    This is the first time i felt i have to be responsible and write a review about this club, so people can have an idea about the current situation there. I am a member since 2010, 12 years of different stages in this club, different feelings. When i joined things seemed correct ( although there was always a problem of communication out reach ). The Saunas were cleaned every half an hour, aroma fragrance everywhere, the management was checking every now and then for any inappropriate behavior...cleaning team divided into 2 persons: 1 for the men area and another one for the ladies area as well. All departments were cleaned on a regular basis. The training facilities were top, and updated very often.Courses as well. Trainers top level, mature with characters. Now, things have changed dramatically, and this is the saddest part of it !!. Now The saunas are disgusting and extremely unsanitary. The large pool nearly half of the year is out of order, and if not, it is often full. In addition, only one large towel and one small towel are given out, which is absolutely not enough for training, sauna and showers. This detail was also the reason why I decided to join the club 12 years ago... Good qualified trainers with characters left ( now you have very average young trainers who are never there to see or reach, or who does not seem to understand whats going on really ...). Some nice people from the management department left as well, the ones who could speak to you on a human level and put off their suit mask!! The new staff at the reception does not feel responsible for anything and written complaints are not answered. The toilets are becoming dirty and smell so strongly of urine. The cleaning service clean only 4 times a day ( you can read the cleaning agenda sheet right there in the toilet ) . The cleanliness is clearly and steadily decreasing. Since 2 weeks now, only cold water, and no one seem to care. although its really cold outside now... Too bad for my club, it is currently being driven against the wall by mismanagement unfortunately, and i´ ve lost hope for real, and that´s why i am writing this review today after 12 years of membership.

    Good! Equipment is modern and facilities are ok. Maintenance could be better. Especially showers and sauna not the best, because not taken care of that well it looks like. The premium character gets a little lost here. Also the training area is a little over packed with equipment. But many cool courses and variety of new classes and content. Up to date!

Mein Hinweis, dass Windstärke 3 im Maschinenraum zu Erkältungen führt wenn man beim Training schwitzt wurde ein "Nein-das stimmt nicht- soll ich jetzt die Lüftung ausstellen..??" Ebenfalls schön zu sehen, dass Traditionen gepflegt werden, so auch, dass man beim Schwimmen mit Brille eine wundervolle Unterwasserwelt geboten bekommt von Pflastern über Haarbüschel und dergleichen mehr! Das meine Kritik als unverschämt interpretiert wird, wundert mich und auch andere (bereits gekündigte) Mitglieder nicht. Am Parken ist nichts ausszusetzen; das liegt wahrscheinlich vordergründig daran, dass dieser Service durch das DORINT Hotel umgesetzt wird... Beim Sport empfehlte ich Rollkragenpullover oder Windjacke ! Kundenfreundlichenkeit, Service und Diplomatie sind hier fehl am Platz. Mit Kritik geht man gar nicht um, man wird vor vollendete Tatsachen gestellt und gerne auch mal für dumm verkauft. Wer zu Zeiten der Aqua-Gymnastik kommt hat Pech gehabt wenn er schwimmen möchte- weiterhin sind Duschen und Toiletten selten in einwandfreien Zustand, Geräte sind oft defekt und werden erst nach mehrmaligen Hinweis repariert bzw. als defekt gekennzeichnet.... wenn man Glück hat, im Freihantel Bereich fehlt einfachstes Zubehör - auch hier auf Rückfrage passiert nichts... Heute war die Klima-Anlage defekt, dennoch war es eiskalt - bei Ansprache eines Mitarbeiters sagte man Zitat :"...wenn Ihnen kalt ist müssen Sie wohl einen Pullover mitbringen..." Der "Duschscheisser", welcher über lange Zeit seinen Enddarm in wechselnden Tagen und Kabinen entleert hat, scheint nun ein anderes Hobby zu haben. Der jahrelange Schimmel in den Duschen wurde nun weiss überstrichen - BRAVO. Dafür darf man am Leben eines Personal-Trainers (groß und blond) aktiv und passiv teil nehmen; auch wenn man dies nicht wünscht erfährt man alles über ihn und seinen letzten Urlaub - auch wenn man im letzten Winkel des Kraftraums ist, da er sehr laut und mehr oder weniger konstant spricht.... Andere Personal Trainer grüßen nach Belieben, in der Regel aber eher nicht... quasi eine familiäre Atmosphäre...

