This was a last minute booking for a trip to the Christmas markets. We booked the deluxe and looking at the other reviews I would say that it's definitely worth paying a bit extra for the deluxe. Absolute massive room, modern bathroom, comfy bed and a very good heating system for December! It's the first time I have stayed in a hotel with no tea/coffee facilities in the room. We had a little fridge and with Lidl a short walk away we got some drinks and kept them cool in the fridge. Do not try and book in a minute early as they will make you sit and wait until 2 pm exactly! The hotel is in the worst location. Its in the middle of what seems to be the industrial area, we felt very unsafe walking back to the hotel at night! The hotel does look better on the inside, the outside definitely needs a lick of paint. The nearest bus station was quite a walk away and the walk to the centre was miles away with loads of homeless people along the way. The hotel staff was friendly though.

I booked the hotel through the booking platform 1.5 months ago, paid the full amount, but 2 weeks before the stay, we received a message from the hotel that they canceled our reservation and offered another hotel that was not suitable for us. It costs me a whole week to find another hotel and additional expenses.

we had several issues with our rooms. The shower backs up and I had 3 in of water in the bathroom. The refrigerator didn't work, the safe was locked and unusable. Coffee or Tea was not available in the room and they tried to charge us for it in the evening. 3 nights were horrible but no other choice. We wanted to be close to the Fair to avoid the taxi, but when you calculate it .. the only good thing.

My wife and I travelled to the hotel on a very hot day and when we got there , we had to check into a room that we directly facing the sun very very hot no fan , no air conditioning even after paying a 20Euro deposits for a fan it made no difference . it was so hot that we had to check out an hour later because we couldn't stay . There was no compensation or even an apology from the reception. Would not recommend that hotel.

This was my second time at Centro Hotel Ayun and again I was disappointed with the hotel. This would be my last time here. The area where the hotel is located doesn't have pretty much any service. No grocery store, no decent restaurant and all in all the area is still (like it was 4 years ago) a giant landfill/construction yard. The hotel itself is pretty outside. Inside it's a bit dated. Breakfast isn't included with the room. If you pay for it you will get a very bland serving which wasn't worth the money. The fact that there are no grocery stores near you can't even just walk and get something. Closest one is around 10 mins by car. The rooms are modern with a good bed. Some rooms have ugly views to the backyard and some (mostly from the third froor) you get a view to the nearby street. Nothing special. The wifi is free and unprotected. Be sure to pick the right one. It works randomly and of course isn't that fast. The bathroom is ok for one person but for two it's just too small. The biggest issue is that the room doesn't have a minibar. Reception sells Coca-Cola, Sprite and Fanta (for 2,50€ per bottle) but you can't get water. Anywhere. The whole hotel does not sell any water in bottles. The rooms do not have a possibility to iron your clothes. My most recent room had an AC which worked fine. If you are a light sleeper be ready for the trains. The trains will get you at night. All in all a very disappointing experience. Can't even give much praise to the reception which just does it's work and nothing else. A bit robotic I would say. If you want it cheap and don't mind about the negatives it's a nice place to stay. If you need anything else I would just pick something else.

Decent place to stay and it was about 15 to 20 minutes walking distance from the train to go into Cologne. The area is a must visit during the Holidays. I forgot to add that our room was very nice and large for a family of four. It was two rooms separated with a long bathroom which is unusual to see in Europe.

Friendly and professional staff. Not bad breakfast variety, great home baked bread! Rooms are modern. Bathrooms are top notch. They have a terrace down where you can freely smoke green. 😀

I had a one might stay in here. The bed and pillow are comfortable. Lights in the room is very unevenly distributed and can nit make the brighter in a good way. The cleaning of the bathroom was average. Overall experience was okay. The breakfast was included and was reasonably okay.

Very basic hotel that got the job done for one night. Within walking distance of the Claudius thermé, if you are visiting Cologne for a short stay I would recommend getting a room here. We were even able to get ubereats food delivered late night.

We stayed there 3 nights. The room was okay, pretty ugly with a view to the backyard but calm, we slept good, although pillows were not the best. No AC. Very tiny bathroom can fit only 1 person at a time. The breakfast was quite nice, but they take time to refill food though. 25 min walk to the centre, 5 min to the train station, Lidl 7 min walk.

