This
eco-tour
of
the
mangrove
marsh
is
not
to
be
missed,
especially
if
you
plan
to
visit
or
you
find
yourself
in
Oaxaca,
Mexico.
While
you
can
book
a
tour
out
of
Huatulco,
we
found
our
way
by
car
from
Zipolite
to
the
Ventanilla
Lagarto
Real
Sociedad
Coopperativa
-
just
north
of
Mazunte.
Commonly
referred
to,
by
gringos
from
the
north,
as
the
Crocodile
Tour,
the
tour
we
chose
was
offered
by
the
“Largareto
Real”,
not
because
it
happened
to
be
less
expensive
(about
the
cost
of
a
good
Margarita
),
but
because
it
offered
a
guided
tour
of
the
area
from
a
preservation-first-and-foremost
philosophy.
There
are
no
penned
or
caged
animals
on
this
select
tour.
This
local
organization
is
also
nursing
and
planting
tens
of
thousands
of
mangrove
seedlings
each
year
in
the
areas
reserve,
with
the
long-term
goal
of
restoring
this
amazing
eco-culture
to
it’s
pre
1997
hurricane,
vitality.
The
incredible
bio-diversity
of
the
area,
is
highlighted
over
the
one
and
a
half
hour
boat
tour
of
one
the
country’s
most
fascinating
ecological
environs.
Hectares
of
mangrove
forest
are
home
to
countless
species
of
both
flora
and
fauna.
From
the
exotic
and
colourful
flowers
-
one
of
which
changes
colour
three
times
over
the
course
of
the
day,
to
the
dozens
of
species
of
exotic
birds
as
well
as
iguana,
huge
turtles
and
of
course
crocodiles.
Our
guide,
Luis,
was
impressively
knowledgeable
and
was
able
to
answer
everyone
of
our
groups
endless
questions
-
in
English.
He,
and
this
tour
are
highly
recommended.
Look
to
the
guys
in
the
red
shirts,
for
a
guided
tour
that
scores
full
stars
for
value
and
for
an
experience
not
to
be
missed.
