we went out without the guide for a walk through Las Murallas and we did not know that we were at this famous gate. It caught our attention that the cars were circulating there. When they took us, and we found out that David's grave was also nearby. The tree where Judas supposedly hanged himself. We are sorry that we did not inform the Church of the Dormition of Mary because they were doing remodeling work
Gorgeous monument at the entrance to the Jewish quarter at the old city of Jerusalem. I visited there at night, the lighting was gorgeous, this is an incredible piece of history open and free to visit.
You can enter the old city of Jerusalem via this gate. This is the gate that carries history of war with bullet’s sign on the wall. It close to the Armenian Quarter.
Very mesmerising entrance to the Old City of Jerusalem. This is one of the 7 entrances to the Old City, and from here you can enter and walk through the Jewish quarter. If you exit from here, you will be able to visit the Room of the Last Supper (Coenaculum) and the Tomb of David. It is probably easier to use Zion Gate as the reference point to navigate to these landmarks
Unexpectedly walk through this side of the old city and lucky for that because we found where Jesus had his last supper
