Worst hostel I have ever stayed at. The room felt like I was staying in an orphanage. I agree with the other reviews saying the hallway and bathrooms smell like piss. I understand a hostel is a place for everyone to stay, however this hostel seems to attract some rather odd travellers. There was an older woman in my room, who woke our entire room up at 2am screaming and talking absolute gibberish. The locker situation is also really weird. There are no lockers in the rooms. I wouldn’t stay here again

This place has a strange vibe. It doesn’t feel like a hostel. No one talks or socializes. Which made it super easy for me to make friends since I’m extremely social. Talked to a girl from Canada who said she is in a 6 bed dorm with 5 other people... and she has no idea where anyone is from since no one speaks to anyone else. Most of the people I met here, live in Germany and came to Cologne for work... needing a place to spend a night... so it doesn’t have a backpacker vibe. There is a nice bar, that would be perfect for partying... but it was always empty when I was here. The room formats are strange as well. It’s not bunk beds... but normal single beds. There is washer and dryer which you can use for €4. There is also a refrigerator that you have to rent a cube for €2 daily 🤨.

As a young solo female traveller, I felt very unsafe in this hostel. There was no option to book a female room, and on my second night I was placed in a room with five other men, a few of whom were older men, and no other women. I was extremely uncomfortable and felt very vulnerable, and one of them fully undressed in front of me. I asked to switch rooms, which was done easily. However, when I tried to tell the receptionist that in my many months travelling this has never happened to me, and that it’s very important to make the rooms safe for women, he was cold and dismissive. He told me that it’s not possible to make sure that the rooms have more than one woman in them. This seems absurd considering how easy it was for him to switch me to another room. I think that this hostel is just not prepared to make a small effort to make women feel safe because this is not a priority for them. If you are a solo female traveller, do not go to this hostel.

I stayed here for 2 nights. The stuff at the reception was extremely nice and looking forward to help. The hostel has an elevator which makes thing easier if you have a bag, they also have a locker room that you can only access with your card - this is great because you can leave your bags and not worry that someone mighy go through your stuff - it's also ree of charge. The bedding was clean and the rooms are spacious, it's great that they don't have bunk beds, it makes it a bit more comfortable in my opinion. The corridors and the doors to the bathrooms are really tight wich made me feel a little claustrophobic. The bathrooms were not clean but not extremely dirty -it can always be worse. I was here end of May and the temperature in the rooms was ok. The best thing about it is that it's super close to the train station and also city center

Overall: service lacking, breakfast fine, location convenient but feel dangerous at night, watch out for steep stairs Location: great location relative to most of the stuff you'll want to see. Only 5 min walk to Hbf and the Dom and transit easy to access everything (or walk, not far either way). At night the neighborhood felt a bit dangerous but not the worst. Service: the staff seem to expect you to know things without telling you. The guy who checked me in seemed annoyed when I asked questions or clarifications. Breakfast: good not great. The rolls weren't so fresh and the breakfast bar was setup for a basketball player or something - it was up on a higher bar and a bit difficult for a shorter person Room: the room itself was fine. I got a single room which was great for privacy and a decent size - very clean. However the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. It reeked of urine from the time I arrived until I left, you could smell it in the hall even after the cleaning staff cleaned it.

Great location as it is very close to Cologne Hauptbahnhoff (Main train station). In the hostel you can book a bed or private room for one-two and so on. During my visits it was clean, stuff was helpful and my experience is only positive. I would like to stay here again.

Sonst klasse, gerne wieder.

Very dirty and loud. Basic fresh breakfast. Good atmosphere but that is all. With more effort it has potential to be top hostel.

Large and extremely 'lively' hostel. Rooms/dorms don't have bunks but single beds which is great. No self catering facilities whatsoever- although there is a restaurant that does breakfast and evening meals - however it wasnt open one night we were there. The food we did have was pretty nice and although not cheap - reasonably priced. The facilities were adequate.

