يقع متحف دار السرايا على السفح الجنوبي لتل إربد الأثري وهو بناء قديم يعود للفترة العثمانية ويؤرخ لذلك نقش حجري يعلو البوابة الرئيسية يشير إلى العام 1886م، وهو التاريخ الذي حول فيه البناء من أنقاض قلعة قديمة غلى مقرا للحاكم العثماني. عملت دائرة الأثار العامة ومنذ عام 1994 على استملاك البناء وإنقاذه من الزوال واستمرت أعمال الصيانة والترميم والتأهيل لتحول البناء إلى متحف افتتح عام 2007. العرض المتحفي يتمثل في سبع قاعات للعرض تبدأ بقاعة إربد وخصصت لعرض معلومات تتعلق بتأريخ ومعالم المدينة ثم قاعة التعدين وقاعة العصور الكلاسيكية وقاعة المنحوتات وقاعة العصور الإسلامية انتهاء بقاعة الفسيفساء، وقد اعتمد مبدأ التسلسل التاريخي في عرض القطع الأثرية إلى جانب العرض النوعي في قاعة التعدين والفسيفساء، في حين استغلت الساحة السماوية للبناء كمعرض مفتوح للعديد من المنحوتات الحجرية من توابيت وبوابات حجرية وتاجيات. عدد القطع المعروضة: 600.عدد القطع الكلي المسجلة: 7144.عدد لوحات الفسيفساء: 85.عدد قطع العملة: 1334.
