It's one of those places that makes you love Egypt and the culture all the more. I had the chance to go at night and the place was so magical. The entire structure is well lit showcasing all the different sections of the temples. And right across the entrance lies the famous 3 kilometres road of the sphinx.

We enjoyed visiting this amazing archaeological site. It was very interesting and educational. It helps very much to have a local guide who can help to explain the history of the site, its excavation, and all of the facts and figures surrounding the writings and statues. We visited the site near sundown, and stayed a little longer to get photos after the stone structures were lighted. I would highly recommend doing that, if you can. Plan on spending about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to see the entire place.

One of the most beautiful ancient temple sites I’ve ever visited. It’s truly breathtaking, I could spend all day here, I’ve been twice now and it never gets old. The ruins are very well preserved and taken care of, it got lots to explore. It’s definitely worth going with a tour guide, I would definitely recommend checking out this temple, you will certainly enjoy your time here.

Another absolutely incredible temple, after Karnak, that houses remnants of 3000-4000 year long history! You will see an Islamic mosque that's now become part of it, you will see (the only) portrait of Alexander the Great as well as many Roman themed structures and paintings built and painted over the original pieces of art. It's hard to fathom that the entire temple was once buried under the sand and there were towns and villages built over it!

Fascinating place if you're into Egyptian history. It's a great place to understand ancient architecture and traces of Ramesses the Great can be found in at the entrance. Possibly the most striking is the avenue of Sphinxes connecting this to the Karnak temple. Great place to spend about an hour or may be more. Good if you have a guide. Don't pay the guards there, they will pester your to take your pick and then ask for a tip. It's like that everywhere you going Egypt as a tourist.

Luxor at night is the most magical and majestic way to see it. Came for a visit in October 2021. Our hotel was right down the road, close enough for us,and our guides to allow us to walk to enjoy the sunset and late afternoon air. Luxor is a bit cleaner than Cairo as far as pollution and garbage around the city.

Great temple, cool to see the sphinx alley, as well as Christian and Islamic additions to the original temple. I'd recommend avoiding the night when it's lit up - crowds are insane and I think the sun illuminates the site better anyway

It is so amazing that these ruins are here after so long. This is somewhere I have wanted to take my daughter for years and we finally got to do it in 2021. I am so glad we managed to do all the sights around Luxor. This really was a once in a lifetime trip. The temple itself is in good condition considering the age and we really enjoyed walking round the ruins learning about its history. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. Also hotels and trips in Luxor are really good value at the moment so its an ideal time to go.

Luxor Temple, or معبد الاقصر, is a breathtaking historical marvel that left me in awe during my recent visit. This ancient Egyptian treasure, nestled in the heart of Luxor, offers a captivating journey through time and culture. The first thing that struck me was the sheer grandeur of the temple. The towering entrance pylon adorned with colossal statues of pharaohs is a magnificent sight to behold. As I walked through the temple's immense courtyard, the rows of colossal columns and intricate hieroglyphs revealed the incredible craftsmanship and dedication of the ancient builders. One of the most memorable moments was witnessing the play of sunlight on the temple's structures during sunset. The way the golden hues bathed the temple's sandstone walls created an enchanting ambiance that felt almost mystical. Inside Luxor Temple, I marveled at the well-preserved sanctuaries and chambers dedicated to various gods and pharaohs. The precision and artistry of the carvings and reliefs left me with a deep appreciation for the spiritual and historical significance of this place. I also had the opportunity to explore Luxor Temple at night when it's beautifully illuminated, casting an ethereal glow on the ancient stones. It's a completely different experience that adds a touch of magic to an already extraordinary site. Moreover, the knowledgeable guides on-site provided valuable insights into the temple's history, making the visit even more enriching. Their passion for Egyptology was evident and added depth to the experience. In conclusion, Luxor Temple is an absolute must-visit for anyone interested in ancient history, culture, and architecture. Its sheer magnificence and historical significance make it an unforgettable destination that transports you to the time of pharaohs and gods. Don't miss the opportunity to explore this extraordinary treasure in Luxor; it's a journey through Egypt's rich past that you'll cherish forever.

We had a great experience visiting Luxor Temple. The craftsmanship is truly fantastic, with a wealth of fascinating details to explore. Be sure to allocate enough time to fully absorb everything the temple has to offer. The site provides a captivating journey into history, showcasing impressive architectural and artistic achievements. Every corner seems to tell a story, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. However, it's worth noting that during my visit, the temple and its surroundings appeared to be a bit dusty. While this didn't significantly detract from the overall experience, it's something to be aware of.

