Very disorganized overall and frankly disappointing. The entire castle was booked for a wedding and another entire event - however, none of this was communicated when we reserved the room. As a result, they only had one tiny terrace that could fit a max of 25-30 people for the entire castle guests. This was a surprise "gift" discovered at check-in when we booked the room 4 MONTHS in advance. No communication whatsoever to guests of the hotel beforehand that probably would have chosen another hotel to avoid the drama and lack of services. The entire day was filled with miscommunication between oh no the terrace is closed, actually it is open, the bar is closed, no it's open, actually it's definitely closed... but you have the lobby, though. Guests were confused and waiting for menus for 30 minutes with no communication from anyone. Some kept asking for a table to eat their food. Strangers sat together in the same seating because there was no room anywhere... They had all their staff focus on the wedding and event and only had one waitress on the terrace for everyone else. So basically, paying hotel guests were left wandering, confused, stuck, and overall with subpar service for a 5-star hotel. When they tried to "offer" something for the inconvenience, there was lots of miscommunication as well between spas, massages, and buffet tickets, but oh yes, we won't charge you NOW, but definitely later. So I guess they think it's ok for us to pay 100 euros per person for a BBQ buffet event as a "sorry for the inconvenience"... We just wanted a normal castle restaurant. It's not a matter of price but a matter of principle. Overall, we've been to many 5 star hotels, and this was definitely the worst experience we've had. You will be paying almost $400 a night for NO. No restaurant, no bar, no full hotel access, no communication, no pretzel at 7:15 pm, no coffee in the room, no library, and no table for eating on the tiny terrace. They kept proposing for us to drive outside the castle even though we booked specifically to be IN the castle. If you are going to prioritize a wedding AND an event because it's more money and close everything, then do us all a favor and mark all the rooms as booked so you don't waste our time. Don't try to be greedy and want everything but offer nothing.

This beautifully restored and impeccably restored castle is full of fairytale romanticism. A perfect forest getaway just outside of Frankfurt. No gym, spa or pool, and there are many events and group dinners here, so the lobby lounge has some crowded moments. Have a drink in the bar, coffee and cake by the fireplace, dinner in the elegant dining room or seasonal fondue chalet. Then enjoy the luxury of your elegant room.

The website of the hotel advertised “a royal weekend” for us, and indeed it was something special. Of course, immersive atmosphere of the castle and its surrounding. Great service. Magnificent dinner and delicious breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant. All together it made our stay there special as promised. Exceptional! And many thanks to all the stuff.

Frankly disappointed with the room, the restaurants, the grounds, and the castle. On our tour of Germany we had lots of different castle hotels to choose from. We liked this one outside of Frankfurt (our entry/exit city) because it offered beautiful grounds, lush rooms, and 4 restaurants—but no. Starting with the rooms. We splurged on a deluxe room with a balcony. It looked nothing like the website photos. It was mostly modern looking. Had no tub. Had no coffee maker. The balcony had no protection from sun or rain and was very tiny and dirty. Misrepresentation about the restaurants. The main restaurant serves the breakfast but not dinner during the summer. This breakfast was not good. The cheese sat out from the first breakfast to the second and there were lots of fruit flies. The beer garden restaurant was temporarily closed. The terrace restaurant has a limited menus and seats 12 on a good day or whenever they allow it to be open, so we had to sit at the loungers and couches awkwardly eating expensive food off coffee tables. There seemed to be private events going on which amounted to staff being busy elsewhere and groups of people blocking the doorways or taking up the terrace loungers. And the Italian restaurant, we never did find. We were never offered solutions such as eating at the bar—we didn’t even find the bar until day 2. From the reviews it sounds like there was afternoon tea, no staff mentioned that experience to us, we would have enjoyed that. No hard liquor is served before 6 pm. We were also excited about simply wandering around the castle, but no, that turned out to not really be an option—the entry lounge is closed for the afternoon until 6 pm. The library was closed for some special event that was set up for the 2 days we were there but was never used. I think those were the only places we were welcome to wander. The staff never let us know any amenities of the castle. There isn’t a pool or sauna. There’s a “forest pool” but I think that was that was either the duck pond in the city park or the mucky reflecting pool on the grounds??? The grounds were associated with the private golf club, not the castle hotel. The outside grounds of the castle were closed in various places to repair fountains and roads. We went in late summer, that should be their busy season, right? The rose garden was wonderful—I really enjoyed that. Otherwise, I can’t recommend this hotel.