    It used to be a premium gym but not anymore. The showers have no hot water since May 2022 and for more than a year the problem has not been permanently fixed. I complained to the reception and they told me that they have paid a lot to fix it but they don't know when it will be as it is not her "who makes the appointments" (not sure why the customer should care). Besides half of the equipment is accessible with an extra pay, so it results overcrowding the rest of the machines. I am a member for 4 years but will probably quit, paying more for getting less is not a good deal anymore. PS: sad to see fake reviews as well here with staged pictures. Probably instead of taking feedback seriously, it was easier to put some fake reviews... PS2: I have quited my contract and the gym responded after one month, asking for 10 months extra, so it will finish in the ''anniversary'' of the 5 years. They have imposed a 10% increase. Completely our of scope and abusive service. Btw the showers, May 2022 - Jan 2024 are still without hot water.

    Since few weeks the water in the showers is NOT WARM. I had to do this review to warn other because few days without warm water is acceptable but not weeks. Additionally they informed us that there wont be free parking for 6 weeks; when we asked for an option they just told us to go find a parking spor ourselves.

    One star because of the aggressive selling of memberships and the unfriendliness of the sales employee. I researched on Holmes Place Website that I could get a trial month for €49, I came to the gym with the intention of swimming right away. Instead, I had to wait for the sales employee in the lounge area and then the sales employee first tried to sell me a day pass for €30 - while a free day pass is available online on the Holmes Place website - and then he tried to sell me a full year membership and did not want to offer the €49 trial month that I saw on the website. To which I directly on the spot filled in the membership form for €49 online. The sales employee then proceeded to mislead me trying to tell me I cannot go the same day and trying still to sell me a €30 day pass - terrible, meanwhile a receptionist up front had told me a day pass would be €10 once I entered before I met the sales employee. I then read my contract to see that actually I am allowed right away to visit my chosen Holmes Place branch - but I already left so I had to come back - several hours of my day lost. This is really such terrible and misleading service. I think that the customers needs should be first priority and not the sales employees sales targets. I felt tricked, misled and just like I was a sales target, truly unpleasant. The swimming pool they have itself is not bad, quite short 20m and not very deep (1.2m). The jacuzzi and saunas and steam room are all nice.

    Initially I thought it’s a wonderful idea to outsource the gym and spa to a partner company - instead of operating your own hotel gym. Turns out, there’s more downsides than upsides for hotel guests. A hotel gym is frequented only by hotel guests and is less crowded. A hotel is likely going to repair a not-functioning whirlpool to make sure that you have an overall positive experience. When the spa is part of the Hotel, you can charge services back to your room. Its not the case here, if you paid for your room upfront. The rooms don’t have a direct line to the spa, you have to google the phone number and call them. By the way, it’ll cost you €15 per day (not per stay!). Won’t be coming back. I was hoping for a nice mini getaway location, but won’t be back here again. Too bad.

Was im Gegensatz zum Rest eher kleinlich erscheint ist die Tatsache, dass man am Telefon in Berlin von "Serverproblemen" sprach, man mir stets Woche für Woche versicherte "nächste Woche ist das Geld ganz sicher da" und die Warteschleife ins nirgendwo führt. Es wäre alles halb so schlimm gewesen, wenn man sich von Holmes Place Seite aus irgendwie erkenntlich, oder reumütig gezeigt hätte mit was auch immer. Das war aber leider nicht der Fall, sondern ich hatte viel mehr das Gefühl, dass man in Köln froh war mich mit dem Problem nach Berlin abgeschoben zu haben. Altes aber simples Motto: Aus den Augen, aus dem Sinn und nach mir die Sinnflut. Wie gesagt das Studio war okay, aber da kann das Studio noch so herausragend sein, was dann eben am Ende auch nicht war, wenn man im Nachhinein so einen Stress damit hat, dann überwiegt das halt einfach und deshalb gibt es auch nur einen Stern. Ich würde allen raten, die sich diesen Stress, duzende Anrufe und seinem Geld hinterherlaufen sparen wollen: GEHT NICHT ZUM HOLMES PLACE!!!

