Walking a short distance past the Treasury you'll come across the Nabatean Theatre. This massive theatre has been cut into the hillside and is surrounded by nearby sandstone walls littered with ancient tombs. It's worth seeing and it's too far ahead and there's toilets on the way! Hope to see you on another adventure!

Monumental theater at the end of the Street of Facades. The Theatre was chiseled out of rocks, slicing through many caves and tombs in the process. Thousands of people used to gather here to attend cultural performances.

A beautiful amphitheater carved right from the mountain rock. It's a little different from the other ancient theaters in Jordan because of its (grand) setting and the play of colors throughout the day - pinkish red in the morning, dirty red in the afternoon and brownish in the early evening. It's surrounded by a lot of small Nabatean tombs, affirming that it's a part of Petra. The panoramic views of this place from the trek to the Treasury Viewpoint are also spectacular.

Rock cut theater. Amazing. Beautiful view from the opposite rock. The theater is near the Royal tombs.

This is one of the majestic places you will ever see in your life. This is a must do while alive, do not make the mistake and not see this wonder. There’s so much to do and see here. Make sure you start right at the beginning of the day, to make sure you see everything. I would recommend buying the two day pass, it really does take a long time to see everything especially if you climb up to the monastery.

Amazing place to walk around and discover history. Basically cappadocia meets luxor. You can actually feel the scale that history had here. With the nabateans, greeks, romans, all there! The rock is beautiful.

Nabatean theatre. Google Maps has named this as Nabatean theatre. Ant one can see the the stamp of Roman architecture. I would therefore prefer to call it Roman Amphitheatre. Typical theatre with semi circular, rising seating arrangement with semicircle facing the stage. Arched tunnel dug in the side of the stage seems to be entry to theatre. There are lot of room like recesses near the seating and stage could not find out their purpose.

What an amazing place to visit. The place is so big but Totally worth it and i highly recommend it. It is an open museum every where you turn you would be amazed by either natural or manmade arts. Imagining what it would be like if you visited this place on 300BC. Even nowadays with all what we have it amazes us how beautiful it is

Good to see it from high up. If you go up to the Tombs you can carry on and you don't need to come back on the main road to continue to the Treasury.

Carved from stone hundreds of years ago, the Nabatean Theatre in Petra, Jordan is an architectural marvel. Ascend hundreds of carved stairs to find a huge open-air theater with amazing acoustics which enables sounds made on the large circular stage to carry to the seats meters away. Stand on the same stage where events and speeches were once made, connect back through the ages, and imagine Nabatean culture at its height. The theater pays tribute to the sophistication of these ancient people, made evident in the sheer size, acoustic mastery, and enduring legacy of this carved natural wonder.

Well preserved theater and just a short walk past the Treasury. Worth a quick look.

Incredible historical place of Nabataean theatre. One of the remarkable places in Petra, built by the Nabataean Kingdom under Aretas IV around 2 thousand years ago. Having Roman routes the amphitheatre was built in a specific Nabataean style. Worth a stop on the route and a more detailed exploration. It's also possible to climb up the opposite side hill and have a perfect view from the top.

ransport inside petra: 20jd return to Treasure's point and 40jd to Basin's area + I don't know the price of donkey going to Monastery. Travel time by walks and taking a pictures from the gate to Monastery around 6-8 hours. This place is small and a lot of restoration other than sitting are of the theatre.
