Public beach access here is confusing to say the least. Let me start with the guard shack. We were first asked by a local lady where we were going. My husband driving said, "the beach!" with a smile on his face. She replied" "what for?" I then ask her, "isn't it a public beach?" She gave me an attitude & said, "well yes but it's owned by Military & on private property". Hmmm... I tell her that my husband is active duty military & we'd like to visit the PUBLIC BEACH. She asks for our paperwork on our vehicle- license, registration & proof in insurance as if we are being pulled over by a police officer! Then she says, " you still need to fill out paperwork BEFORE WE LET YOU IN. So we roll up to the next lady. I asked her a hand full of questions to gain more info. At first she was very defensive until I explained that I'm taking pics & gathering info to post a google review. All of a sudden her demeanor changed completely. Definitely more pleasant than the first lady, she gave us directions to the visitors parking, issued us a pass & marked us at stall #15. Ok- so we drive! We notice the first main access beach is labeled as cove 5. It clearly states on the sign that is the ONLY pet friendly lagoon. We noticed there were tons of up front stalls EMPTY marked as RESERVED FOR RESIDENTS & THEIR GUESTS. Ok- keep going..... Lovely beaches, nice facilities, volleyball nets on 2 different coves... More cabanas.... This place is GREAT.... WAIT! Where is the public parking???? Keep going pass residential homes on the beach then all the way at the end there is a grassy, bush filled lot with about 30 stalls marked for visitors! But she gave us a visitors pass for stall 15.... 1- 10 are empty... About 3 cars & we have to park all the way in 15???? Why not 1 or 2 or 10???? Weird! We had our pup & realized that the only dog friendly beach is at the beginning of the access so we'd have to park all the way at the end & walk for about 10 min back to lagoon 5 with our truck far away- out of sight. We decided to drive around exploring & taking pics to prepare for this review so that we can help others who are wondering, just like we were... WHO EXACTLY OWNS THIS PUBLIC BEACH? Seems that Greystar & Kapilina Beach Homes have completely taken over the entire Iroquois Point Beach access. Seems to me that they try to make it as inconvenient as they possible in order to deter visitors from wanting to visit this beach. It is obviously designed for the convenience of their residents usage EXCLUSIVELY. Even though the parking was open everywhere, they make sure to tell you at the gate that if you are parked anywhere other than the assigned stall they can ask you to leave or tow your vehicle at our expense. INTERESTING! So you're telling me that my active duty husband can-NOT park at the main lot or more convenient stalls that are wide open all accross every cove because HE IS NOT A PAYING RESIDENT OF THIS COMMUNITY!? EVEN Though this IS ALSO A MILITARY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT!??? Which is partially still owned by the Military!? The other thing that really gets under my skin is that we have gone onto military facilities accross the States & have never been asked to provide our street address, proof of insurance & the name of our minor in the vehicle for liability purposes. What exactly is going on here!? Who owns the beach & why does the security at the gate have such a bad attitude when guests roll up & ask questions!? We are trying to understand why they are requiring us to provide personal info on a waver to enter onto a PUBLIC BEACH! There is definitely something fishy going on here! It's a gorgeous beach & very well kept BUT I do believe that everyone should have access to it since after all, IT IS OWNED BY THE STATE, NOT GREYSTAR! I've attached a bunch of pics & google map quick references to help others get a better picture of what to expect. I will try this beach again without my pup so we can check out the entire waterline by foot next time. Hopefully we have a much better experience.

Nice beach in residential area that is gated, but there is public access available to the beach. You can see so many fighter jets and the warships coming in and out of the harbor as well as the commercial airliners taking off. Diamondhead visible in the distance. The water has some rocks, so water shoes were handy. The sand has tiny bits of coral in it, which stick to you even once you dry and the rest of the sand falls off. I like all the straw umbrellas and chairs provided for use. No showers available to wash off the sand though. And beware of the security lady who tries to bully you off the beach at sunset with all sorts of rules that she exaggerates or makes up to support her power trip.

