This hotel's website states they have climate controlled AC, however, there was no functioning AC in our room and when we checked with the front desk they said that the AC is only turned on during warmer weather. Our room was stifling hot. They did supply us with a fan. Their pillow cases barely cover the pillow so you'll find your head laying on yellow stains from the drool of previous guests. The picture does not show just how disgusting the drool stains are. When checking out we mentioned that the lack of AC made the room very uncomfortable. Their response was that they were unaware of our room having Ac issues and that all the others rooms AC worked which honestly made me even angrier. I would pass this place by.

Clean rooms, warm welcome, friendly staff, delicious breakfast. Just 10 minutes away from the center and 1 minute from the chocolate museum. Easy to reach by car and great view at the Cathedral from the room!

I can’t rate this hotel high enough. I was already grateful that they changed my dates without any fuss but when we arrived we were not disappointed. The hotel is spotless. The guys on reception are friendly, the hotel staff were accommodating. The rooms are modern and the beds comfy. It was perfect for my family stay. We will be back!

This hotel is in a great position one road back from the river and a short walk from the main railway station and city centre. There is a nice little bar just off the lobby too.

Well located. Very comfortable and cozy room and shower. Hot water, fancy, very good hairdryer. Hand lotion. Only bad thing: parking too expensive (24€ per night) with no EV chargers. Apparently EV are not popular in Germany.

Great hotel for the price. We came for Christmas Market in Cologne. 2 people, 2 nights total was €190. It is a very quiet and modern hotel. Staff is nice and kind. It has a parking garage but you need to pay for it. It costs €24 for 1 day. If you are not a guest of the hotel, parking costs twice more. Location wise it was right next to a Christmas Market. We could walk from hotel to all Christmas Markets easily. City center is like 15 minutes on foot. Rooms have Air conditioners. Beds are big and comfortable. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are clean. I definitely recommend.

We had a nice experience during our stay, the staff was polite and the hotel is overall good. I specifically liked the good soundproofing and the gym and sauna. Only rating 4 stars because the room is quite lacking in amenities (missing hotel slippers, dental kit is provided only at a cost in the lobby mini-market, no daily water). I couldn’t connect my own device to the TV HDMI, the TV would say “No signal”. The parking spaces are very tight but that’s normal in Koln.

Pet-friendly hotel, well located, with parking on site and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend. For German standards the hotel is great and good value for money.

There should be serious improvements for a "4-Star" hotel. Breakfast is mediocre, but overpricedfor the quality. Received a room with a malfunctioning bathroom door. The spring matresses and loud traffic makes it very difficult to sleep. The hotel is quite close to the centre of the city and hence making it easy to access a lot of places in Cologne.

This was the last stop on a road trip. We stayed in room 201 for 3 nights (which averaged out at just over €200 a night with parking). Great location, walking distance from old town and most tourist attractions. The room was well designed, spacious and had a comfortable bed. On the first morning a Thursday, we were awoken by loud banging, hammering, and drilling from the room/floor above at approximately 8.15 am. I called reception, they apologised and said they’d try to find out if any maintenance was planned. The work continued, with less intensity but started again at approximately 9.15 am. I spoke to the reception later and was informed that the windows on the floor above were being replaced, I specifically asked if the same thing would happen the next morning and I was told they were due to be finished that day. The next morning, we were awoken again at about 8 am, this time by shuffling and moving in the room above but the banging, hammering, and drilling did not start until approximately 8.45 am. I complained again at reception, they apologised and gave us a complimentary breakfast the following morning. The staff were lovely but to be honest, I would rather have had better sleep. Window fittings are not random and would likely have been planned in advance, I asked the staff two questions 1) why not start the work later e.g. after 12 pm when guests are more likely to be out? and 2) why put paying guests in the vicinity of that noise? I did not get any answers, just apologies. I can only speculate on why the work couldn’t wait but it was Cologne carnival weekend and I assume it has something to do with the company making more money at the expense of other paying guests. I would have picked another hotel had I been made aware of the possibility of works taking place. This was my first experience with the NH chain and unfortunately, it will most likely be my last.

Stayed between 24 - 26 February 2023. Booked standard room with a view, no meal included. We arrived in the morning and needed to drop our suitcases at the reception before the check-in and they kept our suitcases in the meantime. Before we arrived we asked for a room as high as possible and they gave us a room on the last floor. We had in the room water and biscuits included to serve and they were replaced every time the clean service entered. The room and bathroom are very nicely designed, spacious and had everything needed for our stay. We were upgraded for a late check-out at 17 PM without any extra cost. I also broke a wine glass, informed them and there were no extra costs for the damage. The employees were very nice and tried to help as much as possible.

Spacious room, good water pressure, horrible climate control (room aircon wasn’t working and it felt gross and stuffy all night). Had to visit reception multiple times because key-cards didn’t work, or because the garage barrier didn’t open (although good about just opening it when we complained, without being bureaucratic). Location is fine, amenities just OK. Would stay for convenience but not for enjoyment.

The location is amazing, we had a super nice view of the Ferris wheel. The staff was useful and helpful. The parking on site is great, but could be for free for the hotel guests. In overall - recommend.

