Goundens Fourways

Indian takeaway

😠 Ordered 2 lamb bunny chows about an hour ago, began eating one now and came across a piece of plastic embedded in the food. It’s the type you find on clothing tags. Your lamb bunny is R140 for a quarter bunny, and now I must stop eating something that I paid quite a bit of money for because of this... People often mention bunny, meat, gravy, good, delicious, chicken,

This review is a long time coming. Thank you so much to Ronald and team for the bunny chows that was catered for my team lunch. The food was delivered hot and the bunny chows were enjoyed by every member of the team without any complaint. The bunny chows were flavourful, had plenty of gravy and meat and Ronald had also supplied extra salad as well. Thank you so much for the professionalism and making the process from ordering to delivery absolutely smooth. If anyone else requires catering to be done for events please know that you are in good hands when you choose Goundens

Place was very neat, and clean. Bunny on the other hand had way too much gravy, less meat, bread was hard and potatoes were not soft. Can be improved.

Really a gem of a place. Best curries in jhb north after a long time... Tried their lamb, chicken and kebab bunnies and all were consistently great. Good quality meat, fresh bread and perfect amount of gravy. Right meat portions. Well done guys and keep the consistency please. We will be supporting this place for a long time

I know we all experience things differently, but the reviews were completely misleading. Walked into the establishment and there were two staff members. The gentleman who was in front chose to ignore us and only attended to us after we had been standing there for over 5mins and asked if they were operating. He then proceeded to call the lady at the back to help us. We put in our order and waited quite a while before it was ready. The biryani was okay (could've been better)...contained only one gigantic potato, which wasn't fully cooked. The dhal was bland and watery, and the carrot salad?...so so dry. The good thing about the bunny was the fact that it wasn't assembled at the restaurant. It was edible, but honestly, it was nothing to write home about. Samosas were dry and burnt. Nothing about the experience was pleasant. I will not be buying from here again.

I've eaten here sometime early last year, I was not overly excited about their food. I went there today to get some plain rotis (there's is excellent) and got a Mutton Roti Roll too. Sublime, what a fantastic smack of flavours, really decadent and a generous serving too. I tjink I can become a fan, I will most certainly be back to try the Mutton Bunnie, that's my gauge of "good or great". And, from the constant flow of foot traffic, seems to be a very popular place. Try it out, I think this could become one of your favourite Indian places.

Despite all the negative reviews of Gounden’s Fourways on the social media foodie groups, I continued to support them, even if only for their chip cheese roti, which is half decent and properly sized for the money - think Sunrise Chip n Ranch at Jhb prices. Tonight, I literally had my fill with them though and will never again support them. My wife phoned through a takeaway order, which was taken presumably by the owner of the shop, who said that he would phone through the order to the store and that I could be there in 25 mins to collect. I arrived in time and was told that the mutton breyani that my wife ordered was now sold out and that she should choose veg or chicken breyani instead and take that with the rest of our order, which was ready. No call to my wife, to inform her of the issue, no apology to me, no please accept our apologies and take a veg, or chicken breyani on the house from us - nothing. A lesson by them, in how not to deal with customers instead. Needless to say, I left the store without buying a thing and certainly won’t be back.

Greetings everyone and Gounden's family and staff, I went to place an order at Gounden Fourways... the food was so divine and delicious especially Chicken curry. I enjoyed the meal. I also ordered broad beans and rice (see attached pics). So delicious! I recommend people to go to Gounden Fourways Restaurant. The staff are so professional and the owner. Great service indeed (5 stars) I was hoping 100 stars :) Keep well and stay safe!!

Absolutely disappointed for 2 quarter mutton bunnies at R115 each there was only 9 pieces of meat and 2 pieces of potatoe that wasn't cooked thoroughly. The gravy was grainy like it had dhall mixed in. To the owner if you want this sort of reviews and comments on your food, how do you expect to get customers come back to your establishment. You don't even offer hand wipes or water in a bowl for customers to clean there hands before or afterwards. This place is a total let down for the Goudens Name.

The man behind the counter was half asleep when I got there, wanting to charge full price on special items. And overall, the food was not good. You could taste that the bread was stale, the curry was just hot and barely any chicken in my bunny chow

Bought a mutton bunny chow and was impressed with the quality of the food. It had generous portions of meat, potatoe and gravy. Will definitely recommend to anyone wanting to experience fine durban style indian cuisine.

Service was not good. Chicken bunny had odd pieces. Sugar beans was average. Menu online is different to the actual prices in store.

Got a chicken bunny chow, not bad at all for a Gauteng one.

Goundens 😋… Durban Bunny Chow away from Durban! Always delicious and I got to recommend their Soji (Semolina sweet dessert). Hats of to the store owner/manager. Always pleasant and accommodating. Keep up the good work.

Basic Bunny. Curry was just spicy hot no real flavour. On the positive the quantity of meat to bread ratio was decent but it was flooded with gravy, not everybody enjoys a plate full of gravy. R105 for a quarter is a bit overpriced. The meal was worth at most R85. Definitely not the same Goundens from Durban...copied the name, not the taste.

What an over charged disappointment. Watery sauce, 1 massive potato and 6 small pieces of meat for R105. Do not support

Excellent service, delicious food. Our weekly bunny pitstop. Kebab bunny is out of this world.

Food is great but limited on vegan options. More vegan options would definitely have got more stars.

Enjoyed a delicious beans bunny and mutton bunny. Was so tasty and just like our Durban Indian cooking. Lots of gravy, meat, potatoes and salad.

Very very very delicious food. Decently close to Durban curries and that's saying alot! The soji is divine and not too sweet, which means you can eat more without realizing it. My only critique is that the curries (specifically broad beans and sugar beans) where a little to spicy. Don't get me wrong, I love spicy and flavourful curries but this was a little over the top. Now disclaimer, I'm writing this review without the knowledge of goundens having different spice levels of the curry. If they do, then this is a 5 star review. If not, then I recommend toning down the spice level - just a smidgen.
