A nice place to visit while in Jerash. Don’t recommend this place to visit with kids. A lot of walking and no activities for them. Otherwise a lot to see.

40 mins drive from the capital .. must visit this place .. you can take a Uber from Amman and it will cost you 15 JD one side .. entry fees for non Jordanian is 10 JD .. some of the sales man will tell you about the place and will insist to take your picture from your device later they will ask for tip.. which is okay .. must visit place if you come to Jordon.. Jerash archeological site is quit big and you will need at least 3 hrs to visit each and very architecture..

The Jerash Archaeological Museum is located on the rise East of the Oval Plaza known as Camp Hill. It received its name due to the fact that the archaeologists' camp was based here decades ago. This small and often overlooked museum is well worth the visit even if a brief one. There are artifacts from different sites within Jerash and around from all periods including a selection of mosaics from the city's Byzantine churches. The restored mosaic depicting Christian churches in Alexandria, Egypt, is particularly striking. Of special interest is the display of archaeological finds from a Hellenistic tomb (which are rare in Jordan) discovered under Jerash's northern city wall. The views from Camp Hill towards the Oval Plaza, the Sanctuary of Zeus, the South Theatre and the South Gate clustered in one panoramic shot are among the best in Jerash (see review image). From here, you can go down the modern steps to the Macellum (Agora) across the Cardo.

Amazing open space museum. The remains of amphitheater, hippodrome, central square and the Cardo street are well preserved and monumental. They make an excellent backdrop for your holiday photos. The area is big but all the trails are well marked and it is hard to lose sense of direction.Take a bottle of water with you because there are no shops and restaurants once you leave Visitor Center. You can find shady places but most areas get direct sunlight all day so wear a hat and put on suncream. Jerash and Pompey are the only places where you can see the original urban planing of the ancient Rome so don't miss an opportunity to visit.

Enjoyed the trip so far, however one of the workers there was so rude to me just because I stepped on the carpet there(a.k.a I'm Jordanian) (a lot of people stepped on it so it was pretty dusty) he started to say that I was making the carpet dirty so I should go. I'm not trying to seem dramatic but just because I'm a local who wants to visit a place with my friends doesn't give you the right to be rude to locals but act differently in front of foreigners.

Some of the best ruins I have seen! No oxymoron intended there! :) And the size of the the city is unparalleled in the size of the temple, marketplace, theatre and arena! The only thing missing is the gymnasium.

The most elegant and best preserved ancient Roman city. It's not a surprise that Adrian, the Roman emperor spent here one winter. People are so kind. I am happy that the Jordan Kingdom is taking so much care if the site. The visitor center is wonderful and modern. I visited the archeological site three times and still not enough.