This was clearly one of the most impressive historical places that I visited during our Egypt trip. The entry ticket allows access to 3 of the tombs excluding King Tut‘s, Ramses IV & V and Seti I. The tombs were remarkably well preserved and our guides explanation made the past come alive. Unfortunately guides aren’t allowed to provide explanation inside the tomb in order to control numbers and humidity. A must visit for history buffs.

This is a great temple. Remember not to ride the horses outside, they are clearly abused and starving. Inside the temple there is plenty to see and walk along the avenue of sphinxes. One guy tried grabbing my arm. That is not acceptable, the Egyptian government really needs to do something about harassment at the tourist sites.

Amazing, the best temple, but like all places the Egyptians are the worst, keep asking money every step you made, follow you arround, u must pay the restrooms, like if was free the place. the guards too want to take you photos and the ask for money, man i leave with the worst experience in egypt of all my trips arround the world.

The temple is the only one that stays past the sunset, and that is why it was very crowded, all of the tourists go there after 5. It is very nice and very well preserved. They sell papyrus paper at the souvenirs shop. And there is access to the sphinx road. I recommend going but do it earlier so it isn’t that crowded.

It is something you must see with your own eyes! This is the best from the ancient Egyptian. We were lucky with our guide explaining everything with patience and give us plenty of time to walk around and explore. Totally recommended!

I find the karak temple more impressive and it is so pretty much the same cost. I went before sunset to walk around which was very nice cause it’s not busy. Then sat and enjoyed sunset off to the side where it’s less busy but you see all the tour busses come. Then at night it is beautiful too to see lit up. Well worth the visit.

Wow its a beauty. This temple complex built around 3400 years ago( its crazy, I know) on the east bank of Nile river should be on your top 5 things to do in Egypt. Constructed over hundreds of years by Amenhotep III, Ramses II (the most prolific builder maybe), Tutankhamun (the boy king), and others in then Thebes, Luxor Temple is dedicated to God Amun. Ruins also include colossal Great Colonnade Hall, almost 61 meters long, with 28 twenty-one-foot-high columns. Its quite interesting to think that the same place held sacred values to multiple religions. Over the Egyptian ruins covered in sand, churches were made and then mosques at the very same place. It cant be a coincidence that everyone got attracted to the same place to worship their Gods. Makes you think, right.

If only you could go there in peace it would be so much enjoyable. Let me clarify that. You can’t go anywhere near this place without getting harassed from everyone. It really is not enjoyable. Even the workers are hustling you for tips. It NEVER ends.

We were planning on just visiting the newly restored Sphinxes Road. But the entrance ticket is the Luxor Temple ticket. Visiting in the evening is possibly the best time. Everything is illuminated and the temple looks it's best. Such a beautiful site, well worth a visit. Due to it's size it never seems too crowded. A memorable evening. A must when in Luxor.

Yet another impressive temple right in the heart of Luxor city. Not as big and astonishing as the Kernek temple which is 3 km away, but still, not to be missed. We visited it late in the evening and the experience was very much different, so I would definitely recommend it.

We visited while the construction was ongoing for the November 25th ceremony so the Ram Avenue was blocked off and the area was busy with construction staff. The temple was incredible nonetheless. The massive statues of kings are just brilliant! Although of all the templates I visited in Luxor this was my least favourite.

I got to experience this ethereal temple closing in on an evening, where the atmosphere was magnified even more than it is in the daylight hours. How can you explain being in the presense of an exquisite temple thousands of years old, in such amazing condition? I'm sorry my friends- unless you're there it's inexplicable. I couldnt have fathomed it myself until a few days ago. There were quite a lot of people but not so much that you couldn't move freely, and for a small 'Bagsheesh' a local will set you up with the optimal spots for picture taking that others may not have considered. The best pics are on my husbands camera but I'll still upload a couple here.

It is amazing how well preserved this temple is. The way it is lit up in the evening is spectacular. I went late in the day and though there were quite a few people there it wasn't over crowded. I highly recommend!

Beautiful, very busy temple in the middle of Luxor. Large statues depicting the Pharaohs can be seen. Open in the evenings making it a good spot to watch the sunset.

Lovely one specially by night. You can see the sphinx passage close to the entrance. Special dinners are done by night. Lovely place. I like this temple very much. Please keep it clean and nice. Try to provide some shades all around. Also you make the electric cars with extra money to go through out the whole temple. All the best.

Luxor Temple is an absolute gem. Walking through its ancient halls, you can't help but be struck by the sheer majesty of the place. The colossal statues and intricate carvings tell a vivid story of a bygone era. It's not just a temple; it's a profound encounter with the past. The serene atmosphere and impressive architecture make it a must-visit for anyone fascinated by history and the marvels of human ingenuity.