One of the cheapest options to rent a whole hotel room inside the city. The service is great, it's allowed to keep the luggage before check-in and after check-out. The staff is friendly and make their work properly. Location isn't convenient, there is an abandoned factory next to the hotel, where people don't feel safe, especially nights (don't know about the real crime rate but still it's a bit frightening). The rooms have everything what travelers need, however it's a bit small for two people. There were some insects inside (but considering that it was the end of spring, I guess it's okay). The furniture has definitely seen a lot. So generally the hotel is okay but I wouldn't return there.

Parking: Advertised on the website that there is parking for guest (additional fee, which is to be expected) but upon arrival and waiting in line for 35 minutes we were told there was no parking. Service: Service was rude and snappy. No " Welcome how are you, how can we help?" Just "Identification". There was a form we needed to fill out that was shoved towards us with little to no explanation. Rooms: The rooms are small, cramped and noisy. The beds are super stiff and you can feel the springs and they are very creaky. The view is very nice if you like train tracks. The train goes right past the windows.

Lots of people loitering on the street in front of the hotel in the middle of night. Bed is like marshmallow. Room small and smelly. Needs updating.

Just one-night hotel. My window was opposite a railway line and all night long I heard railway noises.

Good morning, me and other 6 people have yet to stay at your hotels, in particular at the Arkadia hotel center. I sent 3 emails asking for information for a late check-in, since the flight will land at 22.20 in the evening in the 28th of April, but I have not received any response. I read that check in is done at Ayun Hotel also for Arkadia Hotel. Is it possible to get replies to emails?

Smallest room and toilet that I have ever seen. Small beds, Super uncomfortable. Party hotel, we could hear music from other rooms and people all night on the streets. It is not bad to spend a night if you go to Boothaus.

Bar was closed on a Saturday night, the employees didn't check the people that came inside the hotel. The room was dirty, there where brown spots on the walls and the beds where really small. The blanket was very cold for December. They say it's very close to the centrum, but it was a 45 minute walk. Breakfast was not included and very confusing. The food was not that great. So after all, a lot of money for a bad experience.

I spent 3 nights there for a business trip. The room was alright but the desk service was terrible. I got charged with “imaginary drinks” that I never ordered and even though everything (room & breakfast) was paid by my employer they were asking for me to complete the payment. I had to call in emergency my employer to resolve the problem… Luckily the lady at the front desk found a solution but what a stressful situation.

One of the only reasons why this hotel is still working is most likely the proximity to the conference hall. The hair dryer was greasy (see picture) and room wasn't very clean in general.

We booked and payed online but there's a long line in the reception area. I stand-up there for a long 30 mins soaked from the rain. Then we were given a room that is not we booked! We were told it's because there's no King/Queen Size bed available — but we booked and made reservation already, how could that be?! We asked for refund and the receptionist gave us an email address to process it — clearly he doesn't want to deal with us anymore. Very bad service. Would not recommend the place.

Very minimalist hotel with breakfast served only. Despite being a non-smoking hotel, the roof immediately outside my window was littered with cigarette butts thrown down from smokers on the floor above. I had to keep the windows closed until about 03:00 to keep the smoke out. Breakfast was pretty good -- Sausage, Bacon, Eggs, and various cereals, fruits, breads. No phones in the rooms, so if you need something from housekeeping, you need to go to the front desk. No foam/hypoallergenic pillows available. There is a bar, but in three nights, it was never open. Room was clean and great water pressure in the shower. The shower valves are not thermostatic or pressure-compensating, so you need to be a little careful as the water temp can swing from cold to hot to cold. Rooms were clean, but need maintenance. Walls were a little dinged up and the elevator door was terribly scratched up. The best thing is that it is very close to the Messeplatz, about a five minute walk from the north entrance.

If you're ok with the basics only, this place may appeal to you. My room was clean, which was the most important thing for me. There aren't many restaurants around but it's really close to the concert venue, Gebäude 9.