What a great experience. The castle was amazing it was like a museum there was antique oil paintings on all the walls. the halls and main rooms were furnished in important antiques. The service was top notch. We had dinner in the main dinning room it was a 5 star experience. The grounds gardens and golf course were beautiful. We will return.

The most amazing stunning royal residence which still looks pretty original! Always a joy to visit. I’ve never been lucky enough to stay overnight but having been here for weddings I can definitely say this is a wonderful experience. Was here today as a Celebrant for a couple who held their elopement here.

We had left Prague a day early to stay here for two nights and ended up staying for four! Best decision we ever made. Could not have better things to say about this hotel. Everything from the staff, quality of service, to accommodations is absolutely impeccable. The photos in these reviews and on their website do not do it justice. Everything is very clean, updated and in the best condition possible. The hotel staff treated us like royalty, were very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating to all requests.

We had a wonderful time at this hotel. The interior of the castle was beautiful as well as the exterior. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open that day, but the dinner we had at the bar was excellent. Real orange juice and beehive honey at breakfast is the best.

This castle/hotel is WONDERFUL. Everything was perfect. It's recommended that you make meal reservations when you make your hotel reservations. The grounds are outstanding. The decor in the castle 🏰 will take your breath away. We highly recommend staying here.

I wish I could have stayed longer! I booked this hotel for the night we had arrived from the US. In hindsight, I probably should have booked something in Frankfurt close to the train station for the first night since we were exhausted. But I’m still really glad we stayed here. It was my mom’s first trip to Europe and her birthday trip, so I wanted I start it off with a grand room in a “castle.” We arrived a bit early so could not check in, but they held our bags and also took them to our room when it was ready. I had booked the Grand Balcony Suite so the room was very large and had a balcony with a lovely view of the golf course. The hotel is in a very quiet and peaceful area so we were at least able to get a great nights sleep. It was very clean and had air conditioning. The building is really lovely and I took some time to explore it as well as the outside. We did not eat here, but I’m sure the food is delicious. The staff were all very nice as well and even brought some bubbly up for my mom’s birthday. I thought that was very sweet and it made her evening! The beds were comfortable and overall I was very happy with our choice to book here. I only wish we could have spent a few days instead of one night. Just a note, we took an Uber from Frankfurt airport to here and it was about $46. We took a taxi from the hotel to the Frankfurt train station the next day and it was about $38. You can take a train from Frankfurt main station to Kronberg, and would then need to walk, or take a taxi, but as we were tired and had luggage, we just opted for a taxi. It was worth it for us. The hotel can arrange a ride, but I believe it was €140 one way, so a taxi is definitely cheaper. The city of Kronberg is a bit of a walk, but is doable of course. Just depends on your mobility. I tried to get an Uber back to the hotel after walking around Kronberg, and there were none. I’m not sure how I would have found a taxi, so we walked back. But just things to keep note of if you do want to explore. If you want to relax in a peaceful setting and eat at the hotel restaurant, I think it’s a great place to do that. I’d definitely stay again.

Beautiful hotel which was the house of monarchy. The terrace is superb. The food is good except on Monday and Tuesday nights with their limited Terrace menu. The grounds are now a member only golf club. Too bad the hotel doesn’t have a pool.

