10 October 2021: An absolute pleasure to be there. I went to the Rosebank Market some Sunday with my friend, I had no idea it even existed. It's a bit hot up there but everything is quite charming. The sellers are really friendly and you can find treasures! I found Bottega Veneta boots, books, and locally made clothes, etc. ⚠️ Just so you know, approxiamtely 80% of the vendors do not take card payments. So you should either have a few money apps (like Snap Scan for example) or carry cash with you. I would recommend hanging there with somebody else, because the experience will be much better. The food is colourful and affordable. From Chinese food, to Thai food and Mexican food to South African food, the variety is a delight for food lovers. Prices range somewhere between R50 and R90 for the food only, but anywhere between R20 to R35 for drinks (I cannot recall the price of alcohol). Update - 3rd of July 2022: The place is still great!

Loved it. The color, the culture, the advancement as you don't even need to walk with cash, every stall has a debit card machine- amazing. I would highly recommended the visit to this market.

Nyamatsatsi Creations Africa was an amazing find on this market. It is a family business creating such fascinating animals that make good gifts or memento of Africa. Mum and daughter were happy to explain their back story.

Particularly enjoyed the selection of used books on sale from some of the stalls. There is adequate variety between South African art, antiques, clothing and jewellery.

Still a great place for antiques and arts... Support the little guys because some may impress you more than any big guy! They will thank you for it. Food is exciting but not amazing, still one of the best markets in JHB, also there's alcohol on site. Plenty of Covid precautions 😉

The best market that I've been to! An incredible variety of delicious food stalls and some amazing shops! There was one specific shop that had awesome fire pits! Definitely a beautiful addition to an outside table.

Great selection of merchandise and crafts. Options from vintage books, compact discs, marbles, cameras, vintage art and clothing to current African fashions, artwork and collectibles. There is a fresh food, an adult spirits "bar", cooking demonstrations , entertainment and more. It"s free on Sundays ONLY...Always a great experience.

It's an okay market. There wasn't a big selection of food or crafts which was quite sad. It's covered which was nice due to the heatwave we've been having as well as if it rains. I would say it's more of a thrift market as well as beautiful African crafts and paintings. It is quite large but the stalls are very repetitive.

World class market. Something for everyone. A childrens play area, fresh produce, delicious cuisine, an antique area and many wonderful African art curios. A good place for locals to visit and a really good place for tourists. Consistently good quality market over the years. Safe parking too

Good market for a Sunday visit and lunch. Nice food stalls. Lots of local products available. The hand made art and decor is fantastic (paintings, drawings and sculptures). The market is located inside the Rosebank mall parking, so it is under cover.

Friendly staff, efficient service and you even forget that you’re in a restaurant. We had an amazing time from the entrance the guy who welcome us (pity I forgot his name) he was very welcoming, smiling from ear to ear. When we say we were attended by Adelaide, she was nothing short of amazing, even offered to take pics of us. Attentive lady she is and interactive, with a bubbly personality. The place is super clean and the whole ambience is very relaxing. The food is tasty, sure exceeded our expectations and easy on the pocket as well. To top it all they have a good variety options for people on plant based diet and that for me was a cherry on top😊

Good Sunday outing if you haven't been before however it has become somewhat monotonous of recent with pretty much the same stalls and products since 2018 or before, limited variety on food and entertainment. At most a 45min walk around and then your off doing something else.

  • 5/5 Marina L. 2 years ago on Google
Great for anyone who is looking for a present or likes to browse. Beautiful African art and some stalls with secondhand items. Yummy food one can buy. A nice Sunday outing!

I love this market. We had lunch and then did our own thing. One son bought clothes, the other got a book and some fudge. I got a big porcelain jug and a teapot. All very cool.

Not as good as it used to be ...although food court has variety of good meals, and Thai masseurs are recommended. A lot of empty space and even regular vendors sometimes just don't arrive :(

It's a great market for traders and people who want breath of fresh air. -The food is amazing and you get different options to choose from. -It's a tourist attraction. -Very Secury, You hace guards all over. -It's great to socialise or network. However it needs more entertainment and acts

Good variety of stores in a car park on L4 of the mall, and the food hall section has a nice sit down area. You have to check out the juice store, seriously the best I ever had, this green juice which is pineapple based with cucumber and celery and ginger is the bomb.

This is a really nice Sunday market at the Zone in Rosebank. It is well organized and has a good variety of stalls and products available and some live music as well. The prices of the souvenirs are relatively high but these prices are specifically tailored to European and American tourists. After negotiating with the vendors and telling them you are from South Africa they are willing to offer more affordable prices. The variety of food stalls is also really nice especially if you’re looking for a different cuisine to eat, it ranges from Thai food to Indian to local dishes as well and the prices of the portions of food are really good. I would like to see more stalls become available in the near future for the food section to include dessert stalls like doughnuts, pancakes, waffles and cakes etc. Overall I enjoyed my Sunday afternoon with my wife and was happy with the market. Definitely recommend it!

The market accommodates most needs, providing for lively entertainment and spacious stalls to provide people with the necessary products for household uses and home aestethetics such as plants and flowers but also giving foodies with items that will satisfy their hunger. Overall a great place to hangout and enjoy yourself while also getting things for the house to make it a home

This market is one of the ideal places to be on a Sunday. Somewhere different for the whole family. Also the ideal place to buy your hand woven shopping baskets, laundry baskets, decor, fans, hats and more. Check out AE Baskets on your next or first visit. There's also food, drinks and a live band. See you there, Sundays only, closes at 4pm.

I've visited the market on and off for years and this was by far the most disappointing experience for me sadly. Perhaps covid has had a serious impact here, it was just very desolate, not enough variety and the vibe was just not there anymore. I hope it comes back to life soon as it used to be an absolute gem on a Sunday morning

Really fun Market with lots of different interesting and exciting stores. People are fun and happy to introduce their stores. Only con would be the place seems a bit dark and dingy in places and ruins the safe environment in certain areas. But overall a really enjoyable walk and shopping experience.

I have attended so many markets and networking sessions but it was my first at the Rosebank sunday Rooftop market. All information kiosks are so helpful. Dana organises these markets like I have never seen before. We offloaded with ease and uploaded with ease. She gave helpful tips for better sales and truly tried to help in every way she could. This was my best exoerience as a Trader. Thank you Dana and team. You rock.

I had high hopes and looked forward to a diversity of hand crafted, possibly unique items, sadly not, there are however numerous stalls mostly peddling the same old, same old African art, masks, and art. The market food court, consisting of around 8 stalls only have a limited and uninspiring selection. All in all, not the Rosebank market that once bustled with variety and endless choice.

I am a Sunday trader at the markets car boot sale section have our on and off day off trading still give it 5 start rating as the market has potential with various antiques and vintage products some reasonable with prices others honestly not so much cultural diversity that makes it so unique
