What a nightmare. When I had miscarriage I went there to get help before I lose the pregnancy. Sitting ther staring at the gynaecologist door was the worst. till I decided to leave without getting help. Tembisa hospital is a nightmare. Nurses just disappear for hours leaving patients hanging, stinking attitude from the staff. Disrespectful. Being rude towards patients The nurses lack sympathy and mercy. They treat people like trash. I don't recommend tembisa hospital.

I gave birth at Tembisa hospital a month ago to a beautiful baby girl. I was admitted for a week before I gave birth via c section. We got 5 meals a day, there was hot water in the shower 24/7, the nurses were kind and ensured to check on patients all the time and prioritised the life of both mother and child...really great improvement

I always heard stories that when people go to Tembisa hospital they never come back but I had a different experience. I got shot while they tried to rob us and I landed in Tembisa hospital. They took very good care of me and I am still healing. Don't believe in word of mouth rather experience something yourself. Thank you to all the nurses doctors and cleaners that work around the clock to save lives

I received the worst treatment from the stuff. They are all rude and heartless. I was in labour pains for three days by the time I got there I was mistreated by all the stuff. They wanted me to climb beds as if I was normal. And spoke to me badly. Thank God all went well with me. Next time I become pregnant I'll make sure I have medical aid. I am never going back to a public hospital. They treat people like animals. Especially Tembisa hospital. They have a culture of treating people bad. And nothing is done about it.

This place is where you go when you want to die. No rooms examine you, they do it out in the eyes of everyone. Waited 3hrs just to make a file. I even went to the private hospital while waiting in the queue, I came back to the same spot. Sick patients just walking around with and without bandages. Sisters just disappear, to nowhere, then appear and start yelling orders. I will never go here again.

I had a surprisingly wonderful treatment from the nurses though they were working under pressure at casualty on Monday 21st June 2021 in the afternoon. They were even feeding the patients. I was impressed since my previous bad treatment. The nurses and Doctors are really under immense pressure and stress. God help them.

Care at Tembisa has always been great until lately. My family and I have received top notch medical care and been treated with respect and compassion. However, last year, my father had to go for an op and they kept rescheduling, they kept him there for four days and each day he only got fed lunch because the next day he was supposed to be operated on. Then it turns out they only operate once a week, so he had to come back. At least then he received the necessary care. Today, he was to go for an evaluation, they were sent all around to different departments and some nurses even refused to read the referral. They were there all day and still no appointment. My brother had to sign a refusal to get treatment despite this not being the case. The staff there has becomeuncaring and don't even know their own admin procedures or where to send anyone.

My brother was admitted to Tembisa hospital with Covid 19. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and he was very sick and struggling to breath. I phoned the hopital to talk to the ER and was told that due to his Covid status he has been placed in the isolation ward until a doctor can see him. They told me that he was put on oxygen and was ok. Every time that I phoned the hospital someone answered and gave me feedback regarding the status of my brother. The nurses took very good care of him the entire 16 days that he spent in the hospital. He was bathed every day. He got 3 good meals every day as well as snacks at tea time. The staff were kind and friendly in ward 23. The doctors were very busy but thorough. Thank you to everyone at Tembisa hospital who helped Mr Etienne Brand during his difficult time with Covid. And thank you for also giving me information when i needed it most. You should be proud to call yourself frontline workers. You do your chosen field proud. May you stay blessed.

Tembisa Hospital may have a very bad reputation but since I have been operated on at this hospital before (sometime late last year) I beg to differ.. I was admitted into Ward 17 on Wednesday the 22nd of June 2022 and was treated like a king on arrival at ward 17. Matthews Gafane was outstanding amongst all the staff members. He went all out to ensure that I felt welcomed and he is so passionate about his work and very humble. I was told not eat before going for the operation by other members of Staff but Matthews Gafane explained to me the reason why I should not eat from 22:00 tonight and highlighted the dangers I could face if I am tempted to eat. I have learned something I did not know. I always wondered why one is not allowed to eat before going under the knife. Fantastic service indeed.

It is with great gratitude to be able to write this review post delivery. I was admitted to the hospital Wednesday 9 Feb already overdue and having been told I would be getting induced. I got admitted to ward 13 a couple of hours later and was waiting for the meds to be administered but dololo and for that i thank heavens that stuff drives people insane. Sister Modiri was a God send and I know i am not the only one that thinks she is amazing at her job and for me stuck out like a sore thumb compared to her colleagues. I gave birth around 4 am Thursday morning and would like to say in as much as labour is a excruciating Sister Modiri helped ease my pain with her kind words and never tiring to exam me time and time again. Sister Khosi I'd also like to say thank you for the tough love from one woman to another. May you do the same for many more women that you come across.

