Terrible one… probably one of my worst experiences in Germany. The hotel is extremely expensive, rooms are tiny, dirty and super noisy at the point that I could hear other room sniffing… The customer service is not helpful and very rude (except for one young lady in the front desk). It’s a shame for Cologne city that this hotel is receiving tourists. This service level should not be allowed. The location is good.

Horrible hotel and customer service Booked this hotel while in town for a big event in the city and had to take what was available at last minute, making a wrong choice of room and hotel. The hotel is horrible, old, smelly and the customer service is probably one of the worst I have experienced. Although the location is very good, close to the Dom and city center, the neighborhood is shady and doesn’t feel safe. Wouldn’t recommend it to solo female travelers. Noises and yelling coming from people in the street and the multiple 24x7 convenience shops and late open restaurants. Renewed tiny room, with a foully smell that matches with the 60’s look of the reception desk and the stairs. I will NEVER book again this so called ‘hotel’ and recommend to everybody to avoid.

If i could give it 0 stars i would. I made my reservations 6 months in advance. When i arrived they informed me they were overbooked and wanted to put me in a different building than the main one. No AC and no elevator. I booked three rooms at the time of reservation, all three were separated. The internet wasn’t even strong enough for the card machine to probably work. I declined to stay in the hotel and asked for a refund. I was informed I would have to wait until Monday to call the managers. After fully explaining the situation to the manager on Monday she hung up on me. I called back an wasn’t able to get anyone to answer the phone. I filed a complaint with booking. They didn’t even answer the phone for booking. Don’t waste your time staying here. Con artist.

We arrived at the hotel at 1:40 PM and were informed that the check-in time was strictly at 2 PM, despite rooms being available. Unfortunately, the reception staff's demeanor was less than welcoming, which did not improve our first impression. The room size was disappointingly small, with the double bed being notably compact and barely accommodating. On a positive note, the hotel's location is commendably convenient, situated a stone's throw away from the train station, providing easy access to nearby areas.

We were lucky and got a very nice large room since we were a group of 4 adults. It was almost like a converted apartment on the top floor. Staff was nice and very helpful when we checked in but when we needed an extra roll of toilet paper it seemed like a huge hassle and we were asked why we left the Do Not Disturb sign on our door if we needed toilet paper. We didn't need a full room cleaning with new sheets and towels, we just wanted one roll of toilet paper. Didn't think it would be that big of a deal? Overall a nice location and affordable price but wouldn't stay here again.

The rooms are nice. The lady in reception is also nice. But the lady in Breakfast room is very impolite, bad-mannered. She don’t know how to speak in a normal way, but sarcasm.🤷‍♂️

There are no locks inside the room, or even a paper hanger with the "do not disturb/please clean the room" to inform the staff that someone is inside. The toilet door has a fake lock that doesn't do anything either. Even I locked the main door with the key and drag a chair to the door (so it could be seen even if someone tried to come in), the cleaning person still could come in easily and straight to the toilet. I was getting ready for shower well before standard checkout time and suddenly someone put the keys in the lock, push and drag the chair away, then tried to open the toilet door all while listening to earphones and not even wearing mask. If you don't like people being able to come into your room even though you close the door and leave the key in the lock, do not stay here.

Location is excellent. 2 mins walk to train station. Aside from that - I’ll never stay here again. Front desk - supremely rude and gruff. No A/C made the heat unbearable. Fan in room was missing speed knob. Poor lighting in room,. No Desk lamp. Room was clean. Never coming here again. Wish I had seen the reviews before I booked it.

Worst hotel experience of my life :( My first rooms bathroom had many problems and the receptionist accused me of causing that in my first day! When they finally changed my room (it took them 2 days) , although I said we need separate beds million times, they did not even bothered to separate two beds. Receptionists were incredibly rude and disrespectful and didn't even bothered themselves to help or apologize in any way. Other than the location of the hotel, I do not recommend for anyone to stay there.

