Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I have been living in Germany for the past three years but never had such a bad experience. It was my first Cologne carnival. I was with my six other friends and we decided to spend time at 'das ding'. We all waited in the queue. The first bouncer checked our vaccination certificate. The next bouncer stopped me and my other female friend while my other friends, who weren't aware of our access denial, got in. My female friend asked the bouncer the reason for not permitting us to enter. He said he doesn't have a reason and that he will not let me enter. He told my female friend she can get in but not me. His reply perplexed me. I was the only person in my group with a dark complexion. Such discrimination shocked my female friend. I asked my female friend to get in. She reluctantly got in. I waited outside. A boy behind me with a darker skin tone was also denied access to the club. His friends were already inside the club and the poor fellow waited with me outside. A few minutes later, all my friends came out and asked the bouncer the reason for my denial to the club. He told them he won't let me in at any cost and if they want, they can enter. When my friend politely asked him about racial discrimination, he snatched her armband(entrance pass) and asked all my friends to get out. I was deeply saddened and this incident enraged my friends. I have been to many clubs before but never faced this kind of treatment. I should have checked the google reviews before visiting this place. Racial discrimination is a common norm here, it seems. I checked their 2021 Facebook carnival photos and found only one girl of darker skin tone. Given that it was a carnival day and Köln has a huge international students crowd, one can expect a more diverse crowd in the club. They consider men with darker skin tones as trouble makers it seems!! Update after owner's prompt reply dated 14/12/2021:-) Ohh, you poor man!! How desperately you are trying to save the image of your club! All your replies to the negative comments state the same. I pity you. Köln is a big city and there are great 'big-hearted' clubs which accept people irrespective of their height, body type, color, sex and ethnicity. They too are effectively handling pressure from 'scharfen Kontrollen, Kapazitätsbegrenzung, zig Besoffskis vor der Tür, dubiosen Impsnachweisen usw' (which means strict controls, capacity limitation, umpteen drunkards in front of the door, dubious proof of vaccination, etc):-)) Well, I am not crying over the incident and lodging a complaint on google reviews. As a google local guide, who encountered an untoward incident at your place, I guess I can review 'the thing'. And man, my finger hurts when I write such long comments :-) I review places only if it's too good or too bad. I reviewed your place just to ensure that people can make smarter choice. Just creating some awareness about 'the thing':-))

Personal ist freundlich und man wird am Eingang vernünftig kontrolliert. Musik ist ebenfalls gut, wenn einem Charts und Mainstream gefällt. Getränkepreise sind auch fair. Das Pfandsystem ist zwar aus wirtschaftlicher Sicht sinnvoll, stört aber, weil man sich nur für den Pfand nochmal an der Theke anstellen muss. Außerdem finde ich 12€ Eintritt für einen Studentenclub ziemlich viel, zumal die Einrichtung sehr unspektakulär ist. Da würde man sich etwas mehr Gestaltung wünschen. Trotzdem insgesamt auf jeden Fall ein Club bei dem man nichts falsch macht.

Das Ding ist der schlechteste Club in dem ich je war!! Ich war an Halloween am 31.10.23 im Ding und habe noch nie so einen schlechten Service erlebt. Wir mussten gut 3 Stunden an der Garderobe warten nur um eine Jacke abzugeben und wieder abzuholen. Insgesamt haben wir bestimmt 4 Stunden einfach nur gewartet. Außerdem haben die viel zu viele Menschen reingelassen, dadurch war der Club unangenehm voll. Ich meine damit, dass man eigentlich nur so viele Menschen reinlassen sollte für die man auch räumlich und mit Blick auf die Bedienung Kapazitäten hat. Im Ding war das garnicht der Fall. Die haben einfach so viele Menschen wie nur möglich reingelassen, um so viel Geld wie möglich zu machen. Die Folge war, dass die Mitarbeiter an der Garderobe komplett überfordert waren, man Stunden lang warten musste und zu wenig Platz fürs Tanzen da war. Unterm Strich haben dann einfach alle Gäste eine schlechte Zeit und Erfahrung und haben Geld für nichts ausgegeben. Ich finde man kann sogar schon fast von Betrug sprechen, weil die Bedingungen im Club den wartenden Gästen nicht von vornherein transparent offengelegt werden z.B. dass man 3 Stunden einfach nur auf seine Jacke warten muss. Bezüglich der Garderobe habe ich noch anzumerken, dass die deutlich zu wenig Personal hat (2 Personen), die mit dem Arbeitsaufwand überfordert und selber unglaublich gestresst sind. Außerdem können 2 Personen nicht gleichzeitig Jacken abnehmen und ausgeben, folglich konnten man seine Jacke zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt entweder immer nur abgeben oder zurückbekommen. Letztlich wollte ich noch sagen, dass die Schuld für so einen schlechten Service ganz klar bei dem Management liegt und nicht bei den Mitarbeitern, weil die Manager die Verantwortung für die Planung und Koordination des Personals tragen, während die armen Mitarbeiter die sind, die mit den unzufrieden Kunden konfrontiert werden.

