Beautiful place to relax... have some smoothies and just listen to that beautiful pacific Ocean. The name chocolatera comes from the foam the waves make that's sometimes kind of dark like hot cocoa❤️

Stayed in Salinas for a week and decided to visit La Chocolatera. Definitely worth the visit. A great place to take awesome touristy pictures with a small café that serves smoothies, beverages, ice cream, etc. It’s an extremely safe place to visit as it is located on a military base. Best part: IT’S FREE TO VISIT. All athletic levels welcome. For those who want to take a small hike, there’s an opportunity to do so to get to the observatory shown in the pictures. I suggest taking a taxi to the location ($4-5 from Salinas main strip). Save their number to pick you up once you’re done exploring.

Ocean view was great. The kids loved it. Not much to see when the tide is low. The actions starts at the evening time but you're not allowed in because it is dangerous at high tide.

La Chocolatera is part of 3 viewpoints within the military complex, called the FAE. Don’t be intimidated to walk or drive into the military base. It’s open to the public during the day [till about 5pm]. Within the base is La Liberia, El Faro and la Chocolatera with a small, free museum. Every point has it’s clean toilets. La Loberia is like an open zoo. The sea lions (lobo marino) come to this rock to mate and have their babies. Beside this, La Loberia is also a great surf place. Surfers from all over the world enjoy the waves there.

La Chocolatera has at least 2 meanings in the local terms. It's a feeding place where you may buy and consume some food (you may need to buy water there). It's also a popular name of the peninsula tip with a number of miradors (lookouts). You will, actually, be looking for those. You may spend an hour or more there watching and photographing ocean waves lashing mighty rocks which makes spectacular views.

Cute little surfside town near Montanita but without the noise! $1.50 to get to the party town, but Olon is a great place to relax.

Really nice viewpoint on the tip of the coast of the Pacific Ocean Feel the breeze and enjoy a cup of coffee Free entrance Inside a military complex, so it's very safe Really near La Loberia and El Morro which you should also visit. Many photo opportunities.

Visit one of the western-most points in South America. The water makes groovy noises as it smashes into the shore.

This place is probably the closest I've been toa really mad sea where waves are way too aggressive. Of course, you can't swim here since the waves are too aggressive, but take your camera you will be able to se sea lions binoculars will be a good option as well

This is a tourist place to see nature. I went during the high tie of water so there wasn’t much to see. You are not missing much unless you bring a drone and will appreciate it more the view and the wave crash.

I very nice park at one at the Western tip of Ecuador. There are several places to take pictures. With the right ride and waves there is a blow hole where water shoot into the air. There is beach access. However, few people enjoy this beach because of the waves. There is no cost to get into the park.

Amazing blowhole where the waves force their way into a crevice of the rock resulting in a geyzer like puff of mist. Amazing views of the pacific at Ecuadors most western point. This place is at the end of a peninsula that juts out into the pacific ocean.

👍👍 Just a block off of the Malecón, this museum is a wonderful resource for information about Cetáceos (whales and dolphins). Our guide was fluent in English, Spanish, French, German and Dutch and was very willing to translate into multiple languages to explain to all the members of our group. Mr. Haas...

😐 Perfect place to watch the sunset! Near the Salinas boardwalk, it has a small space to park cars. It is not recommended to enter the sea since the tide is too strong, and it is prohibited by the local government.