Fantastic location a few minutes walk from the cathedral. Staff helpful and friendly, bedrooms small but clean. Generally starting to get a little tired looking but this is out weighed by the plusses

BREAKFAST: breakfast is quite good. They have have loads of carbs and decent protein meals. LOCATION: excellent location. Close to the cathedral, restaurants and shops RECEPTIONIST: the male receptionist is quite not hospitable. He doesn’t even know how to greet the guests and smile. THE ROOM: although the room is quiet, I don’t like the beddings, it seems like their beddings are already ancient. It’s already yellowish in colour. The toilet is screwed, it doesn’t have bidet. The shower curtain needs replacement. The room lacks lightings too, it doesn’t have any lighting on the mirror area where you groom yourself. Recommendation to replace their keys to key cards. Still thankful to have a room though.

the only good thing of this place is the location. our room has broken room & shower curtains, very dusty tables, & a basin plug thats stuck. had to pry it out. WC door is jammed (can't close properly). service isn't great either, with the receptionist don't know what to do. would like a refund if possible

Very small and uncomfortable room. It smells mossy and completely amortized. It is even hard to take a bath. I would never come back.

Yes this was a pretty subpar hotel to be fully honest. No airconditioning, bad service, terrible breakfast (that apparently wasn’t even included in the price), questionable rooms with a ceiling that was falling apart. Now if these rooms were let’s say 50€ or even 100€ per night I could have lived with it. But surge pricing during Gamescom made this hotel room cost more than 300€ per night. This is ridiculous and honestly should not be allowed. The only upside of this hotel is it’s proximity to the train station… but yeah definitely would NOT recommend.

Impossible to claim a refund. My flight got cancelled due to the weather. I’ve called the place, I’ve sent them a message via their website - did not achieve anything. Staff members told me to call during the week to get the manager, later on told me that the manager will not be able to sort this out - useless.

I will start with it's redeeming features, which there are 2... The location, a few hundred yards from the central station and Cathedral. The only other redeeming feature is surprisingly that the room was very clean, no hairs or mould to be found. Will also add at this point that the TV was pretty decent too, good size and we could share our screen to it and watch some TV from home. Unfortunately nothing else really lived up to expectations, the toilet was completely boxed in and near impossible to use unless you were a child or as small as one. Never attempted use of the hairdryer, didn't really want to as has clearly got hot in the past which had melted the casing. We appeared to have one curtain missing and the remaining curtain neither covered the whole window or was capable of keeping ourselves from view, had to wedge my case between the bed and wall to stop being blinded by the light. The elevator is also rather snug and if you are a person of very large proportion, use of such may be a struggle, not to mention the getting off of said elevator on the first floor is also tricky due to the laundry cages dumped right outside of the door. The overall decor is quite pleasing however it could do with a good freshen up as there's marks and gauges everywhere. My last comment is a bit petty but it's operated on old fashion key locks which don't turn particularly well and I just didn't feel confident in them locking correctly

The entire place is filthy, the carpets are not vacuumed for years. The staff is badly organised and complains about everything, they even fight with each others. They know that it is bad but they can't do anything - The owner sits in Hamburg...This is the worst managed place I have ever seen, and I felt ashamed for my business partner who also had to stay there. On top of it there is no possibility to rate via Bookingdotcom " because this is a special partner/tariff whatsoever :((("

The staff here are wonderfully accommodating and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The bed is comfy and the breakfast was delicious. I also love the almost hidden entrance - you feel like it’s a secret place and you have to be in the know you find it. Overall a wonderful place to stay, walking distance to everything here in the heart of Cologne.

