This museum is closed until 2021 due to construction in the area. This info should be highlighted on their website!

Loved visiting this site! It’s quite cheap (€4,5pp) and you can spend about 1-1,5hours there. There’s a small museum with some models etc, you can visit the Roman sewer system and an underground ruin. One downside: most of the info is in German, there’s only very little info in English. Not accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. There’s a restroom and coatcheck available.

(Translated by Google) Very inconspicuous from the outside is the Praetorium in the middle of the city of Cologne. Unbelievable what you have under your feet, if you walk through Cologne. Definitely worth a visit. The entrance is cheap.

Yep, another Roman ruins museum that just amazes me! All you need is about an hour here. Absolutely loved the reproductions of what the ruins originally looked like.

(Translated by Google) The inconspicuous museum is practically in the center of Cologne. Visit is definitely worth it. The exposition of the museum is small, but tells quite well about the Roman past of the city. Do not miss the cesspool))) (Original) Неприметный музей практически в центре Кёльна. Посетить однозначно стоит. Экспозиция музея небольшая, но рассказывает достаточно хорошо о римском прошлом города. Не пропустите клоаку)))

My 2nd favourite historical site in Cologne. Easy to overlook, but a shame to miss. You go under the city to see historical Roman city hall/ Palace remains. It doesn't take too long to do, but is well worth any detour. They found the ruins during rebuilding after WWII, and decided to protect it by building an underground cement cover of some sort. Can't believe I walked by for years without realizing what enchanting history was waiting behind that a assuming entrance.

WOW! The staff here dont speak much or any English but the main chap, an older gentleman, did an amazing and brilliantly animated job of hand gesturing how to best experience the exhibits. If this place was in the UK all the items would be at least 6 feet behind a rope and glass but you could actually touch some of the old statues and finds in this place, there wasn't a sign in English to say I couldn't so assumed it was ok to do so?! There wasn't much English translated signage for the exhibits, what was there was addequate, what wasn't there was easily translated by google apps. Superb examples of Roman finds and architecture. Hope to revisit!

Beautiful. It's a few minutes, just that. It's not the biggest ruin you get to see but it's worth the ticket

Perfect program for a rainy/cold day or if you are interested in the Roman history. Pretty impressive to see how Cologne used to look like back then. The entrance fee is really low and the exhibition really interesting.

Must see place in all of Cologne. Here stood the house of the Roman governor. And for a ~ €3 entry fee this visit is a steal. If you enjoy any amount of history, go here; it's not every day you get to walk through the first few centuries of AD. Could even walk down and through the ancient sewage system.

Very old archaeological site for Roman ruins. The building needs maintenance. Lift/elevator was broke & it's a very difficult climb down 30 plus steep steps. Be sure to use handrail! Went on a "free day". Would have been disappointed at full price.

I loved this museum. I was with a friend from overseas and we didn't book any tour but I will return with a booked tour that much I enjoyed it. The sewage tunnel is nothing for the faint heart. Claustrophobic situation but still amazing. The rich history in form of buildings is simply breathtaking.

Pretty cool little place. You can get through the whole thing, every exhibit, every display in 20 minutes if you take your time. Hardly any translated info though so if you don't read German, bring your phone and Google translate it be prepared to guess a lot.

(Translated by Google) I like to visit this place with our foreign visit to show a piece of history. The only thing that can be improved are the opening times and the probably still a multilingual offer. However, our last visit is already months ago, may be that everything has improved. • 4/5 Ciprian M. 6 years ago on Google
Good historical place but a little bit small. Only some ancient town foundation.

  • 5/5 Patrick M. 8 years ago on Google
For 3.50 euro, you can go under the current town hall where the foundation of the Roman town hall is found. Not a whole lot of artifacts, but for the price? Its a good pick.

(Translated by Google) Unexpectedly tall and beautiful. One does not expect that something big hidden under a 50s construction is. Unfortunately, the praetorium is currently closed due to remodeling measures (the archaeological zone where the Jewish Museum is created is connected underground to the praetorium.) )
