A good peaceful place to visit..just 1 km from highway. But some issues are there like cleanliness issue and safety issue. Must visit before 5pm as no security is there.

It's a good and peaceful spot if you want to hangout with your friends or spend some quality time with your better half. You won't find any modern facilities like cafes, restaurants or entertainment area, heck there's even a big possibility that you won't even find adequate network on your smartphone, but this is what natural reserves are suppose to be right? Calm and peaceful, away from the chaos and judgements of city.

The lake is around 2 km inside from the main road NH2 from where it is very difficult to reach the spot through forest (Sanctuary) area via underdeveloped narrow road surrounded by big trees, as generally there is no public transport available. Though it is an artificial lake near Parasnath Hills, its green scenery amidst forests and hills makes it a good spot. But there are no basic amenities (hotels/ toilets/ seating arrangements (few)/foodings) available and the area needs serious attention to be developed as tourist place. It is basically dammed like a reservoir to supply water to the district and its suburban areas. People should visit the place in group to enjoy together.

My third visit with my group. In monsoon. Topchachi lake and the sanctuary is a must visit spot to be covered while in Dhanbad. Surrounded by numerous palash trees, this man-made lake was built in 1924, during the days of the British Raj. The Topchachi Lake expanse consists of the marvellous artificial lake amidst the rolling green hills. The lake was once a favorite haunt for filmmakers, film stars including Dharmendra, Ashok Kumar, Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen have shot several movies by the lake. It covers a total area of 214 acres. Parasnath Hills being located close by makes the tourists visit the lake at the same time. There is no best time to pay a visit to Topchachi. This can be visited anytime as the flavour changes by season. However people avoid the summer time. This place can be visited during timings 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Dhanbad Railway Station is 37 km and Bokaro is 41 km.

We visited Topchanchi Lake in the month of November last year. Dhanbad Railway Station is 37 km from the lake. We took an auto after lunch for visit Topchanchi Lake and reach there within an hour. This place is the paradise of nature lovers. During winter season so many migratory bird visited here. Please visited this place at once either early morning or sunset time.

This place is easily accessible by road from Dhanbad and Bokaro. The world famous Parasnath hill and temple is located very near to this place. The place is lacks in basic facilities and amenities like drinking water, adequate toilets, dustbins, signboard, security guard etc.

Extremely beautiful. One of the best places to visit in Jharkhand. Very peaceful and quite place with the Pareshnath range at its background. Even the Pareshnath temple is also visible from the place. Try to go around the entire lake if you have a 2 wheeler. Or else try to go and sit in the garden area with the seating arrangement.. Opening time- 8.00 Am Entry fee- Rs.15 for 2 wheeler.

Wonderful scenic beauty. This place just 35 km away from Dhanbad. Nice place to hang out with friends. Beautiful opportunity to take some good photographs. Actually it is kind of a dam i think. If you go there by car then you have to give 100₹ parking fees.

This lake looks very nice during sunset. It is only 3-4 Km from NH-2. You can cook foods there. Lake water is very cleaned.