We have had a great dinner event, top service, very friendly and we have enjoyed the special atmosphere of the ancient hotel with a lot of antique furniture, painting etc , a very nice Christmas tree in the main lobby and an excellent breakfast buffet with several items you do not find always on buffets. The great park with the big old trees is always very nice, even in winter. Only the room, although nice size and great view on 4th floor has been a bit outdated but stil OK but therefore only 3 instead of 4 or 5 stars.

I've stayed here twice. If you love history, art and luxury you'll be happy here. This estate is an experience like none other, you literally sleep and walk among beautiful original works of art. (William Turner's painting can be found in the bar.) It's a unique experience to languidly roam the corridors discovering one amazing painting after another (in solitude)....while knowing Empress Victoria roamed the same hallways. Negative: on a recent overnight the bar/dining room service offered poor service. It wasn't crowded and they had plenty of staff, but this didn't prevent them from forgetting to bring our wine with dinner or re-filling our morning coffee cups. I actually had to chase someone down to re-fill and take our breakfast order, after waiting 30 minutes. What's worse than being dismissed? - Being forgotten. I can only assume it was because this was the restaurants first weekend being open since last year (due to Covid). Regardless, it needs improvement. To end on a happy note, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. I especially like the cozy English country vibe: fresh flowers, floral upholstered walls and countryside etchings. This castle may be in Germany, but England and its charms are very present...including afternoon tea!

We have stayed here 3 times now and while the other two times were great, this one was not. The experience here depends on the room, obviously. This time we had a magnificent large room, but the amenities were seriously lacking. First of all there was no airconditioning. If this would have been a normal summer, the room would be unbearable. The solution was a 15euro Aldi style fan. The bathroom described as ‘premium’ was maybe premium at some point in the DDR but obviously not in 2021. We used breakfast once and they still didn’t bring back the buffet. 35 euro for whatever slices of bread and cheese you get is way overpriced. Enjoy a morning walk into town instead. For 300 euro per night, I would expect more.

Obviously not your average hotel. Rooms, atmosphere and service were amazing. Definitely specific for weekend get aways for some quiet time or corporate events. Wifi is good, food is great and you can have a field day of photography. Main town is just down the road if you need some activities.

A gorgeous palace hotel, a must-go historical place in central Germany in my opinion. If the accommodation is a bit too much, having an English style afternoon tea there also a great experience.

Travel back in time in style, with wonderful food and excellent service. The staff is beyond what you’d expect and the prices are reasonable. We had a lovely time - thank you! P.S. Check out the lounge with the fireplace. A glass of wine in front the fireplace is very calming.

This Castle Hotel is beautiful! Warm and bright! Staff are super nice and attentive even with our weird questions from Canada. We were unsure of the bed - turn down service…since the duvets were folded on top of the mattress, not made like we’re used to. They are patient with us and not judging. Going to be getting a massage at the spa tomorrow hoping it will be as nice as all the other things so far. My husband went golfing today and it left a lot to be desired. He had to rent clubs - they were dirty, golf bag had garbage in it and the grip on the clubs was literally fraying right off. He had fun but quality of rental was very low. We love the little bar menu we can order from and just sit in the grand lobby enjoying snacks/food and drink. We can wonder the whole castle and just randomly try doors and wonder in to look. Very cool. Unfortunately the tours of the castle are only in German and not translation available. Breakfast is included and it is the most beautiful presentation I have ever seen. Absolutely worth it! Even fresh honeycomb dripping honey for you! We would definitely recommend this place if you want to stay in a castle!

Beautiful castle/hotel. Staff was more than friendly and welcoming. Grounds were beautiful and location was very peaceful. Far enough from the downtown area to get away, yet close enough for a short drive in. Room was very spacious and relaxing.