    1. Be prepared to bring cash to this hotel....(I stayed 2 nights). There is a cash point on the next parallel street but it was out of order and not working. 2. This really annoyed me, the hotel charges EUR 40 refundable deposit to borrow an iron. I just landed at the airport late night and hard a really early morning start. I had no cash and could not put the charge onto my bill and paying by card and refunding me I think was too complicated for reception so thankfully she let me borrow the iron anyway. I only used it for 10 mins. 3. I was shocked about the deposit for the iron, I've stayed in many hotels all over Europe and this is the first time borrowing an iron was an issue, I felt like I was begging for an iron. The other receptionist on duty said "if you think charging a deposit for an iron is strange, we also charge a deposit for knife and fork".... she was not joking! I immediately clarified if she meant breakfast but she advised that no cutlery deposit for breakfast is required, only a cutlery deposit for dinner followed by "welcome to Cologne". Points 1 to 3 was my check in experience. 4. Following morning: The room was very, very dusty e.g. I had my phone on the bed side table and when I woke could see dust on the screen. I hate to think what dust I was breathing in whilst sleeping. My black jacket had visible dust also. 5. Carpet has stains 6. I was in quiet part of hotel on 1st floor but could still hear noise in the morning from cars and motorbikes driving by outside at 5:30am. 7. If someone is walking in corridor directly outside room door I could hear their footsteps clearly let alone if they're talking. 8. There is a poorly placed shelf above the sink in bathroom which means you cannot put your head over the sink completely to wash your face resulting in water over yourself or the floor. 9. I went out to dinner in town with colleagues (who stayed at a different hotel which was unfortunately fully booked). Upon my return I immediately went to the fridge at reception to get a bottle of water as I was thirsty and so I also had a drink in my room. I returned quite late. I asked for the water to be charged to my room bill but the guy at reception said this was not possible and I had to pay now. I then tried to pay by card but he said they only accept cash. I politely challenged him and said how do I get water then and he just shrugged his shoulders. I was quite annoyed so I took the water and walked off saying my room number and said to make a note of it and I will pay EUR 2 next day. I was really angry at the shrugged shoulder response, very unhelpful for a simple glass of water alternative option he could have given instead. 10. I was visiting ISM exhibition and the only good thing about this hotel is the short 5 minute walk to the tram or exhibition centre...other than this the hotel is rubbish 11. Breakfast is very basic standard stuff and typical of budget hotel. I did not have dinner. 12. Wifi instructions provided at reception are in German language only. They do not have an English language wifi instructions! You have to type a user name and password on the paper they give you. The wifi randomly disconnected a couple of times during a WhatsApp call and so you have to retype everything again to get a connection if you leave the hotel you have to enter the user name and password on the paper again, it does not remember you. There are 2 wifi connections named Ayunxx after the hotel but you actually need the connection called mycloud. I observed 2 guests at reception at different times clarifying wifi instructions because it wasn't clear to them because they dont speak German and process isn't obvious due to too many network names 12. As mentioned, I've stayed in hotels all over Europe and also in other German cities. I travel a lot for work over the last 10 years. This hotel is one my worst hotel experiences I've had after a long time. I do not recommend this hotel. Avoid!

Arrivons Sunday 21h00 After a long trip. A really not friendly women told me I can’t check in without a negative COVID test need to go to the airport to get one. In my reservation confirmation it is not noticed anywhere that a negativ Covid test is needed for check in.

Not even 1* rude receptionist, very small rooms and very basic! No coffee machine in the room! Old Tv, ugly and horrible bed! Try to avoid this place

No WIFI. The hotel promised to refund the cost of the cloud internet service but is now refusing to issue the refund. Two previous reviews of the hotel have been removed. Staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. Abhorrent customer relations. The hotel sent me an extremely rude and insulting email and has now blocked my email.

It smelled like cigarettes everywhere, even my towels. It was so disgusting, it says everywhere that the hotel is a nonsmoking hotel but they dont care about that. The lights in the room where horrible bright and the remote from the TV was sticky. My bed had weird brown spots on it and it was overall very trashy.

  • 3/5 Patrice A. 1 year ago on Google
The price is right. Service was really nice while dealing with some system troubles. But we didn't sleep well because of the heat in the room, no clima and the window was directly and the entrance, so that there was middle of night and early morning noises. The mattress was way to soft, so that you could roll of the side because it was just sinking in.
