What a wonderful respite from the crowds and the heat. Lovingly maintained. Simple yet filled with delightful surprises. Come early and please park respectfully.

My friend and I really enjoyed this hike. Tons of plants to see, and definitely challenging if you take the ridge hike that extends off the larger loop. The ridge section is not ideal for small children or pets, but the views from that section are beautiful!

The four parking spots are pull offs from the road. Otherwise it does seem challenging to find parking. The trails are short but pretty there is a nice look out at the top with a bench. Parts of the trail have steep drop offs to the side and are slick when wet.

Very pretty hike. It's a very easy trail that's not too long with a great view. However know that there is parking for about only two cars.

It's an enjoyable location with beautiful nature and several types of trails. But, be warned, about halfway up I had to come down because I was just bombarded by mosquitoes. Other than that it's great location, not touristy, and you could take your own time.

Beautiful little hike with a scenic lookout. Gentle to moderate. The hike connects to a well marked and labled treacherous trail that continues further up the ridge toward the quarry.

Good hike for beginners! The entrance is hidden but look for the stairs hidden in the shrubbery. There's a scenic point a mile in, and another one about another mile or two deep within. However, it does get steep at parts and we didn't proceed to the 2nd half. Warning: there's lots of mosquitoes in this hike. Make sure to wear bug spray!! ⚠️ Overall, highly recommended!

Easy hike, it could be little confusing at first but they do have directions installed. Parking is very limited. The garden is taken care of by local volunteers so make sure you keep it clean.

Another great find for us…we were driving around the Kaneohe area and saw the Friendship Garden on Google so we decided to check it out on a whim. It’s a trail nestled in the quiet neighborhood of Kaneohe. Limited parking because it’s in a residential area. It was a great hike off the beaten path which offered lots of greenery and scenery. A well manicured trail that climbed a few hundred feet with an awesome view of Kaneohe Bay at the top. I believe the neighborhood looks after the trail so please respect the place and take your garbage with you. Some parts of the trail have long drops and could be a bit dangerous if it’s been raining. Also, keep in mind that on a windy day it’s windier at the top. Friendship Garden Trail was a serene and peaceful hike that took us about an hour and a half up and down. Definitely one of my favourite hikes.

Amazing hidden gem! Parking is a challenge but worth it! Tranquil and secluded. A short hike to amazing views.

Great hike, they aren't kidding about being challenging once you get past the normal hike. However the views are worth it.

The actual Garden trail is a nice, fairly gentle hike. If you venture off on a trail that is marked with pink tags, this is an undocumented trail that is quite difficult. Some sections require use of ropes that are tied to tree. If you are not comfortable with that level of hike, stick to the Friendship Garden proper.

There's wonderful guide signs, and route maps available. We enjoyed the easy route versus the more advanced route. . Great relaxing activity with the grandkids, yet challenging enough to be fun. Motivating and beautiful views. We went through the cool bamboo forest..next time I want to go through the Lemon Eucalyptus grove..🥰💕

This was a very nice, quiet, not crowded lil trail to walk. The views are beautiful. It is a hike so bring the correct shoes. It's all up hill and rocky. But well worth checking out.

What a fun and gorgeous hike. You should go all the way out to the quarry! It's a lot of mud and it's a steep incline but it's a great booty burn

Nice couple hours hike. I'd say it's medium difficulty due to the trek up a few hills. Went with great friends and they also brought their kids. Parking is limited on the street so get there early.

Fun hike with kids...just went to first lookout with bench! Started up the hill, but turned around because some of our littles felt uneasy continuing up the slippery path.

Nice, about an hour (can be made longer, progressing the ridge trail) trail. Nice elevation for a workout, and views are pretty nice of south Windward Oahu.

Beautiful easy walk through a garden with massive trees and a Jungle feel. Beautiful lookout into the Bay, and an incredible bamboo forest all rolled into one half mile hike! Not as many wildlife labels as I would have liked in an educational garden, but beautiful none the less!

Great little hiking trails and views at the top. Track is full of bamboo, lovely different species of tress and shrubs. Be careful of the tree roots in the ground on trail and also some parts are slippery when wet.

It's a short loop and you got the nice view of k-bay. It is a bit muddy and slippery. There is no railing either. So, I don't recommend taking small children for this hike. Also, bring bug spray, lots of mosquitoes.

    A physical hike. But fun.

This hike seems beautiful. We only had time to do the small, inner cicrle trail which took about 15 minutes to complete and loops back to the entrance. The greater hike we heard was longer and steeper. It's a beautiful trail and is well kept by volunteers. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there are literally only 2 parking spots (free) which are right in front of the entrance. So parking is not convenient, but this hike is beautiful and the views are beautiful. Wear good shoes cause it does get steep and slippery.

Beautiful. It was our first hike in Hawaii and unfortunately we went on a rainy day so we had a few muddy patches but I'd definitely love to come back. We almost missed it because the trailhead was in a neighborhood and the parking was two car spaces on the side of the road. Once we found it though, it was an easy day. Lots of fun

In ten acres, this peaceful oasis was landscaped in the 1930s and is posted high above Kaneohe Bay. The Friendship Garden is part of the Kokokahi Tract, developed in 1927 as a Christian, multi-ethnic community to foster a sense of harmony. You can traverse this space, with a thick mantle of mature vegetation, on upper or lower loop trails for peaceful walks. Among the species growing here are ironwood, monkey pod, Cook Island pine, mock orange, octopus tree, christmas berry, African tulip and washingtonia palms. There are lots of original Asian-style design elements, including stone steps, wooden structures and walls, and occasionally you’ll be wowed by distant views across the bay and its islands.

Super cool and easy till you get to the top. Please be respectful of the locals here and pick up your pets droppings. Parking is limited so please respect that as well and don't block the street. Other than that a cool little hike.

Great leisurely short hike unless you're down to take the LONG trail.

I loved the breath taking views and the cool breeze . It was worth the walk up. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be going up and coming down. I think kids ages 4 and up can take that walk up but 3 and under maybe would have to be cartied or back packed up so that their little feets won't get to tired.

Great, light hike. Brought by 9 yo with us and he had no problems. The paths are well maintained. The trees and views are spectacular! There are so many different kinds! At the top there's a great lookout to stop for a snack and a breather before going back down the other way through the bamboo. 🌱

Very short to get to the scenic top, can be slippery after rainfall b careful. Ropes are there at the top when it is slippery. U can keep going after the scenic spot at the top.

Great hike, moderate difficulty, take your time going up and you will be fine. Plenty of ropes during the strap parts.

  • 5/5 arrion k. 3 years ago on Google
The road to the entrance is narrow, be careful when driving. There aren't many places to park near the entrance, like 3 or 4 stalls. The walkway is narrow as it zig zags up the mountain. It is tough in some areas, dirt can slide, but there are ropes along part of the way. There's great lookout points.

  • 5/5 Heather S. 3 years ago on Google
It was actually pretty dry, which made the hike much easier early this morning. There were some amazing views and got some awesome early morning sunrise pictures. This can be pretty steep in some sections, so may not be appropriate for young children or after a lot of rain.

Great short hike. Out of shape lady and 3 yr old did just fine. I loved that it was shady, beautiful from start to finish, clearly marked and had awesome views.
