Very interesting but few signs in English so tantalisingly hard to follow it all. Beautiful house. Thursday morning seemed to be when all the school kids visit so no English speaking guides available sadly.

Absolute must-see if visiting Quito. It demonstrates the rich history of Ecuador ,spanning over centuries . This museum truly gives an amazing insight into the development of Ecuador and the changes over the years as well as the history of the building, it once being a hospital in 1800-1900s. Would recommend visiting the 1500-1700s rooms as it depicts the Spanish colonisation in great detail with artifacts aswell as figurines portraying the Spanish invasion. Furthermore these rooms show how catholism shaped Ecuador into the country it is today .

(Translated by Google) Dear Friends and local guides I comment that in the city of Quito a proposal to have fun in a different way is the Museum of the City. You do not only need to go to the shopping centers, since in the center of Quito you can find healthy fun for a whole day with your children, and as an adult you will also have fun, Atravete a ir is something fun, and in the same way you will learn a lot . There are different rooms and environments in which you will spend a whole day entertaining and really dicipated, I am 35 years old and it seemed great to be in this place, resting from the shopping centers, the noise, the noise, and above all learning more about this wonderful country they have a lot to tell and they have a lot to learn. Additional that you keep from the heat of the city or the cold; tafuera you have what you want locals to kill hunger, we were delighted, it is a matter of changing the routine that they sell you as holidays In my opinion, I would visit it again and if I should return with other people, I would let them know the museum since it was a great experience that left me with fond memories. You will learn about the city of Quito, in its past, you will learn about its history, the history of the country, the part that impacted me the most is the exhibition about the old hospitals and how they had the sick. You will see a wagon that according to the guide seems to have a life of its own at night, well everything is part of a great setting for you to have fun. See you local guides.

This is a rather well-done museum of the history of Quito. While there was some English signage, much of the exhibits were only in Spanish. For international visitors, adding dual-language signage would be very cost-effective and would enhance the visit. Overall - very well done and worth a visit.

Very interesting presentation of Quito and Ecuador history from ancient indigenous cultures to Spanish colony to modern times. You could spend 1-2 hours here. The museum is closed on Mondays and during the COVID times it might be closed on Tuesday as well. The cashier told us to wait for an hour for the next guided tour in Spanish or to come another day for a guided tour in English, but we managed to persuade her to let us in without any guide at all. The admission is only $3 or, if you need an English speaking guide, it's $4.

Quite interesting and think children might like it with some things to touch, models and life size displays of times gone by. Plus as in most places in Quito there are spots for a view.

Great museum of the history of Quito city and its region. The museum itself is located in an old colonial style hospital. I personally took 3 hours to visit everything but that was by reading everything. Note that the majority of explanations are in spanish. Further, I would highly advise to call the museum before going there as they tend to close often even if the google maps hours state that it is open. Still a great experience which I highly advise.

Super interesting visit. It is an old hospital with a church next to it. The tour that they provide is so great. Our guide was amazing, he has so much knowleage. I don’t recal his name as it was a very unique one but he gave us so many interesting explanations...I highly recommend it! If you want to know about the history of Ecuador and Quito, this is your place.

Very interesting place to learn more about the history of Quito. The building itself has a lot of history as well. It's not too big so you only need about an hour or so to see the whole museum, but it's worth the time.

What an excellent personal tour, in English, by Gabriel! This museum covers the whole history of Quito from the beginning with a series of high quality and very well presented exhibitions, all within the walls of a beautiful old building. Just a 5 minute walk from Independence Square. If you visit Quito and do not visit, you have definitely missed something special.

Just finished up a tour there with the lovely guide Jessica. It was really interesting and enjoyable. Entrance fee is $3.00 for adults. I took the Spanish tour but I saw they have English ones for a little more money. They had a cool old time buggy or carriage or whatever which was so cool! Run don’t walk and get schooled in the history of Quito!

excellent museum of history and cultural changes in quito. detailed descriptions accompany the exhibits and wonderful artifacts and artwork line the halls of each section. the museum is designed to be experienced as a walk through time, from prehistoric to present day. quite fascinating and housed in a lovely, old building that was previously used as a hospital ages ago.

Simply put, I loved this museo. It is as the guidebooks say: "worthwhile". It's a mix of taking-you-back dioramas, cool historical facts, excellent art, and some religious paraphernalia. If you've fallen in love with Quito--as my wife and I have in our 6 months here--this is a place to come to to learn more about this incredible, historic city.

We stopped in to el museo de la ciudad on a quiet afternoon. They catalog and explain Quito's pre Colombian history up until the 21st century. The selection of exhibits is pretty good if a bit standard fair. The more modern information was very intriguing though. I would recommend this museum to anyone with an interest in the history of Quito.

In the month of October the museum is free and you only have to book your visit, but keep in mind that from November there is already a cost and this amount is important to maintain these cultural sites.