I do not understand how this hostel has scored above a 3.0. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone unless you absolutely cannot go elsewhere. The only advantages are that it is close to the station and they gave us free shampoo, but that's where the list of positives stops. To access your room, you walk down long dirty corridors which stink of smoke, past piled up used bedding and overflowing bins. The place has a terrifying vibe and feels like a hospital from a horror film. I can't believe how many dorms they have, considering there is no social scene at all. The toilets and showers (of which there were 2 between about 10 dorms) absolutely stank of sewage and there was tobacco left in the sink. The room was OK, not great not terrible. I didn't see any kitchens or even a kettle for the guests to use. I have stayed in many hostels around the world including the Koln Neumarkt A&O but this is my least favourite. All this would be fine if you could say, "it's cheap and you get what you pay for," but it wasn't cheap! I've had great hostel experiences for far less money. Go to an A&O instead.

Smells terrible in the hallways and in some rooms, seizure inducing flickering lights in the hallways, one of the mattresses was really disgusting [see picture] and we didn't get an apology. Staff was unimpressed and just gave us a new one as if this happened daily. The bathrooms and showers were a mess and not cleaned properly. All in all a terrible experience and I did not feel comfortable.

A decent enough hostel. The solo room was pretty bare bones, but had the necessities (bed, hanger, table and chair). The drinks were relatively cheap at the bar and the food is reasonably priced. Pros: - Good location, close to the city centre - Friendly staff Con: - Relatively expensive hostel that doesn't live up to the cost

It matches the description of hostel..a no nonsense hostel. Narrow corridors, small washrooms and ample of showers. Its really nice not to have bunker beds; so I could easily talk to other people in the room And share experiences. The showers don't have timers like many, so also could have a long shower without pressing the button multiple times. They also have restaurant and bar, which can be very crowded on Friday night. The location is the best; just near to station.

Stayed in the hostel for a weekend with 5 friends. We called to ask if we could sleep on a 6-person room and luckily that was possible. Hostel is very well located, neat and has good looking and clean sanitary facilities. Two of us forget our chargers and the hostel even sent them to us for free. Would definitely recommend a stay at Station hostel!

Best part about the hostel is location. Couple of minutes walk from the hbf. Room could be improved massively. Stayed for a couple of nights. Pillow was super uncomfortable. Bed makes a lot of noise even on small movements. Bedside lamp was not working. Overall cleanliness of common washrooms, etc. is fine.

Lack of hallway toilets, no enforcement of 2200 noise and commotion curfew; botched reservation, so charged me €80 for a three person room rather than the twin one I’d booked and communicated with them about. Decent firmness on beds, though, and decent complimentary wifi.

Superb location. Right beside the central station which is great if you are planning to travel to other cities by train. Reasonable prices for a private room, at least half the price of hotels in the same area. Very clean, comfy bed and plenty of towels when asked for. Only downfall is thin walls, but if you are a deep sleeper it is not a problem. The bar downstairs is fine, good prices and friendly staff. Food smelt lovely too!

The personal in the reception is nice, they like german straight and efficient way interaction. The location is perfect near nice Turkish restaurants, cathedral and all the things to do. Rooms are spacious and confortable. If you face the street, it may be a bit noisy. The toilets are not the best, but this may be just something in Gemany in general.

Employees were friendly, but the boss was very rude. The hostel didn't have all the rooms available that we booked. The second day they took all the stuff out of one of our rooms and put new guests in it. They didn't fix this problem at all.

The staff were super helpful. The 4 bed dorm I stayed in was very comfortable - lots of bedside cupboards and space to put your belongings, however the lockers were outside the room in the corridor and they were very small so you could not store all your luggage safely. I also found it challenging to meet people at the hostel as there was not much of a commonroomand no kitchen, just a bar.

The overall experience was good. Ok rooms and bathrooms, but lack of common areas. There is only a terrace but it's part of a bar and you aren't allowed to bring any food or drinks from outside.

Nice stay. The reception when I arrived was so friendly. We had a talk because he visited my country in the past. I liked my room. I enjoyed the hot shower after walking around the city in the cold weather. The bar downstairs is cool, which plays rock music. Great location, near the train station, near from everything.

