We visited it as part of the Museum Night and were super surprised. Actually, that's why I don't want to upload a photo :) Be sure to come and take a look. The explanations of the historical classification, function and architecture are also well explained. In German and English. So you can also bring international friends and show this great piece of ancient history. It is worth it!

The entrance is not easy to find as it is embedded in a residential building. After 7 years of renovation, the monument was reopened in March 2016. The opening times are also not the usual ones for a museum. If possible, you should join a guided tour, as the monument is explained wonderfully here. The tours are organized by employees of the Archaeological Zone and the meeting point is at Malzmühle 1. The Ubier Monument was the southeastern corner tower of the city's pre-colonial Roman fortifications. It was part of the fortifications of the Roman settlement Oppidum and is considered the oldest stone monument in Germany. It's worth a visit for history lovers.

I ended up here by chance. It is inconspicuous, almost hidden. Nice exhibition with very interesting information about the Roman period. Recommended.

It's a shame that the city of Cologne doesn't advertise anything. We had a private tour of Cologne

We had a great lead, Hans Rosenthal would have said: That was great. Our guide Ina Volpp did a very good job. Even for me, who doesn't like old stones, it was very informative. We will definitely take more tours with “discover Cologne”. Go and do the same. Your Käthe😊

Roman remains in the cellar of a house, fascinating to see what was possible back then.

From an archaeological point of view, perhaps the most important and at the same time best “hidden” and “secret” ancient excavation site in Cologne. Hardly anyone knows it and even fewer have ever been there. Anyone who manages to get in there should be aware of the importance of the site and ideally have some information beforehand. Since the Corona pandemic at the latest, an individual visit for individuals on a private mission has practically no longer been possible (except perhaps once a year on Open Monument Day). It's a shame, the small "museum" was recently extensively renovated and modernized and it would definitely be a highlight on a tour along the Roman city walls of the CCAA.

Very interesting place! Oldest stone building in Cologne, of Roman origin. Unfortunately only accessible on the first Thursday of the month from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Otherwise you can only visit this place as part of a city tour through underground Cologne. As a tour guide, visit the monument regularly with groups.