A dear 90 year old friend was taken to Tembisa hospital by ambulance in April last year. He spent a number of days on a stretcher in the passage, completely naked before being moved to a room. No phone, no clothes, no contact with family. He claims, he was drugged to prevent him from needing the toilet for days.Eventually after months of neglect and poor care he was transferred to a hospital in Pretoria where he received a pacemaker, which improved his condition. He desperately wants to warn others against Tembisa hospital. He feels that no one should be treated with such neglect.

I got a referal from the local clinic to Tembisa hospital, so as I have heard a lot of bad stories about this hospital.. I was not at ease, and in fear. as the first time visiting ..and I have received the total opposite of what I have been hearing ..the nurses were so friendly, the doctor who assessed me was so attentive unfortunately I forgotten their names ...I wish the whole hospital Assistance's could do the same and keep up the Great work..we pay certain amounts at hospital.

They don't even deserve a 1 star that's how low the service is. I stayed for hours only to be told the ward I have to go to is closed so I shall come the following day. I then did, took time to get help but eventually did, opened a file for R75 and was told its a fee for opening the file cause it was my first time. I had blood tests and was told to come the following week for results. Today I'm in for collecting results, it's been 3 hrs and I haven't got them, now they telling me I need to pay R75 again for a temporary file, they even said to annokd woman the system has changed so they need her to open a new file so that she can pay. I know it's a government hospital but in the first place people don't have money hence come here to pay all the time is unnecessary πŸ˜’. Worst part paying just to get results hayi chaa. Look at all these people waiting to pay and they only want cash. Hayi ncaaa Nkosi.

Hi my name is Yvonne Ntuli, second time being admitted at Zamokuhle hospital on the 12 - 15 of July 2021. I first want to start with Dr Essel I am very much proud of you once again conducting your work with that humble way of talking to your patience it was not easy decision for one to take refering to myself, but each time you address me for hospital attention needs how you talk to me you simple walk the journey with me in our conversations you really do assured me that im not alone.as much as it is hard for me it is also for you,,, but assuring me that will walk together with your team. my biggest prayer is that God grant you more strength cause I know it's not easy to give support on something that you have never went through personal but looking into circumstances you always put yourself by giving all the support you can give to your patients.once more again please keep on being supportive to us your patients and stay humble as you always do,in God's eyes your work will never go unnoticed. To the Hospital staff be it nurses, admin sides, Potter's, security not forgetting the kitchen staff I just want to let you know how much your sacrifice and service is appreciated not only at this time of Pandemic, but at all times.as a patient I have seen you with all the sacrifice you made on daily basis. Big up to the team shift that was in my service sister Matsidiso Matlou, sister Fulo, sister Ramabo, and ones that I did not mentioned Please continue to be our guiding light during this unprecedented time. Once again thank you so much for your service and dedication, and know that God has you in the palm of his hand πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

I gave birth at Tembisa on the 15 of August @15:35 bed no 06. I was assisted by 3 nurses and i must say, i was the difficult one, couldn't cooperate but those nurses were very understanding and encouraged me that i can do it, while i kept saying "I can't I cant". They really treated me good I must, pity the pain was too great for me to remember their names. Thank you so much

My daughter has just discharged herself, after sitting in a wheelchair since early last night, until time of discharge with acute appendicitis. She was told that there might be a bed available for her tomorrow, and she must stay the weekend to have a sonar on Monday. She is a single mother with a young child, who lives alone. We are 2 hours away. A doctor and a nurse were screaming and shouting and swearing and using racial remarks at her. This in front of the compliance officer She went to the office of the compliance officer, because while sitting in the surgical emergency department, everyone else was being seen to and their files were taken, but they kept on ignoring her. The doctor and nurse ( the male nurse even pushed her) refused to give their names so that she could file complaints about them. Now my child is so traumatized and In tears, she refuses to ever go there again. This is beyond atrocious and disgusting behavior by people employed to look after the sick . The MEC of Gauteng health will be hearing from me

Worst hospital. Was sent from clinic to hospital as emergency. Sat there in Triage reception from 11h30 till 20h00 and still nothing was done When i asked doctor in photo added how long will it still take. Was told the following. I will help you when i want, i don't have time to even pee so you can wait and you won't die now. Even after reporting itvto matron, she sent night supervisor and doctor said she will help when she wants and for all she cares i can't sit there until she goes off night shift. Absolute disgrace.