Amazing amazing amazing… it’s not just the pyramids that Egypt is.... it’s the awe inspiring size of the temples and hieroglyphs that tell umpteen stories of the Gods and Kings… And Luxor temple is a perfect example of the amazing history and grandeur that Egypt has!!! Just being in the centre of history that the temple of Luxor exudes, takes one to amazing heights.. Must see for history buffs…❣️

Beautiful ruins and very accessible without actually entering the site. Avenue of Sphinxes was amazing, couldn't see to the end (I think it leads to Karnak temple).

This place and Karnak temple are definitely a must visit whenever you come to Luxor. Not just to see big things. It’s to appreciate the sheer scale of capability of the ancient Egyptians and see what architectural wonders they were capable of.

Fabulous antiquity place - go and see it sunset time or just before. Then you see it in the daylight and with the lights on afterwards! Fantastic 😁👍

It is an amazing and astonishing place, full of a mistical ancient energy. I recommend you go from 5 to 7 pm, then you will be able to take pictures before, during and after sunset. It will be busy, but if you are pacient enough and don't go with a crowded group tour, you can wait until 830 pm, when everyone has left, and have the illuminated temple all for yourself! Make sure to bring lots of water. There are toilets, 10 LE person and you can get food an beverages inside. Just don't expect it to be cheap! It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Stunning temple in the middle of Luxor Amazing to see so many religions sharing the same space over the centuries. Big enough to not feel ridiculously busy with crowds. A guide helps but with research you could make sense of it yourself. The avenue of sphinxes is awe-inspiring. A must do when you are visiting Luxor

It was absolutely amazing to stand in an area with centuries and centuries of history. To learn about the ways of those who rule in BC era's and to see the artistry and masonry of those times without modern machines was inspiring. Just to step into a moment of admiration of talent, dedication, and man's ability to create, Luxor Temple is worth a visit. It's hot out there, even in October. Wear comfortable shoes, loose clothing, and pack your patience because there are other tourists from around the world at every turn. Take a moment to close your eyes and listen to the sounds of the many languages and dialects around you.

A very important place for Egyptian history. This temple has presence of Ancient Egyptian, Romans, Alexander & Islamic rulers. A must visit place and recommended to visit with a guide.

  • 5/5 John 5 months ago on Google
Obviously, an amazing temple. But I wouldn't follow people's advice to visit in the evening especially not for sunset. This is when the tour buses arrive and the place is really crowded (and full of idiots touching everything). Visit in the heat of the afternoon if you like to have places to yourself.

My experience at Luxor Temple was truly awe-inspiring! Visiting during the off-season turned out to be a fantastic decision, as the temple was not crowded at all. This allowed me to fully immerse myself in the magnificent atmosphere and capture breathtaking moments through my camera lens. I was able to snap incredible pictures and record stunning videos that will serve as cherished memories of this remarkable visit. I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the security check at Luxor Temple. It was quick and hassle-free, ensuring a smooth entry into the site. Obtaining the visiting ticket was a breeze, thanks to the user-friendly process in place. The staff members were warm and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. Most importantly, the atmosphere within the temple was absolutely captivating, exuding a mesmerizing aura that left me in awe throughout my visit.

The modern city of Luxor surrounds the Luxor Temple. Luxor is known as the world's largest open air museum. The temple itself is a timeless monument. Luxor was called Thebes, and was the religious capital of Egypt until Greek period. The ancient city worshipped the god Amun-Ra. After the Muslim conquest of Egypt, part of the temple was converted to Abu Haggag Mosque.

Definitely worth a visit. Is one of the few attractions that you can visit in the evening. My tip is to visit the Luxur temple in the evening the light and the setting sun provide perfect lighting conditions and a unique atmosphere. Also the temperatures are not too high. The facility is barrier-free and toilets and a café are available.

  • 5/5 Stef K. 1 year ago on Google
Magnificent monument showing the greatness of the Egyptian architecture. There is also a light show running at 18:00. The visitor needs to buy a new ticket for the night show which at the time of writing (Oct 2022) costs an extra 180 EGP. The only thing that negatively impacts the atmosphere is the not so good cleaning off the site. Nevertheless a must see historical attraction in the east bank of Nile.

Super interesting place with an unbelievable amount of thousands of years history. Egyptians, Greek, Roman, ... they all left their marks and scars on the original ancient temple stones. We went here with a guide who showed us many details and told interesting stories around it. Highly recommended to do like this, it prevents you from just walking by history without really knowing what you are looking at