Worst club ever. The staff was just plain rude and the security was incredibly agressive and impossible to reason with. They completely ruined the night.

The bouncers were extremely racist. Wouldn't reccomend at all. If there was a 0 stars option, I would have given that. Update: Your reply confirms me that you agree with it absolutely. Don't think that you'll last here long.

Basically a great club to be, but the bar staff is very short fused and the bouncers over react in peaceful situation with brutal violence. Calling this brutality the enforcement of the right of the house, is a disgrace. My friend got violently removed from the club after he didn't get served a water, waiting for 15 minutes. After being carried out from the club by three guys, one restraint him on the open street for a good minute till I could convince him to let him go. No talking, no explanation even after questioning. My recommendation, get certified bouncers with anger training and experience. The police is now taking care about this aggressive and uncalled behavior. I will boycott this club from now on and can not recommend this location.

This club is owned by and staffed by the most racist people I've ever met. The minute we stood outside, we witnessed a group being declined entry because of one of the members being black. Another man was physically abused outside with absolutely no reason given or shown. I am appaled and disgusted that a club like this is still open. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We called the police and I strongly encourage you to do so if you witness this behaviour. Zero stars if possible.

Einer meiner Lieblingsclubs in Köln! Meine Freundin und ich gehen am liebsten hier feiern, auch bei den kleinsten Problemen sind die Türsteher sehr offen und hilfsbereit. An der Kasse läuft immer alles super schnell. Wenn es voller wird muss man natürlich mit einer gewissen Wartezeit an der Bar rechnen, aber das ist ja fast überall so. Die Getränke sind einfach günstig und immer in einem guten Verhältnis gemischt. So ab 12/1 Uhr kann es auch mal richtig voll auf der Tanzfläche sein, aber wir hatten trotzdem immer viel Spaß. Die Musik hat in den letzten Wochen etwas abgenommen und entspricht nicht mehr ganz unserem Geschmack, aber es hat uns nie aufgehalten in Ding zu gehen :)

I'm a student from the region since more than a year, and I have an extremely worst experience with the club and it's staff. People are being judged and are allowed to enter, mostly according their ethnicity and looks. It was not just my experience, but I came across at least around 4-5 groups of internationals, especially from Asia, having a similar experience on the same night. This is a disgrace and this place should be ashamed of doing something like this, especially to students like me. I believed that the only things one need to enter a club, is a valid id and being stable(not very drunk or wasted). The worst part is the selection of people they let in. Shame on such a place. And for the record, this takes the whole image of this place down at the very bottom.

I wish I could give zero stars, never in my life I have met such aggressive guards. Even a hello was enough for them to start shouting

Racist club, read the reviews and they indicated racism. In the queue overheard the bouncer saying, "that guy is black hes definitely not coming in". While telling my friends we are definitely not going in he also rejected our group entering due to one of my friends being brown skinner.

Bin richtig enttäuscht, gehen sonst immer dahin (oft schon in großen Gruppen bis zu 8 Mann) Dieses Mal standen ich und meine beste Freundin vor dem Club, jeweils mit unserem Freund und unserem gemeinsamen besten Freund (ings. 5 Leute). Tja der Türsteher meinte er „fühlt“ uns nicht. Ich und meine Bestie (Mädels) hätte er ja reingelassen aber die Typen wären nicht „sein Ding“. Hatten uns seit Tagen auf den Club gefreut, und wurden letztendlich NICHT reingelassen. Nach uns kamen 3 Mädchen, die wurden natürlich reingelassen. Wer auch immer der Türsteher war, er sollte sich mal lieber einen neuen Job suchen.

Ganz nett aber das ist kein Studentenclub das ist ein normaler Club. Einfache Unterschiede: In einem Studentenclub wird geschaut ob du einen Studentenausweis hast. Hier wird jeder rein gelassen selbst wenn die Leute viel zu alt sind. Außerdem werden die Leute eigentlich nicht Sooo genau durchsucht es sind immerhin nur Studenten. Außerdem ist der Alkohol nicht so teuer bzw. Sollte er sehr billig sein hier ist der extrem teuer. Außerdem ist ein richtiger Studentenclub so Dienstags oder Mittwochs offen. Nur Donnerstags und Wochenende ist für normale Clubs.

Horrible staff. They didn’t let my boy friends inside the club. When I said something they pushed me and my girl friends aside. Paid 40euro’s for only 10 minutes inside the club. Wouldn’t recommend. Go to Centclub instead, it is on the other side of the street. Much better.

