It's actually a nice museum with lots of artefacts on display. It's a bit off the path but totally worth visiting.

(Translated by Google) COme lost an archaeological site so beautiful? Included in Jordan Pass, you can easily get in the car and deserve at least 2-3 hours to visit them calmly. Another great site to visit: from here you have a spectacular view of the Golan Heights, Lake Tiberias and the Jordan Valley. (Original) COme perdersi un sito archeologico così bello? Small museum showcasing some of the finds from the area, many of extraordinary beauty. Also learnt that the basilica of Umm Qais features on the JOD10 note. Definitely worth a pop-in. I was also allowed up on the roof for the panorama. Oh, and there’s an amazing huge stone door that kind of opens and closes.

This site is kinda underrated, and unrightfully so. It's a beautiful testament to the roman legacy even in such peripheral areas. The site comprises a temple and the shops below it, a nymphaeum, an amphitheater, and the roman road that linked this place to the rest of the roman territory. It also has a beautiful panoramic point from which you can admire the beautiful landscape of the mount and the Sea of Galilee; you will then see the Palestine and Syrian territories (now occupied) and the Israel border with the Jordan valley. If you have very good eyes, you could also catch a glimpse of Nazaret.

12/04/2021 Very nice museum, a great display for the archaeological artifacts, very respectful staff, very enjoyable, very clean, very good for children and families. When you saw the artifacts you'll think about how did they had that level of talent especially sculptures, it is very detailed, and the mosaics are very beautiful. Very recommended visiting if you in Jordan or if you come to visit Jordan, don't miss this site it is worth it.

(Translated by Google) Umm Qais Archeology Museum is considered one of the most important historical archaeological museums in the northern Jordan region, and this museum is located on the Acropolis high of the ancient city of Wall (Umm Qais), which was built at the end of the nineteenth century AD at the end of the Ottoman period 1860 AD This house belongs to the Faleh Falah Al Rousan family It was called (Al-Rousan House) in honor of that family, and when the General Archeology Department acquired the archaeological site, its inhabitants left and the house was restored in 1990, and was used as a museum to preserve and display the archeology of the Umm Qais archaeological site. . The museum planning system follows the old Arab architectural style, which consists of a spacious central courtyard surrounded on all sides by a number of rooms and offices with different uses. The building consists of two floors, the second floor was added at a later period, and the second floor contains balconies to enjoy the breathtaking views that can be seen from the four sides. From the east, Tel Jabo and Tel Ras Ras and Tal Irbid appear, from the south Ras Munif and Jabal Ajloun, and from the west the Valley of Arabia, the Jordan Valley and the Sahel Umm Qais and Jabal Al-Tabur, from the north, Nazareth, Lake Tiberias, the Golan Heights, the Yarmouk Valley, and Jabal Sheikh. A small dome rises above the main entrance, and the building style shows the architectural influences from Syria and Palestine. Umm Qais, location 110 km North of Amman (Capital of Jordan) on a broad promontory 378 meters above sea level with a magnificent view over the Yarmouk River, the Golan Heights, and Lake TIBERIAS. This ancient town was known as GADARA, one of the most brilliant Ancient Greco-Roman cities of the Decapolis.....Higly recommended.

Umm Qais, also known as Gadara, is an ancient city located in northwestern Jordan. It was once a thriving member of the Decapolis, a league of ten cities that flourished in the region during the Roman era. Today, Umm Qais is a popular tourist destination, known for its well-preserved ruins, stunning views, and historical significance. [Image of Umm Qais, Jordan] One of the most impressive features of Umm Qais is the Gadara Roman Aqueduct. This ancient engineering marvel was built in the 3rd century AD to supply water to the city from a spring located several kilometers away. The aqueduct consisted of a network of tunnels and channels that stretched for over 100 kilometers. Today, only a portion of the aqueduct remains, but it is still a testament to the ingenuity and skill of the Roman engineers. [Image of Gadara Roman Aqueduct, Jordan] In addition to the aqueduct, Umm Qais is home to a number of other important archaeological sites, including a Roman theater, a hippodrome, and a necropolis. The city also offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside, including the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights. **What to see and do in Umm Qais:** * Visit the Gadara Roman Aqueduct and learn about its fascinating history. * Explore the ruins of the ancient city, including the Roman theater, the hippodrome, and the necropolis. * Enjoy the stunning views of the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights. * Visit the Umm Qais Museum to learn more about the city's history and culture. * Take a walk through the picturesque village of Umm Qais and interact with the friendly locals. **How to get to Umm Qais:** Umm Qais is located about 120 kilometers north of Amman, the capital of Jordan. The best way to get to Umm Qais is by car. There are also a number of tour operators that offer day trips to the city from Amman. **Tips for visiting Umm Qais:** * Umm Qais is a relatively small site, so it can be easily explored in a few hours. * The best time to visit is in the spring or fall, when the weather is mild. * Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as you will be doing a lot of walking. * Bring water and sunscreen, as there are limited facilities on-site. * Be respectful of the archaeological site and do not remove any artifacts. **Overall, Umm Qais is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, archaeology, and stunning scenery. The Gadara Roman Aqueduct is just one of the many highlights that make this ancient city so special.**

Nice piece of history, or what is left of it, since many houses have been build on the site using the stones from the old buildings. But different from the other places in Jordan, because of the stone used to build.

A very small museum - less than 15 minutes to see everything in it - displaying things recovered from the Umm Qais site. When we were there, many of the displays were empty and the whole place was disorderly. Just take a stroll through it while exiting the Umm Qais site.
