Well my wife and I are from Canada and have been living in Manta since June of 2017. We met many American and Canadian gringos on the street as we walked through the city to the mall. We tend to stand out. We quickly became part of the expat community and frequented suggested restaurants etc. That being said we were advised to visit the Donkey Den for Sunday breakfast. Because of our experience we tend to drive here 3 times a week for breakfast. Sunday is the busiest day but well worth the visit as we met with many Canadian and American expats who became friends and part of our social circle. The donkey Den has proved to the most pleasant of all of our food stops as all visitors have become friends and the atmosphere with the rescued kittens and dogs that roam about untethered and intermingling with each other without incident. Amazingly, you.would not see evidence of these animals because of the diligence of the staff and volunteers who make sure they are well cared for. There is no evidence of feces or associated odors. It.is a beautiful place.to.stop, meet friends, make new ones and enjoy the wonderful.atmosphere. Volunteering at this guest house. 2 small studio apartments and 2 larger studio apartments. Sunday brunch open to the public with money going to rescue cats and dogs in the local community. Very cordial staff and welcoming neighbors.

Great place to stay on the beach, but not for everyone. If you like to be just steps from the ocean, enjoy a multinational volunteer staff of young folk, and have breakfast at the "place to meet", this is the place for you. Stayed 5 nights, great social connections, lots of cats and dogs and really nice people. The owner Linda is terrific, and although it's certainly not 5 star hotel, if you want good, clean accommodations, lots of good new people to meet and spending time either on the beach or in a quaint little Ecuadorean fishing village, this is the place for you. Enjoy!

I am still here, was planning on a short stay but the place is very homey, excellent breakfast, great help and staff from all over the world, Due to further travels in Ecuador, We will need to leave by Friday morning.

Great place for a Sunday brunch. You will be able to meet many expats. Nothing fancy but I enjoyed the atmosphere. Lots of cats wondering around.

Fantastic food, all american breakfast family setting got to love animals if you go there Linda is a great host, love her!

It is a wonderful place to stay. Our dog loved the super friendly and well behaved cats and dogs. Super clean and well appointed room. Only thing I would recommend is to bring food to prepare as the store is far and only has a very limited selection of mostly prepared foods. (like boxed foods, not like cold sandwiches) I look forward to another get away out of the city for a few days again.

It is a unique getaway for animal lovers. Beachfront, very calm and beautiful accommodation. The rooms are fully equipped with everything you need. The coffee tastes amazing!
