Rajmao Pukhuri is located at Old Circuit House Road, just near the Planetarium.. It is a historical pond built during the Ahom Era.. Later on it got some beautification.. On an average the pond will be 1km long in it's radius.. It is a very nice place to spend time over here, people use to take morning nd evening walk in this place with all the fresh air and natural environment.. On my visit, I found many people busy with different things, at 1st I saw some boys doing work-out , than I saw a group of lady laughing and giggling - might be they are waiting for their childrens school to get over, than I got two other boys busy with their yoga activities.. In a sense, the people of Jorhat does like the place nd enjoy it by any mean they can.. I saw four steps , on all the four side of the pond.. The gathering always remains full as per the local people, no matter it's day time of the evening time.. Good place to visit.. RB...

Just like the "Digholipukhuri" in the busy "Guwahati", there is one pukhuri here in Jorhat also..This is the magnificient "Rajmao Pukhuri"..No one in this busy town stays silent but Rajmao Pukhuri dwells in peace keeping herself quiet her whole life..She ofter makes some amazing works..She offers a romantic moment, romantic sorrounding and thus create a romantic environment..One can find an immense of peace here in the bank of this "Pond"..Rajmao Pukhuri always calls the lovers to sit beside her so as she can also hear the heart pleasuring conversations between the lovers😍..I also spend my free times here sitting with Rajmao Pukhuri creating an immense of internal peace in my mind and manufacturing some romantic thoughts..

A place so peaceful where you can go and spend some quality time with yourself or hang out with your loved ones or else walk around the pond with your friends. One of the best thing is to sit quietly, close your eyes and relax, take a deep breath and you will feel relaxed . On one fine day, I along with my few friends went to this beautiful location where a person was playing a guitar and singing this romantic song "tumar ukhahote"by Neel Akash. The atmosphere was so vibrant and lively. The song transmitted deeply into our hearts. It made our day. Do visit this place, people!!

The most horrible terrible and dirtiest place ever I have seen in my entire life..worst place to visit.. naturally it's good..but there's no discipline,no well behaviour of people,no management and full of third class mentality people where they won't allow you to take a breath According to your own wish..

This historic pond has been converted into a park. There are benches to sit and fitness equipments for fitness enthusiasts. But the park is in a pathetic condition due to lack of maintenance.

Rajmao Pukhuri is a manmade lake or historical tank of Jorhat, dug by Numali Rajmao, mother of last king Chandrakanta Singha of Ahom Dynasty In 1818 and led it to Lord Vishnu. This is why this pond was also called Vishnu Sagar. Since the pond was dug by Rajmao, it is also known as Rajmao Pukhuri. Rajmao Pukhuri has a great historical background during the Ahom Kingdom, which can be called the Hearth of Jorhat town. On my last visit, I saw some people used to take morning walks there, some were doing yoga etc. No doubt, the place has eternal peace and beauty but I think the management is too poor. The bank of the pond is not cleaned, some posts are broken. The management, municipal board of Jorhat and the local people should focus on this point. Because, Rajmao Pukhuri of Jorhat, is a fantastic spot to learn about local history and work off some calories between our culinary adventures.

This big and beautiful pond was dug by the order of the queen mother of the Ahom king Chadrakanta Sinha for the benefit of the citizens of Jorhat, the last capital of six hundred years of Ahom rule in Assam. It reminds the people the glory of Ahom dynasty. Its maintanance is not satisfactory.

This place has a history and has been there from the times of the Ahom Kingdom. It is on the Old Circuit House Road. Another way to reach this is through the lane leading to the Jorhat Tennis Club, which has a history of it's own as well. The Tennis Club is more than 💯 years old. I have added photos of both the access points, one from this Tennis Club lane and the other from the Old Circuit House Road. In fact, the Tennis Club lane is very beautiful with palm trees lining both sides, as you will see in the photographs. This is a pretty decent sized pond. It also acts as a water source for folks nearby-I noticed a few taking water in a mini-tanker-rickshaw(There is a photograph of that as well) It is a peaceful spot for relaxation. You can see lots of folks taking their Morning or Evening Walks here. There is a walking track all around the Rajmao Pukhuri(Pukhuri means Pond). There are multiple covered areas on platforms where people can be seen doing exercises, yoga, etc. There is also an open air gym with some equipment and there are people regularly using that as well. In its initial days, it must have looked very beautiful. Right now, it is in need of repair. One end of the walking track has caved into the water. This need to be repaired fast. The track is clean otherwise. The surrounding wall and grill needs a fresh coat of paint. The good thing is that this area has lots of trees and plants. It is a nice place to go and talk a walk or just sit on one of the designated places and relax.