Hotel overbooked all places in the restaurant and for the hotel guests offered to go to the VERY small bar with limited menu or driving outside to other restaurants around. We did not expect such a treatment in 5 star hotel, where we paid for the Suit room. Also, we were expecting that hotel will worn you about missing places in the hotel restaurant, before placing an order and paying for the room. In addition, hotel mentioning about fitness center in the hotel, however you should to drive 15min in order to reach external and public fitness center, which presented as hotel's fitness club. The manager of the hotel promissed to get back to our inquiry for the partial refund, due to the fact that hotel cannot provide us with all hotel's services as stated in the website, however, manager disappeared and we were required to pay full amount. Would not recommend to stay in this hotel.

Beautiful and luxurious hotel, with good views. Meet and greet, and reception were very professional. The food was great. The only downside is slightly less professionalism during breakfast and lunch (showing the buffet, communication, providing silverware as i got them myself from another table although i asked for them, etc.). Well Mostly communication that can be improved Thanks a lot and would come again

Wonderful place full of history. There is a selection of events on offer for each season, like Christmas market, afternoon tea with lovely cakes and live piano music, concerts, litetature meetings, food events, etc. The hotel is also famous for its delicious food in Tudor style restaurants (each with fire place), beautiful park, golf and excellent service. There is a selection of rooms, from cosy, tiny ones to spacious suits appropriately priced with delicious breakfast included.

Some of the most racist Germans, I have ever met are working at this hotel. Even thou I booked the most expensive room, there service was like a 1 star hotel, very unfriendly and extremely racist staff at the reception and some of the managers. The heater does not work in the rooms, and it gets very cold in the winter. And they don’t have a spa. Would not recommend anyone to stay here, it’s not worth the money at all.

It is an old-world hotel and there are lots of antique furniture and paints in the hotel. It gave umy family more comfortable and peaceful. Also the biggest garden and wonder golf club, fantastic landscape will give you unforgetable memeries.

Perfect place to have a wedding, the castle is very elegant and dreamy. It has a rose garden, golf campus, hotel and much more. The food offered there is a very high quality (similar to a Michelin restaurant), they offer options with various plates for elegant events. The prices are quite high, but the quality and experience is totally with it. A room can cost between 200-300€ a night, but the decor and room is inside the castle which is magnificent. I strongly recommend this place for events, weddings or as a romantic get away.

Unprofessional and waste of time. Asked for general information in regards to a wedding, e.g. cost, different packages, optional services. The hotel staff send me the same generic email multiple times and when I finally gave them detailed answers, as they requested, Ms. Spatzier from their Events team just told me they can't proceed further as they can't offer "a party with subsequent dance floor". Wouldn't waste my time with those jokers. Plenty of other options with more professional staff and transparent info brochures.

Had breakfast and lunch on the patio every night. What a delightful place. The rooms are enormous, the service was top, and the food was excellent. The soups, especially the cucumber gaspacho with prawns was amazing, the creamy white asparagus soup with pine nuts was also another favourite. We had a couple of fish for main course, and breakfast buffet all fresh and great quality. Surprisingly, the desert was formulaic through out the three days we stayed here, but not bad. We had a wine tasting and a tour of the castle with an official historian, both were very enjoyable. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Nice walks through the ground and a nice rose garden for total R&R.

Old palace of Victoria, the mother of kaiser Wilhelm. Beautiful place with fantastic lawns etc. The rooms are a bit dated, aircon wasn't working well or absent. In that case I would expect of a 5star hotel to provide you with a ventilator before one asks. The beds were so so. Food was good. Wines were excellent. Pool and gym- need to take a cab there, but are provided for.

Exquisite hospitality and service! Every wish was catered for. The hotel is absolutely perfect for my Qigong workshops as there is a large park attached to the hotel as well as a golf course! My small dog was also given individual attention and love 💕 by the staff. Their food is of top standards and it is worth trying out their breakfasts and delicious menus!

Lovely old stately home, staff excellent, food above average, rump steak disappointing, was hoping for a fillet, for a 5* hotel to only serve rump, a little disappointed, wine great, sitting outside and lighting not great.
