Wow! I feel so lucky that of all the accommodations and places to stay in Puerto Escondido that I happened to pick Casa Daikiri! I met such a beautiful array of people here from so many different places - Canada, Argentina, France, Austria, etc. And Craig, the owner, was one of the most kindhearted people I’ve met in my life - happy to show me around the town a little, offer recommendations for places to eat/things to do, and he just created a very welcoming environment for great conversation with all the guests! As for the nuts and bolts, the pool was a godsend - a really nice, well-kept pool. Bigger than it looks and great for ducking away from the sun on the particularly hot and sunny days. The single bedroom was super clean and had everything I needed - a nice kitchen, fridge, big shower, AC, and was just a really pretty room and big too! The communal spaces are really interestingly spaced out and hopping from spot to spot to lounge around, talk to people, or lie around in the different hammocks was quite nice! Lastly, Casa Daikiri is tucked very nicely right off the main strip of bars/restaurants and hostels, so there’s no excess noise and you really feel like you’ve got your own exclusive little home in the middle of Zicatela! Thanks again Craig and all the friends I made at Casa Daikiri!

We had a really poor experience at casa Daikiri and don‘t get the good reviews. Maybe the management has changed over the last months. The place is pretty run down. The only thing that is cleaned in the rooms are the beds. The rest is disgusting. Hair in the shower, dust on the curtains, ceiling, the kitchen’s equipment is dirty. The fridge keeps you awake at night making sounds like in a horror b movie… Best of all the staff has quote „better things to do then sit in the reception all day“. On my question why no one would pick up their provided phone number the answer was „I didn’t hear the phone“. It took us four attempts to return our scooter and finally get the deposit back.

Absolutely loved my stay here for over a week. The private rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The pool is stunning and the shade a nice reprieve from the Puerto Escondido heat. Jose is an incredible manager and I got to enjoy some of the amazing beaches and tours on offer. The dolphin tour is a must!!! Also if you have time you should definitely do a mezcal tour. Everything can be arranged by the people at the front desk. I will be back Casa Daikiri!!! Gracias!

I stayed here for a week and had a fantastic stay! Great management (Aussie owner which made me feel at home) can easily speak Spanish too 🤗 clean rooms and pool. Close to everything in zica. The surf is only a 10 min walk. I could easily stay here for longer! Gracias amigos!

I could not have found a better hostel to stay in. It felt like home right off the bat. Craig Carrie and Jose made me feel very welcome. The raised pool is a good design because you are able to sit on it and it is very inviting for other guest to sit and get to know each other. Made many good friends and we all planned dinners together and went out as groups to the clubs. Craig took his time out for me to show me around on scooters. So much fun! I never wanted to leave. Location is excellent close to the beach close to the restaurants and clubs. Craig you will always be my friend. I’ll never forget all that you have done for me. I owe you some beer when I come back. Love you brother!

As soon as I arrived it felt like home away from home. Craig and Carrie are so welcoming and nice. Craig took time out of his day to go on a scooter adventure and showed me his favourite places. He took us on hikes and to view points I would never have travelled alone. Amazing human being and always will be my friend. The pool area made it very welcoming for guests to stick around and get to know each other. We’d had dinner parties with the whole group. Everybody chipped in. José Craig and Carrie I’ll definitely mess. The place is very clean With a great layout and a good location for easy access to the beach and clubs and restaurants. Talking to the other guests that have stayed in different hostels said this was the best place in town. When I come back I will not even considering anywhere else. fukn A+

Wow! What an experience! It was more than a hostel, it was home. We rented a private suite for 5 weeks and it was perfect. The location, the pool, the king size bed, the rooftop terraces, the people, the laundry service they provide! I couldn't have asked or picked a better place than Casa Daikiri. Carrie and Jose were amazing and helped out in so many ways with taxi rides, suggestions, excursions, whatever you need. It was truly sad to leave but will definitely be returning.

We had a great time in Escondido - this hostel is really well situated and as others have said about 3 mins walk to the beach. We had mixed feelings on our suite room. Pros - we really enjoyed the pool area and thought the communal areas were really well designed; the bed was good and the room was well thought out; hot water was great in the shower; AC worked well. Cons - as others have mentioned before me the room felt a bit dirty, especially the floor and kitchen however the bed was clean; the fridge in particular has not been cleaned in a long time; toilet roll provided was pretty minimal. Overall we enjoyed our stay of 3 days, we would come back here but would say that if you're staying for longer these might become issues for you.

