Have travelled almost all over Assam, and I can conclude that Sivasagar is one of the most beautiful places here. Taking a walk beside the Boroukhuri in the morning is the best moment I had. Love from Tinsukia ❤️

SIVASAGAR Going back to the Ahom tradition, this social town is loaded with memorable vacation destinations from fortresses with underground design to various sanctuaries. Sibsagar is a state of Assam that gives different vacation spots identified with compositional wonders, history and culture. Probably the most well known places here incorporate a water tank called Bhorpukhuri alongside Joysagar, a man-made lake, Ahom Museum, Rudrasagar tank and sanctuaries, Gaurisagar tank and sanctuaries. One can likewise visit the Kareng Ghar and the Rang Ghar. Attractions: Kamalabri Satra, Auniati Satra, Dakhinpat Satra, and Samaguri Satra. Nearby Places: Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, Nimati Ghat, Dhekiakhowa Bor Namghar, etc. Best Time to visit: The long periods of September to March are perfect for arranging occasions at Majuli. How to Reach: By Air: There is no air terminal in Sibsagar itself yet, the closest air terminal to the spot is the Jorhat Airport which is situated a ways off of around 67 km from the city. The air terminal is all around manufactured and associated with many significant urban areas of India like Banglore, Mumba and Delhi. From the air terminal, you can without much of a stretch recruit a taxi to reach Sibsagar inside two hours. By Rail: There is a railroad station in Sibsagar called Sibsagar Town Railway Station which is firmly situated a good ways off of 2 km. It is all around associated with close by urban areas like Guwahati through standard trains. From the station, you can undoubtedly walk or recruit a taxi to arrive at the city inside ten minutes. By Road: Sibsagar is promptly accessible by means of a decent system of street transport. There are customary transport benefits that work among Sibsagar and close by urban communities like Guwahati. Be that as it may, transport network from certain towns is rare. On the other hand, numerous taxi administrations utilize which associates the spot to neighboring urban communities.

Sivasagar (Sibsagar) : Sivasagar, formerly known as Rangpur, was the capital of the Ahom Kingdom from 1699 to 1788. The Ahoms ruled Assam for six centuries, until their kingdom fell to the Burmese in 1819 and their ruling class was all but wiped out. The province was liberated by the British in 1825 but, owing to the state of anarchy which prevailed, it was completely annexed in 1826. Sivasagar is well known for its Ahom palaces and monuments. It is said that the original name of Sivasagar was - 'Kalansupar' after the name of 'Kalansu Gohain' who resided in a village originally existed in the place where currently the Sivasagar tank is located. This town's main feature is the water body from which it takes its name. This is a 257-acre (1.04 km2) tank, also known as the Borpukhuri, which is at a higher elevation than the rest of the town, with three temples on its banks. Of these temples, the most prominent is the Sivadol, standing tall at 104 feet (32 m), drawing large crowds on Shiv Ratri. The other temples are the Vishnudol and Devidol. The Raj Kareng or royal palace and Talatal Ghar in Sivasagar complex standing magnificently near Joysagar tank bears the unfurled historical extravaganza unanimously. To its south stands the Fakua-Doul with eight symbols or octagonal in shape according to Taoist cosmology built by king Rudra Singha in 1703-04 A.D. for religious purpose, while the Ranghar known to be the first sports pavilion in Asia and built in its present shape by king Pramatta Singha in 1746 A.D., still proudly stands on the west. Out of the five capital towns of the Ahom rule, as many as four, Charaideo, Saragua, Gargaon and Rangpur, were within Sivasagar district leaving only Jorhat the last one in the adjacent district by the same name.

The city gets its name from the big lake, Sivasagar, situated in the heart of the city. The lake was commissioned by the Ahom king Siva Singha. It lies about 360 kilometres (224 mi) northeast of Guwahati. This city is surrounded by the Dehing rainforest, where the Dihing (Brahmaputra) and Lohit rivers meet.