This was one of the best hostels I stayed at during my trip, the room was bare but it didn’t matter, nice room & staff, the bathrooms were clean and they even provided a little shower gel and a towel. Little things like that were nice he reason i really liked this place, Had a good enough view of the street and surrounding and the Dom Köln was a short walk so location was very good. Highly reccomend!

I stayed in a 5 person room. It was very spacious for the price. I also liked how the lockers were outside the room so you didn't have to disturb anyone leaving early in the morning. Showers and toilets were located outside of the room as well and were fine. Bar/ restaurant was fairly expensive but reasonable quality. Atmosphere was good. A mix of people, mostly looking to meet others rather keep themselves to themselves. Located very close to the station so ideal for travellers. Also very near the cathedral.

Walking distance from the train station. The Cathedral, Cologne Christmas Markets & other attractions are on this hostel's doorstep. I shared a twin bedroom, basic as expected in a hostel. The downstairs restaurant for breakfast and dinner are good. Staff helpful. Hostel clean and restaurant cosy. Price and location very good.

Budget hostel around 5 minutes from the railway station, the Cologne Dome and 10 minutes from the Old town. The rooms are OK, reasonably clean, they also have single rooms with the private bathroom

The noisiest hostel I’ve ever been in, there were people coming in and out at 12:00, 3:00 and 4:00 in the morning yelling and banging on doors. Then there are noisy machines outside cleaning the street from 8:00am in the morning. Walls are thing and doors are not airtight so you can hear everything.

What a wonderful hostel that provides great value for money. This hostel is in a prime location; 15 minute walk from the Cathedral (Dom), resturaunts, and bars, while also being close to small kiosk stores to purchase your essientials. Rooms a clean with ample storage places for a solo backpacker with not much luggage. If/ when I return to Köln, this well definately be where I stay!

The worst hostel ever, we came back around three, they told us that our key are would work, we were careful to not put it close to our phones but anyway we couldn't get into our rooms, we called the emergency number a guy answered, he said he was sending someone but nobody came so basically we had to sleep outside, this is the worst experience I had with an hostel and I travelled a lot

It's a great hostel. To affordable prices you get a very nice room, with very big pillows on bed. The location of the hostel is absolutely terrific. With very short distance to the trainstation it is very easy to get around. The bathroom is super, breakfast is a little expensive but nice. The staff is very helpful and friendly. You can easily stay here for more days if you visit Cologne.

We booked a single room and the experience was mediocre. At the very least, it was cheap and everything was clean. The interior is quite old and dull. The mattress is very hard and pillows with blankets are very low quality. It gets hot with windows closed, but very noisy with windows open due to the main railway station nearby and Cologne's infamous rail squeal.

We stayed in a four person room with a private bathroom. The beds were what you'd expect from a hostel so no complaints there. I was positively surprised by the temperature in the hostel, I expected it to be cold during the night but the temperature was better than in my own room at home. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Hallways were a bit loud and there doesnt seem to be that much sound insulation in the rooms. Nothing too fancy, but appeared to be clean and the staff were good. Would recommend for budget friendly lodgings for your trip to cologne.

Great to have a good restaurant on site when getting in late. The food was really good and satisfying. Was a bit noisy at times due to young hormone induced backpackers flirting loudly. Bed comfortable, room adequate for two people, shower good, close railway station, and good price, staff very friendly.

Bathrooms were unclean, washer and dryer were at the end of their lives, fridge was broken. No AC but you can’t leave the window open because it’s right next to the train tracks. It would be a fine place to stay if the bathrooms were clean.

  • 2/5 Michael B. 1 year ago on Google
Pretty uncomfortable place to stay in even if it's just to sleep, especially if you're given one of the beds that are right in front of the window (which can't be closed because there's no AC or ventilation system). The location sure, it's centric, but it's not the nicest neighborhood to stay in and honestly, I'd rather stay a bit further away from the central station and be in a nicer area.

