We had a great stay thanks to the owner Maria. She was so friendly and easy going that we decided to stay longer. The place has a kitchen that we used often, very clean and comfy rooms, good WiFi and hot showers and it's only a 15-minute walk to the beach. It also has a big market only 4 blocks away where you can lunch or buy fresh fruit and veggies. I loved the terrace as well where you can do yoga, or simply chill out looking at the sunset. Affordable prices in a friendly environment.

Lovely hostel run by a very nice family. We stayed for 2 nights in a twin room (We had 2 double beds which was amazing!) with breakfast (simple but delicious). The room and bathroom were very clean, and the shower was good. The Señora Maria was welcoming, kind and helpul, and so were the boys at the reception. The Hostel is perfect to go and relax, with a beautiful view of the sunset from the 3rd floor terrace. Not so close to the sea front, in a less touristy neighbourhood (very simple housing but safe). Despite this, going to town was easy and cheap using the tuk-tuks.

Very clean sheets and floors and shower. Maria is extremely helpful and very kind. The room I stayed in (not sure if it's every room) smelled strongly of mold, and it didn't improve in the two nights I was there. And omg the freaking dogs and roosters in the neighborhood never stop making noise. About 20 min walk from the beachfront promenade. Neighborhood doesn't feel unsafe, just very poor. Edit: this neighborhood needs to have a meeting because some house was BLASTING MUSIC at 8:30 AM on a Sunday. How is this okay?

Highly recommended in Puerto Lopez. The owners are very helpful and the rooms are clean. Delicious breakfast. From the hostel you have a great view to the beach. The hostel is a bit out of the city center (20 minute walk or take a motor taxi for 1 $)

I really loved this hotel. The rooms are SO nice for the price and there is a well equipped kitchen you can use to cook. Maria and Oswaldo took such good care of me during my stay there and the views from most of the rooms are stunning.

Good value hostel. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was okay. Located about 15 minutes away from the beach up on a small hill so you get a beautiful view of the sea when it's clear. Would recommend.

It's a bit of a walk up the hill but means you have a great view of the sea and the town. There is a kitchen you can use on the first floor and a lovely rooftop to chill on. The owner is really friendly and the family are super nice. Breakfast was included through Expedia and was eggs on toast, a fresh fruit juice and coffee/tea. Would highly recommend this place if you're thinking of staying in PL.

The owner Maria and her husband are extremely warm and kind people. I felt very safe staying there, as if I were staying with my own family! Breakfast is included which is a great perk! It consists of eggs, bread, coffee, and natural juice. The hostel is on top of a hill. As others have mentioned in the reviews, it is a bit of a walk up the hill, but well worth it. Once you are at the hostel, you have an amazing view of the sea and you will feel a cool breeze. The rooms are small but this does not matter, as you will be partaking in the outdoor activities and tours, which can all be found by the malecón. The malecón is about a 10 minute walk from the hostel or you can take a mototaxi for a $1 and get there in 3 minutes ! Great WiFi. If I come back to Puerto Lopez for some more manta ray and whale action, I'll be sure to stay at Alcazaba!