I was absolutely surprised with how spacious the room was! It felt very good and comfy to stay the night here! All the workers that we approached to were very kind and helpful. I really recommend this hotel, good rooms and service and great location, its a good walking distance from the center.

We booked a group, about 18 persons, for 4 nights, and since day one all the Air conditions in all the rooms are terrible, all of them, the weather was hot already , and the AC were not Working, we contacted the front desk who tried there best to fix the problem but the issue continued, no maintenance come to check, no alternative solutions were given to fix the problem except searching for other rooms , which had the same issue, the facility was not prepared to use the AC. They told us to wait till Monday morning in which the maintenance and the manager will come, and we are still waiting, now halfway our staying time passed, and the issue is not solved, I would to remind you that the hotel mentioned that the facility has AC, but it’s in a very terrible condition.

When I first checked into the room, I found that the trash can was on the desk and the bathroom sink, and the toilet brush was still in the toilet. No positive response was received when informing the front desk of the above situation.

Stayed for a conference in the hotel. Very nice hotel, the views are not spectacular, but the rooms are nice and tidy and clean. Location is close enough to all attractions, but it is a decent walk, mostly along the river. Shopping is quite close, however not in the direct vicinity. Ok breakfast and food. Elevators are painfully slow on rush hours. Could easily stay if visiting Cologne on free time. Real close to the interesting chocolate museum if that is your main reason to stay.

A practical hotel for business trips with functional, clean, spacious rooms. Beds are okay comfortable, but pillows might vary by taste. Friendly staff. Enjoyed the lobby store's snacks and drinks selection. Free internet is slow, paid option available. Requiring 4 or 5 key card replacements was annoying. Bar closed early twice and fully for a private event, disappointing for such a hotel.

My stay at Hotel NH Köln Altstadt was truly exceptional! The staff, including Jonas at the reception, and Max Ormanns during check-out, were outstanding in their service and kindness. Jonas provided impeccable service, making me feel valued and welcome from the moment I arrived. His attention to detail and warm hospitality were truly remarkable. Max Ormanns, who assisted with my check-out, made the process incredibly smooth and pleasant, leaving me with a positive final impression as I departed. The professionalism and genuine care displayed by the staff at this hotel set a high standard for hospitality. Their commitment to ensuring guests have an unforgettable stay is evident in every interaction. The hotel itself is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Cologne. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, offering a serene haven after a day of exploring the nearby attractions. I wholeheartedly recommend NH Köln Altstadt. Thanks to its exceptional team, my stay was truly memorable, and I eagerly anticipate my return to experience this outstanding hotel once more.

After reading all the good reviews, I couldn't wait to visit this hotel. Unfortunately we didn't had a good experience, I thought we would have a walk in shower but it was an old dated bathtub with a shower inside. Roof was broken. A room with a nice shower was not possible if you book with 2 single beds. The next morning we where woken up really heavily with drilling / construction work above our room. Called the reception but they couldn't do anything about it, also didnt gave us any compensation. We felt really stressed and left the room early to not be there. If they would have told us there was a construction we would have booked another hotel. Also no water, flip-flops or washcloth at the room. Just a towel. Beds were oké.

My go-to hotel when visiting cologne. Good price for quality. Helpful staff, good breakfast, and cool bar. Location is also pretty good.

Stayed 2 nights at Hotel NH Koln Altstadt during my 2 weeks trip in Germany with my family. They have a self service hotel shop which allows you to buy some snacks or personal amenities and that is very convenient. It will take you approximately 15 mins to walk to Cologne Cathedral. Fairly good walking distance. The room is newly renovated and spacious. The downside of this hotel is that, the internet reception in my room was bad and I asked the reception on the same day I checked in regarding the issue. It was a Saturday night, and been told that they could do nothing about that now. So, we were living with our own data, not very happy with that.

We booked 2 family rooms for our 4-day family trip in Cologne at NH hotel and the experience was fantastic. The rooms are super clear, very bright with grand windows and beautiful sunlight. The staff and managers are very helpful and always attentive to our requests. The breakfast is generous and lunch was so good. It’s only 10-minute walk to the city center, the Old town and with their advice, we could enjoy our vacation with good foods and nice restaurants and decent prices. A special thank you note to Alex, the Client Manager, the Restaurant Manager, and the whole team, for their excellent service. One of the best experiences in Germany that we have got so far. Highly recommended!

Beds are trash, the internet is even worse. They want to charge 10 euros PER DEVICE to upgrade. They have the free tier so throttled that opening web pages takes a long time to load. Its just to funnel you to overpay for wifi. Will never stay again.

I guess this place was not for us… It has a business vibe, nothing warm or pleasant athmosphere. Just grey space. Staff at reception was very friendly. Breakfast was oke, but seemed minimal to German standards. (For example: no bacon, medium buffet, bread could be better) Spacious rooms, pillows not comfortable at all and bed was too small. Large bathroom with good shower, but floor gets very slippery due to design of the shower. Location was oke, but still a bit far away from the center. We managed by renting steps. Overall not our taste and for the price you can get more central good hotels.

