great location, you can drive yourself to the accommodation and it has its own carpark. I did the jeep tour with Oryx hostel booked thou Ahmad (who was very friendly and helpful and spoke good English) and they made it very interesting and I felt safe with there driving. good English is spoken and the air con was great.

The owner is a very helpful, funny person. He really made us the best price for the tours we booked. We had two tours with him and his cousin, both amazing. The Hostel itself is nice and the tents have air-conditioning and a nice little bathroom. If you sit at breakfast in the morning you have an amazing view over the mountains. The breakfast on the other hand was a bit disappointing. Litte variety and once another couple and us took from it once, it was almost nothing left anymore. The kitchen was not very clean and so we didn't book the dinner for 10JD. If you want a knife for the breakfast you have to ask. All in once its a nice place and Ahmet is very nice.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owner is a very nice person that is really happy to make your stay an adventure. The place is not all the way in the desert but in the Wadi Rum Village, so you have the basic needs covered. Running water, markets just a few minutes walking away and a small kitchen if you want to cook something. The owner offers great tours for a reasonable price.

    - What’s wrong with your foot? - I hurt it as I walked in the desert. - You should wear shoes, everyone knows that. Does it hurt? - Not really. - Then it’s nothing serious. This is what little Khalifa told me, the son of Oryx Hostel owner Ahmed. Relying on Ahmed’s services, I spent two nights in the desert, one in a bedouin tent, the other in a Martian bubble. Unforgettable! Ahmed, his family and friends gave me a full day jeep journey showing the best treasures of Wadi Rum, a camel ride, and two magical sunsets. Their cooked lunch, dinner and breakfast tasted fabulous. Spending the night at his air-conditioned tents in Wadi Rum village is a good alternative for the budget-minded traveler. Ahmed has much more than accomodation - he’s your trusted guide through the desert.

We stayed at Oryx several times over the 2 weeks we were in Wadi Rum. The rooms are basic but they have everything you'd need before and after a visit to the desert. Our host was very accommodating and would provide towels, etc upon request. We also arranged transport into the desert for our climbing trip but other options such as driving tours can be arranged. 15 per person per night including breakfast and 20 with dinner is a very reasonable price for the area. Plenty of tea and coffee available in the main area as well.

We stayed with Ahmed one night in his cute village camp. From the very start we felt welcome and almost part of the family as his son Khalifa came with us on a thrilling jeep ride in the desert, ending with an unforgettable cup of tea watching the sunset on the dunes. After a generous dinner, we all played dominos together, listening to bedouin stories. We recommend 100%, and will be coming back. Thanks Ahmed 😊