Living in Kapilina Beach Homes is great as this beach is 5 min walk away. Totally uncrowded due to us being in an isolated community in the boonies of Ewa πŸ˜€

What a beautiful beach that has incredible views of the airport, Waikiki and Diamond Head in the distance! It was my first time here and I will definitely be back as it's my new favorite local beach. It's located in a security controlled entry point where you have to present your ID and vehicle registration upon entering. There is a concession stand however it's not your typical snack food.... They actually have really well prepared food as well as beer, wine and cocktails. I was really impressed. Additionally, the restrooms are super clean and well stocked (some of the nicest public restrooms I have ever encountered). The day I visited the water was warm and fairly calm as the beaches/coves are somewhat protected. There is a bit of rocky broken down coral that can be a bit harsh on bare feet, so wet shoes would be helpful to avoid this aspect... Otherwise beaches are sandy. If you are an aviation geek and love plane watching, this beach is perfect! You can view all sorts of planes that are on decent for landing at the airport, even military aircraft. This beach gets my best review! Please visit but be respectful as with all beaches and parks you visit in Hawaii!

Beautiful sandy beach and blue amazing water! Just how I remember it almost 30 years ago when I lived here as a kid. You do need to show I.D. to get into the area and receive a pass, but once you get in, it's gorgeous!

This is a public beach, but they are real difficult to deal with anymore. I think some Hawaii Residents should get together and file a class action suit for making it seriously impossible to use

Look for Uncle Herb in Cove 1 for surfing lessons, photo ops, and other activities. He will treat you like local. I prefer this beach better than the crowded Waikiki beach.

It’s open to the public. Iroquois Beach is a place of natural beauty. The water is beautiful from deep blue to light turquoise. The sand is very soft and fine.

Sort of a hidden gem. Iroquois Point Beach. Within a private community, this is public access, free admission beach. Visitors must show a driver’s license & insurance on the vehicle. There are chained Adirondack chairs, and sheltered platforms along the beach. Calm, sloped shoreline. The Point is on the channel for Pearl Harbor, we didn’t see any Naval vessels departing or arriving. Clean sand and great views make this a super beach to visit.

Beautiful and usually not busy. This place has little white crabs that my son's like to chase and catch. I also appreciate the stone barriers that keep the waves calm. It's a good spot for kids to wade in. We enjoy watching the airplanes and the ships that pass bym

We love this beach and come visit probably 2 to 3 times a week because we live so close. Unfortunately the lady they’ve hired for Security is one of the nastiest women I’ve ever dealt with in my life. If you avoid her and her prerogative for power you’ll have a fantastic day at this beach.

Public beach but need to get a gate pass from security and park in a very specific stall. Nice beach. Very private with low crowds. Soft waves for little ones. No lifeguard. Nice chairs and umbrellas. Sand is a little rougher than normal. Restrooms. Friendly people who live there.

Ok beaches. Have to drive through a gate to get there, so the guy at the gate has to decide to let you through. Would be a good set of beaches for little keiki.

Beautiful views from the beach of Honolulu and Diamond Head. You can watch ships coming in and out of Pearl Harbor and can watch planes land and take off from the airport. The water is a gorgeous variety of blues however it's cloudy from the strong waves churning up the sand. It was basically impossible to get into the water without water shoes because the ground is full of softball sized pieces of broken coral. I tried to get into coves 5, 6, 7, & 8. Eight seemed to be the least rocky of the ones i tried. The sand also can be difficult to walk in as it's got a lot of rock/broken up coral. It's also got a fair amount of trash. If I'd brought a plastic grocery bag with me I'd have been able to fill it up easily. Overall the beach is nice for sitting in the provided chairs and overlooking the water. That's about it unfortunately.

β€œSand” is rough. I’m sure the staff work hard to keep the beach clean. They’d have to from what I’ve seen out there.

It's private property so you have to show your driver's license and registration and sign in at the guard shack. Very beautiful but unfortunately the security lady at the gate has a nasty attitude.

Nice beach with several little coves great for kids. A bit rocky as beaches go and filling out the paperwork just to get into the area seems ridiculous, but a nice, generally not busy area that you can enjoy