Great hotel positioned about 15 min walk from the main tourist and shopping districts of Köln. Clean and tidy, friendly staff, great breakfast and the added bonus of a late checkout for NH rewards members makes this a great base for a weekend escape.

I stayed with my family for 2 nights at Nh Köln Altstadt. We had a pleasant stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially from the reception. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was really nice. There was a variety of food. The location was really good because of the walking distance to the sightseeings. We would stay till late evening in the city center en walk back to the hotel with a beautiful view on the Hohenzollerbridge. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My five day stay was comfortable: the staff is friendly and attentive. The hotel is clean and well kept although the rooms feel a little dated. I missed the coffee and tea making facilities in the room. I prefer to stay in the Hilton as everything in general is just a little better but the NH proved to be a good enough alternative. The location is great: within 10 minutes you are in the center. My stay included breakfast and it was varied enough not to get bored :-).

For 90€ a night, I think it was very worth the price. Ample and clean rooms, your typical NH toiletries and bed, and varied food options. Parking for 17€ was reasonable, we ended up walking everywhere. Breakfast for 24€, however, was a bit too expensive for me, so I didn’t use it. Would definitely come back to this hotel. Very friendly service at the lobby, they all spoke perfect English.

A beautiful and modern hotel. Ideal to stay when you like to discover Cologne. My stay was business relate, but in the evening this was the ideal place to discover the city. The rooms are big and the bathroom is just large enough for one person. A parking under the hotel is available, but you have to pay extra to leave your care there (€17 / night). Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. So much choice of different kinds of things to eat and all well prepared. I’m going to choose this hotel again for business and pleasure. Thank you for the nice stay!

The staff are amazing, especially the reception staff. I turned up at 9pm after a long and tiring trip and the staff couldnt have been friendlier or more helpfull. The room was nice, breakfast is superb and the one night I had dinner at the hotel it was good. I was here on business and I really enjoyed my stay here.

When it comes to this place, GREAT STAFF is the best way to describe it. They are amazing, dedicated, friendly and caring people. Shout out to Timo who helped us the whole way and we couldn't be more thankful. NH Hotels for life now!

We had a lovely stay! The only minus was a closed restaurant on Friday evening, and also we were not informed about anything upon check-in, only breakfast times. The staff was always friendly and helpful when we had questions. To the city center is about a 10 min walk. The street under the windows is very loud but the windows are sealed perfectly, and no sound came in. Air-conditioning is working well. Parking is behind the hotel for free under the bridge (but always full), and in the hotel garage is 20 € per day. The bar is small, and the position of the cash register is strange for the bartender, who had to turn his back to the customer when was the billing. I would suggest to put it behind the bas, so he has an overview while working. Overall great stay!

Room was comfy with apt amenities, The staff members overall were cooperative. I take away a star because of very few vegan/vegetarian options in breakfast and lunch buffet menu. I asked for something vegetarian from the breakfast live counter and was given a plate full of raw vegetables as Salad.😒😂

Arrived Friday at 4 pm, went to our room, took a shower before leaving to a restaurant and we’ve got a call around 8 pm that my father in law has got an hart attack. Went immediately back to the hotel, grabbed our stuff in 5 minutes and told the reception that we had to leave immediately. After we were in the car I send the hotel an e-mail.. Because I booked a non-refundable room they will not give our money back, we didn’t even used the room. They only want to refund the last night (the cheapest of €100). We’ve paid over €400 (with breakfast), but they will not come with a solution at all.. It’s a shame. We’ve paid €300 for breakfast and a room we didn’t used. In this situation you can be a little bit more human, if they gave us something like a voucher it was also okay. They just send a short E-mail that it was my fault I booked this room, I also told them that it was not planned that my father in law would be lying in a critical situation in the hospital and I would be in Cologne for a business trip. Now they don’t even respond at my e-mails anymore. Will never ever book NH Hotels again if this is the way how they treat people who have just been through something terrible. Shame yourself!! Horrible situation.

Pay attention to what you leave in the room. My golden necklace was stolen from the jewelry box that I use for travelling. I put it to the hand bag that kept in the closet (regret that I didn’t use the safe) I though it will be safe at the hotel rather than at the dmexco event. Hotel stands with their stuff, so no internal investigation will be organized. That is why take care of your things, preferably do not ask to clean your room during the stay. Golden necklace disappeared after the room was cleaned…

Incorporative staff...they can say anything to avoid giving you their time. Terrible Hotel management.. They will start education you instead of admitting to the mistake. In addition, if you are driving... don't bother yourself to stay in there else you will end up parking on streets (if you are lucky to find any space :))

Asked 4x for extra blanket, never got one. No airco, slept on floor to try and manage (hence the blanket for floor). Breakfast was great, plenty of choices

Nice hotel that is circa 20 minutes walking distance of Cologne's Cathedral and one street crossover away from the river. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast offers a good diversity and the co-working space has a nice coffee machine. The place also has a bar plus several meeting rooms for businesses. Os: they take carnival seriously and that is a good thing!

Sehr empfehlenswert.
