Had the most amazing tour with Mike, I've done over 50 walking tours and this was up there with the best. Perfect mixture of history, quirky fun facts, hilarious anecdotes and high energy! The perfect introduction to an incredible city I already can't wait to revisit!!!

There are a lot of walking tours to choose from in Cologne but I’m happy I chose this one! Our guide Fede was welcoming, funny, warm, friendly and full of incredible facts about the city. He was amazingly adept at navigating the crowded streets with a very large group, and I came away with a buzz and a real feel for the exciting spirit of Köln. Would recommend to any first time visitors!

Took this tour soon after arriving and can think of no better introduction to the city of Cologne. Our tour guide Mike was from Buffalo, New York, US, and from arrival was friendly, knowledgeable, and fun. Having majored in history, he perfectly combined historical information with humor. Mike pointed out not just the architectural details in the buildings and sculptures, but told us the stories behind them to give us a true flavor for the people and background of Cologne. When the rains picked up, Mike knew where to take us for cover and always kept a positive outlook. While this was a free tour, Mike told us upfront that this is how he makes his living. Considering that his tour was as interesting and entertaining as a movie, I gave Mike a well-earned, generous tip, and so should you!

My wife and I have done several free walks in various cities, but the Cologne walk was the best one until now. All credit goes to our tour guide, Izzy. Walking with Izzy was like being in a YouTube video about the history of Cologne. His stories were weird and whacky, but the manner in which he told them simply blew our mind. Seriously. His jokes and innuendos had us smiling throughout, sometimes even laughing. Both of us were, quite literally, in awe of him. Izzy was like a stand-up comedian who has perfected his act. His mannerisms, jokes, stories, etc. were spot on. If you do go for Freewalk Cologne, please insist on doing the tour with Izzy. I promise you will not regret the decision. He might just prove to be the highlight of your day.

I got a kind of VIP experience since I was the only one on my tour - the weather was terrible- and I really appreciated that Izzy did not cancel it. This tour was disappointing. I don't know if it was the "story" the company gives its guides to tell about Cologne, or the quality of the history of the city itself, but the city came off in a bad light -- lazy and indifferent. The tour starts in a rather dirty and rundown part of the city and takes quite a while before going to nicer areas. Also, all three groups (different languages) basically took the same route, leading to crowding at certain "sites." I'd recommend exploring on your own or finding a walking tour that starts elsewhere.

While the tours is quite long (2,5h) it takes you truly though most important monuments and it is entertaining and funny.
