No checking place. A very bad living experience. All sockets, lamp and television in my room were broken, even their staff cannot fix the television after trying fixing that for 1 hour which significantly delay my traveling schedule. So their staff suggested me to ask for reimbursement, and I did but after one week I got response that those problems I encountered is not their faults, so they refuse to reimburse me but only give me a 5% coupon for next booking..... And the room is much narrower, the bed almost blocks the room so I need to jump on/off bed to walk between toilet and desk side. >>> FOLLOW ON The television was NEVER be fixed (at least before I checked out). Neither was the lamp.

Great location. The room given to me is good enough. The only problem is that there is no stuff the hole is operated by a locking machine. As the hotel is in a congested area you will hear noice all time. Overall it is a good hotel to me till now

1-Internet is super slow! 2-Worst windows in terms of noise reduction and sun blockage!!! 3- bad mattress But also some +positive things: 1- great staff ( the lady at the reception was so helpful) 2-the location is 5 star...only 5 min walking to the dome and subway, 10 min walking to the train station 3- spacious clean room I gave it 3 star because of mainly not getting a good night sleep. If they could only soundproof or at least put thicker curtains for the light!

Pros: Location was perfect. We were literally around the corner from the cathedral and it's Christmas market, and minutes away from another one. We were on the top floor (room 42), which had a large balcony with good views. Good heating. Good for our one night stay. Decent breakfast that included cereal, bread and cheese, cold meats like ham and salami, yogurt, Orange juice, hot coffee and tea, and hard boiled eggs. Cons: we had a double, and my side happened to be very squeaky. The bathroom after a few uses started to smell like urine (poor ventilation or not cleaned too well). Overall: good, comfortable and surprisingly quiet place to stay for 1 night, considering its location from both cathedral and train station. Bring slippers or flip-flops.

Horrible hotel. The room is small, the balcony is full of sigaret buts, the shower is old and above all, no reception or any personal feel with this hotel. It is 90 euro's very bad spent

Very small place, you need to jump over the bed to get to the other side of the room, the shower was dirty, the telephone doesn't work the cable was broken. Very hot in the summer and no AC! Also the whole building smells like Döner and WiFi did not work..!! The only good things is the location and the bed was comfortable.

Worst holiday accommodation EVER. Under no circumstances, do NOT book to stay in the Domspatz City Apartment via Dom Hotel Am Romerbrunnen on Booking.com. We arrived at 8pm and couldn't get into the hotel to check-in, it had closed. Rang Booking.com to be told to access our key from a keysafe - not what our check-in instructions had said. We were then given rubbish verbal directions to the apartment. It is not in an apartment block, even though there is one called Domspatz City apartments. You enter through the back of a kebab shop, past the kitchen and store room, up 4 flights of tiny stairs with no lift (great with suitcases for a family of 5 for a fortnight's holiday), to what can only be described as a bedsit. The shower is in the hall behind a curtain. The "lounge" contains 4 chairs and 4 single beds - not suitable for families at all. There were no glasses, bowls or bottle opener in the kitchen. The ridiculously loud noise (shouting) from the kebab and pizza shops below, plus the music from bars close by, plus drunk homeless people gathering on the street corner and arguing carried on until 4.30am. There were 2 adults and 3 kids. We had been travelling from Liverpool since 4am and needed to sleep. What is worse, is that the cathedral (100m away) started ringing the bells at 7.30am the next day.... for hours. Even if you had gone with friends and stayed up drinking, you wouldn't want to be woken up to that. We literally couldn't stay so checked out THREE DAYS EARLY. We lost all our money (600 euro), that is how bad it was. NEVER, EVER STAY HERE. When we checked out they offered to swap us into a different apartment, but there was no way we could stay. It was awful. I don't have a photo, but if you look it up on Google streetview, the entrance is via the Istanbul kebab shop and the apartment is the top floor windows (4th floor) above the kebab shop... NOT the apartment block next door. (Which would have been equally as noisy to be honest. Drunk, homeless people gather to drink on the street corner and the music from bars and cars stopping for food is SOOO loud).

I do not recommend to anyone the hotel Domspatz! My boyfriend and I found dirty rooms with hair, pubic hair and dust EVERYWHERE, a soap used in the shower, the curtain did not touch the ground and in the morning all the light came in, blankets small and unsuitable for the winter season (during the night the room was so cold), orribile smells on the stairs, just two little towel, and much more... we asked at the reception (which is not even in the hotel but you have to go to another hotel) to clean the room and the next day anyone comes to clean our room. Do not stay at the domspatz hotel!! The only positive thing is the position for the rest very bad!!!

I have never seen such a horrible customer service than at Domspatz Hotel I Boardinghouse before. After making sure that their so called self-check in terminal works around a clock by calling them prior to our stay, we weren't able to check in at 3:30 am. No one could help us, their emergency call told us to just go to another hotel and check-in there. The best part was that we never got back the money for the room we paid for in advance neither for the taxi costs. We heard nothing from them. So thanks to their comfortably NOT around the clock working innovative check-in kiosk we had to find a room at 3:30 in the morning somewhere in Cologne. Never would go there again!

Nice rooms but they had me change hotels 2 times because they suddenly ran out of rooms - ended up in a different part of the city altogether -_-

I am a budget traveller and stayed here for one night, after a full day travelling and before another full day's travelling. Positives: location is excellent and we wanted somewhere close to the station, so the location was perfect. Negatives: - we had given an arrival time but hotel was closed. Had to collect keys from a REALLY noisy kiosk round the corner. Didn't appreciate having to get my passport and personal info out whilst surrounded by drunken people. - street noise, including loud music from kiosk (though this was turned off at a reasonable time) - bedclothes were clean BUT other things in the room weren't: a horribly stained throw on the chair (I do not even want to know what it was!) and a cushion on the bed had a gross stain on it too. - bottle of water in the room was open and, obviously then, couldn't be drank. - long hairs on the bahroom shelf - the floor towel, I believe, wasn't fresh - shower filled up with water and had lots of someone else's hair floating in it - black mould on the tiling - check out is 11am: it felt like we were being hassled out of our room. Door knocked repeatedly and opened around 9.30 and again at 10.30am. Overall: I would not recommend this hotel. I regularly stay in hostels/ b&bs / budget hotels which are cleaner and friendlier. The lady on reception the next morning was pleasant enough and said she would let the manager know but I don't believe they will make any actual changes.

AVOID! SCAM! BEWARE! CAUTION!! Avoid this hotel / Boardinghouse at all costs!!! I paid for 2 nights stay and could not sleep 1 night in this Boardinghouse. The kiosk assigns codes for entry into the building and the room. The code that I was given for the room did not work. I tried many times to enter the code correctly, but it NEVER worked. I called the hotel service line and was told they could not fix the problem and I should book a stay at a different hotel. The next day I demanded a refund for my original room, but the receptionist could not do so. SERIOUSLY?!?!?! Because of this kiosk error, I could not sleep in a room I paid for; I had to pay for a separate room at a separate hotel instead. At the time of this writing, have not been refunded my original hotel fare. I was scammed by Dom Hotel Boardinghouse. I paid for a room for 2 nights, and could not enter my booked room because the assigned code did not work. I would assign this hotel a ZERO if I could. Google does not allow it; hence the 1 star.