It is known as the historic town of Assam. It is well known for its Ahom palaces and monuments. Sivasagar today is also an important centre for the tea and oil industries. This town's main feature is the water body from which it takes its name. This is a 257-acre (1.04 km2) tank, also known as the Borpukhuri, which is at a higher elevation than the rest of the town, with three temples ("Dol"s in Assamese) on its banks. Of these temples, the most prominent is the Sivadol, standing tall at 104 feet (32 m), drawing large crowds on Shiv Ratri. The other temples are the Vishnudol and Devidol. The temples were built by Kuwori Ambika, wife of Swargadeo Siba Singha, in 1734. It is best place to explore the ancient temples and places. Please visit here with Ur family, friends.

An 18th century Shiva Temple (almost 100 ft) near the Shiv Sagar lake made up of bricks and stones. The outer walls are beautifully carved with gods and demons. The temple and the city are an eye treat to watch during the Shivaratri and Dussera festival.

Sivasagar, also known as Sibsagar, is a historic town located in the state of Assam, India. It is situated in the northeastern part of the country and holds great significance as a cultural and historical center. Sivasagar served as the capital of the Ahom Kingdom, which ruled over the region for several centuries. One of the most prominent attractions in Sivasagar is the Sivasagar Sivadol, a group of three magnificent temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Built in the 18th century by the Ahom kings, these temples showcase exquisite architecture and intricate designs. The tallest of the three temples, known as the Shivadol, stands at a height of 104 feet and is one of the tallest Shiva temples in India. The Sivasagar Sivadol is a revered pilgrimage site and attracts devotees from far and wide. Another iconic structure in Sivasagar is the Rang Ghar, a royal pavilion that dates back to the Ahom dynasty. It is believed to be one of the oldest surviving amphitheaters in Asia. The Rang Ghar served as a venue for various cultural and sporting events during the Ahom rule. Its unique architecture, resembling an inverted boat, is a testimony to the rich heritage of the region. The Talatal Ghar is another architectural marvel in Sivasagar. It was originally built as a military complex and is characterized by its underground floors and secret tunnels. The Talatal Ghar served as a strategic defense structure during times of war. Exploring the underground chambers and passages of the Talatal Ghar provides visitors with a glimpse into the military tactics employed by the Ahom rulers. Sivasagar is also known for its picturesque water bodies, which add to the town's charm. The Sivasagar Tank, also called the Borpukhuri, is a man-made lake built by the Ahom kings. It is surrounded by lush greenery and serves as a recreational spot for locals and tourists alike. The Joy Dol, a small island in the middle of the tank, houses a pavilion where cultural performances are often held. The Ahom Museum in Sivasagar is a treasure trove of artifacts and relics that offer insights into the rich history of the Ahom dynasty. The museum houses a vast collection of archaeological finds, including ancient manuscripts, weapons, and royal artifacts. It provides visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the glorious past of the region. Apart from its historical and cultural significance, Sivasagar is also known for its vibrant festivals. The Me-Dam-Me-Phi is a festival celebrated by the Ahom community to pay homage to their ancestors. The festival involves rituals, prayers, and cultural performances that showcase the traditions and customs of the Ahom people. The Ali-Ai-Ligang festival, dedicated to agriculture, is another important celebration in Sivasagar. It marks the beginning of the farming season and is characterized by folk dances, music, and feasts. In conclusion, Sivasagar is a town steeped in history, culture, and architectural grandeur. Its temples, palaces, and museums bear testimony to the glorious past of the Ahom dynasty. The town's picturesque water bodies and vibrant festivals add to its allure. Sivasagar is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and those seeking to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Assam.

This place which is under Sivasagar district, has a strong historical background (Assam's Ahom Dynasty, A forgotten history: not much is known about them outside Assam, They ruled for almost 600 years). Sivasagar was known as Rangpur used to be the capital of the Ahom Kingdom in the time range 1699 to 1788. The ruling class and was wiped out by Burmese in 1819, and later by British. However, one can still feel the history on the bricks. There are two temples nearby, Siva Dol and Devi Dol. Do not forget to visit Talatal Ghar, Rang Ghar and Kareng Ghar. Kareng Ghar is a representation of the grandest examples of Ahom Architecture. We felt fully immersed in historic time.
