The receptionist is kind enough. However, the manager of the hotel was so rude. I was having a drink with my friends on the rooftop and he turned up and started screaming at us claiming that we were making a lot of noise when we were just talking calmly and that the place was not a restaurant or bar. Then, he began insulting us so badly. I don’t really recommend staying in this hotel if you want to have a chat with the other guests.

A very nice and clean hostal. Dorm beds are $10 a night and basic private rooms are $15 a night. Great showers, and a big roof top patio. Staff is great, and owner is nice. He speaks English well. It's 1 block from the beach, but is still a quiet place to sleep.

You get what you pay for Yemaya is basic and clean enough that I didn't have any concerns. Yemaya is located in an incredibly ideal location. I stayed in an 8 person room alone (ideal). The room had two separate bathrooms, *if you end up in room 9 I'd highly reccomend only using the bathroom that is a step up as the other ones shower drain backed up and smelled pretty bad*. If you are coming by bus you can save a dollar by waiting to get off in town. That being said Tutu's or rickshaws are extremely affordable in town.

Highlights: the owner was very nice and knowledgable, and knew English very. Rooms were air conditioned and breakfast was great. There's a roof deck which is really nice. Cons: Sometimes the water didn't work (with prompt fixing), and the hot water never works in our shower. The bathroom didn't have a good fan or vent.

I spent a week at Yemaya hostal and didn't want to leave! Miguel, the owner gave some great advice on what to do and see and went out of his way to ensure I had a good stay. The location is perfect, two seconds from the beach and all the tour agencies for whale watching and diving. There is also a beautiful chill out area on the roof where you can watch the sun set. The hostal has a happy and relaxed vibe and is clean and accommodation. Be sure to check out Clandestinos bar across the road for a great coffee and the best Mojito I've ever tried. Both Miguel and Javiquito (Clandestino owner) are very friendly and make good conversation if you fancy getting to know the locals. I will definitely be returning! Enjoy your stay...

😐 Stayed here in April as part of a tour group. Location is great and you are literally across the street from the beach, but the hotel locks up at night and it's a bit of a hassle to get in after hours. There is a nice pool and a good view from the rooftop of the shoreline. In our first level room, t...