Das von der Studioleitung es so gewünscht ist mit Mitgliedern umzugehen, spricht für das Verhalten der Führung. Kein Wunder, dass seit Jahren der Laden meiner Ansicht nach immer weiter an die Wand gefahren wird. Ein Glück, dass man zurück in die Holmes Place Kette gekommen ist. Wie kann man auf die Loyalität von Mitgliedern bauen, wenn man selbst bei den eindeutigsten Dingen sich dermaßen querstellt. Loyalität vom Club gegenüber Mitgliedern ist ja quasi gleich null – Wahnsinn! Viele Studios lassen einen beim Umzug außerordentlich kündigen. Aus Loyalität – dieses Wort wird im Holmes Place leider nur in der Außenwerbung verwendet. Alle Punkte hier aufzuführen, würde den Rahmen sprengen. Vieles kann man den vorherigen Kommentaren entnehmen! Es tut mir sehr leid für viele Mitarbeiter, unter solchen Umständen beschäftigt zu sein. Zum Glück gibt es eine hohe Fluktuation und man lernt sicher fürs Leben. Ich empfehle jedem, handschriftliche Ergänzungen in seinem Vertrag vorzunehmen. Angefangen von den Kündigungsfristen bis hin zu den monatlichen Beiträgen, damit man sich später nicht ärgern muss. Die einzelnen Mitglieder zahlen sehr unterschiedliche Beiträge. Man hat meiner Meinung nach jahrelang die Beiträge runtergeschraubt, um an Mitglieder zu kommen. Mit Premium hat dies meiner Ansicht nichts mehr zu tun.

    My phone was stolen in this gym, and the reception staff showed zero concern. Only the manager tried to help, but we couldn't find it. Some employees are friendly, but a few are totally unpleasant with customers. Improve customer service and address security issues promptly.

    My recent visit to the gym was quite disappointing, primarily due to the less-than-friendly staff. As a first-time visitor, I inquired about the gym's operating hours and was assured it was open until 23. I paid a fee of 29 euros and was informed that I had a generous window of 1.5 hours to explore the facility, including the sauna. However, to my dismay, I later discovered that I only had 1.5 hours to experience everything, which wasn't clearly communicated. Moreover, the staff's behavior was disheartening; they entered the women's changing room when I was just five minutes over my allotted time. Despite my politeness and gratitude when leaving, they didn't even acknowledge my thanks. It was an unfortunate encounter with rather impolite staff. As a person who tried so many gyms around the world I don't recommend this gym at all.

    The largest benefits are location, sauna and pool. My personal experience was not really good: there is a lot of chlorine in the pool, broken sport equipment was not fixed, permanent thefts are the largest problem, price increasing which is not mentioned in the contract.

    Today was the first time I visited Holmes Place after hearing very good feedbacks about it. The check in went really very well. A young lady was really helpful and kind and switch to English without having me asking for when she realised I did not understand what she told me in German. However, the young man wearing this ugly big ring was the worst. He completely ignored me for like 5 whole minutes. He took care of people arriving after me… Is there a VIP list I am not aware of, or is it because of my skin tone? 🙃 When I finally got his attention, he gave me attitudes, but finally opened the door so I could go out, but then he did not return my credit card I had left before as deposit. He went on serving other customers. I had to wait the whole queue just because he did not want to do his job.

