This beach has turned into one of our go to beaches close to home. Love the beautiful views but mostly I love how every time we go there's not a lot of people here. Everyone has space to do what they want whether it's fishing, swimming, body boarding, having a picnic or a bbq, or just hanging out and watching the ocean tide come and go. Also love catching the sunsets here. It's really gorgeous. A few tips: +Depending on the time of day and time of year the waves can be really strong so be careful if you do decide to swim. +When the tide is low be cautious of the drop off on the other side of the rocks. It doesn't look like much but it is Very Steep and Very Deep. If you're not careful it could cause injury. +Take whatever you decide to bring which is true for all beaches on the island--don't forget your belongings and most definitely do NOT forget to take your trash with you and drop them off in trash bins located close to parking spots. It is super important to clean up after yourself. Please respect the property so other people can enjoy it after you.

From previous reviews, it sounds like they really cleaned this beach up. It’s pretty secluded and barley anyone was there today (a Saturday). Saw plenty of turtles feasting in the water. They’d come up occasionally for air and dive back down. Seems the Navy only wants their cottage patrons on the beach, there is no one enforcing that. We have DOD ID so I’m sure they wouldn’t have cared much. Anyways, it’s a really nice beach now. My only complaint is the walk getting there, you may find some glass and thorn plants so do be mindful of that.

Hidden away at Nimitz Beach are the naval Nimitz Beach Cottages. Well appointed and serviced duplex double bedroom with a shared bathroom units. Perfectly pleasant for a weekend getaway with the family. Remember to take coal for the outside BBQ and all your necessities as there are no shops close by. Good surfing, SUP and a few turtles!

My wife and I love this beach - the walk from your vehicle to the beach, to the water is supah short and love it. You're not required to lug you beach gear hundreds of feet to your beach spot. This beach is perfect for little ones to just sit and play in the water - if you prefer to swim - park closer to the Coast guard side or go to White plains instead. This beach also has NO bathroom, unless you feel obligated to use the ocean. My wife and I take out son here often to chill at the beach and sometimes just chill in the trunk of our vehicle and watch waves.

Not a bad Beach, I'd say this beach is mostly for people who live nearby.

Nice place to see the sunrise and sunset. If you want to go swimming, the current can be dangerous. Look for the reef tide pools for your baby children. They will have good fun there.πŸ€™πŸ€™πŸ‘

Great local place that isn't over crowded and has nice little water holes for kids to play in. Just be careful of the coral. Great place to body board too.

Great place to have a nice get together. The pavilion is covered and has tables and benches. It’s keeps you away from the heat.

It's a beautiful beach, but homeless people live on it. I wouldn't park my vehicle anywhere I couldn't see it from the beach. Lots of garbage everywhere, although there are several cleanup groups on island who come frequently to pick up the trash.

Nice beach to sit and watch the sunrise or sunset. Not sure how safe it is to swim, the surf looked a little rough but we did see some people in the water.

See the curvature of the earth looking from Nimitz Beach over to Waikiki. The Kahanamoku Lagoon Marina and Magic Islands are completely blocked by the water due to earth's curvature.

Too many homeless living on the beach vs inside a shelter. They leave trash all over the beach. Sad

    Private, lot of parking!

Very dirty, lots of trash, and the waves are horrible. Overall not a good beach at all, that probably explains why there's rarely anyone there. There is tons of reef in the water and that makes it hard to swim. Not a beach I would go to again.

Good fishing spot. Cant swim because plenty of reef. But ok tanning spot. Pretty quiet and secluded. But it's gotten really nasty. Lots of trash everywhere. Sand is dirty. My towel I laid on turned black and had cigarette butts stuck on it.

I go to this beach 4x a week if I can! I love the calmness, not super packed with tourists. Really for the locals, waves are mellow.

Amazing beach! My favorite. I go as much as possible. People complain about homeless around. Just because they're homeless, doesn't make them bad. Not a problem for me.

SO beautiful, calm water, not crazy busy. We were able to find parking easily both times. A hidden gem you don't have to hike to get to!

πŸ‘ Probably the best beach on the south side to catch waves. There’s lots of space and several washing stations. There is also ample parking and rentals available too. Only downside is the rentals close at like 4:30 which seems super early and you cannot bring in dogs. I wish there was a dog area of th...
