Absolute cult location! Unfortunately the atmosphere is anything but relaxed! That's how it should be as a brewery... Food is expensive and so LaLa... Visually great, but... currywurst too spicy, wild boar ragout okay (spätzle dried out). Portion size far too small for the price. Unfortunately not recommended at all.

I wanted to go out to eat with my friend at the Malzmühle today. Unfortunately we were completely ignored - several attempts to speak to an employee (in the cash register area) also failed. Although it wasn't very busy total chaos. We went out again after 10 minutes - I've never experienced anything like that.

A very rustic traditional house with delicious Kölsch and all sorts of dishes to go with it. The schnitzel in malt beer breading stands out because I've only seen it here. Of course there is a lot to choose from, from knuckles and currywurst to kale with Mettwurst. Also for vegetarians, vegan Leberkäs for example.

Stopped in for my wife's favorite beer, Kolsch. What a great experience. They keep bringing the beer until you cover your glass, fresh glass and fresh beer each time. Had to even try their Mettbr|tchen (for raw pork on breadroll). A German treat, and it was great.

Beautiful inn with delicious food. I ate the spaetzle which was really tasty. But the other meals also looked delicious. Very friendly service. You have to visit it once when you're in Cologne.

Of course, you always have to remember that this is a brewery and not a restutant. The food was actually very good. We had schnitzel Viennese style, knuckle with sauerkraut and fried potatoes, knuckle meat, heaven and Ääd. Services very nice. It was very busy and very loud. Like in a brewery...

The waiters were friendly and the Christmas market was right across the street! We ordered the fried pork knuckle (with potato, the first pork knuckle dish listed on the menu)- it was absolutely incredible!!! The waiter was kind enough to break it open for us as it takes a little finesse. Our beer glasses were continually filled with very fresh Kolsch which was lovely. I would love to visit again next time we are in Cologne!

(Translated by Google) Very nice and quaint, often jam-packed, so you should better reserve a place. sat up with the colleagues. The food is good, because there is definitely something for everyone on the menu - you can also find seasonally appropriate home-style specialties (coarse bratwurst with red cabbage and fried potatoes, knuckle ...) The Kölsch is tasty and tasty anyway, which was only served during Lent Fasting beer is fine too. The ambience and authenticity are right here. Everything is not cheap, but reasonable and good. Incidentally, I also do not understand the reviews that refer to lukewarm dishes, because all four of our dishes were "hot" (Original) Sehr nett und urig, oft rappelvoll, deswegen solltet Ihr besser einen Platz reservieren. haben oben gesessen mit den Kollegen.

We came here by reviews and this is supercool place. Huge portions and nice prices. We ordered pork leg and potato pie - both were tasty, it was hard to eat pork - but I made it, as it was good! Also waiting time was very short. Place has old times atmosphere.

Not only is the beer amazing, but the staff are fantastic as well. The waitress was so friendly and helpful in explaining the beer, the process, and a few other questions that the table had as well. It is very well located, easy to get to on public transport. Although I did not try the food, it looked great. English is readily spoken, you can pay with cash or card. The Kölsch is of amazing quality, and is one of the best that Cologne has to offer. Highly recommended for a visit.

This was the best food we had in Köln, hands down. Get the boar with the cabbage and spätzle! We also got the pork belly and would recommended. We arrived about 30 minutes prior to last call for dinner, and they accommodated us kindly.

Went over for a quick drink and a goulash soup as I wasn’t very hungry. Entered the restaurant and no waiter noticed us waiting for a table. At some point I sat down at any of the free tables available. After some time a waitress approached us asking who told us to seat in the table! I explained and she just walked away. She came back to take my order, I ordered a large size of the Goulash soup and a beer. Soup wasn’t bit enough and the bread that came along with the dish was super hard. Strong taste of tomato pure, had way better goulash soups around the world. I think that for the fact of being foreigner we weren’t really welcomed by the staff either for the prob regular customers that were sitting next to us and constantly staring at us.

We here here today. The waiter just came to our table and put 2 beers on the table without asking. Unfortunately, I was still looking at the menu, didn't realised the glass and I overturned the beer glass on the table with the menu.... I apologized for "my mistake" only to find out at the end that the waitress had charged that beer on the bill... I find this to be a horrific customer service. Food was ok, not any better than anywhere else. And next time we will go somewhere else

The kolsch here is very good and the food was delicious as well. Great place to eat. Warning: the metthappen has A LOT of minced pork on it. If this is your thing you will love it. For me it was too much, but that doesn’t change that it was done perfectly.

Made it here on the third try during the madness of Karneval weekend. The first try was on Saturday, the first day of the festival. They were full and there was a €20 entry fee, anyway. Second try was the next afternoon around noon when they were supposed to open but they had a delayed opening by a few hours due cleaning up and recovery from the night prior. Third try was a few hours later on that Sunday. A very quiet, subdued crowd and only about half full. Sat near the kitchen at the high tables for several stange. It is remarkable how different each brand/style of Kölsch is within the same city. This one is much sweeter than others, in a good way, and very unique. Helps you understand why this place is special and well-known.

