One of the wonder of the world It is must place to visit in Karnataka if you are near to Bangalore. The main idol of this place is Bahubali which is 1000 year old and tallest idol of the world made from one single stone. It is temple of the JainIt is around 150 km from the Bangalore. There is a railway station also named Shravanbelgola itself to visit this place. And from bangalore there is intercity is going everyday. From railway station one can have any vehicle to this place, from railway station this place is around 10 km. For hotels and lodging there are Dharamshala of the Jain temple if one want to stay. Other wise there are no such hotels near to this place. There are many places like Belur and Helibud like with some ancient temples.

Holy place. The road is awesome from Bangalore to the spot. Specifically the road from highway to the temple was awesome as a biker for me. Enjoyed it.if you are going during summer, ensure you start early else the stones heat up fast. For senior citizen who can’t climb up, there are men who carry you to the top on pay basis. No shops on top of the hill so carry your essentials. No shoes are allowed while you are climbing up and there are shoe stands downstairs. The path is clean so you can climb without shoes. But be mindful about-the heat during summer.

If you are searching for Bahubali Statue Entrance, search for "Sharavanabelagola Jain Temple Entrance" in Google maps. Bahubali also known as Gommateshwara, Kammateshwara is a 57feet monolithic statue carved from Granite by Chavundaraya. This is a must visit pilgrimage centre for everyone not just the Jains, one should try to remember and admire the dedication of Bahubali's 12 years meditation in a standing position. About Venue: - There is ample space for car parking at the entrance near kalyani, costs Rs 50 for 4wheeler. - It's a well maintained temple. - Close to 600 to 700 steps (25 mins hike) to climb to reach the gigantic statue. - Footwear not allowed while climbing the steps, only socks are allowed (you can get the socks at the entrance). - Try to visit in the morning or evening, as climbing gets difficult under the hot sun. - Witness the beautiful Kalyani Water and Sharavanabelagola city bird view from the top. - There is a dolly service for elderly people, (refer photos ) which is regulated by government. Starting from Rs 2000. - Do not miss drinking coconut water after coming down. Also there are 5 Gommateshwara statues in Karnataka at the places below - Sharavanabelagola in Hassan - Karkala in Udupi - Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada - Venur in Dakshina Kannada - Gommatagiri in Mysuru Hit Useful if this review is helpful.

Shravanabelagola temple is a Jain temple. It is a 2 hr drive from bangalore. The temple hosts a 58 feet tall monolithic statue of Bahubali also known as Gomteshwara. It is a bit of a trek to the top ( people with kids please be careful ). It is better to reach the place early morning to avoid the heat as the climb to the top has to be barefoot. ( You can buy socks at the bottom before the climb if the weather is hot) There is locker fecility at the bottom of the hill. Once you reach the top the views are mesmerizing.

A great experience, maintained very well, was not crowded as well. They will not allow eateries to the top of hill, the view from top is good as well. There are stairs to climb approx of 1 km of climb. There is a hotel within a home very nearby where you will get home made and hot food freshly served it is better compared to hotel.

The view of the town and surrounding area that you get after climbing to the top is absolutely beautiful. Although the stairs don't look that challenging while climbing they may cause a bit of trouble while descending, so just be calm while coming down as you could slip easily. An advice would be to wear socks as it provides grip while climbing up and coming down, also if it's a sunny day it could be useful as the rocks get heated up.

The place is quite amazing…. Around a thousand steep steps to climb but when you reach at the top its worth watching the statue of the great Bahubali -Gomateshwara…. The scenic beauty of the city from the top of the building is also mesmerising. The statue of the Bahubali shines like its is just newly made. The carvings on the mountain is just exotic and the art work on the wall of the temple including fish and other chakras is intricate…. Worth going… there is a service of palanquin.

Mesmerizing views from top! They said it has been around from 1000+ years. The top views are awesome covering tanks, coconut plantations & small hills. There are around 700 steps to cover and takes antime around 1.5hr to 2.5hr based on one's capacity. There won6 be any food / water availability at the top, so one must be aware & carry their own if need be. Check out the latest pics for reference.

One of the best built Monolith, when compared with its peers at Dharmasthala & Mudibidre! This shows the marvelous prowess of the ancient architect to create a one beautiful monolith. Parking available, and is charged at 50 rs for a car Entry Free, has washrooms at charged basis Pallaki service available Though it looks a tough climb of 500 steps as you climb you will notice the steps are easier to climb, only at the end they are huge, takes roughly 90 minutes to climb & back to teh parking area. You can see the merging of Devanagari & Hale-kannada languages merging which show the importance of Culture & inclusivity of this region! Yes it's getting old, there are concerning changes which the authorities should take notice in order to avoid permanent damage to the structure.

It is must visit places for Jain devotees. Bahubali or Gomateshwara statue on top of hill is main attraction of the place. You need to climb around 600 stairs to reach the top (took around 30 minutes for average person). You can find drinking water on top but don't expect any other facilities. Quiet and serenity in front of Bahubali statue is worth mentioning. Views from top are also worth mentioning. If you have confidence in your athletic abilities, you can also try to climb Chandragori to reach other important Jain temples on same day. At the bottom, you can park car in side of street (@50 Rs). You can deposit your shoes or footwear inside premises (@5 Rs each pair). You will need to climb barefoot. Washroom facilities are available at bottom only.