    For the expats, I will write another review in English. I do agree that the salespeople are not very honest. So if you want to sign a good deal, you have to negotiate, and get all the things you negotiate on paper. The first time my boyfriend and I came, we got an offer where we good cancel our contract every month, but the other sales person told us it was not possible and that we have to sign up for at least a year. I clearly stated: "We want to be able to end the contract monthly, we want the price to be the same as for a normal contract and we want to pay less for the first month, because it already started." It happened just like that. But don't be afraid to come across as a though negotiater in this place, otherwise you can get into problems like the other reviewers describe or you will just pay too much. After you get through this rough patch, the gym is quite nice and the trainers are helpful. One very small girl is even too helpful, because she asked my boyfriend out. I also saw her flirting with the other men, a bit unprofessional if you ask me, especially when the girlfriend is also training at the same gym. Also, the period that I was doing sport there, the pool was closed for several days and the Jacuzzi for several weeks. I think the price is too high for the quality that they offer. But overall I really had a good time there, because: it is very central, there is a wide range of classes on offer that I could join and the teachers and other visitors were most of the time pretty nice.

    Originally a really solid, high-end gym. Unfortunately lowering itself to sub standard by issues which could be avoided : - constantly something is short in supply or in need of fixing. Desinfectant wipes empty, botanical soap dispensers empty or being replaced with plain white soap, grubby corners in need of cleaning, smelly drains, cold water in showers, no water pressure in shower and drinking tap, smoking staff at the street entrance carrying the smell back in, reception staff not in sync with their consultation calendar. Come on Holmes Place, pick yourself up!

    I wanted to try this place cause I had a promotional price from my work. I liked the sauna. The training gears are OK, not so spectacular. I don't do group training so cannot say much about this. They offer trainer, I don't need rather. The swimming pool is not deep nor big but one can still swim. My experience is : this is good for the sauna but for real training with the machin rather too expensive!

    from the first approach the gym looks good. but it turns out the staff is not flexible and not focused on the customer. To get a feedback from Central Office on the issue takes ages. And they in general not capable to understand the customer and provide some support while the issue has not been solved/ or remains pending. One thing to add to shower area - a lot of mold and especially on the ceiling

    Today was the third time I've attended this gym. The first two times I had a wonderful experience. However, today I was greeted by a rather rude and condescending staff member who clearly thought I was not appropriate clientele for such a 'premium' gym. Perhaps this was due to the fact that I am an Urban Sports member, as opposed to a direct member of Holmes Place, as other members were greeted with big smiles and a friendly, helpful service. I left feeling unwelcome and without any desire to return. Indeed the facilities are fantastic, nevertheless, I'd rather an 'inferior' gym where I at least feel welcomed!

    The facilities are great. I especially love that they provide a females-only sauna which is heated to 90 degrees!! 😍 There is a swimming pool for training and what's also great is that the showers are each separated individually for privacy (not very common in Germany!). They also have a beauty bar.

    Although it seems like the 'best' sports-club in Cologne, do not believe it! You pay everything, and they do nothing for you. I mean, paying a lot for 'Starting Package' and then ~70-80 € per month and then recieving no service!!! I'd prefer to choose another cheaper club and to be in contact with some 'interested' people/management. So, I will end my 3months-membership soon. Actually, before I did my registration, I have read many bad comments but i did not believe them. But, they are all true. They are only interested in your money, not yourself. If you look at benefit/cost ratio, it is too low!!! Customer Service is too bad, trainers are not really following you, they are not as professional as they look like. Sorry...

    STAY AWAY!!! My contact expired after 2 years on 1st June 2013, I sent an email on time to cancel the renewal. No reply, I called them, spoke to 10 different persons, no solution. Amount of classes: you can always find something for yourself (starting 7am till 8/9pm). Great benefit is pool and sauna. Plenty of members events (PT night, Blackfriday, new launches), however this good get better and more often. once in a while you receive a free pass for a friend or a spouse. Just a few days ago they renovated the ladies lockers and prior also the shower area and i think its really great that they keep on doing some renovations here and there. Overall i would give 4.5 out of 5 and also you can always find someone who speaks English, also all classes are made in German. Price is quiet reasonable and in line with the competition.     AVOID THIS GYM Despite letting Holmes Place know that we are leaving the country and want to cancel our membership they rolled this over into another 12 months without notice and are now continuing to charge us. Their customer service is awful and when you try and speak to anyone in the gym about this they direct you to speak to someone from head office, this then takes weeks to get a response and they give no acknowledgement. Do not be fooled by the nice facilities
