Filthy rooms. Do not leave your key at the front desk! They will not ask you for your identification. Anyone can just walk up and ask if they can have your room key. The cleaning team did not lock our door after leaving, even though the door bolt was already visibly bent from a previous break in. There is a safe, use it.

The hotel overall was pretty good. I have absolutely no idea why the reviews are so bad. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and the cleaning lady came once in two days. Free tea and coffee available 24/7. The only thing that was a bit uncomfortable was the absence of mini bar. I enjoyed out stay and def would recommend the hotel to the budget travellers.

I stayed at this hotel during a work trip and was pleasantly surprised after reading all these negative comments. The staff was very friendly and hotel room was completely fine. Yes a bit outdated but that was not bothering in any way. To sum it up, had a good stay and would come back :) The only thing I didn’t really understand was that my room didn’t have a curtain. Stayed on the top floor with a tilted window but a roller blind seemed to be missing. Since it’s winter this wasn’t a big issue but I can imagine in spring / summer you don’t want to be waking up at 5am because of the sun flight.

Seriously one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I went out last night and for my surprise a friend of mine from Canada booked this hotel as a little surprise so I could stay near to where I was partying in. The room smelled weird, extremely old fashioned (normally it’s fine, but not here). Bathroom is mediocre, toilet wasn’t flushing correctly, the shower head wobbly and did not really do it’s job properly. The check in was tedious, unprofessional, and on top of that I had to pay €7,02 for city tax for one night!? After the room being €150 already! A room that at its max should cost barely even €50! The people are aren’t at all kind either! Quite rude and quite lazy too. Before checking out I went for breakfast, this was around 9:40am, the breakfast, or what was left of it (not a lot) was mediocre at best. Bread did not taste nor feel fresh, there was no bacon left (or whatever may have been in that tray) there were quite a fee things missing. The guy walking around could not understand that I wanted plain water, without gas. He insisted with me that the big bottle of water he has brought to me was plain water, when it obviously was not!!! So I left the breakfast room and went to check out… The woman at reception did bring me two small bottles of plain water after I complained about what happened at the breakfast room… but she wasn’t really too excited to help out, such a bored expression, looking quite angry at the same time, like she did not want to work at all. I checked out but she couldn’t even care, barely looked at me nor smiled, nothing, not a word from her when I said I wanted to check out, took the keys and that was it. The only good thing is the breakfast room is quite beautiful! This place is a load of rubbish! Don’t recommend, in fact, stay away!

We recently stayed at Novum Hotel Leonet in Cologne, and, regrettably, it was a far cry from a comfortable experience. The hotel, which felt more like a guest house, presented a series of disappointments that significantly impacted my stay. Firstly, the room conditions were appalling. We were greeted with a piercingly cold atmosphere, which was only worsened by the filthy room. This disregard for basic cleanliness was a major red flag. To add to the discomfort, an overpowering smell of cigarettes permeated the room. This persistent odour made it impossible to relax or sleep appropriately during our two-night stay. When I approached reception to address these issues, the response was lacklustre. Despite making them aware of the unbearable room conditions, their approach merely noted the complaints without taking tangible action to resolve them. My requests for a room change were flatly denied, leaving us to endure the same unpleasant environment. Additionally, when I asked for a portable heater to alleviate the cold, this request was denied without any alternative solution. The final straw was their refusal to provide a refund or compensation for the substandard conditions we endured. The customer service was not just unhelpful but showed a complete lack of empathy for our situation. It was evident that guest comfort and satisfaction were not priorities at this establishment. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against staying at Novum Hotel Leonet. The combination of poor room conditions, an unresponsive and uncaring staff, and a complete disregard for guest comfort make it a place to be avoided. It was, without exaggeration, a truly horrible experience, and I hope others can avoid it by choosing a different accommodation in Cologne.

We booked a room with a double bed and a couch, meant for 4 people (clearly stated on their website and booking websites). We got there to a double bed and a single bed, them saying they don't have rooms for 4 people. Extremely unfriendly staff (except for one guy there who was a bit nicer) We booked a 4 people room, but only with 3 people when making the online payment, thinking that we could have another person later and pay a bit extra, like 15-20 euros. But no, they insisted we need to book a separate single room. The room itself was okay

Very friendly, helpful and supportive staff. Great service. Got our bathroom sink unpluged within minutes. Got offered a free bedroom for an hour to make a business call that required privacy. Very delicious breakfast with a huge variety. Very central. Very well connected to public transport. Comfortable and clean rooms. Lift available.