I had such a nice stay here! Got it recommended by a friend, and didn’t regret it! Really nice room, with aircon, clean beds and lots of space! The kitchen area where people could meet each other worked well! Really nice staff! Ended up going back to this hostel, and it felt a bit like home! Can definitely recommend it!

Really great place stay. Secure. Well kept. Friendly staff. Amazing pool. Internet is the most decent I found. They kept me around for 2 months. Never found better. A/C is not extra turn it on like in some places around Zicatela and all they ask is for you turn it off when you leave the room

Really nice and small hostel, I only stayed 2 nights and I wish I could stay longer. The location is perfect, to Zicatela beach it’s a small walk around 10 minutes and to La Punta you can take a taxi for 70 pesos. We stayed in the 4 Bed dorm and we can’t say something was in bad condition. All in all it was a perfect stay!!

Love this place! Clare and Jose are amazing hosts. If you’re traveling solo this is a the perfect place to stay since you get to meet wonderful people. The beds are comfortable and the place is very quiet and calm but close enough to the clubs and restaurants. The pool is very nice too. Will be back 🥰

The hostel was really nice. We totally enjoyed our one week stay. The pool was awesome and the service good (cheers to Jose). Unfortunately there was a construction site next to our suite so it was very loud... Starting at 8:30 am. But that wasn't the fault of the hostel. We enjoyed our time alot. Thanks guys!!

I have written Reviews for other pages before. This time we booked directly and since this was the worst hostel experience I had I would like to warn you with my first google reference. Short: DONT STAY HERE. I am referring to the blue so called „Studio“ for about 50 bucks a night. - Apartment is not as mentioned 60m2, maybe 20m2 - The bedroom is not separate. Everything is actually in one room. - Private kitchen cannot be used because: 1) the fridge doesn’t close and is moldy, 2) gas leaks when using the stove so the whole room smells like gas 3) all kitchen utilities and dishes were dirty. - be aware the pictures you find on booking or their page are years old when everything was new - Room doesnt have to be new but clean is standart. This is not the case: bubblegum becomes one with the floor, curtains look like they have never been washed, this dust cover is everywhere (curtains, bedframe, ventilator) - Cockroaches. I know they are common but still I have been to many places close by the beach without any but saw a few big ones in the room. - AC cannot be used because it’s leaking heavily (therefore the bed was moved away from the bed lamps and is now pointing into another direction) - Be aware you are on the ground floor and the light in the fotos comes from the big windows right next to the common areas/pool. So you are being constantly exposed or you close them and sit in the dark during the day. - There is no „private“ terrace or something similar. You have a hamock in front of your room right within the common area and next to the pool. - Music is playing all day until late night. - There is no view from your room. From the roof you can spot the ocean. Furthermore, the management tries to make money and doesn’t really care. They were chilling in the pool drinking beer. On their website they mentioned: „…complete satisfaction is our goal here“ and „pleasure to serve you and every guest is a valued guest“ - this is a lie. They do not care about the costumer if they dont agree with their „vibe“. We asked about two hours after check in how we can handle the major issues leading to an unsatisfying feeling. They saw the message but didn’t respond until the next morning, then sent an assistant to discuss the issues (even though I asked to talk to the management directly). End of story, we lost our money. The cancelation policy says 48h (not mentioned in the reservation, not on their homepage, not during check-in). However, even though this was not a standard cancellation rather than a cancellation based on false information and major issues (mold etc.). I have been to many hostels around the world and a basic rule for hostels is that is treated with respect. This does not apply here. Stay somewhere else. There will probably be an answer to this review something like "oh we are sorry, there was a misunderstanding and nobody cleaned your room“. Online, everything seem nice but in reality it just sucks (Fun fact: Clare who works there did a customer review about her "week"). Dan‘s next door is not just cleaner and more comfortable, their service is friendly and unique. Highly recommended.

Dirty, no communication, not welcoming: Directly changed the room when we arrived as it was humid, smelly and dirty. The only person working there gave us another room and directly left us without asking if it’s fine etc. We couldn’t find her anymore and also through the provided what’s app number no one was answering (until today no answer). Second room was obviously as well really dirty (fridge, table, bedsheets etc.) and uncomfortable beds so we took the decision to leave without staying there. Until now no answer to all our messages asking for support. Wouldn’t recommend at all!