I've never been to a club with such an unfriendly security! My friend accidentally lost her ticket and we didn't get in again after paying 7€ ! Seriously people don't even go there! The bartenders need way to long to serve people and I do not recommend this club! The music is not that good and the community there is super young !

11 people seems "too much" according the security guard. Not suitable for large groups. The reaction of the club underneath my review is worthless. We where not drunk and very polite. We asked the security guard in a calm manner if we could enter with 11 people. This was not possible.

We were forcefully pushed outside while thinking for 20 seconds whether we found the entrance fee worth the visit. Absolute trash bouncers.

They asked for our ID card and then randomly rejected us. When we asked for an explanation they rudely refused to give any, we werent drunk at all so it was just random

Kleiner Studentenclub. Musik war eigentlich ausschließlich Charts, wobei der Mix nicht schlecht war. Das Publikum war in Ordnung, wobei ich schon bessere Stimmung in Clubs erlebt habe. Gegen 4 Uhr war der Club an einem Samstag schon so gut wie leer.

I like the music here, usually, we go here with my student friends to celebrate events. In my opinion, the bouncers can be more friendly, at least when someone is respectful and polite to them. 😊 I understand their job is really hard and sensitive and appreciate their effort every night, but that is just a friendly and personal opinion. :) Never took their behavior as racism (as some comments reflect that).

Great music..Great dancefloor.. Daily drink specials.. Where else can you get 2€ Malibu orange (daily) rum cola(Saturday ) , whisky cola(Friday) , vodka lemon/energy(Thursdays) .. Many themed parties with glowsticks... Birthday party platters.. A great place to find forever friends.. Even love..

No issues with security, went on a thursday that was relatively quiet compared to the weekends. Cheap drinks, people were fun and made a few local friends too ! Music played when I went were all english pop club hits ( Bruno Mars, Rihanna, David Guetta, Ed Sheeran etc) so its really friendly for non-Germans. Overall had fun but bummed that it closed earlier. Could have went until 4am :)

Bad place and you will get screwed. You have to pay 1 eur per glass as pfand, you wont see it back... When complaining, they just throw you out...

Place was cool, met some really wild people in the line and danced mostly the whole night. Cool location, music was decent, drinks are fairly priced. its mostly students obviously so... not everyone can handle their alcohol... and thats often the case. Door staff was cool, bartenders and barbacks were also nice. 3 out of 5 for me. dancefloor is the highlight

They dont even deserve a star. Very bad guards with unmannered behaviour against people. They didnt let me and my friend in without giving any reason!! Obviously its because we are not blonde??? Its terrifying to see racist people in the 21th century at the heart of the Germany. Its still hard to believe that officials dont take action against them. Big shame…

They just expelled me from the club just after I paid because a friend was smoking. Not even me, and when I tried to speak to them in English everyone said they didn't speak the language. Mah, the music anyway is really mid and it's not worth the entry price. Go to better clubs instead of this one Don't be surprised if this club has mostly 1 star review. Embarrassing The other review that I left that night was because they didn't let me and other friends in another club but they wouldn't tell why, and I found that pretty annoying. You should interrogate yourself because you can't even understand what my other review was about.

Cheap drinks, sometimes free entry and free beer from 10-12. Staff refills fast and the music is decent. Never had any problems with security like most people claim, if you have your ID and don't stand out of the crowd (drunk, bad clothing, on drugs or under 18) then you should have no problem getting in here.

Guter DJ, korrekte Leute an der Bar, leider musste der Typ im Gang irgendwas kompensieren und greift dich körperlich an und bricht dir fast den Arm, weil du dich beim Rausgehen einmal eine Sekunde umgeschaut hast. (14.01. 02:20Uhr für die Verantwortlichen). Leider außer der Dame an der Kasse keine Zeugen, sonst käme das zur Anzeige. Ich verstehe nicht, wie das von den Managern toleriert werden kann. Die Security vor der Tür waren cool wie immer. Nach knapp 30€, die ich im Club gelassen habe, ist so ein grundlos aggressives Verhalten unglaublich respektlos und nicht tolerierbar! Ich war zum Zeitpunkt die einzige Person im Gang, habe niemanden blockiert und mich lediglich einmal (mit dem Kopf) ungedreht, ein Wort von dem Typ hätte gereicht. Leider mein letzter Besuch im Ding. Eine Entschuldigung oder Rechtfertigung auf diese Rezension könnt ihr euch sparen!

Eigentlich ein guter Club. Nur sollte an Ausgabe und Annahme jeweils eine Person stehen. Die Wartezeit an der Ausgabe ist immer ziemlich lang. Auch die Preiserhöhung vom Eintritt ist bei den Getränkepreisen im Club wirklich frech. Die Musik ist eigentlich immer recht gut, aber in letzter Zeit nimmt es eher Klapsmühlenniveau an. An sich guter Club aber hat sich in den letzten Monaten doch stark verschlechtert.