The only good thing is the location - walking-distance to the office we had to be for our business trip. The rest (room, breakfast) was mediocre. Sadly the room I had was in the basement and it overlooked the break area of employees. If I tried to open the windows there would be a lot of noise coming in.

I spent five days at the Novum hotel. Check in was quick and the lady who checked me was very friendly and kindly offered me an upgrade because my birthday was close. The room was big enough for me and was well furnished. The linen was clean and smelled well. The hotel offers a drink voucher of you don't wish your room to get housekeeping. The wifi was also very decent. The hotel is centrally located in Kõln and was a short walk to the University where l was attending a conference. Check out was until 12pm which was good. All in all enjoyed my stay at Novum and would highly recommend. Only critic maybe is that my room was on the ground floor close to an inner court where hotel staff took their smoke breaks. The smoke coming into room was somewhat unpleasant.

The reviews are a lot worse than what we experienced. We stayed for 3 nights in room 227. We were coming to cologne for the Christmas markets. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the main shops and 20 minutes from the cathedral. We were about 10 minutes away from the angel Christmas market. I was with our 84 year old grandma so we got Ubers into town which cost about 10 euros each way. Not too bad really. The room was spacious and plenty of storage for our things. The room was cleaned everyday and was spotless. Breakfast was ok and was included in our holiday package but I wouldn’t pay extra for it as it was quite basic. On one day the hot food container was not turned on and it was all cold. However there was enough to have a substantial breakfast. Wifi didn’t work. Door was very hard to open with the key and we heard other people struggle with it too. No water in the vending machine but they have red bulls and beer. We paid for late check out until 3pm and paid 15 euros. Overall I would stay here again and it’s good for a budget holiday away

Awful stay here, they are charging €300 per night for a room but offering €50 per night in quality. Rooms are very dated, dirty and cramped. Was a heatwave but no fan, AC or even bottled water in the rooms!! The staff were unhelpful and rude at reception, when I complained no apology was made or any compensation offered, despite our 3 night stay there. Do not stay here!!

We booked a double-bed room with breakfast for 2 days
When we reached at the hotel they gave us a very small " L " form room with 2 separate beds which were lying separately from each other (One bed was placed at the small side of the "L" shaped room and the other was placed at the long side of the "L" shaped room).
The room was in the ground floor facing to the common backyard of multiple buildings which was not bigger than 250 square meters and only letting 5 or 6 cars to park at the same time. The only view was a parked car directly in front of the room window which was nearly 50-60 centimetres away. The day light also couldn't reach the room.
After I asked them to change our room only because of my booking a double room, I was asked to shift the beds together so that I can get a double bed room. I answered politely that the room is very small and we cannot shift nothing to nowhere. Then we were given another room on the 4th floor facing to the street which was not so bad like the first one. The new room had two single beds positioned together.
The breakfast was also poor.

They still have the old furnished rooms with dirty, stained carpets. Some rooms have newer furnishings, but don't expect the room to be modern. No air conditioning. They had no hot water, then no water. Great location, but try one of the many other hotels nearby. The night staff was great, but day staff really just don't care.

We travel to alot of hotels in different countries, but this must be one of the dirtiest worn down hotels we've stayed in, Website only show the few good rooms, ours top of hotel dirty an ripped wallpaper, curtains hanging from rail, bathroom worn out, staff unhelpful, told them safe deposit box not working in room " yea I'll fix it later" which never happened, bedside lights only one working.came away in december with 2 other couples, -1+ degrees an heating not working in rooms, told staff sed they knew nothing about it but they did as there was a little useless fan heater in rooms, couple in I'll health told they could move them tomorrow maybe so have a free breakfast on us???? £187 for 2 nights no breakfast included.AVOID AT ALL COST.

Very simple rooms that are in need of an upgrade. Small space and no aircondition. The trash bins were right outside my window do when the window was open smells would come in or you hear the staff during their break. They should definitely have their breaks, but it’s unfortunate it’s right outside your room when you’re trying to sleep. Breakfast was simple and nothing special. Location wise there are no complaints. Walking distance to most things. Staff at the reception was friendly.

Not a 100 % clean. Bathroom pretty dirty. There were many spiders in my room. I got a room facing the backside of the building and it was incredibly noisy. Pretty bad breakfast. The location and connections are ok. I just wouldn't go back there.

This is by far one of worst customer service hotels in the world. The hosts are mean and have attitudes with the customers. They always have problems and are very inefficient. I have pictures of people just waiting to check in. This happens everyday around 3.

