Beautiful and well persevered Bizantine Mosaics. Lots of churches showing how religion has evolved through the centuries.

A stop along the tourist trail. There are several mosaics on the floor and an ancient Roman road outside. The mosaics are nice to see if you enjoy this type of ancient ruin. There are several tourist shops around the area to buy souvenirs or to get something to eat or drink.

Very interesting place.. Well preserved mosaic back to ancient times.. Entrance fees are cheap 0.25 JOD for Jordanians and 3 JOD for tourists. And the ticket allow you entering 4 locations with no extra fees. In my opinion it needs more graphical information and story board like to connect to that era.

The ideal first stop for all who visit Madaba. As one of the main cities traversed by the Roman road, Madaba ruins show a long history of continuous habitation by different rulers and cultures, relics from Roman to Byzantine to Islamic times can be seen in the same area. Unfortunately restoration has been slow, probably due to the costs involved, with the present situation not conducive to investment in relics. For Jordanians entrance fee is 250 fils for 4 areas, for foreigners 3 JD. Some areas are closed due to ongoing restoration.

Very nice mosaics and included in the Jordan Pass. The archeological park consists of several locations scattered around town. Walking from place to place also provides a nice feeling of the old city. When there are not many visitors in the archeological park, the employees try to make extra money by acting as an unsolicited tour guide. Just mention right away that you don't need a guide and they will let you explore by yourself. There are enough information signs and the "guides" only seemed to have memorized these (in some cases with very little success).

Worthy park to visit, those mosaic pavements are over 2000 years old~ U can tip the tickets cashier if he had time to guide you around and give nice explanation.

Mosaics, ancient remains of a byzantine road, sanctuaries ... not to many guides to ask them for more information about the artifacts.

This "park" is an open air museum with some large, beautiful and intricate mosaics from the Byzantine era. It's located in the center of the Madaba town at walkable distance to other sites like St George's Church & John the Baptist's Church. Some of the big mosaics are preserved in place and they are the best part of this park. A lot of the mosaics are cut out of their place and displayed on frames - a few of them are quite detailed and beautiful. There's also a mosaic school nearby but it was closed when were were there.

It's nice to visit and has historic mosaic paintings. A lady started following us and saying things (which was already written). We spent about 15 minutes as we were in a hurry and then she charges money for being a guide. I told her she should have told before and I had never asked for one in the first place. Beware of any friendly people who starts talking a bit and then end up asking for money.

Our stop at Madaba was mainly for the mosaic map in the St. Georges church but it was our visit to the Madaba archaeological park in Feberuary 2019, which was the highlight of our Madaba visit. The mosaics inside the cathedral and the house are beautiful and intricate. The mosaics of the four seasons, the peacock and the tree of life are stunning. Do visit!

Beware of the tourist traps here. The so called guides will force u to listen to them and pay them a tip. I would say out of all the tourist places in Jordan, this one can be skipped.

Free for Jordan pass holder. You can find the remains of several Byzantine churches, including the mosaics of the church. One of the best sightseeing spot of Madaba. Have the information of the individual spot available in English. Recommended

This was our favorite spot to see in Madaba. It had massive mosaics and they built walkways and stairs around it so you could have great views. Has a bathroom at this location. Cost is 3jd/person or .25jd/person if residents, kids are free. Very close to the visitors center. a man who owns a Mosaic shop around the corner told us about some of the history and showed us how mosaics are made. Highly recommend visiting his shop (if you walk from the visitors center to here you will pass by it).

Check out my picture of the holy tree - this what happens to gray mosaic stones on the ground when water is sprayed on them - the colors emerge. Only sprayed pieces have color. Check out the old roman road and temple, these are interesting for someone who is interested in history

(Translated by Google) A pity that you try to enter and although it is free with the Jordan pass the same man who points you on the list, sticks to you to try to explain four things in English and then asks you to tip. As much as we have told him that we did not want a guide, he has insisted on accompanying us with a lovely smile and an infinite peace and in the end we have had to give him 7 turkeys for the visit. (Original) una lástima que intentes entrar y aunque sea gratuito con la Jordan pass el mismo hombre que te apunta en la lista, se pega a ti para intentar explicarte cuatro cosas en inglés y luego te pide propina.