I need to give 5 stars to the location for the sake of honesty, but I still wouldn't recommend this place. The guy at the entrance was very cold and unfriendly, both to me and to his colleague. He treated me with contempt when I asked a question, and exploded on his colleague for the same reason. Elevator is bouncy as hell. Bring a rosary when you get in if that's what gives you peace, or take the stinking stairs. All the carpet, and I mean all the carpet, is stained and dirty. The doors to the rooms are scratched. The smell in the building and especially in the bedroom, is foul, of rotting eggs and moldy water pipes. I couldn't even open the window because -drumroll- an AC unit was working the entire time outside of it and it made a horrible noise. Which by the way, persisted through the night. But it all would have been solvable, it all would have been better, if the receptionists hadn't been so rude and unmotivated - though I really can't fault the lady because with a colleague like that I'd hate my job too. That's also what prompted me to not raise the issues, as I don't really feel like going to poke a bear. Unpleasant experience. Book somewhere else, even if just for one night.

The room was clean and warm (in December). The hotel was located really close to the Dom and the train station. We were able to leave our bags in luggage storage. There was an issue with our room at check in which was sorted promptly. I've rated the service so low because when we first arrived at 12.30pm a woman barked at us that check in was at 2pm. I didn't even get a chance to speak! I'd literally just walked in the door after a long journey and was not impressed at all to be met with such rudeness. Quite possibly the worst first impression. I never expect to be able to check in early but I do expect to be spoken to politely when I've paid for a service. I'm sorry, but I can't give any higher than a 3* with a first impression like that.

Perfect location and breakfast. But, during the 4 nights i could not sleep at all because at the corridor the exit sign beeped so loudly. I made a complaint after the first night and nothing was changed. The staff could not speak English and they did not smile.

All-around pretty good for the budget. Nice location. Rooms aren't big, but they are big enough for the stay. Just two issues from my stay: - No air conditioning. I guess this is common in this part of Europe, but note that on a hot day the room temperature can be unbearable. - Not sure if it's related to water shortage problem in Europe but the water from the tap/shower were too weak. It was more like a trickle.

Good points: -Very, very friendly staff! -Cheap -Perfect location (right in the city center) -Good breakfast Points that can be improved -Small room -Room not cleaned even with the tag “Please clean my room” -Room smelling like cigarettes -Room not very clean and partly broken (outlet in the bathroom)

Unfortunately the room was really small, cleaning service very bad! Breakfast most of the time empty, with 30 min before to finish the breakfast u can’t find anything else on the table! Personal staff very arrogant

    1. There was a man in reception who named frank! He is very uneducated and unfortunately impolite, I’m really sorry to say, but he was acting like an unprofessional person who had no idea about customer relationships and basics! He was answering each question carelessly and reluctantly! 2.The Cleanliness and hygiene situation was a chaos ! 3.Toilets and bathroom were unbelievable uncomfortable and dirty ! 4. There was a technical problem with our room light ! 5.The pillows were annoying and unfortunately poor quality! 6.there was a problem with bathroom faucet and shower cabin! 7. The price was 80 Euro per night for 2 person in this hotel( Christmas holidays 2020), while the other newly renovated hotels were and still are more cost effective than this old stinky hotel! 8. I seriously don’t and won’t recommend this hotel to anyone and never ever would like to remind my worst one night accommodation in that hell! 9. I can write many further worst reviews about this hotel but if you want to experience a night with nightmare, here you go!

We arrived early so we waited a until our room was prepared. (I had tried to contact the hotel a week prior to our arrival to request an earlier check in but no one responded). A couple of hours later we returned to be informed we would have a room with two single beds that can be pushed together to make a double. Exhausted, we didn't complain and took the room. Unfortunately, the room didn't look as advertised the floor was dusty and the room was very small. Not to mention EVERY noise from the surrounding rooms could be heard clearly. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Nice place with room to improve. They have no toilet facilities at the reception or in the breakfast room which I find shocking. We stayed on the top floor with no elevator and the for was near to impossible to open for an adult so everytime one of my kids needed to use the toilet, I had to go with them all the way up to the room. Location is great though and the room was big.