Pretty good food, but unfortunately the Jägerschnitzel wasn't that good. The atmosphere is typical Kölsch, very loud and rough. It is often full, so be sure to reserve in advance.

Very centrally located, rustic brewery with a feel-good atmosphere. The wooden furnishings make the brewery rustic and cozy, but by no means too dark. The waitresses are authentically Cologne-based, very friendly and super fast. The menu offers a lot of Rhenish classics. The dishes are superbly prepared and taste great.

We had a terrible experience here. We were very excited to try this restaurant today but our waiter was incredibly rude. He walked past the table and very quickly asked if anyone wanted beer. To which two of our group of four responded yes. The other two said no. Then he brought all of us beer. The one member of our group was just like whatever but my wife does not drink alcohol so she said “no I don’t want beer.” He very rudely yelled at her and said “I just asked and you said yes.” Then he tried to give us more beer that we did not ask for and we had to tell him “no we do not want any more.” So we finished our drinks and paid and left. We did not order dinner the way we were planning to. So the restaurant lost a much larger sale because of this very rude waiter. Go to Peters Brauhaus or Sion instead. Both had wonderful service and much better beer too!

Decent brauhaus food in a very traditional establishment. The service could be a little better and it seems as if the waiters are a little selective about who they (like to) serve. Apparently one of the few brew houses, that serves Kölsch that is brewed on site, but it’s not my favourite.

Such a fun a experience! We enjoyed a couple traditional German dishes along with their very refreshing Kölsch (beer). I love the tradition that they continue to bring you beer until you cover your empty beer glass with your coaster. I tried the Fried pork knuckle with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. The pork fell off the bone. Very filling and flavorful. We also shared a salad with goat cheese, that was delicious! The service was friendly and engaging. We really enjoyed our experience. One of our friends is pescatarian and he said his dish was also very flavorful!

Hello all, sorry to say I was deeply disappointed about this place. Just visited for the 3rd (!!) time, and it was also the last time. Service was as alw6pushibg us to get drinks quickly. As we didn't, we got 'punished' by bad food. Schnitzel costing 18 (!!!) Euros was small and burnt, fries were old, and the vegan Flieischkäse was thin, dry and burnt. Not to say tasteless. I was ashamed that this restaurant pretends to be friendly, and typical German. I don't leave any photos to the request of my companion. No compensation or apology was given, and all in all I can sum up with : Cologne has much better to offer, and never again!

Very traditional place, nice environment, the food is delicious, but a little overpriced. The Kölsch is fresh and brewed on site, but the service is definitely not good. Was the third time that I’ve been there because I really like the food, but the waiters are not friendly at all and seem to be very selective about who they want to serve.

(Translated by Google) The first time I was in the malt mill, Mr. Bergow was still Köbes - God bless him -. Since then I have always enjoyed coming back and have never been disappointed. Great food (everything from Himmel un Ääd to burger already ordered), fast service, great Kölsch beer on tap. I was also here for the brewery's anniversary (160 years in 2018). The look behind the scenes, what you learned about Kölsch and the family business, etc. was not only fun, but also made you appreciate the whole thing even more. How the whole thing was organized that day, the interesting tours, all the information (e.g. why the Kölsch doesn't last as long as others), tastings and gigs - no expense or effort was spared here. They even brewed their own anniversary beer for the day, collected unselfish donations for good causes and much more. Back to the Malzmühle itself: cozy, rustic and brewery-typical inside. Always very clean and tidy. You can also buy all products (including barrels) including glasses to take away on site. Drinks are all pre-chilled and therefore "ready to eat". I only find the following points negatively: Over the years the prices have increased enormously and the Köbes is unfortunately no longer really typical Kölsch here. I think that's due to tourism. The service here is simply not so rough (with a wink), less loose sayings to the guest that are shot from the hip. This is also reflected in the reviews here. Here one often reads something according to the motto: "friendly waiter". Unforgettable when Mr. Bergow, for example, simply brought a Kölsch with him, put it on my lid and wished "good health". Since then, I've only experienced that on a brewery tour through Cologne in the Sion. But then why was explained here (before someone complains). So it was, of course, far less spontaneous. Ultimately, however, I can't deduct a star for this and I can understand if you don't want to scare off customers with this unusual way of serving. Still, it's a shame. Conclusion: The malt mill can be recommended without reservation!

Great place to come and eat around Köln they offer good food and lots of beer! When busy there is a great atmosphere. One thing that you should be aware of of this bothers you, you could share a table with a stranger. But other than this the service is great and so is the food. They also offer different menus for different languages.

I heard that it is typical for a Cologne brewery to be not polite to the customer, but personally I think this is too much. Especially the manager of the place is really unpleasant. Besides that the food is ok. If you like lager beer you will like also their beer but this is the only one you will get. If you want any other type of beer this is not the place to go.

(Translated by Google) Always great. As a child, I was there with my parents to experience Cologne's brewery tradition again and again. Delicious Kölsch and a piece of mead, wonderful. At Corona time you feel very safe, everything is clean, disinfected and well protected between the tables with plexiglass. If you want to drink one of the tastiest Kölsch, you are in good hands here. (Original) Immer wieder Klasse.