After completing more than 1000 steps then you can reach the temple. There is a inscription which had written in prakrit language. It's good place for outing from bangalore.

One of the most remarkable features of Shravanabelagola is the colossal monolithic statue of Lord Gomateshwara, also known as Bahubali. Standing tall at an astonishing height of 57 feet, this masterpiece of Jain artistry is a sight to behold. As I gazed upon this magnificent statue, I was struck by its intricate details and the sense of serenity it exuded. The statue is a symbol of renunciation and spiritual enlightenment, and it truly leaves visitors in awe of its grandeur. The ascent involves climbing over 600 steps, and although it can be physically challenging, the reward is well worth it. The panoramic views of the surrounding landscape from the summit are breathtaking. I felt a deep sense of peace and tranquility as I looked out over the lush greenery and the distant horizon.

This place is calm and good for peaceful time. You can see a lots of god idols there. It takes 10-20 minutes to reach the highest point. Parking costs Rs. 50. If you need to use the bathroom, it's Rs. 3 for guys and Rs. 5 for girls. Also, there's a place to keep your shoes, and it costs Rs. 5 per shoe. Shravan Belgola is Jain pilgrimage where you can find a really big statue of Lord Bahubali. This statue, also called Gommateshwara, is carved from one huge piece of rock and is over a thousand years old, made in the 10th century. The story goes that Bahubali, a prince, decided to give up his royal life and focused on deep meditation to find spiritual peace. The statue represents his journey to enlightenment and victory over selfish desires. People visit Shravan Belgola to show respect to this Jain god and to feel the deep spirituality that comes from its ancient history.

Shravanabelagola temple is located in the Shravanabelagola town, Hassan District, Karnataka. This temple is around 150 kms from bengaluru and approximately 80 kms from Mysore. It is properly connected by road route. The statue inside the temple is called statue of gomateswara, which is regarded as one of the wonders of India. Measures around 57 feet in height, is one of the largest monolithic statues in the world. This statue is made of granite. This was constructed in the year 981 AD. Gomateswara, widely regarded by this name across the globe, is also called bahubali and is worshipped by Jains. He's worshipped by the Jains widely because in the war between bahubali and his elder brother to ascend the throne, bahubali after winning the war, handed over the kingdom to his brother and went on search of absolute knowledge. During this journey, he found it at this place. This town is between two hills, namely chandragiri and vindhyagiri. This statue a and temple is located in top of vindhyagiri hill. There are approximately 700 steps to ascend the hill. The hill is a bit steep as you ascend, and it might take about 30 minutes for a normal person to go to the top. For the rest, it is advisable you take breaks as you might feel short of breath at times. Every twelve years, there's a festival that is conducted in a grandeur manner and is called Mahamastakabhishekam festival. During this time, the temple is very crowded and the statue is cleansed with water, milk, sugarcane juice and decorated with flowers. The next edition of this festival would be in the year 2030. It is one of the most visit places of karnataka.

The Gommateshwara statue, also known as Bahubali, is indeed a symbol of peace and harmony. It’s a 57-foot (17 m) high monolithic statue located on Vindhyagiri Hill in the town of Shravanbelagola in the Indian state of Karnataka. The statue is carved out of a single block of granite and is one of the tallest monolithic statues in the world. The Gommateshwara statue is dedicated to Bahubali, a revered figure in Jainism. Bahubali was the son of Rishabadeva, the first Tirthankara of Jainism, and he is said to have meditated motionless for 12 years in a standing posture. The statue symbolizes the Jain precepts of peace, non-violence, sacrifice of worldly affairs, and simple living. The statue was built around 983 CE during the Western Ganga dynasty. It’s visible from 25 kilometers (16 mi) away and has remained a center of pilgrimage for Jains There are around 700 steps that lead to the top of Vindhyagiri Hill where the statue is located. This makes it a significant pilgrimage site for Jains and a fascinating historical site for others.

Amazing architecture and a huge temple. It is famous for a massive 57-ft high statue of Bahubali, which is the world's tallest monolithic stone statue carved out of a single granite block. There is another temple on the front mountain as well. You have to climb a lot of stairs which may be a problem for people with knee pains but not that much high that it can't be done. Nice to go with friends and family and close by from Bangalore about 150km and can be covered in a day.

Such a beautifully crafted and huge monolithic statue of Bhagwan bhahubali, just amazing. There are hill here , vindhyagiri and chandragiri. Vindhyagiri is huge and you need to climb the hill using the steps carved out on the boulder. Most of the steps are easy but few are too much inclined and might be a little difficult to climb but not very tough for sure. The entire distance from foothill to top of the hill where bhagwan bahubali's statue is located is around 1km. Might be difficult when temperature is too hot because you need to climb the hill bare foot, starting the climb before 10 am in the morning would be good. Might recommend wearing socks and also carrying lot of water, because you won't get any thing at the top of the hill. Place is very neat and clean and hospitality is also very good 👍 The other chandragiri hill is not so huge, it's half the distance and it also well maintained and very beautiful place. I would definitely recommend people to visit both the hills as it is just 500 mtrs apart.