This staff and their hospital are pathetic. They dont care for their patients. I want to donate clothing to the mothers in the maternity ward but the nurses dont want to accept it over a weekend because its not their duty to accommodate donations. Their laziness has a direct impact on the new moms. Those moms could use the clothing during this change in their life but some people just dont care.

This hospital is an example of a failed government the staff are so overwhelmed they dont even know what to do. This is so sad. If I had a choice between going to this hospital and staying at home dying Id rather go out with dignity. Shocking how our government just does not care.

My girlfriend was admitted on Sunday night with a lung infection and pneumonia, apparently she's still on a stretcher at the passages as they say there are no beds..We tried to go see her but we are being turned back and when we try call her, her phone just rings, we got an alternative number from the hospital but we are not allowed to speak to her and we don't even know how she is, if she is eating or on any medication. She tried to text us saying she's fine but she can't talk and we fail to understand why.. This is truly horrifying. it's bad enough we can't see them but not even speak to the patients on their own phones too? They are killing our loved ones and something needs to be done

took my two weeks old boy there on the 5th February 2023... we arrived there at 22:30 we waited for him to be admitted which was at 04:50 okay fine!!! He was in high care ward 5 where he picked up n was well he therefore was transfered to ward 3 n he was very very well that they could discharge him but they kept running tests on him as if he was some sort of their experiment animal, putting him drips of blood. Two minutes two minutes they put a drip of water on a person that is okay.. then come again and take the blood n when you ask they say they running test now my boy has rash all over his body also on his tongue...his face is swollen, his coughing in a way that the nurses hide it to us that what's wrong!!! Am also a medical practioner whos working as a security officer but i do know that whatever you do on your patient, you have to tell them if they old enough or tell their parent/guardian but then here are just a bunch of students practicing God knows what on patients... Well I guess not having a medical aid is a big problem... hence some staff members are performing unethical practices on patients is cause every government worker is entitled to have a medical aid so they know that none of them or their family members will undergo the same experience... they just there to rate not to work

No lie, some Nurses at this hospital are very rude, but most were very understanding towards me. I was in a very difficult position where by I almost lost my life, I dnt really want to go in to details, but I really appreciate Dr Lombard and Dr Kheswa, they were attentive and caring, they are really God sent. The hospital has really good doctors, thanks for the team I received that day, pity I dnt remember all of them.

My son was only 2 months when he was transferred from kalafong to Thembisa hospital and was admitted ward 6 PICU, first thing I did was too check the hospital reviews I was not really impressed, I was very scared and wanted to take out my child to a private hospital but because of money I had no choice but to trust then with his life..he stayed there for a month and 2 weeks before we were transferred back to Kalafong, what I have realized and learned in thembisa hospital nurses and doctors do need our support as well. I as a parent will ask their schedules and I will make sure I always ask if he was attended, fed, got medication, and every time I spent there I would make sure that I keep reminding them about each time and I visited averyday when im at home i will call to check if my son is still okay so the more we ignorant to our love ones the more they also feel comfortable and relax but when they having support they act now my son his doing very well from their care and support from me as a parent

To all the Doctors I met during my stay you all are doing a great job, to the nurses, the cleaners, the food caterers, the blood tester and every staff in the hospital, you are doing well and better than I had imagined. I am grateful to have witnessed a great job well done. May you stay blessed, focused and healthy yourself. PS. Thank you for the ABT ward nurses for their daily devotional.πŸ€πŸ™πŸΎπŸ’™

The nurses are so dismissive and rude. They almost killed my baby by inserting a tube in her incorrectly and were so nonchalant about it. Today i am told there are no Drs because its a weekend and i need answers. I regret coming here to be honest. Ward 13 KMC and ward 4 NICU. Terrible people.

Hi I brought my Dad in, he had gangerine in the toe, so he had to be admitted. The casualty ward/dept was scary. But the security guards were compassionate, brought him water. At the help desk Sophie was helpfull I kept calling to ask how he is doing and she checked. Later the next day he was still in casualties, I went to see him. This friendly lady came from nowhere and introduced herself as Sophie. She was wonderful. When my Dad went to a ward he was in ward 19. The staff was nice. Richard and Dr Moloi and the nursing staff was kind to him. Unfortunately when he came home he suffered complications and we took him back, but the casualties was too busy to attend to him. They were stretched thin he was then transferredto ward 10... and passed away the 24-11-2022I can't complain about Tembisa Hospital. I wasn't the one lying there, but I could see compassion towards my Dad. I could see they tried. The garden was nice and clean, the wards were clean. Just wish there were more beds and more staff in the casualty ward.