  • 5/5 TheHerdBoy 1 year ago on Google
Staff all really friendly (shoutout to Sam and Diane(sorry for the spelling mate)), they are more than happy to help with any questions you have. Very chill vibe in the bar and beer garden. Food really good, better than most of my meals in the city- even people who weren’t staying here came in just for their meals! Recommended for people travelling on a budget. Also, alcohol is really cheap here so that’s always a bonus! NOTE: If you are not prepared to potentially have some annoying or loud roommates then don’t stay here, it’s a hostel not a hotel !!

I enjoyed my stay at the Station Hostel. Made new friends. Clean bathrooms and bedsheet. Clean room. Everything maintained. No kitchen to cook something, instead you'll have to buy things from their cafe and bar, which I didn't like. Stayed in a 6-bed dorm for 1 day.

  • 3/5 Josvu22 1 year ago on Google
The room is OK but the beds were hard with very tiny mattresses. One of my friends has an allergy for feathers so we asked for a pillow without them, they had nothing and no suggestions were to get one. Breakfast was OK but a bit busy in the small kantines. Location was very good, 1 minute from train station and 15 minutes from city centre when you walk across the beautiful train bridge. Experience ruined by guy who kept puking and didn't clean sanitary afterwards.

actually quite good. Friendly staff. nice design and many seats in the common area. The sleeping rooms could be more stylish. And a kitchen for preparing one's own food would be nice.

If you're looking for good location on a budget then look no further. Spacious rooms with comfortable beds. Big number od showers on each floor so at least I did not experience lines. Nice pub downstairs. I am taking one grade off as bathrooms could be cleaner.

They ask 1€ for the deposit of the key card but if you forget asking for it when returning the card, they will not give you back the deposit (thing that should be done without asking). The location of the hostel is great. Toilets and bathrooms were OK

We booked dinner with a school group. The bartender was very pleasant and friendly. The person responsible for serving and managing the dinner however was stressed and not friendly. We helped him cleaning the tables because he looked a bit stressed. And even that he could not appreciate... I would not recommend to host such big groups for dinner if this is hard to manage. After a long day in the city you expect to be welcomed a bit more. The food on the first evening was very moderate, namely a rather small portion of pasta.

Worst stay I ever had in a hostel. Positives: staff seemed friendly and the location is ideal for exploring Köln, that's it. Negatives: rooms and bathrooms were disgusting, some toilets looked like someone peed everywhere in them. Mostly, most guests seemed to be middle-aged men getting drunk during the day. We checked in to our room finding empty beer bottles, and a drunkard guy. Another guy was getting drunk the whole afternoon in the hostel lobby. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, but especially to female travelers.

  • 1/5 Brennen 2 years ago on Google
Station Hostel for not backpackes The name is super misleading, if you are expecting to find a traveler backpacking enviroment, you will be highly dissappointed. Every other guest seems to actually live there, walls are so thin you literally hear people sneaze and walk all night, no the slightest kid of separation in between beds, so if the guy next to you decides to keep his lamp on till 2am good luck trying to sleep. They sell coffe at the reception but once you use a cup they just leave there for the next person and i even found one in the bathrom and it stayed there for days. Smoking is supposedly forbiden, though you'll find cigarrette buds everywhere and the whole building smells like cigarretes. Beedsheets are dirty and full of stains, pillows are super old and have no shape it's just pice of cotton barely put together. 1/5 would totally not recomend it and specially not for travellers, because if you are looking forward to meeting travelers from all over and the backpacking enviroment just in like every other decent hostel, believe you will 10/10 times not find it there

Very well located, 3 min walking from The Main Station. The guys on reception were not friendly, hospitality is not their best, a little smile on check-in would be nice, they could also give more information about the facilities. The room was clean and the bed were comfortable.

Clean room with enough space. (Room 313) The bathrooms in the hallway were a bit stinky but not visibly dirty. The staff was very friendly, especially the guy behind the bar. Very nice tea, and strange-but-okay music. The location is great because the center is right around the corner and of course the train station as well.