The hotel: you get what you pay for. That’s it. The showers need to be remodeled, they look disgusting. Please get rid of bath tubs. No one uses them anyways. There is no air conditioning. You may not need it even in the summer but this is something you should be aware of. Guests can be loud. Some guests were playing music, laughing, screaming until 3am. No one told them to stop. Apparently there is no policy regarding noise. Breakfast is mediocre. If you want convenience then you are fine. If you look for quality and variety then go out and get your breakfast elsewhere. Internet is ok. Not super fast. Front desk/ customer service: Guys were great and friendly. Girls were cold and rude, especially the Asian lady. Location: great location. Easy access to everything.

Wauw, what a terrible experience. Not only do the rooms look awful the hotel is absolutely unreachable. Called 12 times during a period of 2 days and the phone was only picked up the last time. Got disrespected during breakfast and yelled at by one of the staff. Creditcard was charged twice and they don’t pick up the phone. Safe yourself the trouble and book at another hotel.

Awful rooms. No air con. Hotel smells bad. Open windows to bin smell. Insite parking has no space and risk scratching your car. Awful unhelpful staff. We had to leave 5min after arriving and they refused to refund anything.

Breakfast was included in the price. The room was old but clean. The bed was comfortable and the staff was nice. The hotel is near the centre of köln. Possibility to park the car in a nearby safe garage. I recommend this hotel.

No air conditioning in rooms. A breakfast is not included in the price. Very weird room numbering. Poor wi-fi. Located just 1 km from Köln Süd station and 2 km from Köln Central station. A lot of small restaurants around. A small playground 20 m from the hotel.

The rooms are nice and clean. Hotel is centrally located especially for a number of neighbouring gay bars. The breakfast isn’t the greatest. You can go else where for your breakfast money. There is a Lidl around the corner for groceries as well.

All together our room wasn't properly cleaned when we checked in. The cupboard was dirty and jelly bears were laying arround, the toilet has stains from someone colouring hair, the Hair dryer worked exactly one time for 3 minutes and the ventilation is at the beginning super loud. After the complaint we came back to a tidy room. The lady working at breakfast is super friendly.

Wow. Don't stay here. Last minute booking at Christmas meant restricted choice of hotels. Ended up at this dump. Some of the rooms are miniscule and they still charge top rate. There's no view as the window is 8/9 foot off the ground (on the 2nd floor) and the smell of the room was awful too. Would rather miss out on a trip than stay in this again.

Nice and cheap hotel, the beds are comfortable and the area that is located in is lively and young populated.

  • 2/5 Viviane B. 4 years ago on Google
We ask a room for 3 persons. 1 person has to sleep on a sofa-bed. The matras was so hard, you felt the metal things from the matras on your back. The person who has slept on it didn't slept the whole night and had back-problems and hip-problems after. This person had to pay the whole price for this😐 this is not fair. The hotel looks nice but when you see further you can see that they didn't take care of things...it's old. The staff at the breakfast specialy the lady was very kind. And the breakfastplace was very cozy and the food was good.

Worst experience ever! We arrived at the hotel at 2:40pm they made us wait until 3pm to let us know that one of the two rooms we have booked was canceled, even though cancelation was not possible due to the booking we had. After arguing 30mins they told us they will give us a call and they will sort things out, but time passed, we called and called and no one picked up the phone. Then we arrived at 2am to find out there was no reservation on our name and we had no place to stay. Rude staff, unfriendly, no willingness to help and on top of that they were antivaxxers PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND CHOOSE ANOTHER HOTEL

Good location, near public transport and mall. We had a room that the curtain was not longer properly attached, it did not bother us very much but to give your hotel a good appearance, wisdom will be to restore what you need to restore. At some point there was a bad smell in the corridor, maybe it was a pipeline .. but also wisdom will be to look at such things. We had chosen not to take breakfast because otherwise we would make two days of loss, the price of breakfast separately was too pricey. Anyway the hotel has a good location, the room was just okay not dirty but had nothing special also. It's okay

  • 4/5 Chak H. 1 year ago on Google
Very old and outdated rooms and furnishing. Beds had no springs so sagged in the middle. It's ok if you managed to get the rooms cheap - the inclusive breakfast was well worth it.

  • 4/5 Dan H. 6 years ago on Google
Clean with good service. Spoke English well. Rooms are a bit small but serviceable. About what you'd expect from a budget chain like a Premier Inn. Easy walking distance from central shops. Area is a bit downmarket, but it's a real party area with lots of bars within a couple of blocks, including a few gay bars. If you want something cheaper and livelier, the hostel around the corner seems to be a party hostel with a big crowd in the lounge.
